As an example, they cited <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://static.rusi.org/359-SR-Ukraine-Preliminary-Lessons-Feb-July-2022-web-final.pdf">a 2022 report</a> from the Royal United Services Institute about the war in Ukraine.That report said: "At the height of the fighting in Donbas, Russia was using more ammunition in two days than the entire British military has in stock."<h2 id="f91d615e-1289-47ec-a34b-3d148176d709">Defense industry 'grossly inadequate' even in peacetime</h2>The US commission warned that defense production as a whole is in bad shape, saying the wider industry doesn't have the capacity to meet national needs even in peacetime."US industrial production is grossly inadequate to provide the equipment, technology, and munitions needed today, let alone given the demands of great power conflict," their report said.Overall, they warned of a spectrum of deficiencies in the US, including a need for better career incentives to recruit military personnel, a "byzantine" research and development process, and a slow, bureaucratic Defense Department."Fundamental shifts in threats and technology require fundamental change in how DoD functions," the report said.The commission proposed several major changes to the way the US plans defense.One is an "all elements of national power" strategy incorporating the private and civil sectors. Urban specific hurdles to increased voter turnout were identified and targeted city-specific interventions were planned. The officers were encouraged to develop tailored, region-specific outreach programs that resonate with the unique needs and demographics of their constituencies. The Commission recalled that nearly 29.7 crore eligible voters did not vote in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections "underscoring the scale of the problem which calls for proactive measures". In the last Lok Sabha elections, of the 50 seats with the lowest voter turnout, 17 were in metropolitans or major cities. It said recent elections across various states have highlighted trends of urban apathy towards the electoral process, warranting targeted interventions and collaborative endeavours.

The CMC is a joint US-UK defense project begun in 2008 to create a common launch system for all future American and British SSBNs. Each CMC contains four missile silos. Selection process: The British High Commissioner jury will select and announce the ‘High Commissioner of the day’ via social media by 20 September. <ul><li>The <keyword id="6355014" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="delhi-high-court">Delhi High Court</keyword> has given the green light for the <keyword id="97393" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Competition-Commission-of-India">Competition Commission of India</keyword> (CCI) to conduct its investigation against WhatsApp and Facebook.</li><li>The CCI contends that excessive data collection and sharing between the two social media giants could be harmful to the competition environment.</li><li>Facebook’s argument that an investigation could not be conducted against it because WhatsApp is a subsidiary was also rejected.</li></ul>India’s competition watchdog, the Competition Commission of India (CCI), has gotten the green light from Delhi’s High Court to proceed with its investigation against WhatsApp and its parent company Facebook. The two Mark Zuckerberg-owned enterprises have been under the spotlight ever since WhatsApp launched its <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/tech/apps/news/whatsapp-says-your-privacy-wont-be-affected-if-you-dont-use-these-features/articleshow/80225748.cms">new privacy policy</a> in January 2021. The two tech giants took CCI to court saying that a fresh investigation is not needed as there were already pending cases against the privacy policy in the <keyword id="6354977" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Supreme-Court">Supreme Court</keyword>. According to the bench headed by Justice Navin Chawla that is not reason enough to quash the CCI’s investigation. And, this ‘excessive’ data collection will get in the way of maintaining a healthy competitive environment. WhatsApp and Facebook get snubbed by the Delhi High Court that allowed India’s competition regulator to probe Mark Zuckerberg’s companies

The <keyword id="6354977" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Supreme-Court">Supreme Court</keyword> on Monday declined to entertain a plea by e-commerce giants <keyword id="18635" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amazon">Amazon</keyword> and <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword>, saying they must face inquiry by Competition Commission of India (CCI) for anti-competitive practices. A bench headed by Chief Justice <keyword id="2797471" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="N-V-Ramana">N.V. Ramana</keyword> and comprising justices Vineet Saran and Surya Kant said: "Big organizations like you ( Flipkart and Amazon) should volunteer for inquiry... Inquiry has to be conducted." The bench declined to interfere with the orders of the <keyword id="6371973" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="karnataka-high-court">Karnataka High Court</keyword>, which refused to interfere with the preliminary enquiry ordered by the CCI into their alleged anti-competitive practices. The top court emphasized that the CCI inquiry must go on. However, the court accepted the request made by senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi for extending the time for the companies to reply to CCI. The e-commerce companies had moved the apex court challenging the Karnataka High Court order. The bench said it sees no reason to interfere in the high court order, and seeing that time granted is expiring on 9 August, "we extend it by 4 weeks". On July 23, the Karnataka High Court dismissed the plea by Amazon and Flipkart against a probe initiated by CCI for the alleged violation of competition law. A division bench comprising justices Satish Chandra Sharma and Natraj Rangaswamy passed the order on a batch of appeals moved by the e-commerce companies challenging a June 11 order passed by a single judge of the high court. The bench noted that by no stretch of imagination the inquiry can be quashed at this stage and the appellants shouldn't be afraid of investigation by CCI. The bench said: "In the considered opinion of the court, appeals filed by appellants are devoid of merit and deserved to be dismissed..." Amazon had moved Karnataka High Court against a CCI order which had called for a director general (DG) level investigation into allegations of anti-competitive conduct in the online sale of smartphones on its platform. The Delhi Vyapar Mahasangh (DVM), the informant before the CCI, had alleged predatory pricing, deep discounting, preferential seller listing, and exclusive partnerships, among others, against Amazon and Flipkart.
