A pair of liberal non-profits have teamed up to help smooth over <a href="http://connectforhealthco.com/2013/10/connect-health-colorado-update-week-1/">the slow start of Colorado's health insurance marketplace</a> with an online marketing push that reimagines the classic "Got Milk?" campaign in a way that doesn't quite do justice to the original. 
ProgressiveNow <keyword id="6359726" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="60" keywordseo="Colorado">Colorado</keyword> Education and the Colorado Consumer Health Initiative released <a href="http://gotinsurancecolorado.org/index.php?id=2" title="ads">eight in-house ads</a> to continue their "<keyword id="1912452" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Thanks-Obamacare">Thanks Obamacare!</keyword>" campaign, which <a href="http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/thanks-obama">pokes fun at conservative Obama bashers</a> and encourages the uninsured to sign up for health benefits.

Colorado's health insurance marketplace struggled during its first week after launching, with just over 160,000 page visits and only 226 enrollments.
The #GotInsurance campaign is an attempt to boost those numbers by speaking to people, bros or not, in their language via the straightforward web address, <a href="http://gotinsurancecolorado.org/" title="bro">doyougotinsurance.com</a>.
The goofy ads have been garnering lots of mixed responses on Twitter. Business Insider's <a href="https://twitter.com/BrettLoGiurato" title="brett">Brett LoGiurato</a> added to the discussion, calling the brosurance riff, "the ad that will keep you from buying Obamacare." He also remarked on the "Club Med" ad, pointing out that it's "literally not possible to break your head during a game of golf."

Colorado Nonprofit Sells Obamacare As 'Brosurance' With Cringeworthy Viral Ad Campaign

Keg stands, birth control, and Ryan Gosling. 
That's how a pair of Colorado non-profits are trying to promote <keyword id="6579869" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="ObamaCare">Obamacare</keyword>. 
The "Got Insurance?" campaign, which was launched by the Colorado Consumer Health Initiative and Progress Now, has three targets: Young adults, women, and minority groups. And to encourage those groups to sign up for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act, they are creating ads they hope will go "viral" on social media.

So far, the ads are working at getting attention- even as the reaction has been mostly negative among commentators. The latest ads released Tuesday are aimed at young women, including a couple that feature actor Ryan Gosling:

"It's been fun to watch how it all plays out," Adam Fox, the director of strategic engagement for the Colorado Consumer Health Initiative. "We've seen both positive and negative reactions, but if people are seeing the ads and purchasing health insurance, that's a good thing."
It does appear to be working, at least in that sense. Traffic to the <a href="http://www.doyougotinsurance.com/index.php?id=2" target="_blank">site that features the ads</a> exploded so much on Tuesday that the site went down for a few minutes. 
The initiative first gained attention in late October, when the term "#brosurance" started popping up amid the groups' release of ads that featured college-aged men doing keg stands and playing golf. It's the other side of the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/video-conservative-group-uses-creepy-ads-to-urge-young-people-not-to-buy-health-insurance-2013-9" target="_blank">"creepy Uncle Sam" ads</a> that encouraged young people to "opt out" of Obamacare.

Fox, who graduated from Pacific University in 2007, said that many of the ads are motivated from personal experiences of the people in them. All of the people in the ads, he said, are either personal friends or people they know through various networks.
"We wanted to come up with a campaign that would attract attention and inject a bit of humor, and try to approach educating people about health insurance a little bit differently," Fox said. "It was really just brainstorming, 'OK, what are some of those risky activities we could work with that would tie it all together?'"

Meet The People Behind The 'Brosurance' Obamacare Ads That Are Making The Internet Cringe

No matter how old people get, they still turn to their moms for advice when they're stuck in a difficult situation. There is actually <a href="http://www.dol.gov/ebsa/newsroom/fshlth5.html">research</a> backing this up, and now insurers and <keyword id="922089" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="advocacy">advocacy</keyword> groups are targeting mothers in an attempt to get more young people enrolled in <keyword id="6362363" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="health-insurance">health insurance</keyword> plans.
The <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2013/11/26/business/new-pitch-for-health-initiative-mind-your-mom-get-insured.html">New York Times</a> investigated the trend, and found that insurers are desperate to enroll young, healthy people to offset the costs of the sick. And with Obama's proposal that may extend existing health plans for adults, the young and healthy are more valuable than ever.

The AARP made a <a href="http://www.aarp.org/ws/affordable-care-act/mom-means-it/">series of e-cards</a> that offer a compromise on motherly nagging in exchange for getting an insurance plan:

Obama's election campaign team, now called Organizing for Action, made this spot to get parents to have a talk with their kids about getting insured. The ad's main character is relieved to find out "the talk" is just about health insurance and not a revelation that his parents are in a cult, or got matching tattoos, etc.:

The Thanks <keyword id="6579869" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="ObamaCare">Obamacare</keyword> campaign from a couple of Colorado nonprofits (responsible for the infamous "<a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/brosurance-is-the-new-obamacare-2013-10">Brosurance</a>" ad) also released this gem. A bro is thankful his mom got him to sign up for health insurance after his buddy somehow managed to accidentally bash his skull in with a golf club:

It's not the first time moms have been the target of an insurance campaign for young adults. In 2007, the Massachusetts government mailed out greeting cards around Mother's Day promoting the state health care plan.
These Obamacare ads will be in circulation throughout the holiday season, banking on the Obama campaign's promise to clean up the mess from the <keyword id="834069" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Affordable-Care-Act">Affordable Care Act</keyword>'s <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/poll-2014-congressional-ballot-obamacare-gop-democrats-2013-11">disastrous launch</a> that has kept most Americans from using the federal insurance marketplace.

Insurers Are Targeting Moms To Nag You Into Signing Up For Obamacare
