Airtel announces IQ Video platform, to enable businesses to build video streaming products

New Delhi, May 25 () Bharti Airtel promoter firm Bharti Telecom plans to raise USD 1 billion through equity sale to become debt free, according to a source aware of the development. The promoter firm Bharti Telecom plans to dilute 2.75 per cent stake with floor price of Rs 558 per share through secondary placement. "Bharti Telecom has roped in JP Morgan for the raising USD 1 billion by selling 150 million equity shares at a price of Rs 558 per cent per unit. It is a discount of six per cent on closing price of Rs 593.2 apiece as on May 22," the source told . The USD 1 billion raise will make the promoter of Bharti Airtel debt free. Bharti Telecom holds around 41 per cent stake in Bharti Airtel, while foreign promoter entities own 21.46 per cent stake in the telecom firm. Public shareholders have around 37 per cent stake in the company. Sunil Bharti Mittal and his family own around 52 per cent stake in Bharti Telecom. Bharti Airtel promoter to raise USD 1 billion through equity: Sources

New Delhi, Nov 20 () Shares of Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel remained in heavy demand on Wednesday, with the former surging up to 32 per cent, after announcing a hike in mobile phone call and data charges from December.
 Vodafone Idea shares zoomed 31.72 per cent to Rs 7.93 on the BSE. This is the fourth consecutive day of rise in Vodafone Idea shares. During this time, the scrip has more than doubled.
 Bharti Airtel also rose 3.11 per cent to hit its 52-week high of Rs 452.95, registering its fourth consecutive day of gain. In four days, the stock has gained 24.90 per cent.
 Faced with intense competition and unprecedented statutory dues, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea on Monday announced a hike in mobile phone call and data charges from December saying the increase was warranted for viability of their business.
 "To ensure that its customers continue to enjoy world class digital experiences, Vodafone Idea will suitably increase the prices of its tariffs effective December 1, 2019," Vodafone Idea had said.
 The telecom sector is highly capital-intensive with fast-changing technology cycles that require continuing investments, Bharti Airtel said.
 "It is, therefore, extremely important that the industry remains viable to support the vision of Digital India. Accordingly, Airtel will appropriately increase price offerings in the month beginning December," it added. SUM ANS

Vodafone Idea, Bharti Airtel continue rally for fourth consecutive session

New Delhi, Jan 15 () Bharti Airtel has raised USD 3 billion through QIP and FCCB route, completing a massive fund raising exercise for the firm, which has to pay billions of dollars in statutory dues.
Post the USD 2 billion Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP) issue, the holding of promoter and promoter group will come down to 58.98 per cent as against 62.70 per cent, Bharti Airtel said in a statement.
"The company...will issue 32,35,95,505 equity shares of face value of Rs 5 per equity share at a price of Rs 445 which implies a discount of 1.57 per cent on the SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India) determined floor price of Rs 452.09 per equity share," the statement said.
The offer saw participation by marquee global and Indian investors, it added.
The transaction is the largest ever dual tranche equity and FCCB offering in Asia Pacific, largest QIP ever by a private sector issuer in India, and largest FCCB offering from an India issuer in the last 12 years, the company added.
Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea and other telcos owe the government nearly Rs 1.47 lakh crore in past statutory dues. These liabilities arose after the Supreme Court in October last year upheld the government's position on including revenue from non-core businesses for calculating the annual AGR (Adjusted Gross Revenue) of telecom companies, a share of which is paid as licence and spectrum fees to the exchequer.
The statutory liabilities in the case of Bharti Airtel adds up to nearly Rs 35,586 crore, of which Rs 21,682 crore is licence fee and another Rs 13,904.01 crore is spectrum dues (excluding the dues of Telenor and Tata Teleservices).
Earlier this month, shareholders of Bharti Airtel had approved proposals to raise up to USD 2 billion (over Rs 14,000 crore) in equity and another USD 1 billion (around Rs 7,000 crore) in debt.
In a statement on Wednesday, Airtel said it has "raised USD 2 billion through the QIP route and USD 1 billion through FCCBs". The participation was by diversified investor base, which includes global long only funds, sovereign wealth funds, domestic mutual funds, multi-strategy funds and insurance companies in sizable quantities, it added.
Long only investors comprised 80 per cent of the demand for the QIP.
The company said the FCCB offering was multiple times oversubscribed with very strong demand from Asian and European funds.
"The FCCB was priced at a coupon of 1.5 per cent per annum, yield-to-maturity of 2 per cent per annum and a conversion premium of 20 per cent above the final QIP price of Rs 445," it said.
Harjeet Kohli, Group Director of Bharti Enterprises, said the offering witnessed a strong response from the global and domestic investor community, despite a volatile market environment and challenging global macro-economic conditions.
"This underlines Airtel's growth oriented financial performance and future growth potential of our business and the sector. We are delighted with the participation and continuing support of high quality investors thereby ensuring further diversification of the shareholder base of Bharti Airtel."
Airtel said that the proceeds of the fund will be used for augmenting the company's long term resources and strengthening the balance sheet, servicing and repayment of short term and long term debts, towards statutory dues, and long term working capital requirements.
Airtel shares closed at Rs 467.10 apiece on Wednesday, 0.50 per cent lower than the previous closing. MBI MBI BAL

Airtel raises USD 3 billion dollars via QIP, FCCB offering

New Delhi, Jan 8 () Telecom major Bharti Airtel on Wednesday said it has opened qualified institutions placement process to raise USD 2 billion and has launched FCCBs worth up to USD 1 billion. 
For the QIP issue, the special committee of directors has fixed a floor price of Rs 452.09 per share.
"...the Special Committee of Directors for Fund Raising of the company has, at its meeting held on January 8, 2020 approved issue of equity shares on a QIP (basis)..." the company said in a BSE filing.
It added that the floor price of Rs 452.09 per equity share in respect of the issue is based on the pricing formula as per Sebi rules.
The filing said the committee may, at its absolute discretion, offer a discount of not more than 5 per cent on the floor price.
Besides, the company has also launched foreign currency convertible bonds (FCCBs) at a regulatory floor price of Rs 452.09 to raise an aggregate amount of up to USD 1 billion, the filing said.
Earlier this month, shareholders of Bharti Airtel had approved proposals to raise up to USD 2 billion in equity and another USD 1 billion in debt.
The proposal for issuance of securities for amount up to USD 2 billion, and issue of foreign currency convertible bonds and unsecured/secured redeemable non-convertible debentures along with or without warrants was passed at the company's EGM on January 3. 
Airtel is expected to use the funds to pay the adjusted gross revenue (AGR) liability and invest in the network.
The company has posted a staggering Rs 23,045 crore net loss for the second quarter ended September 30, due to provisioning of Rs 28,450 crore in the aftermath of the Supreme Court ruling on statutory dues.
According to government data, the liabilities in the case of Bharti Airtel add up to nearly Rs 35,586 crore, of which Rs 21,682 crore is licence fee and another Rs 13,904.01 crore is the SUC dues (not including the dues of Telenor and Tata Teleservices).

New Delhi, Jan 15 () Bharti Airtel has announced allotment of 32.35 crore equity shares to eligible institutional buyers at an issue price of Rs 445 per share as part of USD 2 billion (over Rs 14,000 crore) qualified institutional placement that closed on Tuesday.
 The issue price was at a discount of 1.57 per cent to the stated floor price of Rs 452.09 per equity share.
 The company had embarked on a mega fund raising exercise, the proceeds of which will be used to pay the adjusted gross revenue (AGR) liability and invest in the network.
 Bharti Airtel has to pay nearly Rs 35,586 crore in additional statutory dues, after a Supreme Court ruling on AGR liabilities of telecom companies in October last year.
 Earlier this month, shareholders of Bharti Airtel had approved proposals to raise up to USD 2 billion (over Rs 14,000 crore) in equity and another USD 1 billion (around Rs 7,000 crore) in debt.
 Airtel has announced the closure of the issue period for the qualified institutional placement (QIP) and fixed the issue price at "Rs 445 per equity share which is at a discount of 1.57 per cent to the floor price of Rs 452.09 per equity share".
 As many as 32.35 crore equity shares are being allotted to eligible qualified institutional buyers, the company said in a regulatory filing. The special committee of directors for fund raising exercise also cleared the terms of foreign currency convertible bonds (FCCBs) including the issue price.
 "FCCBs due 2025, convertible into fully paid-up equity shares of face value of Rs 5 each of the company at a price of Rs 534 per conversion equity share to the initial purchasers subject to receipt of funds, satisfaction of other conditions precedent and settlement as per applicable laws and procedures and relevant agreements," the filing said. New Delhi, Nov 19 () Shares of Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel were in heavy demand on Tuesday, with the former rising sharply by up to 35 per cent after both the companies announced a hike in mobile phone call and data charges from December.
 The company's scrip zoomed 34.68 per cent to close at Rs 6.02 on the BSE. During the day, it advanced 42.95 per cent to Rs 6.39.
 Bharti Airtel shares also rallied 7.36 per cent to Rs 439.25 at close of trade. In intra-day, it climbed 8.87 per cent to Rs 445.45 -- its 52-week high.

New Delhi, Apr 15 () Telecom operator Bharti Airtel has surpassed HDFC to become the country's fifth most valued firm in terms of market valuation. At close of trade on Wednesday, Bharti Airtel's market capitalisation (m-cap) stood at Rs 2,78,206.15 crore, Rs 1,987.86 crore more than that of HDFC's valuation of Rs 2,76,218.29 crore on the BSE. Shares of Bharti Airtel had gained in the last two trades, but closed on a marginally lower note on Wednesday, down 0.35 per cent at Rs 509.95. Mortgage lender HDFC's shares fell 3.61 per cent to close at Rs 1,594.75. RIL is the country's most valued firm with a valuation of Rs 7,29,050.55 crore, followed by TCS (Rs 6,50,832.37 crore), HUL (Rs 5,38,992.08 crore), HDFC Bank (Rs 4,73,454.37 crore) and Bharti Airtel. New Delhi, Nov 20 () Shares of Vodafone Idea remained in heavy demand on Wednesday closing with up to 17.4 per cent gains after the company announced a hike in mobile phone call and data charges from December.
 Rising for the fourth consecutive session, Vodafone Idea shares advanced 17.44 per cent to close at Rs 7.07 on the BSE. During the day, it jumped 31.72 per cent to Rs 7.93. In four sessions, the stock price has more than doubled.
 However, Bharti Airtel, which rose 3.11 per cent to its 52-week high of Rs 452.95 during the day, later erased its early gains and ended at Rs 437.25, down 0.46 per cent as compared with the previous close.

Airtel and Vodafone are fully charged with hopes of a relief from India's Supreme Court

Telecom operator <keyword id="6354287" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="bharti-airtel" source="Orion">Bharti Airtel</keyword>'s consolidated net profit fell 2.8 per cent during Q3FY22 to Rs 830 crore on a year-on-year basis. In the same quarter of the previous fiscal, the consolidated net profit of the company stood at Rs 854 crore. On the other hand, the total revenues during Q3FY22 grew 12.6 per cent to Rs 29,867 crore, as against Rs 26,518 crore in the same quarter last fiscal. Besides, EBITDA grew 22.4 per cent to Rs 14,905 crore, against Rs 12,178 crore reported in the same quarter last fiscal. "We have delivered another quarter of sustained performance across all our business segments... The recent tariff revision for mobile services has gone down well and we are exiting the quarter with an industry leading ARPU of Rs 163," said Gopal Vittal, MD and CEO, India and South Asia in a statement. The full impact of the revised mobile tariffs, however, will be visible in the fourth quarter, he said. "Our Enterprise, Homes and Africa business continue to deliver strongly, with steady increase in contribution to the overall mix of the portfolio. Our balance sheet is robust and we are now generating healthy free cash flows. This has enabled us to recently prepay some of our spectrum liabilities to the government thereby reducing the interest burden." Furthermore, Google's recent investment in the company is a strong validation of <keyword id="15491" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="airtel" source="Orion">Airtel</keyword>'s role in being a leading pioneer of India's digital revolution, the statement said.
