The mound burial system of the <keyword id="22477664" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ahom-dynasty" source="keywords">Ahom dynasty</keyword> in <keyword id="19911206" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Assam" source="keywords">Assam</keyword>, <keyword id="22553829" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Moidams" source="keywords">Moidams</keyword> was included in the <keyword id="20413005" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="UNESCO-World-Heritage-List" source="keywords">UNESCO World Heritage List</keyword> under the category of Cultural Property on Friday. The decision was taken during the ongoing 46th <keyword id="191427" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="World-Heritage-Committee" source="Orion">World Heritage Committee</keyword> (WHC) session held in the national capital, Delhi. <keyword id="19908797" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="UNESCO" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="UNESCO" meta.hostid="153" meta.entityid="UNESCO">UNESCO</keyword> will examine the proposals of 27 sites for inscription on the World Heritage List, the state of conservation of 124 sites already inscribed on the World Heritage List, and the List of World Heritage in Danger. The World Heritage Committee is one of the two bodies governing the Convention for the Protection of the World's Cultural and Natural Heritage. It is composed of the representatives of 21 states, elected from the 195 states parties to the Convention. In the ongoing session, from July 23 to July 25, the Committee will examine the state of conservation of the 124 sites already inscribed on the World Heritage List, 57 of which are also on the List of World Heritage in Danger. Similarly, from July 26 to July 29, the Committee will examine the dossiers of 27 sites proposed for inscription on the World Heritage List. The sites will be examined according to three categories. The three categories are natural, mixed, and cultural. Reacting to the news Assam Chief Minister Himmant Biswa Sharma said, "The Moidams make it to the UNESCO World Heritage list under the category Cultural Property. A great win for Assam. Thank You Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, members of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee and the people of Assam." "The Moidams of <keyword id="21130638" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Charaideo" source="keywords">Charaideo</keyword> embody the deep spiritual belief, rich civilisational heritage and architectural prowess of Assam's Tai-Ahom community. Apart from the fact this announcement has been made from the soil of Bharat, its entry also stands out for 2 more reasons," he added in a post on X. "It is the first time a site from the North East has made it to the UNESCO World Heritage List under the Cultural Category. After Kaziranga and Manas National Parks, it is Assam's 3rd World Heritage Site. I urge all of you to come and experience Awesome Assam," he further said. The Moidams are the burial mounds of the <keyword id="22558033" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ahom-kings" source="keywords">Ahom kings</keyword>, queens and nobles. The word Moidam is derived from the Tai word Phrang-Mai-Dam or Mai-Tam. Phrang-Mai means to put into the grave or to bury and Dam means the spirit of the dead. Though Moidams are found in all the districts of upper Assam, Charaideo, the first capital of the Ahoms was the necropolis of almost all the Ahom Royals. Charaideo is situated 28 km east of Sivasagar. The first king of the Ahoms Chau-lung Siu-ka-pha was buried at Charaideo after his death observing all the Tai-Ahom religious rites and rituals.

New Delhi, Candidates in Punjab's Jalandhar can spend Rs 15 for a cup of tea and the same price for a samosa they offer to people during public meetings and campaign trails in the <keyword id="19895394" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="lok-sabha" source="keywords">Lok Sabha</keyword> elections. However, those in Madhya Pradesh's Mandla can spend Rs 7 for a cup of tea and another Rs 7.50 for a piece of samosa, considered a staple snack in many parts of the country. With polls to elect the 18th Lok Sabha approaching, district poll panels are fixing the rates for expenses as part of the election expenditure monitoring process. The candidates will have to manage their expenditure within the prescribed limit. These rate cards often become a subject of "meme-fest" on social media about the prices not being in sync with the current inflation level. In most states, including Andhra Pradesh, the expenditure ceiling for a Lok Sabha candidate is set at Rs 95 lakh. However, in Arunachal Pradesh, Goa and Sikkim, the limit is slightly lower at Rs 75 lakh per candidate. Similarly, for Union territories, the expenditure ceiling ranges from Rs 75 lakh to Rs 95 lakh per candidate, depending on the region. In Jalandhar, chole bhature has been capped at Rs 40 while mutton and chicken have been priced at Rs 250 and 500 per kg respectively. Desserts like dhodha (Rs 450 per kg) and ghee pinni (Rs 300 per kg) are also on the menu besides <keyword id="20350738" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="lassi" source="keywords">lassi</keyword> and nimbu pani priced at Rs 20 and 15 per glass respectively. The cost of tea is low at Rs 5 in the rate card of Balaghat in Madhya Pradesh but the samosa is priced higher at Rs 10. The Balaghat rate card also has idli, <keyword id="21122493" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sambhar-vada" source="keywords">sambhar vada</keyword> and poha-jalebi priced at Rs 20 while the cost for dosa and upma has been fixed at Rs 30. In Thoubal district of violence-hit Manipur, tea, samosa, kachori, khajur (dates) and gaja (dessert) have been priced at Rs 10 each. Candidates in the northeastern state's Tengnoupal district, will have to stick to Rs 5 for black tea and Rs 10 for milk tea. The list has a wider spread of non-vegetarian items with duck and pork priced at Rs 300 and Rs 400 per kg respectively. Chicken (broiler) and fish like rohu, mrigal and sareng, are also on the list. In Chennai, the price of tea has been raised from Rs 10 to Rs 15 and coffee from Rs 15 to Rs 20, while the rate of chicken biryani has been reduced from Rs 180 to Rs 150 per packet compared to 2019. In the expenditure card for <keyword id="20035063" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="gautam-buddha-nagar" source="keywords">Gautam Buddha Nagar</keyword> (Noida/Greater Noida), vegetarian thali comes for Rs 100, a samosa or a cup of tea for Rs 10, kachori for Rs 15, a sandwich for Rs 25, and a kilogram of jalebi for Rs 90 per kg. <keyword id="20009826" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="north-goa" source="keywords">North Goa</keyword> candidates can have batata vada on menu at a cost of Rs 15, same as that for a samosa. The tea has been capped at Rs 15 while coffee can cost Rs 20. The rate card for Haryana's Jind offers the candidates to hire a tandoor for Rs 300 and features delicacies like dal makhni and mix veg for Rs 130 while matar paneer has been priced at 160. Breads like butter nan, <keyword id="19994516" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="missi-roti" source="keywords">missi roti</keyword> and plain roti are also on the platter besides desserts including <keyword id="21122494" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="kaju-katli" source="keywords">kaju katli</keyword> and gulab jamun. While parties and candidates often offer workers and voters liquor, none of the rate cards mention alcohol. Other heads which find mention in the rate cards range from expensive infrastructure, such as helipads, luxury vehicles, and farmhouses, to miscellaneous items like flowers, cooler, tower ACs and sofa. The rate cards have also prescribed the ceiling on rates for hiring of different vehicles for campaigning right from a Tata Safari or Scorpio to a Honda City or Ciaz or a bus to ferry to public to rally grounds. Rates have also been set for rose garlands, marigold garlands and bouquet by some poll panels while some have included heads like party merchandise including caps and flags. The rate cards also have an list of permissible rates for hiring venues and accommodation. The expenditure includes the spend for public meetings, rallies, advertisements, hoardings, pamphlets, flexis, campaign material and all other election-related work. At present, there is a ceiling on campaigning funds for individual candidates in the electoral fray but no cap on the money political parties can spend for electioneering. According to the revised guidelines issued by the ECI, the maximum permissible expenditure for campaigning in a Lok Sabha constituency varies across different states and Union territories. Section 77 (1) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 says candidates are expected to keep an account of expenditure incurred on the elections from the "date on which he has been nominated" till the "date of declaration of the result". Polling for the 543 Lok Sabha seats will be held in seven phases, starting with 102 in the first phase on April 19. The votes will be counted on June 4.

She will take on actor, singer-turned politician from Bihar, Manoj Tiwari of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the <keyword id="2146480" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="North-East-Delhi-constituency">North East Delhi constituency</keyword>. Manoj Tiwari had won the election from the same constituency in 2014 and he is the state unit president of the BJP, making him Dikshit's direct rival in the 2019 Lok Sabha election. Earlier in January 2019, Dikshit was made the chief of Congress' Delhi state unit. Political speculators have pitched her return <a href="https://www.news18.com/news/opinion/sensing-tailwinds-is-sheila-dikshit-itching-for-delhi-comeback-with-lok-sabha-battle-1975613.html" data-type="tilCustomLink" target="_blank">as a signal for a possible alliance</a> with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), if the need arises.  Dikshit was the chief minister of Delhi for 15 years from 1998 before she lost to AAP led by Arvind Kejriwal in 2013. She was even pitched as the chief minister candidate for the Congress in the Uttar Pradesh assembly election in 2017, before she withdrew from it. Dikshit's legacy includes a significant upgrade in the national capital's physical infrastructure. Her image was also tainted by the allegations of her family's involvement in kickbacks and corruption around the 2010 Commonwealth Games. Her son, Sandeep Dikshit, was also a former member of Parliament from East Delhi. New Delhi, Jan 15 () Some senior Congress leaders who unsuccessfully contested the last year's Lok Sabha elections may find their names in the party's list of candidates for the Delhi assembly polls. Delhi Congress chief Subhash Chopra said the party will field its "best" candidates in the elections for the 70 Assembly seats in Delhi scheduled for February 8. In a meeting with senior leaders of Delhi unit, Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Monday suggested that those active in electoral politics should contest the Assembly polls. The meeting was attended by many senior leaders including former Delhi Congress presidents Ajay Maken, JP Agarwal and Arvinder Lovely, and working president Rajesh Lilothia, all four of whom were fielded by the party in the Lok Sabha polls. Agarwal said that he will follow instructions of the party chief. "There is no reason why we should not do what Congress chief desires us to do," he said. Agarwal was a runner-up in the Lok Sabha election from Chandni Chowk. He was also a former MLA from the Chandni Chowk Assembly segment. Lilothia, too, expressed his willingness to contest the Assembly election as per directions of Gandhi. During the meeting with the Congress chief, he had offered himself to be fielded against Delhi Chief Minister and AAP convener Kejriwal in New Delhi seat. Congress sources said that Lovely too was inclined to contest the polls as demanded by the party high command. Lovely was not available for his comments. He was defeated from East Delhi Lok Sabha seat by BJP's Gautam Gambhir. Maken is also expected to follow suit although he had some "reservations" on fighting the Assembly polls. He was a runner up in New Delhi parliamentary seat in elections last year. The central election committee of Congress is likely to meet on Thursday to discuss the names of party candidates for the Assembly elections. The ruling AAP on Tuesday declared all its 70 candidates. The BJP is also expected to announce its candidates for the polls in next few days.
