Under the 'overburden (OB) rocks-to-manufactured sand' initiative, <keyword id="59700" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="coal-india-ltd" botkeyword="" source="ET" sourcekeytype="COMPANY" meta.keywordsubtype="EQ" meta.aliasname="coal india ltd" meta.entityname="Coal India Ltd." meta.entityid="11822" meta.seoname="coal-india-ltd">Coal India Ltd</keyword> (CIL) facilitates processing of waste overburden at its open cast mines. "CIL has envisaged to process the overburden rocks for sand production in mines where OB material contain about 60 per cent sandstone by volume which is harnessed through crushing and processing of overburden," the <keyword id="111919" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="coal-ministry" source="Orion">coal ministry</keyword> said in a statement. Out of the five proposed plants, <keyword id="16269487" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="ballarpur-plant-of-western-coalfields-ltd" source="Orion">Ballarpur Plant of Western Coalfields Ltd</keyword> (<keyword id="6358109" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="wcl" source="Orion">WCL</keyword>) is expected to commence sand production by May. Four plants -- one each in WCL, South Eastern Coalfields Ltd (SECL), Bharat Coking Coal Ltd (<keyword id="6387784" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="bccl" source="Orion">BCCL</keyword>) and Central Coalfields Ltd (<keyword id="14191839" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="ccl" botkeyword="" source="ET" sourcekeytype="COMPANY" meta.keywordsubtype="EQ" meta.aliasname="ccl" meta.entityname="CCL International Ltd." meta.entityid="5671" meta.seoname="ccl-international-ltd">CCL</keyword>)-- are under different stages of tendering process. To fast-track the 'OB-to-sand' initiative, CIL has prepared a model bid document for installing more such plants across subsidiaries, in which terms and conditions have been modified for wider participation. The successful bidder will have the liberty to decide sale price and marketability of sand produced, according to the statement. Overburden rocks are also used in levelling up land for construction of roads and railway tracks. WCL has sold 1,42,749 m3 of OB for road construction, formation for railways, land base levelling and other uses and earned Rs 1.54 crore. SECL has also used 14,10,000 m3 of OB for railway siding and <keyword id="92906" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="fmc" source="Orion">FMC</keyword> projects. Coal India to produce sand using overburden rocks; likely to begin ops at 5 plants by next year

Foreign institutional investors (FII) have so far sold equities worth $6.1 billion in 2023 so far, but the analysts at Axis Securities believe that the worst of FII selloff is behind us now. Going forward, the brokerage believes that economic recovery and corporate earnings will take centrestage. Nifty50’s current valuations provide a ‘good entry point’ The benchmark Nifty50 index declined by 3.3% in 2023 so far, and the recent correction has dragged down the index’ price-to-earnings multiple to 17.4x on a 12-month forward basis. This is below its 5-year average of 18.8x. “Current valuations are below the 5-year average (18.8x), providing a good entry point for long-term investors,” said the Axis Securities report. In terms of sectors, the brokerage says that valuations of PSU banks, metal, and energy look attractive, while IT, pharma and auto sectors look expensive. Analysts at Goldman Sachs are overweight on banks, industrials and cement companies, while those at Morgan Stanley are bullish on the financial and consumer discretionary sectors. Capitalise on dips, say analysts Following on from the see-saw movement seen in March, analysts expect volatility to persist in the Indian equity markets in April due to global uncertainties. However, investors can capitalise on this volatility to employ a ‘buy on dips’ strategy. “Bouts of volatility cannot be ruled out owing to global uncertainties. Thus, dips should be capitalised on to accumulate quality stocks,” the analysts at ICICI Direct said. Echoing similar sentiments, analysts at Goldman Sachs recommend buying on dips, saying, “The valuation of the stocks is reasonable, though still not cheap. The relative premium to the region has halved from a record peak and the returns would be driven by 17%/15% earnings growth in 2023/24.” There is also a growing consensus amongst brokerages that Nifty50 might end this year around 20,000. While Axis Securities maintained its target of 20,400 for the benchmark index by the end of this year, Goldman Sachs said in a note that Nifty50 is likely to touch 20,000 in the next 12 months thanks to double-digit earnings growth in FY24. After the Ides of March, analysts pick best stocks that can be bought on dips

<keyword id="384738" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tata-Coffee-Ltd-">Tata Coffee Ltd.</keyword> and <keyword id="2960599" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="CCL-Products-Ltd-">CCL Products Ltd.</keyword> both hit 1-year highs on news that the government was keen to allow foreign direct investment in the coffee plantations sector. The <keyword id="6416832" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ministry-of-Commerce-and-Industry">Ministry of Commerce and Industry</keyword> is mulling a proposal to open up the coffee sector to investment from overseas in a bid to improve the technology running the sector as also to get more investment into the company, reported the Economic Times. 

	For the moment only tea plantation companies are allowed to invite foreign money into their businesses.
 As a consequence, <keyword id="176328" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tata-Coffee">Tata Coffee</keyword> surged 8.6 percent to 103.95 rupees on the <keyword id="53581" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="NATIONAL-STOCK-EXCHANGE">National Stock Exchange</keyword>, where 32 lakh shares were traded compared with the 1-week average of 5.97 lakh shares. The company's market capitalisation has gained 14 percent in one year to 1,784 crore rupees. It trades at 2.2 times book value of 44 rupees. 

	Smaller rival CCL Products Ltd. jumped 5.6 percent to 245 rupees on a traded volume of 4.14 lakh shares versus an average of 1.67 lakh shares in the past one week. CCL Products enjoys a market capitalisation of 3,078 crore rupees, a jump of 190 percent over 1 year. The share trades at 6.8 times book value of 34 rupees.

Coffee shares doing well at the markets today

Coffee exporter <keyword id="2960599" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="CCL-Products-Ltd-">CCL Products Ltd.</keyword> surged as much as 10 percent in early Tuesday deals after the Hyderabad-based company reported a sharp surge in both first quarter profit and sales that beat market expectations. CCL Products said its <keyword id="2960600" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="April-June-Profit-After-Tax">April-June Profit After Tax</keyword> surged 50 percent to 30.2 crore rupees compared with 20.2 crore rupees in the year ago period. Sales in the past quarter grew 25 percent to 212 crore rupees versus 169 crores in the year ago quarter. CCL rose 18.50 rupees, or 9.5 percent, to 212.75 rupees on the <keyword id="53581" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="NATIONAL-STOCK-EXCHANGE">National Stock Exchange</keyword> on volume of 21 lakh shares compared with an average of 6.06 lakh shares as its 5-day average.

State-owned <keyword id="59700" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Coal-India-Ltd">Coal India Ltd</keyword> arm <keyword id="175844" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="CCL">CCL</keyword> today said that it will not go ahead with the proposed buyback plan worth Rs 1,001.8 crore, according to <keyword id="6367495" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="PTI">PTI</keyword>. 
 "The board of Directors of CCL at its meeting held on March 10, 2017 have after reviewing the limited reviewed unaudited financials of the <keyword id="24975" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="company">Company</keyword> ended 31 December 2016, based on the Revised Valuation Report submitted by <keyword id="146899" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="merchant-banker">Merchant Banker</keyword>, decided not to proceed with the proposed buyback," <keyword id="45383" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Coal-India">Coal India</keyword> said in a filing to BSE. 
 
Central Coalfields Ltd (CCL)-- the Coal India arm -- had a few days back approved a share buyback plan worth Rs 1,001.88 crore. 
 
"The board of directors of CCL, our wholly-owned subsidiary, at a meeting held on March 3, 2017 considered and approved the buyback of 5,21,000 fully paid equity shares of face value of Rs 1,000 each from the members of CCL on a proportionate basis through tender offer," Coal India had said. 
 
The equity shares are proposed to be bought back "for an aggregate amount not exceeding Rs 1,001.88 crore...at a price of Rs 19,230 per equity share payable in cash, subject to the approval of the shareholders of CCL," it had said. 
 
The equity shares proposed to be bought back by CCL represent 5.54 per cent the total number of equity share capital in the paid up share capital of CCL, the company had said. 
 
Coal India accounts for over 80 per cent of the country's domestic production. 
 In another filing to BSE, CIL said its board today approved to tender the shares held by the <keyword id="44530" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="PSU">PSU</keyword> in its arms -- <keyword id="260788" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mahanadi-Coalfields-Ltd">Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd</keyword> (MCL), <keyword id="758143" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Northern-Coalfields-ltd">Northern Coalfields Ltd</keyword> (<keyword id="6371398" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="NCL">NCL</keyword>), <keyword id="1440942" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="South-Eastern-Coalfields-Ltd">South Eastern Coalfields Ltd</keyword> (SECL) -- in their respective buyback offer. 
 
MCL's 4,51,743 shares would be tendered in the buyback offer and "the price per share at which the shares are to be tendered is (in Rs) 35,796.02." 
 
NCL's 4,11,135 shares would be tendered in the buy back offer and "the price per share at which the shares are to be tendered is (in Rs) 30,260.70." 
 
SECL's 6,09,250 shares would be tendered in the buy back offer and "the price per share at which the shares are to be tendered is (in Rs) 19,699.47."

India Ltd arm refused to go with Rs 1,002-crore buyback plan

New Delhi, Jan 7 () Coffee exports from India rose marginally to 3.50 lakh tonne in 2019 as compared to 3.48 lakh tonne in the previous year, according to the Coffee Board.
 India is the third-largest producer and exporter of coffee in Asia.
 Italy, Germany and Russia were the major export destinations for Indian coffee last year. India ships both Robusta and Arabica varieties, besides instant coffee.
 Robusta coffee exports rose 4.10 per cent to 1,86,360 tonne in 2019 from 1,79,004 tonne in 2018, the Board data showed.
 Export of Arabica coffee however declined 10.75 per cent to 47,341.82 tonne from 53,049 tonne in 2018.
 The outbound shipment of instant coffee fell to 27,339 tonne in 2019 from 29,146 tonne in the previous year, the data showed.
 Of the total coffee exports, India exported 72,267 tonne to Italy, 37,175 tonne to Germany and 28,573 tonne to Russia last year.
 Some of the major exporting companies include CCL Products India, Tata Coffee, NKG India Coffee, Allanasons Pvt Ltd, Olam Agro and Coffee Day Global Ltd.

Nagpur, Jun 21 () Coal India Limited (CIL) will engage mine developer cum operators (MDOs) to increase its coal output and reduce import dependency of the dry fuel in the coming years. The Maharatna coal mining behemoth in the process has identified a total of 15 greenfield projects to operate through MDO model of which 12 are open cast and 3 underground, a release by Western Coalfields Ltd (WCL) - subsidiary of CIL - said. Combined, they have a total targeted capacity of around 168 million tonne/year (MTY). While the OC projects have a targeted capacity of 162 MTY, UG projects have close to 6 MTY. The contract period would be for 25 years or life of mine whichever is less. "CIL will engage MDOs of international repute, having state-of-the-art-technology through open global tenders, who shall excavate, extract and deliver coal to the coal companies of CIL as per the approved mining plan. "CIL's board recently has given its nod in regard to standard bid document and request for bids for the engagement of MDOs. CIL is laying out plans to complete the formalities by 2021-22 so that all projects become operational and start yielding the output to contribute in 1 BT by 2023-24," it said. It further informed that upcoming identified projects of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited, South Eastern Coalfields and Central Coalfields Limited will form major segments for the MDO mode with targeted capacities of 65.5 MTY, 52.4 MTY and 45 MTY, respectively. Eastern Coalfields Limited and Northern Coalfields Limited will have projects with targeted capacities of 3 MTY and 2 MTY, respectively. "Notice Inviting Tender (NIT) for 2 Projects, Siarmal OC of MCL (40 MTY) and Kotre-Basantpur Pachmo of CCL (5 MTY) together having a targeted capacity of 45 MTY has been floated in 2019-20. While NIT for 5 Projects for a targeted capacity of 68 MTY will be floated in the ongoing fiscal, for the balance 8 projects NIT will be floated in the fiscal, 2021- 22," the release said. It also informed reputed MDOs would be engaged to have multiple advantage of technology infusion, and operational efficiency in the system apart from increased production. MDOs will facilitate R&amp;R issues, land acquisitions, green clearances and coordination with state and central pollution boards. CIL to engage MDOs to boost coal output

New Delhi, Jan 8 () Thousands of workers at state-owned steel plants boycotted work while some remained absent in protest against the government policies, according to SWFI, the apex body of steel workers in India.
 However, operations remained unaffected at the plants.
 The impact of strike was minimal on Coal India too.
 The protest was against privatisation of public sector companies, change in labour laws, low wages for contactual workers and other issues, Steel Workers Federation of India (SWFI) Working President P K Das told over phone.
 "The strike was observed at some plants. Some boycotted work and some remained absent," he said.
 A SAIL official said production remained unaffected as workers in the night shift stayed back at the plants resulting in 100 per cent attendance in the 6 AM to 2 PM shift.
 Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) has about 70,000 employees. It has five integrated steel plants namely Bhilai Steel Plant in Chhattisgarh, Rourkela Steel Plant in Odisha, Bokaro Steel Plant in Jharkhand and Durgapur Steel Plant and IISCO Steel Plant in West Bengal.
 Besides, it has three special steel units in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal and a ferro alloy plant in Maharashtra.
 An official of another steel PSU Rashtriya Ispat Nigam (RINL) said while all executives came to work, 80 per cent workers boycotted work.
 There are about 18,000 employees in RINL, out of which about 6,000 are executives, the RINL official said.
 According to a Coal India official, there was 89 per cent attendance (as of 2 pm ) at all the subsidiaries of the coal major.
 Coal India accounts for over 80 per cent of the domestic coal output.
