When two major e-tailers like <keyword id="18635" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amazon">Amazon</keyword> and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Flipkarts-Big-Billion-Days-kicks-off-with-10-lakh-products-sold-under-10-hrs-already/articleshow/49334726.cms">Flipkart </a>go on war, they don’t leave any stone unturned to outdo the other. While we have heard a lot about what <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword> has done to make this years’ Big Billion sale a huge success, today we got some interesting news from Amazon’s stable too. The e-tailer has tripled its warehousing capacity to 5 million cubic feet and lined-up over 1 million products for next-day delivery. 
 <keyword id="6354743" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amazon-India">Amazon India</keyword> head Amit Agarwal says they want customers to have a gala time this year. He says, "It would be great deals for customers, ensuring that sellers have a blockbuster time, ensuring that we provide a great experience — we believe that this will be the greatest sale India has ever seen." 
 
To magnetise customers through its mobile application, Amazon will also offer one kilogram of gold to the daily winners during sale days. Agrawal refused to divulge details about the quantum of deals, offers and discounts that will be available during sale days etc. 
 
All that he shared was this, "Thousands of deals will be available every hour during the five-day mega sale. We believe that millions of new customers are going to come. Based on our experience from the last two sales, more than 60% of our customers come from Tier II and Tier III cities." 
 
While explaining its planning and strategy for the mega sale, Amazon said that it has been enrolling a number of vendors from past several months. "More than 25,000 sellers queued up in the last two months to participate in this," said Agarwal. 
 
To build up its seller-base, Amazon offered Chai Carts – free tea and coffee painted with company logo – to the business owners while telling them the advantages of selling online. Around two dozen Chai Carts have travelled over 31,000 kilometres in 21 cities by now. 
 
"It is our version of Chai Pe Charcha," Agarwal said, referring to Narendra Modi's discussions with people over tea as part of the BJP's audience-building measures in last year's election. 
 
Seattle-based Amazon said it has tied up with about 2,000 small traders such as mom-and-pop stores, bakeries, travel agencies and pharmacists in 50 cities as pick-up points for products and has signed up non-governmental organisations, among others, as last-mile delivery partners.

Sachin and Binny bansal’s <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword> <keyword id="2546653" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Big-Billion-Day">Big Billion Day</keyword> was a bubble waiting to burst. The sale that was touted as the biggest sale in India by shoppers across the country seems to have disappointed many. According to consumers shopping on Flipkart, the website has been facing several technical glitches, which ultimately led to the website crash. 
	 
	The distressed shoppers took to Twitter and Facebook to express their disappointment. One such tweet @i_theindian read, “just in: even Rajinikanth failed to log-on to flipkart! #bigbillionday #flipkartsale #ullubanawing”. Similarly, another tweet by another customer read, “on #flipkart #bigbillionday I can only see billion error messages "500 server error, 502 that's an error" site's unusable. What's the point?”. 
	 
	However, this may be just one of the miniscule problems for the e-tailer, who is also being criticized for not offering great deals. Many consumers have claimed that the discounts offered are not genuine. “#bigbillionday its not too late yet @flipkart ! to save all the dignity &amp; respect you had earned, just start giving away some real steals :)”, tweeted a shopper. 
	 
	Another such tweet read, “let me know if somebody is selling achhe din on #flipkart or #checksnapdealtoday or #bigbillionday too”. 
	 Additionally, it is being alleged that eCommerce major has not offered deals that were advertised by it in the media. “The flipkart sale is as big a hoax. While the Moto series phones are on site as advertised, no other product is on discount as advertised. Some are out of stock, some aren't listed at all, and then the comparison sites tell that online prices of fashion products went up three days back to facilitate this sale. Be careful before you press that pay button,” ad man Naresh Gupta, managing partner of a leading creative agency <keyword id="1033490" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bang-in-the-Middle">Bang In The Middle</keyword>, posted on Facebook. 
	 
	Making fun of the sale, he joked, “Breaking news: Idea mobile releases a new song to celebrate online sales. it says mil kar ullu banaouing। ‪#‎hoaxzila”. 
	 
	 
	 On the other hand, its rival <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword> has been faring well. Many of the consumers, who have been waiting for flipkart’s mega sale today, have moved to the online marketplace to shop. Chinmay Vaidya, another online shopper tweeted, “ ‏@snapdeal i hate @flipkart, let’s see what have you got #checksnapdealtoday”. 
	 
	Sharing a similar sentiment, another such twitteratti posted “huge upset to #flipkart #bigbillionday ..#checksnapdealtoday is trending no.1.. by the way, don’t forget to #checksnapdealtoday”. 
	 
	Reports have suggested that Flipkart has been heavily advertising for the day and made huge investments in the technology and logistics for Monday’s mega sale. The company has also put together nearly 10,000 people as its field staff to meet the delivery orders today. The big billion day sale started at 8 am in the morning and is expected to get over by midnight.

Amazon and Snapdeal are starting the festive sale season tomorrow ie. 1st of October while Flipkart is starting it on the 2nd. What will be interesting to see is who will not only give the best discounts and cashback but who will deliver on their services with no glitches? After the 2014 technical glitches at the Flipkart Big Billion Sale, we hope the sale-ing is smooth for this e-commerce player. 
 
Online marketplaces Flipkart, Amazon, and Snapdeal are ready for their annual festival sales starting the first week of October with Amazon.

Flipkart attacking Snapdeal, Amazon shows the e-commerce festive war has
already begun.

India’s two biggest <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=e-Commerce+rivals+Flipkart+and+Snapdeal+">e-Commerce rivals Flipkart and Snapdeal</a> recently shocked everyone by indulging in a friendly exchange of tweets ahead of the <keyword id="36208" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="festive-season">festive season</keyword>, starting this week. They both are well prepared to take on each other and make most of the festive period by coming up with <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=lucrative+sale+offers">lucrative sale offers</a>. 
 
Both the companies had claimed last year that they had sold products worth about Rs 600 crore during the festive season. 
 
On Sunday, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Snapdeal%27s+chief+product+officer+Anand+Chandrasekaran">Snapdeal's chief product officer Anand Chandrasekaran</a> tried to sneak into its rival website and found <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword>'s website being temporarily unavailable. He tweeted a picture of the website and said: "Guess this is part of the app only strategy." 
 
As expected after a few hours, a reply came from <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Flipkart%27s+chief+product+officer+Punit+Soni">Flipkart's chief product officer Punit Soni</a>. He said: "Anand, my friend :) we were testing our servers to prep for BBD (Big Billion Day). Sorry you had issues. Best of luck for the festival season!" 
 
Flipkart’s 2015 #BigBillionDay sale kicked off on Tuesday, and is app-only, meaning that even though people can browse the website, they will need to download the Flipkart app on their phones to actually avail any discounts. 
 
Now let’s know what happened to the conversation between the two rivals! 
 Chandrasekaran replied back, wishing his counterpart good luck for the festive season. He said: "<keyword id="278552" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Punit-Soni">Punit Soni</keyword> got it, it looked like web users were being left out in an app-only focus." 
 <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword> was the first to kick-off the sale offer this year with a promotion called ‘Electronics Monday’, promising fabulous offers and discounts on products ranging from smartphones to kitchen appliances. 
 
According to the e-tailer, it would bring a set of mega deals for consumers every Monday across different categories till Diwali. 
 
Amazon India is also coming up with sale offers.

Flipkart and Snapdeal are at it again, but this time for ‘friendly’ exchange of 'tweets'

This week has seen it all. First Flipkart starting the proceedings for the week by dishing out the Big Billion Day sale, making big moolah, getting trolled by competitors and facing barrage from upset buyers. Round two of this episode, sees Amazon facing backlash from Flipkart which hardly comes as a surprise to anyone. 
 
Anyone managing to sell products with hefty discounts (ranging up to 50% in some cases) are sure to attract negative and positive criticism. Making things a bit more interesting, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Flipkarts-MegaSale-Faces-Backlash-Snapdeal-Gains-Edge/articleshow/44499866.cms">Snapdeal and Amazon not-so-quietly managed to make a name for themselves</a> amidst the confusion that was a constant feature of the Big Billion day sale on October 6. 
 
Amazon went to the extent of buying the bigbillionday.in to troll Flipkart’s misery in open sight and now, we have Flipkart paying back the favour to the US-based retailer with its purchase of diwalidhamaka.co.in domain that directly takes you to the Flipkart homepage. On the hindsight, Flipkart’s deals were much more appealing to consumers with regards to their pricing, in comparison to the deals that were being offered by Amazon today. 
 
At the end of the day, it’s hard to comment on who came out as big winners but nevertheless, Flipkart managed to open up sales avenues for the e-commerce fraternity that could become a common sight in the near future. <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/What-Amazon-in-And-Snapdeal-com-Should-Learn-From-The-FlipKart-Blunder/articleshow/44615277.cms">There are lessons to be learnt</a> ( a lot of them) and now we’ll have to wait for the next move to happen from these respective online shopping sites. 
 
Update: Turns out, diwalidhamaka.co.in is now redirecting to Amazon India site and Flipkart has no affiliation to the site. The domain is actually owned by person named Anjali from some part of the country (details protected). The domain play was some kind of prank played, keeping the whole e-commerce battle in relevance.

It opened its official India website in June 2014. The next month, Flipkart &#xa0;<a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/former-amazon-executives-flipkart-2014-7" target="_blank">raised a mammoth $1 billion</a>&#xa0;funding round. Exactly one day later, Amazon said it planned to pour&#xa0;<a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/r-amazon-to-invest-2-billion-more-in-india-as-e-commerce-race-heats-up-2014-30">$2 billion into its Indian operations</a>.The companies' track-record spurred some friendly fire Friday when Reddit India tweeted a picture of an Amazon box in Flipkart's HQ. The company also bought ads for the keyword "Flipkart" so people would see its products when searching for Flipkart's deals, <a href="http://www.dnaindia.com/scitech/report-did-amazon-try-to-cleverly-hijack-flipkart-s-big-billion-day-sale-2023959">DNAIndia reported at the time</a>.&#xa0;Funny exchanges aside, international growth is serious business for Amazon. CFO Tom Szkutak said that Amazon was "very excited about India" in the company's Q4 earnings call, but investors and analysts aren't impressed with its growth rate abroad.&#xa0;"International revenue growth continues to be a mystery and is a confusing part of the Amazon story,"<a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/amazon-international-growth-2015-2"> analysts at investment firm Stifel wrote in a post-earnings note</a>."Could you just help us understand why the international performance is so much weaker?" one analyst&#xa0;<a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/amazon-q4-earnings-report-2015-1">asked on Amazon's Q4 earnings call</a>.&#xa0;Besides Flipkart, Snapdeal, which has eBay backing, and Jabong are also significant local competitors in India.
