Externally, few changes are expected, but the internal shift to the M5 processor will be pivotal for Apple’s AR ambitions, potentially making this one of the most advanced headsets available. Apple’s strategy here is clear: to bridge the gap between regular releases and keep the Vision Pro line competitive. On the software front, Apple is expected to roll out updates like the visionOS 2.2, which introduces new Mac display options in AR. <h2>Apple entering smart glasses market? </h2> On a related note, the Vision Pro 2 doesn’t seem to be the only wearable device that Apple is working on. A couple of days back, reports of Apple working on Meta Ray Ban-like smart glasses had also surfaced. A Bloomberg report had also said that Apple was conducting internal research to develop these smart glasses. The study, led by the company’s Product Systems Quality team, sought employee feedback to understand the potential of smart glasses and their key features. According to the report, this internal survey asked participants to evaluate existing smart glasses available on the market. The feedback collected from these focus groups will reportedly be crucial for Apple as it looks to understand the demand and fine-tune features that could be incorporated into its product. While it’s still early in the process, these developments suggest that Apple is planning to enter the smart glasses market in the next few years, with a product that may directly compete with Meta’s Ray-Ban glasses. If these smart glasses are developed, they could serve as an upgrade to Apple’s existing wearable ecosystem. The glasses would expand Apple’s range, offering a more immersive and interactive experience for users. Russian economists and officials foresee a hard struggle in 2025

Many insurers are making significant changes in 2025.Deductibles and prescription drug costs will become more expensive for some Medicare recipients — and it could impact whether older Americans can afford healthcare. Insurance company mergers and closures are contributing to shifting Medicare plans and prices. Companies like Aetna or AARP/UnitedHealthcare are <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.nerdwallet.com/article/insurance/medicare/big-part-d-changes">merging their coverage plans</a>, while previous insurers like Mutual of Omaha are leaving the market. That's leading to fewer — and sometimes pricier — options for Medicare recipients. "When plans end or a merger happens, Medicare enrollees can be impacted in two noticeable ways," Elizabeth <keyword id="23786390" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ayoola" source="keywords">Ayoola</keyword>, personal finance writer at NerdWallet, said in a statement to Business Insider. "In the case of the former, enrollees may be left vulnerable without coverage and scrambling to find a new plan. In the event that a merger happens, enrollees could end up auto-enrolled into a plan that's no longer a good fit." Millions of older Americans depend on Medicare to pay for services like prescriptions and doctor visits. The federal insurance plan — which is often tied to Social Security andtypicallyapplies to people over 65 — is many baby boomers' main source of health coverage. Like other health insurance programs, recipientshave a yearly enrollment period.EligibleAmericans can now join, drop, or switch their supplementalMedicare plans through December 7. Ayoola told BI that if beneficiaries don't take action to adjust their health insurance plansbefore December 7, they could soon see higher out-of-pocket costs, reduced care options, or more limited drug coverage — issues that can't be resolved after the enrollment period closes. However, some beneficiaries will see price increases or loss of coverage regardless. "For people who are budgeting, open enrollment is especially important," Ayoola said. "Because it's a time to do comparison shopping and essentially see if you can find a cheaper plan somewhere else." <h2>Medicare changes on the horizon</h2>An estimate shared with BI from Healthpilot, a technology platform that helps customers choose Medicare plans, suggests that millions of older Americans could lose part of their Medicare benefits in 2025. Healthpilot estimates that there will be 1.5 million people impacted by <keyword id="23786388" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="medicare-advantageplan" source="keywords">Medicare Advantageplan</keyword> cancellations and 3.5 million impacted by prescription drug coverage cancellations, due in part to insurance consolidation. Former beneficiaries of those plans will need to find new coverage to replace them next year. The Medicare program has a few different branches: Parts A and B act as stand-alone health insurance programs and cover all types of inpatient and outpatient care, while Part D programs typically cover prescription drugs and basic provider visits as a supplement to people's private insurance plans. Part C, also known as <keyword id="20413657" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="medicare-advantage" source="keywords">Medicare Advantage</keyword>, allows seniors to join plans that are offered by private companies but are governed by Medicare rules. Advantage plans have their own caps on how much patients can spend out of pocket, and those numbers change annually. While beneficiaries with Part A and B Medicare could see premium adjustments, most major changes will occur for people with supplemental Part D and Medicare Advantage plans. An increasing number of Medicare Advantage and prescription drug plans are setting their deductible, or the amount of out-of-pocket costs patients are on the hook for before the plan kicks in, at the maximum allowed amount. Healthpilot found that 10% of Medicare Advantage plans will be at the maximum deductible — up from 5% last year. Most Medicare Advantage beneficiaries will still have prescription drug coverage in the new year, but they may face higher out-of-pocket costs. In total, the number of Medicare Advantage plans with drug benefits is largely holding steady, dropping2%. But within the group of Medicare Advantage plans that still have drug benefits, the number of $0 deductible plans will be cut in half — meaning more plans with prescription drug coverage will have higher out-of-pocket costs upfront. To be sure, not all older adultswill be negatively affected by the changes. Some might also have employer-sponsored or private healthcare coverage outside of Medicare, or have plans that aren't changing. But for the Americans who are impacted, the changes could mean healthcare becomes even more of a financial strain. <h2>Baby boomers are already struggling with healthcare costs</h2>These changing Medicare costs come as many low-income baby boomers are struggling to keep up with medical bills. Two older Americans shared with Business Insider their fears for what could happen if their out-of-pocket costs rise in the new year. <keyword id="23786389" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="lisa-callejas" source="keywords">Lisa Callejas</keyword> isworried about what would happen if her husband got sick next year. If that happens, they might not be able to afford treatment — her husband's Medicare out-of-pocket costs will go up to $14,000 from around $9,500. "It means we better not get sick," she said. Callejas, 55, and her husband movedto his native Mexico over the summerto save money. Their son died in January, and Callejas' husband, who worked with their son in the family business of home remodeling, can no longer do the manual labor necessary to keep operations running. Additionally, the rising <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/retirement-savings-social-security-baby-boomers-without-savings-401k-poverty-2024-8">cost of living</a> made it increasingly difficult to stay in the US on a lower income. They're living off the money they made from selling their house in the US and her husband's small <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/boomers-living-social-security-government-aid-snap-loneliness-crisis-isolation-2024-8">Social Security</a> benefits, but fearful of 2025. Betty, similarly, goes to her dialysis appointments three times a week. She was diagnosed with kidney disease and other conditions a few years ago, forcingher to retire early from her steady job in health communications. Betty — who chose to use her first name for privacy but whose identity was verified by Business Insider —lives on her $1,848 monthly <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/personal-finance/investing/what-is-social-security">Social Security disability payments </a>in southwest Illinois. The 61-year-old said she qualifies for both Medicare and <keyword id="20234511" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="medicaid" source="keywords">Medicaid</keyword>, but still pays a couple hundred dollars each month in healthcare expenses, in addition to her monthly $174 premium. Betty isn't sure yet if her Medicare premiums or deductibles will rise in the new year. If they do, she says she can't afford it. She already struggles to afford housing, groceries, utilities, and the car she needs to travel to her dialysis appointments. "Something as small as $20, I can't even imagine," she said. "I had about $10 left over for this month — but that was because I had to sell some jewelry that my mom picked out. I had to sell it in order to make the bills this month." <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/boomer-lives-on-social-security-struggles-financially-feels-lonely-retirement-2024-9">Low-income baby boomers</a> like Betty and the Callejas family might feel the greatest hurt from increased Medicare prices, Ayoola said, and these healthcare costs can derail retirement and long-term finances. Regardless of financial health, Ayoola suggested older adults talk to a Medicare expert or wealth advisor before choosing a 2025 plan. "We can't predict the future and we don't know which direction our health is going to go in," Ayoola said. "It's a good idea, no matter where your health is today, to always try your best to budget for health care expenses and look for ways to cut costs." <ul class="summary-list"><li>Russia is flooding Ukraine with men and equipment, but that should soon slow, analyst Michael Kofman said.</li><li>Its high losses indicate its military is strained under its current level of aggression, he told the <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://nymag.com/intelligencer/article/ukraine-war-why-russia-is-in-more-trouble-than-it-looks.html">Intelligencer.</a></li></ul>Russia's numbers advantage against Ukraine is likely to start diminishing as soon as the end of this year, said US-based military analyst Michael Kofman.Speaking to Intelligencer's Benjamin Hart in an <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://nymag.com/intelligencer/article/ukraine-war-why-russia-is-in-more-trouble-than-it-looks.html">interview published on Tuesday</a>, Kofman said that while the Kremlin has sustained pressure on Ukraine while suffering high levels of attrition, it's now starting to struggle under "very significant constraints.""And if anything, its advantage on the battlefield is likely to decline as we get into this winter and look further ahead into 2025," said Kofman, a Kyiv-born senior fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace whose work focuses on Russia.Kofman was careful to tell Hart that he <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/russia-economy-outlook-defense-budget-spending-ukraine-war-putin-sanctions-2024-10">didn't think Russia would soon run out of equipment or men</a>. But he believes that Moscow can't keep up its offensive pace for long.Such a development could be a ray of hope for Ukraine, which faces a slow yet brutal Russian advance in the east, largely attributed to Moscow expending vastly more manpower and military hardware.<h2 id="8964082f-55d3-469c-a404-42e92c794a3b">Russia's equipment can't last forever</h2>Kofman's first explanation is that Moscow has been replacing high equipment losses with <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/russia-equipment-losses-attrition-rates-2024-2">Soviet-era weaponry</a>, but even these reserve stocks can't last forever."Russia is eating through its Soviet legacy, and its rate of equipment production is quite low relative to the numbers being lost on the battlefield," he said."What it does mean is that the Russian military has increasingly been forced to adjust tactics to minimize their losses," he added. "And that also reduces their ability to achieve any operationally meaningful breakthroughs."<h2 id="0cb4b224-a0e7-4613-9a98-5d52ca51e7de">High payouts show recruitment is under strain</h2>Kofman also believes that the Russian government can't sustain the surge in bonuses and benefits it's offering en masse to new recruits.As it continues trying to overwhelm Ukraine by flooding the battlefield with troops, Russia has been offering abnormally high payouts for new soldiers, such as when <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/russia-sign-up-bonuses-reaching-on-par-with-us-military-2024-7">Moscow touted sign-up bonuses</a> on par with the US military's in July. And that's for a city where the <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://77.rosstat.gov.ru/folder/188598">average wage</a> is less than a fifth of the <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.bls.gov/cps/cpsaat39.htm">median wage in the US.</a>"It's clear that at this rate of loss, the Russian contract recruitment campaign is unable to keep up," Kofman said. "This, too, does not mean that Russia is going to run out of manpower, but it's clear that they're struggling."The UK Defense Ministry posted an update on Monday saying it's likely that Russia has suffered its highest daily casualty rate since the war began, with the average scale of losses rising significantly with every passing year. British officials estimated that the Kremlin stands to steadily <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/russia-lose-1000-troops-winter-war-three-fronts-uk-mod-2024-10">lose 1,000 troops a day</a> throughout the coming winter, after already sustaining record daily losses in May and September.That's happening as Russia pushes intensely on the eastern front, besieging the key towns of Vuhledar and Pokrovsk in Donetsk while attempting to retake Russian land seized by Ukraine in Kursk.<h2 id="cc60203c-4e63-40a1-b91c-3b718dda03e3">Putin's long-term strategy in question</h2>The battles in the Donbas have been a slog, taking <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/russia-vuhledar-seize-key-town-ukraine-2-years-fighting-war-2024-10">more than a year in the case of Vuhledar.</a>While Russian forces have advanced to the limits of Pokrovsk, Kofman told Hart it should take them more than just a few weeks of fighting to conquer the town.His analysis of Russia's pace of fighting presents implications not only for the frontline in Ukraine but also for Russia's <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/russia-economy-ukraine-war-outlook-moscow-sanctions-west-firms-uchicago-2024-10">wartime economy</a>, which Russian leader Vladimir Putin has refocused to <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/russia-war-machine-rebuilt-making-more-ammunition-nato-official-says-2024-7">rely heavily on defense manufacturing</a> after the war began.Draft policy documents <a target="_blank" rel=" nofollow" class="" href="https://en.thebell.io/russia-on-track-to-set-new-military-spending-records/">reported by Russian media</a> in September indicate that authorities plan to continue spending about 40% of the nation's overall budget on its military and national security.Russia posted GDP growth of 3.6% in 2023 after the pivot, despite international sanctions that the West hoped would scupper its economy. Russia's mass advantage against Ukraine should start declining by 2025, war expert says

A significant portion of the budget is dedicated to the National Program for the Welfare of Persons with Disabilities, with Rs 615.33 crore allocated for this fiscal year, up from Rs 502 crore in the revised budget for 2023-24. The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) has been allocated a total of Rs 1,225.27 crore in the fiscal year 2024-25, a marginal increase of 0.02 per cent from the previous year's revised estimate of Rs 1,225.01 crore. This programme includes Rs 315 crore for <keyword id="22518195" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Assistance-to-Disabled-Persons" source="keywords">Assistance to Disabled Persons</keyword> for Purchase/Fitting of Aids and Appliances, an increase from Rs 305 crore. <ul class="summary-list"><li>Former President Donald Trump is trying to distance himself from the Heritage Foundation's Project 2025.</li><li>Project 2025 is a map for ultra-conservative activists to enshrine their agenda should Trump win.</li></ul><a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/donald-trump-key-cases-civil-criminal-investigations-lawsuits-updates-2022-7">Former President Donald Trump</a> is attempting to distance himself from <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/what-is-project-2025-conservative-political-playbook-heritage-foundation-trump-2024-7">Project 2025</a>, a political road map created by The Heritage Foundation that lays out steps Republican activists can take during the next presidency to enshrine extreme conservative policies into law and, critics argue, erode the US government's checks and balances.But while Trump's ties to the project are deeper than he admits, some experts on <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/political-targets-swatting-increasing-anti-government-terrorism-authoritarianism-trump-expert-2024-1">political extremism</a> and pro-democracy activists say one real cause for concern is how the ideology behind the playbook can — and is — moving ahead with or without him.The architects of the plan will continue to try to push forward its policy goals through the courts and Congress no matter who is elected — and even without Trump's complete endorsement, issues central to the playbook are already incorporated into his platform.<h2 id="147abea3-2bfc-4845-bff1-9017335a21e6">What does Project 2025 say?</h2>Among the four pillars of Project 2025 is an over <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.project2025.org/playbook/">900-page playbook</a> for <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-gop-convention-republican-party-future-takeover-maga-2024-7">conservative activists</a> to follow in the first 180 days of the next Republican administration to "bring quick relief to Americans suffering from the Left's devastating policies."The plan includes a wish list of right-wing ideological outcomes, including banning pornography and imprisoning its creators, mass deportations, a ban on <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/the-abortion-pill-what-to-know-about-self-managed-abortions-2020-11">abortion medications</a>, firings in the federal branch and cutting some federal agencies outright to "deconstruct the administrative state," and generally pursuing policies to promote "marriage, work, motherhood, fatherhood, and nuclear families."It would also enable an inclined president to take total control of the Justice Department to weaponize it against their enemies, slash climate protections, and <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-could-slash-student-loan-forgiveness-end-save-plan-reelected-2024-7">eliminate the Department of Education</a>, which oversees the public school system, among other initiatives "to bend or break the bureaucracy to the presidential will."Through its website, the project is gathering applications for jobs across each federal agency to pass along to the next Republican administration — from the Department of Agriculture to the Federal Reserve — that can be used as leverage to advance its agenda in the event of a second Trump presidency.Many roles would be immediately ready to be filled with loyal followers, while other jobs would be cut entirely. Historian and authoritarianism expert Ruth Ben-Ghiat, who is critical of both Trump and Project 2025, argued in a recent Substack article that such cuts would result in "more influence for the 'inner sanctum' of sycophants and extremists who, as in regimes everywhere, are the real source of power."<h2 id="22af5a13-66b1-4d88-99ce-35b60ed43378">How Project 2025 'runs on autopilot'</h2>According to some critics, among the unique concerns about Project 2025 is the fact that, while the overall objectives would be easiest to achieve under a conservative administration like Trump's, some of the policy goals laid out in the plan don't require the direct involvement of the presidency at all.Angelo Carusone, president of the nonprofit journalism watchdog Media Matters for America, told Business Insider that, though Project 2025 is focused on action at the federal level, it also lays out specific goals that can be advanced by local and state governments, or ruled upon by <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/right-wing-evangelicals-brag-about-lobbying-to-influence-scotus-cases-2022-7">sympathetic judges</a>.The Supreme Court, for example, in a series of rulings this term, <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/supreme-court-rulings-executive-power-grab-strengthen-judiciary-2024-7">eroded the power of the executive branch</a> by rolling back the power of administrative positions in the executive branch while strengthening the presidency itself. The rulings — made by a polarized, conservative-majority court — align with Project 2025 policy goals to deconstruct the administrative state and strengthen the "presidential will."Ben-Ghiat noted in a recent Substack that "it's as though these jurists made their decisions with Project 2025 in one hand and an autocrat's playbook in the other.""And so that's how it sort of runs on autopilot and just moves," Carusone told BI.Some members of Congress have already embraced policies that makeup portions of Project 2025's agenda.Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky has repeatedly introduced measures to abolish the Education Department. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia in 2022 introduced a measure to make it a felony for physicians to provide gender-affirming care to children and prevent federal healthcare facilities from providing such care.Ohio Sen. JD Vance — now Trump's pick for the vice presidential ticket — told Newsweek the project has "some good ideas." He has previously supported abortion bans without exception for rape and incest, and in June voted against a bill that would have cemented access to in vitro fertilization (IVF).With even partial control of the legislative and judicial branches, Carusone noted, even if Trump doesn't win in November, the goals behind Project 2025 can still be pushed forward."So you don't need Trump's thumb on the scale, or even his direction, because it's going to move on its own," Carusone said.<h2 id="e3b0e459-fbed-4704-a008-c47a5a181cab">Trump's close ties to Project 2025</h2>The former president's proposed policies for his hypothetical second term, Agenda 47, include numerous areas of overlap with Project 2025. Among them are the defunding of the Education Department, instructing federal agencies to end programs that promote sex and <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/im-transgender-have-been-in-military-for-over-a-decade-2024-5">gender transition</a> at any age, and the niche promise to reissue Executive Order 13957, which made federal employees easier to fire.The independent outlet Popular Information first reported that 31 of the 38 people who wrote and edited Project 2025 had been either appointed or nominated to positions in Trump's first administration or his transition team.A CNN review found over 140 Trump administration members had contributed to Project 2025. The Washington Post described The Heritage Foundation as a "revolving door for Trump officials."After The Heritage Foundation created its "Mandate for Leadership" ahead of Trump's first term, the conservative group proudly announced that Trump applied 64% of its policy recommendations in the first two years of his presidency, CBS News reported. The recommendations included leaving the Paris Climate Accords, ramping up military spending, and increasing offshore drilling.In February, Politico reported that <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/a-nonprofit-is-training-critical-race-theory-activists-2021-9">Russell Vought</a>, a Project 2025 consultant and president of the conservative think tank The Center for Renewing America, included "<a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/christian-nationalism-distorts-american-and-christian-values-group-2022-9">Christian nationalism</a>" as among the top priorities for a second Trump term.Vought, the outlet reported, was the director of the Office of Management and Budget during Trump's first term and is a likely pick for his Chief of Staff if he's elected again.<h2 id="d1058078-5f68-47e9-a258-3c2ea54de14d">What Trump said about Project 2025 — and its leaders about him</h2>"I have no idea who is behind it," Trump wrote July 5 on Truth Social. "I disagree with some of the things they're saying and some of the things they're saying are absolutely ridiculous and abysmal. Anything they do, I wish them luck, but I have nothing to do with them."Danielle Alvarez, a Trump spokesperson, told Business Insider that Agenda 47 and President Trump's RNC Platform are the only policies endorsed by President Trump for a second term, adding that "Team Biden and the DNC are LYING and fear-mongering because they have NOTHING else to offer the American people."Though he denies knowing anything about the project, the playbook mentions Trump's name more than 300 times.Kevin Roberts, the president of <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/reagan-heritage-foundation-economic-freedom-new-right-desantis-trump-markets-2023-4">The Heritage Foundation</a>, noted in a July 10 episode of "The Vince Coglianese Show" that there's a "tremendous" amount of overlap between Trump's Agenda 47 and Project 2025 — and the standard Republican platform more generally.Roberts said there were "no hard feelings from any of us at Project 2025" about Trump's statement denouncing their agenda, saying "he's making a political tactical decision there" in response to a swath of bad press about the playbook's extreme policies."I think what you're going to see is the beginning of a golden era of conservative reform," Roberts added.
