 The company's first product, previewed at CES 2019, has been designed to be the ‘centerpiece’ of security, entertainment and automation needs of home. The press statement Hero Electronix says that the device will be powered by Amazon Alexa and run on Qualcomm’s Vision Intelligence 100 Platform. Ujjwal Munjal is not only the Founder Director at Hero Electronix but also the Executive Director of Rockman Industries — formerly known as Rockman Cycles. Under his leadership Hero Electronix entered the IoT space by acquiring Zenatix — a local IoT startup with clients like restaurant outlets, retail chains and banks. But, now Munjal is looking to directly to the consumer. Hero Electronix has already invested in building all of the ‘core’ technology required in-house — that’s hardware, cloud software, device software, and apps. Munjal also acquired MyBox Technology, the largest multi-operator manufacturer of digital set-boxes in India at the time. From bicycles to AI-powered technology Hero started out at a bicycle company in 1956 and didn’t even start manufacturing motorised two-wheelers until 22 years later. It only created the subsidiary of <keyword id="6357252" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hero-MotoCorp">Hero MotoCorp</keyword> in 2011. Hero Electronix was brought into being in 2015. It started out behind the scenes developing products like <keyword id="6451058" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Semiconductor">semiconductor</keyword>s under Tessolve Semiconductor Private Limited. Now the company is looking to shift its focus to user-facing technology like cameras, audio speakers and dash-cams. In 2016, Munjal acquired TES DST Holding Europe, a German electronics design services company when he said that a new division would be created — called Tessolve Embedded Systems (TES) — that would support the design and manufacture of products. The acquisition was aimed at combining their existing semiconductor technology with system design and embedded software, turning it into something that an average person can use right away — a consumer product.

 Munjal also acquired Lynxemi Pte, a test facility in Singapore that runs trials for new products for consumers, in August 2017. Munjal told PTI, “These acquisitions are not of high value. They are more to do with enhancing our capability. These will help in Tessolve becoming a leader in end-to-end semiconductor engineering solutions provider,” hinting Hero Electronix is looking to go directly to the consumer. Hero Electronix products were one of the few ‘Made-in-India’ products on show at CES 2019. Their partnerships with global giants like Amazon and Qualcomm will also posture the company to expand global operations. The grandson of India’s most famous ‘bicycle maker’ is selling AI at CES 2019

The Hero Group has announced that Sunil Kant Munjal, the joint MD of <keyword id="6357252" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Hero-MotoCorp">Hero MotoCorp</keyword> and Chairman of <keyword id="171917" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Hero-Corporate-Services">Hero Corporate Services</keyword> has quit from his roles, citing the need to focus on his independent core business. 
 It was in a filing to the <keyword id="43628" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bombay-stock-exchange">Bombay Stock Exchange</keyword> (BSE), that the two wheeler maker announced this, saying "Keeping with the core values of the Hero Group as established by the late Dr <keyword id="123336" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Brijmohan-Lall-Munjal">Brijmohan Lall Munjal</keyword>, the members of <keyword id="2732295" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="BML-Munjal">BML Munjal</keyword> family have decided to realign their businesses to achieve future growth and expansion." 
 
Sunil Kant Munjal, who is the youngest son of founder Brijmohan Lall Munjal, would not continue after his tenure comes to an end on August 16, 2016. 
 
"This realignment will not impact the overall promoter shareholding, strategic direction or operational management of the company", the company informed.

Sunil Munjal quits Hero MotoCorp

Two-wheeler giant <keyword id="685322" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hero-MotoCorp-Ltd">Hero MotoCorp Ltd</keyword> (HMCL) witnessed the passing of baton as the top industrialist <keyword id="326201" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Brijmohan-Lall">Brijmohan Lall</keyword> Munjal step aside to escalate his son <keyword id="87849" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Pawan-Munjal">Pawan Munjal</keyword> as the new Chairman of <keyword id="6357252" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hero-MotoCorp">Hero MotoCorp</keyword>. 
 The company’s Board took up this matter during its meeting yesterday in accordance with Brijmohan Lall’s desire to relinquish his duties as the executive chairman of the company. While accepting his offer, the Board requested the 92-year-old to continue to be the guide and mentor of the company in the form of <keyword id="193135" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="chairman-emeritus">chairman emeritus</keyword>, which he accepted. 
 
Brijmohan Lall, who has been the Chairman of Hero MotoCorp since its inception in 1984, will now continue to be part of the Board as a non-executive Director. 
 
With this lastest development, the top leadership succession plan, which was initiated in August last year with the elevation of Pawan Munjal as vice chairman, has reached its logical conclusion. 
 
Even in a highly-competitive and volatile market, Pawan Munjal has guided Hero MotoCorp to expand its global footprint across continents. 
 
Currently, Hero MotoCorp continues to command well over 50% share in the domestic motorcycle market in India. In FY15, the company has recorded a sale of nearly 6.63 million units two- its highest-ever annual sales.

Pawan Munjal is Hero MotoCorp's new chairman

<ul><li><keyword id="2912767" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hero-Electronix">Hero Electronix</keyword>, a <keyword id="46577" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hero-group">Hero Group</keyword> company, has launched Alex-integrated <keyword id="8111732" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Qubo">Qubo</keyword> smart indoor camera and three home sensors.</li><li>In an interview with Business Insider, <keyword id="3341764" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ujjwal-Munjal">Ujjwal Munjal</keyword> said that the ongoing economic slowdown is not going to affect their business. </li><li>Munjal plans to invest ₹150-₹200 crore in the next one-and-a-half years in connected devices.</li></ul>Hero Electronix, a subsidiary of the Hero Group, launched connected smart devices for homes. Led by Ujjwal Munjal, the grandson of Hero Group’s founder Brijmohan Lall Munjal, the company launched four products, leading with an Alex integrated device Qubo smart indoor camera and three sensors. Hero Electronix has also partnered with Amazon and Qualcomm to launch Qubo. So far, ₹350 crore was invested. now, Munjal plans to invest ₹150-₹200 crore in the next one-and-a-half years. Qubo is priced at ₹13,490 a piece. In the next year, they will also launch a video doorbell, multi-purpose indoor outdoor security cameras, all of which will be driven by AI and analytics. “The idea is to innovate and build new products. We want to look at areas where we can add a meaningful impact on people's lives, not with products that are already there. We want to solve real world problems with a device that seamlessly fits into your home,” Munjal told Business Insider. It took the company two years to build these products, but it took time to be a ‘Made in India’ product. “Sixty engineers worked on the product for two years. And while building an Artificial Intelligence-driven product was not the tough part, the difficult process was building the hardware as India is not a hardware-led product. It took us 12 months to just build the prototype,” Nikhil Rajpal, CEO, Hero Electronix told Business Insider. These products were also built to ensure consumer’s privacy. “Most of the cameras available in the market today are not data encrypted which makes them easy to hack. We built the product hardware ourselves, with a 128-bit encryption, that meant we needed to have a more expensive chip but the platform and cloud is based in India itself,” he said. The launch comes at a time when India is in the midst of an economic slowdown, where every sector from auto to FMCG have been hit. However, Munjal is not worried. “I’m not concerned about the slowdown for us in this business. We are trying to build a new product category, for us it;s anyway going to be a slow process. This will give us time to learn and educate people about the possibilities of home automation,” said Munjal. Munjal has plans to reach a million homes in the next 3-5 years.

Riding on Alexa, Hero Electronix wants to take its connected devices to a million homes

If reports are to be believed, Hero MotoCorp's promoter Pawan Munjal is the highest paid director among the top listed private companies as his pay package in last fiscal was around Rs 44 crore. 
 
As per a proxy advisory firm InGovern, Munjal took home Rs 43.91 crore last fiscal, which is 1.84% of his company's net profit. 
 
Munjal was followed by two other executives of the auto group, Brijmohan Lall Munjal, who passed away earlier this month, and Sunil Kant Munjal. 
 
Lall had a pay packet of Rs 43.64 crore and Sunil took home Rs 41.87 crore in 2014-15. 
 
Analysis of salaries of 95 directors in Nifty companies was done and it revealed that on an average remuneration of a director is Rs 9 crore. 
 
As per InGovern, Desh Bandhu Gupta, chairman of Lupin, earned a salary of Rs 37.58 crore, while Larsen &amp; Toubro chairman A M Naik drew an annual remuneration of Rs 27.32 crore. 
 
Among others in the top 10 are Bharti Airtel's Sunil Bharti Mittal (Rs 27.18 crore), Vinita Gupta, CEO of Lupin (Rs 24.86 crore), Hindalco MD D Bhattacharya (Rs 21.59 crore), TCS MD N Chandrasekaran (Rs 21.28 crore) and Ultratech Cement's Kumar Mangalam Birla (Rs 19.04 crore). 
 
On the contrary, pay package of 16 directors was less than 0.05% of the net profits of their firms. 
 
The report stated that remuneration of 11 directors was more than 400 times the median employee remuneration of their companies. This included three directors each of Lupin and Hero MotoCorp and one each of Hindalco, L&amp;T, Cipla, ITC and TCS.

Hero MotoCorp’s Pawan Munjal earned whooping Rs 44 crore in 2014-15

<keyword id="19948209" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="two-wheeler" source="keywords">Two-wheeler</keyword> maker <keyword id="19983534" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hero-MotoCorp" source="keywords">Hero MotoCorp</keyword> Ltd on Wednesday reported a 16.3 per cent rise in consolidated <keyword id="19933742" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="profit" source="keywords">profit</keyword> after tax to Rs 943.46 crore in the fourth quarter ended on March 31, 2024, riding on higher sales. The company had posted a consolidated profit after tax of Rs 810.8 crore in the same period a year ago, Hero MotoCorp said in a regulatory filing. Consolidated revenue from operations during the quarter under review stood at Rs 9,616.68 crore as against Rs 8,434.28 crore in the corresponding period a year ago, it added. Hero MotoCorp said it sold 13.92 lakh units of motorcycles and scooters in <keyword id="20028449" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Q4" source="keywords">Q4</keyword> FY24 as against 12.70 lakh units in Q4 FY23. Total expenses were higher at Rs 8,427.36 crore in the fourth quarter as compared to Rs 7,508.94 crore in the same period a year ago. For the fiscal ended March 31, 2024, consolidated profit after tax was at Rs 3,742.16 crore as compared to Rs 2,799.9 crore in the previous fiscal. Consolidated revenue from operations for FY24 stood at Rs 37,788.62 crore as compared to Rs 34,158.38 crore in FY23, it added. Hero MotoCorp said it sold 56.21 lakh units of motorcycles and scooters in FY24 as compared to 53.29 lakh units in FY23. "During the year, our focus on product launches, network upgrades and customer satisfaction drove us to new heights. From the highest number of product launches to the expansion of new format retail outlets and upgrade at super speed, to a digital-first approach in premium, we set the building blocks in place for accelerated growth in future," Hero MotoCorp Chief Executive Officer Niranjan Gupta said. On the outlook, he said, "Moving forward, we expect the macroeconomic factors to aid the industry's growth. With commodity prices remaining stable, expectations of normal monsoons, and government spending expected to increase, we see multiple tailwinds for the sector over the upcoming quarters." Gupta further said the company will be driving market share gains on the back of launches in the premium and 125 cc segment done in FY 24. The company's board has recommended a final dividend of Rs 40 per share on the face value of Rs 2 per equity share subject to approval of the shareholders at the ensuing annual general meeting, the filing added. "This dividend together with an interim and special dividend, marking the centennial year of Chairman Emeritus Dr Brijmohan Lall Munjal of Rs.100 per equity share, takes the aggregate total dividend for the year 2023-24 to Rs 140 per equity share," the company said. Hero MotoCorp Q4 PAT up 16.7% at ₹943.46 crore

Making their presence felt for the first time at the 86th spot, they are also the youngest on the list. Their estimated net worth stands at $1.3 billion. 
 
 
 
3. Brijmohan Lall Munjal proves that old is definitely gold: The owner and founder of Hero Motocorp (Hero group of companies) ranked 27 in the list, at the ripe age of 92. If anything, he definitely proves that old is gold. And, a lot of it that too, considering his net worth is estimated at a staggering $3 billion. 
 
 
 
4. Welcome the newcomers: This year, the list features atleast 12 newcomers including the Flipkart co-founders and Indigo co-founder Rakesh Gangwal (picture above) who had debuted at the 70th spot with a net worth of $ 1.6 billion ahead of his company’s IPO. 
 
 
 
5. Meet the women with the moolah: Last but not the least, this year’s list also had as many as four businesswomen being featured on it. The notable two are sixty-five year old Savitri Jindal (picture above), of Jindal Steel &amp; Power Limited was ranked at 23, with an estimated net worth of $3.8 billion and seventy-nine year old Indu Jain, current chairperson of India’s largest media group, Bennet Coleman &amp; Co Ltd at the 57th spot, with a net worth of $ 1.9 billion 
 Apart from these, the top 10 featured the usual suspects, i.e. <keyword id="29201" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Lakshmi-Mittal">Lakshmi Mittal</keyword>, Hinduja brothers, Godrej Family, Shiv Nadar etc. And, according to Forbes, the combined wealth of India's 100 richest persons remained largely unchanged at $345 billion, compared with $346 billion in 2014.
