	With <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/FTIL-Reshuffles-Board-ShahBrothers-Jignesh-and-Manjay-Exit-Firm/articleshow/45230642.cms">FTIL </a>(Financial Technologies India Ltd) and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/NSEL-ScamRs-850-crore-was-siphoned-off-from-India-to-Mauritius-and-investigativeagencies-dont-have-a-clue-about-it/articleshow/46701050.cms">NSEL </a>merger getting further extended, the purpose to pay off the distressed victims of the Rs 5,600 crore <keyword id="6405757" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="NSEL">NSEL</keyword> scam seems to be defeated. The victims are still running from post to pillar to recover their lost money even after 29 months of the scam in 2013.<br />

	In a letter to <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Delayed-GST-better-than-flawed-GST-FM-Arun-Jaitley/articleshow/50244836.cms">Arun Jaitley</a>, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (<keyword id="6355225" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="MCA">MCA</keyword>), the aggrieved victims have now communicated their displeasure over the ministry’s request for further extension of the merger.<br />
	<br /> “The whole idea behind this merger was to alleviate the pain and suffering of investors and shift the onus of settling outstanding trades of NSEL on to 99.9998% owner parent company <keyword id="6405755" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="FTIL">FTIL</keyword> which through its directors masterminded the whole scam,” said <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/FTIL-Reshuffles-Board-ShahBrothers-Jignesh-and-Manjay-Exit-Firm/articleshow/45230642.cms">Ketan Shah,</a> the general secretary of NSEL Investors Action Group, an association of victims.<br />
	<br /> He further added that since the merger was the only way out for recovering their money from <keyword id="154840" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jignesh-Shah">Jignesh Shah</keyword>’s former company FTIL, the fact that MCA sought extension to read the “ voluminous papers submitted by FTIL in their representation” is a disappointing news.<br />

	“There are investors who are suffering from life threatening illnesses like cancer, heart problems etc. but have no money to take care of medical treatment. There are retired people, widows and senior citizens who had invested in NSEL for monthly income to survive their daily needs and now their total capital has vanished in this scam making their lives absolutely difficult and unbearable,” noted Shah.<br />
	<br /> The association has also alleged that key accused Jignesh Shah has been lobbying hard with officials in both MCA and Ministry of Finance to frustrate genuine efforts of the Modi government. “We have also seen that the MCA efforts to replace FTIL board in <keyword id="76312" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="CLB">CLB</keyword> have hit a dead wall and FTIL and Union of India counsels are jointly seeking adjournment which raises serious questions about the credibility and purpose of this CLB (Company’s Law Board) exercise initiated by MCA,” he added.<br />

	It should be noted that the MCA had prepared a draft of the merger back in October 2014, which was challenged by FTIL’s new board as the merger will adversely impact the company’s valuation as well as the existing investors’ sentiments. However, this seems to be the only for the victims of the Rs 5,600 crore NSEL scam.<br />

<ul class="summary-list"><li>Aeroflot asked its employees to stop reporting malfunctions on planes, <a href="https://www.proekt.media/narrative/rossiyskay-aviatsiya/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Proekt</a> reported.</li><li>This means that many flights are departing with significant equipment issues, the outlet added. </li></ul><p>Russia's biggest commercial airline Aeroflot has asked its employees to refrain from reporting malfunctions as it continues to suffer under Western sanctions, <a href="https://www.proekt.media/narrative/rossiyskay-aviatsiya/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according to the investigative Russian outlet Proekt.</a></p><p>Senior flight attendants at the company were sent an email in March last year in which they were told they should only log faults after obtaining approval from the pilot in command, Proekt reported on Monday. The investigation cited internal company documents and interviews with current and former employees.</p><p>This means that many flights are departing with significant breakdowns that staff are fully aware of, several employees said.</p><p>A senior Aeroflot flight attendant told the publication that employees were instructed "not to record any breakdowns encountered during flights in the Cabin Log Book (CLB), but rather to verbally communicate the details of the issues and their location," according to a translation <a href="https://theins.ru/en/news/261737">by independent Russian media outlet The Insider.</a></p><p>"Consequently, in cases where spare parts were unavailable and in order to avoid grounding the plane, the aircraft was allowed to take off with a malfunction, even if it was quite significant," the flight attendant added.</p><p>A former Aeroflot employee told Proekt that the main reason behind the directive is "to prevent aircraft from being grounded due to a malfunction that, on paper, should prevent the aircraft from being operated until it is fixed." </p><p>A series of <a href="https://www.politico.eu/article/russia-alexander-neradko-aeroflot-s7-airlines-turbulence-aviation-sector/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Western sanctions</a> implemented after Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine prohibited its aviation industry from being able to service its aircrafts or get spare parts delivered.</p><p>As a result, the Kremlin announced earlier this year that it would <a href="https://iz.ru/1454090/anastasiia-lvova-maksim-talavrinov/zapadnye-chasti-v-rossii-uzakonili-kannibalizatciiu-samoletov" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">legalize</a> "cannibalization," which means Russian engineers can remove serviceable parts from one plane to keep others flying.</p><p>The lack of aircraft maintenance has already led to several close calls.</p><p>One Aeroflot flight in January had to make an emergency landing due to a faulty toilet system, while another was forced to land one month later due to an air conditioning malfunction, <a href="https://arbat.media/exo-moskvy/sankcii-i-russkii-avos-priciny-rekordnogo-kolicestva-avarii-v-rossiiskoi-aviacii-6322" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">according to a report by the independent Russian news outlet Arbat</a>.</p><p>A former pilot told Proekt that on a flight in January, he found a fuel leakage while starting the engines of a Boeing 737. When he called technicians to investigate the leak, they said it had been there for a while.</p><p>"It had happened several times before, but there were no records of it in the technical log book — the airline's management asked us not to write anything," the pilot told Proekt.</p><p>Denis Brailsford, the head of asset management at the UK's leading aviation consultancy group IBA, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/video-shows-terrifying-russia-plane-loses-cabin-pressure-plane-dangerous-2023-3?r=US&amp;IR=T">previously told Insider </a>that flying in Russia could become increasingly dangerous. </p><p>"Access to spare parts, which are sanctioned, is very limited," Brailsford said. "And the ability for Russian Airlines to perform repairs on those parts ... is very limited."</p><p>Aeroflot did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment. </p>

More than 10,000 US service members sprang into action after Florence hit - these military photos show them in the thick of it

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Deliveroo</span></p><p class="caption">Deliveroo CEO Will Shu.</p></div><p></p></div></div>Deliveroo is letting some of its riders choose how they want to be paid, according to <a href="https://deliveroo.co.uk/blog/uncategorised/note-rider-payment-model-trialling-london/" target="_blank">the company's website</a>.</p><p>The move - outlined in a blog post on Deliveroo's website - comes after <a href="http://uk.businessinsider.com/deliveroo-couriers-are-protesting-in-london-over-pay-2016-8" target="_blank">couriers protested outside Deliveroo's London headquarters</a> over a new payment structure.</p><p>Deliveroo CEO and cofounder Will Shu<a href="https://www.theguardian.com/business/2016/aug/15/deliveroo-boss-says-sorry-for-pay-dispute" target="_blank"> told the BBC Today programme</a> that he was "very sorry things have got to this point".</p><p>The new payment system involves paying riders per delivery instead of per hour but riders are concerned that they'll end up earning less than the national minimum living wage of £7.20 an hour under the new payment method.</p><p>"Our riders are the life blood of our business and without them we are nothing," said Shu. "This [the new pay plan] is in response to our riders' number one concern which is flexibility … This was a choice for them. If the riders choose to be on a new scheme that's great … If riders feel like it's not for them, they can choose to work on the old scheme as well."</p><p>However, the Independent Workers Union Couriers &amp; Logistics Branch (CLB) <a href="https://iwgbclb.wordpress.com/2016/08/14/deliveroo-strike-update-3/" target="_blank">states in a blog post</a> that Deliveroo riders will have to move to another zone where the £7 per hour/+£1 per delivery scheme is still in place if they don't want to be paid per delivery.</p><p>"This means drivers will have to work in zones far away, adding extra costs and time to their day," writes the union. "This also means drivers will have to learn their new zone from scratch and spend time building up their knowledge, as it takes weeks and months to get enough knowledge to work efficiently. Deliveroo's CEO says couriers can choose how they want to be paid

<p><span>On January 23, Teofilo Rodriguez Cazorla, also known as "El Conejo," or "The Rabbit," was <a href="http://www.bbc.com/mundo/noticias/2016/01/160126_venezuela_carcel_margarita_conejo_videos_dp">killed on Margarita Island in Venezuela</a>.</span></p><p><span> Until his release from the island's San Antonio prison in 2015, after 12 years of incarceration for drug trafficking, Cazorla was one of the country's most innovative crime lords, turning his prison into a lucrative personal fiefdom. </span></p><p><span>As Francisco Toro writes at Caracas Chronicles, Cazorla was <a href="http://caracaschronicles.com/2016/01/27/dystopia-today/">"a visionary"</a> prison gang boss who personified Venezuela's social and </span><span>political breakdown.</span></p><p><span><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image"><p class="source"><span><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isla_Margarita#/media/File:Nueva_Esparta_Map_English.svg">Wikipedia</a></span></p><p class="caption">Margarita Island.</p></div><p></p></div></div>At San Antonio, Cazorla ruled over an inverted image of a functioning society: A prison safer, better governed, and more appealing in some ways than the outside, and a place where criminals became one of the few remaining beacons of order.</span></p><p><span> Toro writes that "El Conejo" was "The Steve Jobs of [prison gang bosses]," turning his prison into a hedonistic moneymaking operation. </span></p><p><span>But just as importantly, he created "</span><span><span><span><span><span>the kind of order the 'official' state is no longer in a position to offer," becoming so indispensable to Margarita's social harmony - and so widely feared - that schools closed down in the days after his death, with "</span></span></span></span></span>many of the island's residents ... shutting themselves in their homes this week ... [w]aiting to see what happens next."</p><p><span>Toro links to an astonishing 2011 New York Times report that explains how "El Conejo" pulled this off. Times reporter Simon <span>Romero</span> likened San Antonio prison to a "<a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/04/world/americas/04venez.html?_r=0">Hugh Hefner-inspired fleshpot</a>," with four swimming pools, a disco, a cockfighting arena, and plentiful quantities of both marijuana and crack cocaine.</span></p><p><span><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCpSRU1aMsg">YouTube/Journeyman Pictures</a></span></p><p class="caption">One of the pools at San Antonio prison.</p></div><p></p></div></div></span><span>Outsiders would come to San Antonio - a place that "</span><span><span>almost resembles the island's beach resorts" - </span></span><span>to gamble, party, and relax, and "El Conejo" would in turn distribute the profits among fellow prison gang members. </span></p><p><span>As Toro notes, Cazorla's criminal enterprises spread beyond San Antonio's walls: "<span>Virtually every taxi on the island now sports his trademark (-infringing) Playboy Bunny sticker - visual evidence that the drivers had paid their protection money," he writes. "Nothing seemed to move in Margarita without the rabbit's say so."</span></span></p><p><span>Crucially, inmate privileges extended beyond hedonism and profiteering, as Cazorla's gang was also able to amass an impressive arms stockpile. </span></p><p><span>Romero quotes a 10-year veteran of the British army imprisoned in San Antonio on drug-trafficking charges who marveled at the inmates' arsenal: <span> "I've seen some guns in here that I've never seen before. AK-47s, AR-15s, M-16s, Magnums, Colts, Uzis, Ingrams. You name them, it's in here." According to Venezuela's El Universal, inmates <a href="http://www.eluniversal.com/nacional-y-politica/160126/capriles-no-hay-escasez-de-municiones-en-la-carceles">fired automatic weapons from the prison's roof</a> after Cazorla's death.</span></span></p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>REUTERS/Carlos Eduardo Ramirez</span></p><p class="caption">An antigovernment protester holds a stone in front of a burning bus during a protest against Nicolas Maduro's government in San Cristobal, March 17, 2014.</p></div><p></p></div></div>The particular version of order that Cazorla imposed on San Antonio was lucrative for certain inmates, and certainly for himself: Romero interviewed Cazorla "as bodyguards<span> shucked oysters for him." </span></p><p><span>But it was order of a decidedly antisocial sort, held together through violence and fear: "A mural at the prison depicts Mr. Rodríguez as conductor of a train, accompanied by gun-wielding subordinates, barreling toward a snitch hanging from a noose," Romero wrote.</span></p><p><span>Toro suggests that the prison-lord mentality is already filtering into Venezuelan society as <a href="http://money.cnn.com/2016/01/18/news/economy/venezuela-economy-meltdown/">the economy collapses</a> and people <a href="http://www.cfr.org/venezuela/political-crisis-venezuela/p36356">lose their little remaining confidence in the country's political system</a>. </span></p><p><span>Had Cazorla lived a bit longer, he would have had both the experience and the motivation needed to capitalize amid the chaos. 'The Steve Jobs' of Venezuelan prison gang lords was just killed

<p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container float_right"><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div>A prominent hacker and security researcher allegedly told the FBI he accessed an airplane's in-flight entertainment system to make it fly sideways, according to <a href="http://www.wired.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Chris-Roberts-Application-for-Search-Warrant.pdf">a search warrant application filed by the FBI</a>.<p>One World Labs founder Chris Roberts was detained by the FBI in April after tweeting that he might hack into the domestic United Airlines flight he was flying on. According to the FBI affidavit - first <a href="http://aptn.ca/news/2015/05/15/hacker-told-f-b-made-plane-fly-sideways-cracking-entertainment-system/">put online by </a><a href="http://aptn.ca/news/2015/05/15/hacker-told-f-b-made-plane-fly-sideways-cracking-entertainment-system/">APTN News</a> and <a href="http://www.wired.com/2015/05/feds-say-banned-researcher-commandeered-plane/">highlighted in an article in WIRED</a> - Roberts had spoken with the FBI earlier this year about repeatedly hacking into planes' in-flight entertainment systems, and in one instance, using his access to issue a climb command and make the plane turn sideways.</p><p>After interrogating him, the FBI confiscated two of Roberts' laptop computers, as well as several hard drives and USB sticks, WIRED reports.</p><p>Below is the tweet the caused Roberts to be detained in April:</p><div><div></div></div><div><div></div></div><p>And here's what the FBI reportedly confiscated:</p><div><div></div></div><p>The search warrant application also details how Roberts said he hacked into the plane's in-flight entertainment system - IFE - to change its flight.</p><p>"He compromised the IFE systems approximately 15 to 20 times during the time period 2011 through 2014," according to the warrant application. "Each of the compromises occurred on airplanes equipped with IFE systems with video monitors installed in the passenger seats."</p><p>Roberts said he was able to get physical access to the IFE systems by removing the cover of the Seat Electronic Box installed underneath passengers seats, according to the FBI filing. Then, the FBI said, he would use a modified Ethernet cable to connect his laptop to the IFE system, which allowed him to access other airplane systems.</p><p>"He stated that he then overwrote code on the airplane's Thrust Management Computer while aboard a flight ... [and] successfully commanded the system he had access to the issue the 'CLB' or climb command," the warrant application states.</p><p>With the command, according to the FBI document, Roberts "caused one of the airplane engines to climb resulting in a lateral or sideways movement of the plane."</p><p>WIRED notes that Roberts' actions, if true, have disturbed many people involved in security research, as evidenced by the below tweet from Alex Stamos, Yahoo's Chief Information Security Officer:</p><div><div></div></div><p>However, <a href="http://www.wired.com/2015/05/feds-say-banned-researcher-commandeered-plane/">speaking to WIRED</a>, Roberts said his discussions with the FBI about hacking a flight are taken out of context.</p><p>"That paragraph that's in there is one paragraph out of a lot of discussions, so there is context that is obviously missing which obviously I can't say anything about," he told WIRED. <p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>London-based food delivery startup Deliveroo has abandoned plans to force riders to sign a new contract that they argued could have seen&#xa0;them earn less than half their current salaries, the company&#xa0;<a href="https://deliveroo.co.uk/blog/uncategorised/will-shu-16-aug-2016-1941note-will-founder/" target="_blank">announced on Tuesday</a>.&#xa0;<p><span><span>Riders were initially told that they would have to sign new contract terms, or no longer be able to work for the firm, which has developed a platform that allows people to order restaurant food to their homes and offices.&#xa0;</span></span></p><p>Funded <a href="http://uk.businessinsider.com/meal-delivery-startup-deliveroo-raising-275-million-series-e-2016-8" target="_blank">with $475 million (£365 million)</a>, Deliveroo has traditionally paid its 3,000 couriers in London £7 an hour + £1 for every delivery, as well as a contribution towards petrol costs for those riders using motorcycles. But the four-year-old company sent out an email last week outlining plans to roll out a new payment scheme trial for 280 couriers in London that would see them earn £3.75 per delivery.</p><p><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/deliveroo-couriers-are-protesting-in-london-over-pay-2016-8?r=UK&amp;IR=T">Protests have been taking place</a> outside Deliveroo's office in Central London over the last week, with couriers arguing that the proposed contracts would result in many of them earning barely half the National Living Wage of £7.20 an hour<span>.</span></p><p><span><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>With the situation showing no sign of dissipating,&#xa0;Deliveroo confirmed on Tuesday it will allow couriers to work under their existing contracts instead of being forced to take&#xa0;part in the new trial pay scheme. </span></p><p>The Independent Workers of Great Britain (IWGB) Union, which has been helping to organise the strikes, described the breakthrough as a victory for those who had refused to work on its social media accounts.</p><p>It posted the following update to <a href="https://www.facebook.com/couriers.andlogisticsbranch/photos/a.824353047654840.1073741827.824352997654845/1088369557919853/?type=3&amp;theater" target="_blank">its Facebook page</a> on Tuesday:</p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">"**Breaking News**<br>--- VICTORY TO THE DELIVEROO STRIKE ---</br></p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">The delegation of drivers have just exited the Deliveroo head office, having finished negotiations with Management. They agreed to the following:</p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">- No victimisation<br>- No new contract<br>- Even if drivers have signed the new contract already, it no longer has effect and you are not bound to it <br>- This will be a trial until 14th September when Deliveroo will meet again with workers to assess the month's pay <br>- If you don't want to be on the trial, you WILL have to move zone, but you will be able to move to any zone of YOUR choice and be guaranteed the same hours you are currently on."</br></br></br></br></p><p><span><div></div></span></p><p>Couriers who&#xa0;took part in the strikes have also been reassured that their jobs are safe, according to the IWGB Union.</p><p>"We truly believe - and have seen in previous trials - that average rider fees will increase," wrote Deliveroo CEO and cofounder Will Shu in <a href="https://deliveroo.co.uk/blog/uncategorised/will-shu-16-aug-2016-1941note-will-founder/" target="_blank">a blog post</a> on Deliveroo's website on Tuesday. "Indeed, in areas where we have launched this trial, rider fees have increased by over £2 per hour. In addition, riders have earned more than what they previously made, in aggregate, working less hours.</p><p>"But if riders wish to stick with the old scheme, we simply ask them to move over to a neighbouring zone, no more than two miles away. Signing the new pay-per-delivery service agreement will not be compulsory during the trial - if riders want to continue working in their zone under the pay-per-delivery trial to see how it works for them, they can do so."</p><p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div><p>Shu added: "We have been listening to our riders to understand what matters and how we can make Deliveroo work better for them. Ultimately, if this model doesn't work for our riders, it doesn't work for us."</p><p>While couriers can opt out of the trials, <a href="http://uk.businessinsider.com/the-ubereats-food-delivery-service-is-launching-in-london-2016-6" target="_blank">the UberEATS rival</a>&#xa0;is still pushing ahead with them and the vast majority of couriers seem to be willing to give it a go, according to the company.</p><p>A Deliveroo spokesperson provided the following statement on Wednesday:</p><div></div><p>Although an agreement has been met between the striking couriers and Deliveroo, it's possible that tensions could flare up again. Mags Dewhurst, head of the IWGB, <a href="http://www.vice.com/en_uk/read/deliveroo-protest-gains-concessions-iwgb" target="_blank">told Vice</a>: "We will prepare from September the 14th and continue fighting for sure. The Deliveroo strike is over as the company abandons plans to force couriers into signing new contracts

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>Security researcher Chris Roberts <a href="http://www.wired.com/2015/05/feds-say-banned-researcher-commandeered-plane/">made headlines after an FBI report alleged he had hacked a plane mid-flight and taken over the controls</a> - but now serious doubts are growing over the entire affair.</p><p>In an interview with a special agent earlier this year about potential vulnerabilities in in-flight software, Roberts apparently made the claim that he could hack a plane using the passenger entertainment system. These comments then came to light after Roberts was banned from United Airlines flights in a high-profile incident after tweeting about potential vulnerabilities.</p><p>A search warrant was then issued for the researcher's devices as part of an FBI investigation - <a href="http://aptn.ca/news/2015/05/15/hacker-told-f-b-made-plane-fly-sideways-cracking-entertainment-system/">and the comments were included in the warrant, which was made public</a>.</p><h3>Here are the relevant parts of the warrant (emphasis ours):</h3><p style="padding-left: 30px;">A special Agent with the FBI interviewed Chris Roberts on February 13, 2015 and March 5, 2015 to obtain information about vulnerabilities with In Flight Entertainment (IFE) systems on airplanes. Chris Roberts advice that he had identified vulnerabilities with IFE systems of Boeing 737-800, 737-900, and Airbus A-320 aircraft. Chris Roberts furnished the information because he would like the vulnerabilities to be fixed.</p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">During these conversations, Mr. Roberts stated the following:</p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">That he had exploited vulnerabilities with IFE systems on aircraft while in flight. <strong>He compromised the IFE systems approximately 15 to 20 times</strong> during the time period 2011 through 2014...</p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">...That he was about to exploit/gain access to, or "hack" the IFE system after he would get physical access to the IFE system through the Seat Electronic Box (SEB) installed under the passenger seat on airplanes...</p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">...After remove the cover... he would use a Cat6 ethernet cable with a modified connector to connect his laptop computer to the IFE system while in flight...</p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">...He then connected to other systems of the airplane network... He stated that he then overwrote code on the airplane's Thurst Management Computer while aboard a flight. He stated that he successfully commanded the system he had accessed to issue the "CLB" or climb command. <strong>He then stated he thereby caused one of the airplane engines to climb resulting in a lateral or sideways movement of the plane</strong> during one of these flights.</p><p>In short: Roberts allegedly hacked into planes between 15 and 20 times over several years via the in-flight entertainment system using modified cables and his laptop. On one occasion, he apparently gained direct control of one of the engines, and made the plane move sideways.</p><p>However, multiple news reports are casting doubts over the claims.</p><p>First, <a href="http://www.runwaygirlnetwork.com/2015/05/17/boeing-ife-experts-hit-back-at-hacker-claims-in-fbi-report/">a post by Mary Kirby on aviation industry website Runway Girl Network points out that Boeing says that entertainment systems are</a> "isolated from flight and navigation systems" on commercial aircraft. Industry expert Peter Lemme told Kirby that "the IFE ARINC 429 interfaces are not capable of changing automatic flight control modes," and that "the claim that the Thrust Management System mode was changed without a command from the pilot through the mode control panel, or while coupled to the Flight Management System is inconceivable."</p><p><a href="http://www.runwaygirlnetwork.com/2015/05/17/boeing-ife-experts-hit-back-at-hacker-claims-in-fbi-report/">Industry consultant Michael Planey also told Kirby that given Roberts' alleged method of access, the story seems suspect</a>. "We have seen multiple instances of passengers being restrained by fellow passengers or flights diverted because a passenger is behaving abnormally. I find it nearly impossible to believe Roberts could have done this type of an act over a dozen times and never had a flight crew or fellow passenger notice - that part stretches the imagination.</p><p>"Furthermore," Planey adds, "in the event that what he claims about monkeying with the Thrust Management System occurred, that would have been noted by the flight crew; they would have noticed the aircraft was moving not by command from the cockpit. There would have been many ways in engine monitoring and flight control management systems to detect this sort of event, and I would have expected the pilots would have written it up and there would have been an investigation. So I don't believe what he says to be true."</p><p>Writing for Forbes, <a href="http://www.forbes.com/sites/thomasbrewster/2015/05/18/fbi-plane-attacks-real-or-not/">Thomas Fox-Brewster points out further criticism</a>.
