Why do we take U-turn? Before we jump in to analyze Aadhar and its allied insecurity, let’s get straight into philosophy of contradictions. What characterizes a critical thinker?  Perhaps U-turns are a necessary ingredient for triggering intellectual blunders. And nobody better than <keyword id="41281" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="NDA">NDA</keyword> government knows that most of us struggle to maintain stability in psychological unity. And at such a juncture, contradictions produce destabilizing breaches in the self. 
 
How the government wants to go with Aadhar? 
The 12-digit number will be required for all citizens of India to file tax returns, driving licenses, filing EPF, getting railway tickets and a variety of other services. 
 
 
 
Why is it alarming? 
Firstly, we need to do understand how Aadhar cards were made. Terming the procedure as causal wouldn’t be an exaggeration. A card that started as a mere identity card was gradually made into a mechanism to gain benefits from the government and now even to get basic things done in life. 
 
The process of registering people on Aadhar was executed through private enterprises known as enrollers who operated freely without any government supervision at the field level. The qualifications needed to become an enrolment agency were quite low and nobody was from a recognized name. 
 Also with the case of whether Aadhar would be mandatory for all these services still pending in the <keyword id="6354977" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Supreme-Court">Supreme Court</keyword>, taking such a move would be no less than violations of <keyword id="42836" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="SC">SC</keyword> guidelines. 
 Besides, there is zero privacy of an individual. Aadhar doesn’t guarantee any privacy and allows for mass surveillance of the countrymen under the vague term of ‘national security’. Only law that is valid in the case is Section 47 that only <keyword id="86474" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Unique-Identification-Authority-of-India">Unique Identification Authority of India</keyword> (UIDAI) can file criminal complaint for theft of data. 
 
Government is the new <keyword id="4646" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Big-Boss">Big Boss</keyword> 
No you aren’t criminal that you would need to hide. But let’s admit it nobody wants to be tracked by a big brother. Imagine the scene when somebody knows how much you earn and spend, where you holiday and which flight did you take on your last office trip, which hotel did you put up and what broadband do you use. And for many people in the country who work on contracts and you will track every penny you earn even if you don’t work throughout the year. 
 And for the people who defend the bill saying you can share your personal data with <keyword id="6355629" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Google">Google</keyword> and <keyword id="6354576" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Facebook">Facebook</keyword>, then why not with government? Tell them, there is a difference between choice and compulsion. And one can just track you and the other one can prevent you.

Even while prepping his new-born political outfit, Makkal Needhi Maiam, for the big fight in 2019, Haasan remained a regular in the Tamil version of the hit television franchise Big Boss — <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/entertainment/news/from-koffee-with-karan-to-big-boss-tamil-these-are-the-most-watched-indian-shows-on-hotstar-in-2019/articleshow/72467615.cms" data-type="tilCustomLink" target="_blank">one of the most-watched shows on Hotstar</a> last year. That kept the money flowing in as well as put him in people's living rooms every week ahead of the election. However, the party didn't win a single seat in Tamil Nadu but Haasan and his comrades continue to soldier on with an eye on the upcoming state assembly election in 2021. Meanwhile, Haasan also started work on the sequel to the 1996 blockbuster Indian and the movie is currently under production. As it were, while he preached that people <a href="https://www.thehindu.com/news/dont-sell-your-future-says-kamal-haasan/article5804250.ece" data-type="tilCustomLink" target="_blank">should not sell their votes for cash</a>, his annual revenue fell 20% to ₹20 crore in 2019 and the annual profit after tax went down 25% to ₹9 crore in 2019, compared to a year earlier, according to a <a href="https://www.crisil.com/mnt/winshare/Ratings/RatingList/RatingDocs/Kamal_Haasan_January_10_2020_RR.html" data-type="tilCustomLink" target="_blank">ratings report</a> released by Crisil. While rating a fresh bank loan of ₹25 crore (about $350 million) that will be payable in September 2024, the ratings agency described Haasan as "proprietorship firm with interests in directing, acting, and producing mainly involved in Tamil film industry." As a propreitorship firm is not separate from the owner, by definition. So what does the future look like for Haasan? Cash accrual is expected at ₹7 crore to ₹8 crore in the 'medium term' (usually means longer than a year), according to Crisil. However, more than half of that amount will be needed to repay debt before March 2020. In November 2019, <a href="https://www.republicworld.com/entertainment-news/bollywood-news/kamalhaasantheestimatednetworthofthechachi420actor.html" data-type="tilCustomLink" target="_blank">Haasan's net worth was estimated </a>at $100 million (₹700 crore). But according to Crisil's latest report, his debt is 1.64 times his net worth. Forbes, while ranking him at 56 in the list of India's richest celebrities, estimated his earnings for 2019 at ₹34 crore. By that metric, Haasan's net worth will be about ₹15 crore, assuming there are no loans other than one mentioned in the report. Attempts to reach out to Crisil for clarification on the disparity failed. The story will be updated with Crisil's response, if any. The good news is that he makes 12 times more money every year than what is required to cover the interest. On the other hand, "volatility in profitability and revenue, inherent in the film industry, will continue to impact the firm, since the income is based on the ongoing films and other programmes," according to Crisil. Being focused on results</h3><a href="https://hbr.org/2016/02/theres-a-proven-link-between-effective-leadership-and-getting-enough-sleep">The report</a> points to <a href="http://oem.bmj.com/content/57/10/649.short">research</a> that shows how sleep deprivation is comparable to intoxication in the way it impairs cognitive abilities.The individual performance on a range of tasks of people who are awake for 17 to 19 hours, for example, is equivalent to that of a person with a blood alcohol level of 0.05%, the legal drinking limit in many countries.Beyond 20 hours of being awake, the same person's performance is comparable to someone with a blood alcohol level of 0.1%, which meets the legal definition of drunk in the US, the report says.To be results oriented, the report suggests, you need to be able to focus, avoid distractions, and see the bigger picture, something that would be very difficult to do if you were essentially drunk on the job.<h3>2. Solving problems effectively</h3>The McKinsey report points to other studies, which find that <a href="http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2891532/">eight hours of sleep</a> leads to new insights, <a href="http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/v427/n6972/full/nature02223.html">afternoon naps</a> help creative problem solving, and <a href="http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3885559/">REM sleep</a> is directly linked to creative thinking, all of which are key in effectively solving problems.<h3>3. Seeking out different perspectives</h3>Sleep affects all three stages of the learning process: before learning, it helps your brain encode new information; after learning, it helps your brain consolidate information and form new connections; and before remembering, it helps to retrieve information from memory, researchers say."These processes are critical to the ability to seek, encode, and consolidate different perspectives," <a href="https://hbr.org/2016/02/theres-a-proven-link-between-effective-leadership-and-getting-enough-sleep">the researchers write.</a>According to the researchers, sleep <a href="http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0112056">has also been shown</a> to improve decision making in situations that involve weighing different options and avoiding tunnel vision."<a href="http://walkerlab.berkeley.edu/reprints/WalkerVanDerHelm_PsychBull_2009.pdf">Science supports</a> the commonly heard advice that rather than making an important decision or sending a sensitive email late at night, you should sleep on it," <a href="https://hbr.org/2016/02/theres-a-proven-link-between-effective-leadership-and-getting-enough-sleep">the researchers write</a>.<h3>4. Supporting others</h3>The report points to more research that suggests sleep deprivation negatively affects your emotional state. When you lack sleep, your brain is <a href="http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2831427/">more likely to</a> misinterpret facial or vocal cues and overreact to emotional events. You're <a href="http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21886361">more likely to</a> express your feelings in a more negative manner and tone of voice. <a href="http://citeseerx.ist.psu.edu/viewdoc/download?doi=10.1.1.182.2845&amp;rep=rep1&amp;type=pdf">You're less likely</a> to fully trust someone else. And when you're the boss, your employees <a href="https://hbr.org/2014/11/research-your-abusive-boss-is-probably-an-insomniac">are less likely</a> to feel engaged with their work.It's hard to support others emotionally when you're struggling with your own emotions.All four of these behaviors add up to high-quality executive teams, and as a result, are a strong predictor of a robust bottom line, the McKinsey researchers say.
