At least 576 more people, including 128 children, tested positive for COVID-19 in <keyword id="65591" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mizoram">Mizoram</keyword>, taking the tally in the state to 46,896, a health department official said on Thursday. Two more fatalities due to the infection in the last 24 hours raised the death toll to 173, he said. 926 personnel selected for police medals on Independence Day

Unscheduled transit flights cannot land for specific hours at Delhi airport on Aug 15

Country's federal counter-terrorist commando force <keyword id="6409838" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="national-security-guard">National Security Guard</keyword> (NSG) reported its first coronavirus linked death on Wednesday when a senior commander succumbed to the infection, officials said. <keyword id="877139" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Group-commander">Group Commander</keyword> (coordination) B K Jha was admitted to the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) Hospital in Greater Noida after he contracted COVID-19 and breathed his last early morning, they said. This is the first death from coronavirus in the NSG. The officer was working with one of the adminstrative units of the force and was not in the combat wing, they added. He was 53. Jha, originally a 1993-batch officer of the <keyword id="40481" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="BSF">BSF</keyword> cadre, hailed from Bihar. The officer joined the NSG on deputation from the <keyword id="109513" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Border-security-force">Border Security Force</keyword> in 2018. He had earlier served as the principal staff officer and commandant to the BSF director general. Both the forces that function under the command of the <keyword id="65242" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Union-home-ministry">Union Home Ministry</keyword> condoled his death on their respective Twitter handles. "DG and all ranks of NSG mourn his death and remember his distinguished service to the Nation. May Almighty rest his noble soul in eternal peace and give strength to his family to bear the loss," the NSG said in its Twitter message. The BSF said it stands by the family of the officer in these trying times. The NSG, as per <keyword id="549893" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="official-data">official data</keyword> updated till Monday, has had over 430 COVID-19 infection cases till now, out of which only about 59 are active. The 'black cats' commando force was raised in 1984 as a federal contingency special force and its primary task includes undertaking specific counter-terrorist, counter-hijack operations and rendering VVIP protection duties. 26 year old Azizur Rahman, a resident of Malda district, was arrested on suspicion of smuggling fake currencies. 
 
"Interrogation revealed that the currencies he was carrying were low quality fake," a source told ET. 
 
This was the third haul of fake 2000 rupee notes in the past fifteen days.

After the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=pathankot&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Pathankot attacks</a>, where it was suspected that terrorists crossed over from Pakistan by breaching the border from Bamiyal area in Punjab, the home ministry and BSF sped up the deployment and activation of these walls along the long and winding border. 
 
According to the blueprint, the BSF along with a team of technical experts will be conducting a pilot project for deploying "technological solutions" for effective border guarding at two "sensitive" riverine stretches in Jammu sector which entails deployment of smart sensors to pick up suspected movements along the international border. 
 
"The laser walls have started working and their functioning is being monitored. Preliminary results in detecting illegal movements are encouraging," an official said.

BSF tightens vigil along India-Pakistan border in Punjab, activates laser walls

Terrorists wearing army uniforms on Monday attacked a bus, a health centre and a police station, leaving five people, including a policeman, dead and several injured in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district. 
 The <keyword id="6354416" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Indian-Army">Indian Army</keyword> has launched an operation against the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=militants">militants</a> numbering about five who are holed up in <keyword id="2970347" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Dinanagar-police">Dinanagar police</keyword> station complex. The assailants also targeted a building where the families of police personnel reside and threw grenades, reported news agencies. 
 
The army was called in from Pathankot and the whole area has been cordoned off. 
 
Quick Reaction Teams, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=bomb+squads">bomb squads</a>, heavy police including senior officers have also been deployed in the area which lies close to the Indo-Pakistan border. 
 
Two army helicopters were also pressed into the operation and a gun-battle was on when reports last came in. Though there were reports of a hostage situation, officials were tightlipped. 
 According to police, the attack started at about 5 a.m. when the <keyword id="6389314" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Militants">militants</keyword> first targeted a roadside eatery and took off in a car after killing a person who was sleeping near Dinanagar bypass. 
 
They said that the militants opened fire on a moving bus, in which four passengers were injured. 
 
They also targeted a community health centre adjacent Dinanagar police station, in which a policeman and three civilians including a woman who were present in the premises were killed. 
 
The gunmen later entered the Dinanagar police station and opened fire on policemen there in which five policemen were seriously injured. They then targeted other part of the building where the families of police personnel reside. 
 
Further, five live bombs were found on Amritsar-Pathankot railway track and the train services on the route had been suspended. 
 
Union Home Minister <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Rajnath+Singh+">Rajnath Singh</a> spoke to Punjab Chief Minister <keyword id="55130" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Parkash-Singh-Badal">Parkash Singh Badal</keyword> and <keyword id="43858" type="POSITION" weightage="100" keywordseo="National-Security-Advisor">National Security Advisor</keyword> Ajit Doval about the situation. 
 Singh assured Badal of full assistance to tackle the situation. The <keyword id="6359327" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="Home-Ministry">Home Ministry</keyword> has also asked <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Border+Security+Force+">Border Security Force</a> to enhance vigil along the entire international border with <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Indo-pakistan">Pakistan</a>. 
 
"I have spoken to the Punjab CM, who apprised me of the developing situation in Gurdaspur. Security forces have rushed to the spot," said Singh, who is on his way to Madhya Pradesh. 
 
Parkash Singh Badal summoned an emergency meeting in view of the incident. 
The attackers entered the Dinanagar Police Station and opened fire at the police personnel. Among the injured was Dinanagar SHO Mukhtiar Singh, SSP Gurdaspur Gurpreet, Singh said. 
 
The two sides were locked in a heavy exchange of fire, several hours after the incident, he added.

Gurdaspur Terror Attack: Indian Army launches operations against militants

The <keyword id="6362387" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="National-Investigation-Agency">National Investigation Agency</keyword> (NIA) has said that 90% of <keyword id="6364565" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Fake-Notes">fake notes</keyword> are pumped into India via <keyword id="48515" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Malda">Malda</keyword> border in West Bengal. It also found that most of the notes which entered into the country have been printed in <keyword id="3001" type="COUNTRY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Pakistan">Pakistan</keyword> and were routed to India through <keyword id="6354759" type="COUNTRY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Bangladesh">Bangladesh</keyword>. Around Rs 1,500 crore of counterfeit notes entered India through Malda border, TOI reported, citing NIA which is interrogating a couple of people arrested by the <keyword id="109513" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Border-security-force">Border Security Force</keyword> with such notes. NIA has recently arrested Sajib-ul-Haq (20), Anwar (21), <keyword id="895440" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Jamal-Sheik">Jamal Sheik</keyword> (24) and Akram (19), Habibul Rahaman (26), Abdul Mutalik (25) and Prashant Mondal (23) from Chennai and Hyderabad. 

	Investigators have found that a lot of Pakistanis have set up shops in Bangladesh. These shops are breeding ground for trading such notes which are eventually routed to India. 
 

	Malda is an easy landing point as it borders Bangladesh. This racket has been going on for the past four to five years.
 

	After taking the charge of probe on June 12, the NIA took custody of three people - Soaul, Jhonny Sheik and Shahjahan - all from Malda and brought them to Delhi on transit remand for interrogation.
 

	The probe revealed that there are several modules mainly in the bordering blocks like Kaliachawk, Chachol, Gazol and Manikchawk areas which are active in bringing fake currency notes from Bangladesh.
 

	"After the money comes to the hands of these module operatives, they pick up several youths to execute the job. They go to major cities like Mumbai or Bengaluru and start working as construction labourers. Along with their work they start circulating the notes in installments. They stay on in these cities for a couple of months and manage to circulate at least Rs 2 lakh fake currency," an investigating officer told TOI.
 

	"The commission offered them Rs 100 to Rs 200 for circulating Rs 1,000 fake notes," the officer said. 
 

	The investigators have also found that the quality of the notes was superior, making it very difficult for the common man to understand that it is a fake currency. 
 

	"Sometimes it is even difficult for the bank personnel to realise the difference without a forensic test. This is really alarming," an officer said.

It all started with the 5th Director General level talks between the Border Security Force of <keyword id="3658" type="COUNTRY" weightage="80" keywordseo="India">India</keyword> and General Authority for Border Protection (<keyword id="3105016" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="GABP">GABP</keyword>) of <keyword id="3663" type="COUNTRY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Mongolia">Mongolia</keyword> which held from 17th Aug 2015 and 21th Aug 2015 at Mongolia. 
 
The key decisions that were taken to accomplish the purpose of improving cooperation between GABP, Mongolia and BSF, India.- 
 
• To continue organizing the various types of professional training 
Programs for the Officers of GABP for Border Protection of 
Mongolia. 
• Reciprocal training of BSF Officers by GABP Mongolia for 
Training/ Courses. 
 
Under this newly formed cooperation, two separate teams of five Mongolian officers of Mongolian Border Defense force had started their training with the Indian BSF at Indore and Hazaribagh. A capsule course for Sniper training was organized at Indore and Bomb-Squad &amp; Jungle warfare training was organized at Hazaribagh center. 
 As a <keyword id="32723" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Defence">defence</keyword> and Central Asia expert, I got a chance to be a part of this training which ran from 7TH -18TH September 2015. The Mongolian Sniper training delegation at Indore was headed by Capt. Manlai Bayaraa.

Jaipur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday gave a stern message to the neighbouring countries, saying "no force in the world can stop our brave soldiers from protecting the country's border". "They give a fierce reply if anybody tries to judge their capabilities," said Modi. While noting some historical facts, the Prime Minister said, "The history of the world tells us that only those nations have remained safe, only those nations have moved forward, which had the ability to fight the invaders". The Prime Minister, however, did not take the name of any country, but his indication was almost clear towards China, whose <keyword id="367283" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="People-Liberation-Army">People Liberation Army</keyword> (<keyword id="43746" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="PLA">PLA</keyword>) recently indulged in a deadly clash with the Indian soldiers in the Ladakh region. Chief of Defence Staff Bipin Rawat, Army Chief M.M. Naravane and Border Security Force (BSF) Director General Rakesh Asthana accompanied the Prime Minister at the border during his visit to celebrate Diwali with the army men. Like every year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is celebrating this Diwali also with the soldiers. He will distribute sweets and share their problems and listen to their views during his visit to Jaisalmer later in the day. About 100 BSF troops along with the army men are participating in the celebrations. Last year, the Prime Minister had visited Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district to celebrate Diwali with the men guarding the Line of Control (LoC). Modi was at the border positions of Uttarakhand to celebrate Diwali with the forces in 2018. He visited the Gurez sector of north Kashmir in 2017 and spent his Diwali with soldiers deployed there.
