Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that India is moving towards becoming a leader in <keyword id="6319489" type="General" weightage="70" keywordseo="6g-technology" source="Orion">6G technology</keyword>, adding that the future is here and now. <keyword id="2238662" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="pm-modi" source="Orion">PM Modi</keyword> said this while inaugurating the <keyword id="4254251" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="Indian-Mobile-Congress" source="Orion">Indian Mobile Congress</keyword> (IMC). "We are not only expanding 5G in the country but also moving in the direction of becoming leaders in the area of <keyword id="7268171" type="General" weightage="70" keywordseo="6g" source="Orion">6G</keyword> technology. Everyone knows what happened during the 2G (referring to the spectrum allocation scam during the UPA regime). During our government, 4G was expanded but there was no stain on us. I am confident that India will lead the world in 6G technology," he said. The Prime Minister added that whether it is telecom, technology, or connectivity or whether it is 6G, AI, cybersecurity, semiconductors, drones or space sector, the future is going to be very different. "Within a year of the launch of 5G, nearly four lakh 5G base stations have been working today. They are covering 97% of the cities and more than 80% of the population," Modi said. Speaking further, PM Modi said that the world is using 'Made in India' phones while referring to the transformation which has taken in the recent past in the telecom sector. "Recently, Google has announced the manufacturing of its Pixel phone in India. Samsung's Fold 5 mobile phone and Apple's iPhone 15 are being manufactured in India. We are proud that the world is using Made in India mobile phones now," PM Modi said. India has become an exporter from a net importer, he added. "India has reached 43rd position in mobile broadband speed from the previous rank of 118," PM Modi said, adding that 2014 (when NDA came to power) is not a date, it is 'badlav' (change). Referring to various measures of the government, the Prime Minister said that access to capital, access to resources and access to technology is the government's priority. During the programme, PM Modi awarded 100 '5G Use Case Labs' to educational institutions across the country.

The healthcare platform was created by students of the <keyword id="472692" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Birla-Institute-of-Technology-and-Science">Birla Institute of Technology and Science</keyword> (BITS), Pilani in <keyword id="6355588" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="rajasthan">Rajasthan</keyword>. Anurag Prasad, Vaibhav Singh, Shashvat Tripari and Chetan Anand came up with the idea of the AI-powered chatbot that dispenses health advice in 2016. The ‘advice’ it gives out is based on assisting doctors and learning from them. Stone <a href="https://medium.com/@biz/why-im-investing-in-visit-d3296c45d293">explains</a>, “People interact with the ‘Visit’ chatbot by sharing some symptoms. The bot follows up with relevant questions to collect more symptoms and risk factors (is the person hypertensive, diabetic, a smoker). This triaging is conversational and low stress.” How does Visit work? Visit takes queries from multiple people and learns from them. Since many queries will be the same, it allows the AI to learn more and pick patterns. In order to do so, Visit dispenses advice based on over 20,000 probabilistic relationships between variables (variables being family history, symptoms, conditions etc). This implies that if you have certain symptoms that may be more pertinent to a pre-existing condition in the family, then the probability calculations of that situation would be skewed to take that into consideration. The bot takes into account factors such as symptoms, risk factors, patient history, living conditions etc. Once the bot is able to determine which medical condition needs to be addressed, it connects the patient to a health specialist from anywhere across the country. Visit currently has over 2,000 doctors who can be contacted via video chat, phone or text. And it’s not a one-time deal. Patients will apparently have the option of keeping in touch with their practitioner for a follow-up. Stone also adds, “The objective is not to replace the doctor but to help practitioners in an assistive way by regular patient check-ins and reminders related to their care plan.” According to him, the goal behind Visit is to address the shortage of doctors in the nation using AI. In support of which he wrote - “Accessibility to quality health care advice is an overwhelming problem in a country with over 200 million people affected by lifestyle problems like stress, chronic conditions, obesity, skin conditions and more. This is where the technology approach by ‘Visit’ comes in.” The situation in India is <a href="http://indianexpress.com/article/india/less-than-one-doctor-for-1000-population-in-india-government-tells-lok-sabha-4760892/">reportedly</a> as bad a 921 patients per doctor. Platforms like Visit could make it easier for people to access healthcare services and doctors, exponentially. Visit isn’t alone in its endeavour. Many online consultancy services such as quickconsult, Practo, Portea and Zoylo already exist but they’re still depend on man-power exclusively. Visit has the potential to be largely self-reliant once the AI has reached a point where it has enough information.

Delhi-based health startup gets investment from Twitter co-founder

The company is looking to raise ₹170 crore out of which ₹140 crore is through fresh issue ₹30 crore is through offer for sale (OFS) by the promoters. The IPO has received very strong response from investors especially from qualified institutional buyers and non-institutional investors. Investors have bid for 217 crore shares against the 71.40 crore shares on offer. The portion for qualified institutional investors was subscribed 169.65 times while the non-institutional investor category received a bid for 927.70 times. The company is primarily engaged in the designing, developing, manufacturing, and testing of a variety of defence and space engineering products and solutions. Rakesh Jhunjhunwaala-backed Nazara Technologies IPO subscribed by 175 times

The final placement season of the institute saw the participation of 411 students, who received over 450 offers across job profiles from the top recruiters. A total of 162 pre-placement offers were given to the students before the beginning of the final placements based on their performances during the summer internship out of which 133 offers were accepted by the students. 
 
 Global banks 
 IIM Bangalore played host to most leading global banks on the first-day of the Final Placements. Goldman Sachs made 14 offers, including PPOs. Citi Bank, <keyword id="6358584" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="HSBC">HSBC</keyword>, Morgan Stanley and Standard Chartered were the other key participants. Among banks and financial firms, <keyword id="91294" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="American-Express">American Express</keyword> made eight offers followed by YES Bank, ICICI Bank, Visa, and so on. 
 
Consulting companies 
 In the strategy consulting domain, the <keyword id="136162" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Boston-Consulting-Group">Boston Consulting Group</keyword> led with 20 offers (including PPOs) followed by Accenture Strategy, McKinsey &amp; Co, Bain &amp; Company, Deloitte and AT Kearney. 
 
Indian conglomerates 
 Indian groups were led by the <keyword id="6359480" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Aditya-Birla">Aditya Birla</keyword> Group, followed by Wipro Global, Bharti Airtel, Mahindra Group, Tata Administrative Services and <keyword id="6355199" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Reliance-Industries">Reliance Industries</keyword>. 
 
New recruiters 
 
New recruiters were by Sprinklr making six offers followed by Sterlite Power, BNY Mellon, Power Finance, Vedanta and others. 
 
Sales and Marketing 
 Many students opted for Sales and Marketing roles and were extended offers by major consumer goods firms led by Anheuser-Busch Inbev. Other leading recruiters in this category were Proctor &amp; Gamble, <keyword id="6365619" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hindustan-UniLever">Hindustan Unilever</keyword>, ITC, Johnson &amp; Johnson and Marico. 
 
Technology 
 Prominent recruiters in the technology space included Samsung, Tech Mahindra, Microsoft, WNS, Directi, Sterlite Technologies, Microland, Sasken, UnitedHealth Group, Schneider Electric, Phillips, <keyword id="369118" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Robert-Bosch">Robert Bosch</keyword>, Honeywell and Sutherland Global. Capgemini, IBM Consulting and Cognizant Business were the top recruiters in IT consulting. 
 
E-commerce 
 
E-commerce players showed reduced interest compared to last year, with Amazon leading with 12 offers. Other key recruiters included Ola Cabs, Paytm, Myntra and Uber (1). Analytics recruiters included Mu Sigma (1) and Bridgei2i (1). 
 
The healthcare sector saw offers from Dr Reddy’s, and from the real-estate sector offers were made by Nitesh Estates and Altisource Ocwen.

From Tech and FMCG firms to Banks, Consulting Groups, it's raining jobs at IIM Bangalore

<ul><li>IPOs like Indigo Paints, Mrs Bectors Food, Chemcon Speciality Chemicals which got huge institutional demand during IPOs are down 14%-27% since listing.</li><li>Some of the IPOs where institutional players subscribed for more than 100 times the shares on offer, are in deep red right now.</li><li>Ujjivan Small Finance is one among such stocks, which is down 44% after more than a year of going public.</li></ul>Initial public offerings (IPOs) that get huge demand from institutional players are believed to be more valuable as investors trust their stock picking skills. However, this does not stand true in some cases. The Zomato IPO, for instance, saw institutional investors oversubscribing the issue by over 52 times. The shares of Zomato have gained over 6% since the listing. While one has to wait and watch if the stock lives up to the expectations, there are many other examples that show that the excitement of institutional investors does not assure good returns for retail investors who buy and hold shares. Some of the recent superhit IPOs like Indigo Paints, Mrs Bectors Food, Chemcon Speciality Chemicals, Ujjivan Small Finance Bank received more than 110 times subscription from qualified institutional buyers (QIBs). Commercial banks, public financial institutions, mutual fund houses and foreign portfolio investors registered with India’s market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) fall under this category. The recently released rankings unveiled the top 75 institutes in India for higher education. The first position was given to IIT-Bombay followed by Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru. Among the top 10 institutions are seven IITs located in Bombay, Delhi, Madras, Kanpur and Kharagpur, IISc Bengaluru, University of Hyderabad and the University of Delhi. The <a href="https://www.topuniversities.com/universities/indian-institute-technology-bombay-iitb">overall scores given to IIT-Bombay was 48.5</a> which were derived from indicators like academic reputation (52.5), employer reputation (72.9), faculty-student numbers (43.3), citations per faculty (54.1), international students (4.1) and internal faculty (1.8). IIT-Bombay stands at 162nd position in QS’ global rankings. Jawaharlal Nehru University was excluded from the ranking as it focuses more on research. The QS India ranking is specially designed to reveal the positions of institutions focusing on graduation or post graduation. Surprisingly, The only private institute to make it to the top 20 list was Birla Institute of Science and Technology As per the report, twenty out of seventy-five <keyword id="5111110" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Institution">Indian institution</keyword> have scored full marks for recruiting highly qualified staff with PhD degrees. Further, nine students scored 98.4 in paper per faculty, an indicator which assesses research productivity. Why specific rankings for India? QS India ranking is the second region-specific ranking by QS after China. The British organisation has recently decided to bring out country-specific rankings beginning with China, India, South Korea, Japan and Mexico. The region-specific rankings are a response to the increasing demand of information from within the nation rather than in the global context. India’s educational system has witnessed a massive change over the last decade. It is the third largest higher-education hub housing thousands of universities across the country.  The forum was attended by Finance Minister <keyword id="42575" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arun-Jaitley">Arun Jaitley</keyword>, along with industry leaders from across the world who gathered to discuss the potential for growth and business in Asia. 
 
Speaking on the occasion, the Finance Minister said, “Innovation and services will bring jobs even as manufacturing turns high-tech. The nature of manufacturing and job creation itself will change. Government is committed to making India's tax regime stable and predictable.” 
 Highlighting the government’s ongoing reforms, Mr. Jaitley said, “Second generation reforms began two years ago to realise India's true potential. What we have realized is that unreasonable tax demands never bring revenue. In a federal system it is difficult to get states to surrender taxation power. As far as indirect tax regime is concerned, <keyword id="6354679" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="GST">GST</keyword> is the big tool; it will bring reform in the way we do business. Even if India's GST model is watered down, we have to start somewhere,” he added. 
 Speaking on the benefits of the <keyword id="6354869" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="make-in-India">Make in India</keyword> Week, Mr. Jaitley stressed that the importance of making in India will only be realized when it’s benchmarked to the world. While making in India has got it’s impetus from the Modi government, infrastructure is an obstacle on the road to manufacturing. Lack of good infrastructure makes it difficult for businesses to operate. The Finance Minister said that the government has covered a huge distance in terms of infrastructure – be it ports, highways or rural networks, and has increased public spending in the past few months. 
 
The government is concentrating on infrastructure in a big way. Railways and highways have been net beneficiaries of public spending while sectors like power have benefited from private investment. In the months to come, rural reforms will also be taken up. 
 
Speaking on agriculture, Mr. Jaitley observed that agriculture is one sector where investment yields faster results. “Investment in this sector has been relatively less in the past but the government is now focusing on areas of investment in agriculture - on rural roads, electrification and irrigation,” he said. 
 
Speaking of ailing public units, the finance minister said that the State will not get out of the banking business. Addressing the question on the need for their existence, Mr. Jaitley said that these banks are important for the purpose of geographical reach. However, these banks and their boards have to be professionalized. “Digital technology should be used to remove income inequality.” 
 
Exploring new ideas, technology and leadership skills that will shape India’s economic and social future, Cisco’s John Chambers said, "Every company in this world will become a tech company. 40% of today's non-tech companies will disappear in the next 10 years. Eighteen months ago, I said if you want to bet on one country, it is India as the country is in sync with the speed of innovation in the current digital age. Anticipating the market and adapting to change in market dynamics, India is moving at a fast pace in the digital era. Regardless of political divides, Indians have to come together for growth. If you still haven't invested in India you may miss the bus.” 
 Sharing his views on the government’s campaign ‘Make in India’, <keyword id="46425" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Anand-Mahindra">Anand Mahindra</keyword>, Chairman, <keyword id="6355744" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mahindra-Group">Mahindra Group</keyword>, said, “Make in India is not a mandate but a rallying cry. The government is trying to draw attention of investors. All I say is that you cannot mandate innovation. All the government needs to do is put in regulation and institutions, and then leave the rest to business. Speaking of the possible impact of an increase in manufacturing on the environment, Mr. Mahindra observed that more investments are going to flow into companies that are carbon neutral. 
 
“India is a highly innovative place,” said Banmali Agrawala, President &amp; CEO, South Asia, GE, speaking on behalf of a manufacturing pioneer which is creating jobs and building factories around the globe. “We're pressing the pedal on getting digital.” 
 Throwing light on the investment climate of the country, Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman, <keyword id="6359480" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Aditya-Birla">Aditya Birla</keyword> Group said, “We as a country are highly innovative. It is part of our DNA. We have a government here which is focusing on more on manufacturing than ever before. The government wants to be a catalyst through its ‘Make in India’ initiatives. Today, several new opportunities have opened up for the private sector in India, which cannot be ignored.”

<ul><li><keyword id="44903" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="shiv-nadar" source="Orion">Shiv Nadar</keyword> made donations worth ₹1,161 crore during FY22, which comes up to ₹3 crore per day.</li><li>Wipro’s <keyword id="6419840" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="azim-premji" source="Orion">Azim Premji</keyword> slips to the second spot with an annual donation of ₹484 crore as his contribution towards philanthropy has fallen by 95% year-on-year.</li><li>Overall, contributions towards philanthropy have fallen in FY22 because of the pandemic impact.</li><li>The top 10 list cumulatively donated ₹3,378 crore in FY22, as against a combined donation of ₹12,785 crore last year.</li></ul>Shiv Nadar, the founder and chairman of HCL Technologies, is India’s most generous, with donations of ₹3 crore per day, even as contributions towards philanthropy continue to moderate after the pandemic. With an annual contribution of ₹1,161 crore in fiscal 2022, Shiv Nadar has displaced Wipro’s Azim Premji as the most generous Indian, according to the EdelGive <keyword id="3606268" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="hurun-india-philanthropy-list" source="Orion">Hurun India Philanthropy List</keyword> 2022. The top 10 list cumulatively donated ₹3,378 crore in FY22, as against a combined donation of ₹12,785 crore last year. The good news is that the list has seen 19 new additions, with total donations by these new entrants adding up to ₹832 crore. Also, six women have featured on the list this year. The youngest philanthropist on the list is 36-year-old Nikhil Kamath of Zerodha. Clearly, the young entrepreneurs are beginning their philanthropic journey early on unlike many others from corporate India. Nadar’s philanthropic efforts have mainly focussed on education. Overall, contributions towards philanthropy have fallen in FY22 because of the pandemic impact. Nadar’s donation too is down 8% in the fiscal year 2021-22, as per the list. Wipro’s Azim Premji slipped to the second spot with an annual donation of ₹484 crore as his contribution towards philanthropy has fallen by 95% year-on-year due to the exceptional share buy-back in 2021, says the report. Billionaire <keyword id="3820" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="mukesh-ambani" source="Orion">Mukesh Ambani</keyword>, the chairman of Reliance Industries, is third on the list with contributions totalling ₹411 crore. Ambani’s contribution fell 29% compared to last year. Kumar Mangalam Birla was fourth on the list with a contribution of ₹242 crore. Couples Susmita &amp; Subroto Bagchi and Radha &amp; NS Parthasarathy from Mindtree’s management debuted on the list with a combined donation of ₹426 crore to the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and also entered the top 10 and were ranked fifth. Both Subroto and Parthasarathy are co-founders of Mindtree. With a donation of ₹190 crore, <keyword id="111343" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="gautam-adani" source="Orion">Gautam Adani</keyword> &amp; family ranks seventh on the EdelGive Hurun India Philanthropy List 2022. Next in line is Anil Agarwal &amp; family of Vedanta whose contribution increased by 27% from last year to ₹165 crore. Nandan Nilekani and his wife Rohini Nilekani are ranked ninth and eleventh, respectively, in the list and are active philanthropists. Larsen &amp; Toubro’s group executive chairman AM Naik is ranked tenth with a donation of ₹142 crore in FY22. While many billionaires of the past have turned generous later in life, some new-age tech entrepreneurs are giving away much earlier. <keyword id="1430802" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nithin-kamath" source="Orion">Nithin Kamath</keyword> and Nikhil Kamath of Zerodha increased their donation by a whopping 300% to ₹100 crore during the year. At 36 years, Nikhil Kamath is the youngest philanthropist on the Hurun list. Another surprise entrant this year has been Rakesh Gangwal, the co-promoter of InterGlobe Aviation (company that owns Indigo Airlines). Gangwal debuted this year with a personal contribution of ₹100 crore to the School of Medical Sciences and Technology at IIT, Kanpur. “EdelGive Hurun India Philanthropy List aims at chronicling the Indian philanthropy landscape and so far the transformation is encouraging. For instance, over the last 5 years, (the) number of donors who have given more than ₹100 crore have grown from 2 to 15, and over ₹50 crore have grown from 5 to 20.
