Jammu and Kashmir (6 constituencies) In the politically sensitive region that saw one of the deadliest terrorist attacks earlier this year, Jammu &amp; Kashmir National Conference and BJP each won three seats. Uttarakhand (5 constituencies) Bharatiya Janata Party won all five seats in the northern state Himachal Pradesh (4 constituencies) Here, too, BJP won all four seats. Arunachal Pradesh (2 constituencies) Bharatiya Janata Party won one seat in the Eastern state, and was leading in the other state. Manipur (2 constituencies) The BJP and Naga Peoples Front tied in the Northeastern state. Tripura (2 constituencies) Bharatiya Janata Party won both seats here. Chandigarh (1 constituency) BJP won the sole seat in the union territory. Dadra &amp; Nagar Haveli (1 constituency) An independent candidate won the single seat in Dadra &amp; Nagar Haveli Sikkim (1 constituency) Sikkim Krantikari Morcha won the single seat in the state.

BJP also did well in Bihar, leading in 16 of the 37 seats. while its allies Janata Dal-United (JD-U) also led in 15 constituencies and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) in 5, puncturing the Grand Alliance led by the RJD. For rival Congress, the best performing state so far has been Kerala where its candidates were leading in 16 of the 20 Lok Sabha seats. The BJP was widely projected to take the majority of the 542 seats in the elections of the Lok Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament, in the latest exit polls. He is going to succeed 76-year-old Sumitra Mahajan — the 16th Lok Sabha Speaker who did not contest the elections this time. However, there is no official announcement yet. Om Birla’s wife congratulated him by saying this was a proud moment for the family. <keyword id="513880" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Pinaki-Misra">Pinaki Misra</keyword>, the Biju Janata Dal’s parliamentary party leader in the Lok Sabha, said that his party, although not a member of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), had decided to support Birla. "The BJP, which has a clear majority in the Lok Sabha, has nominated Om Birla for the post of the Lok Sabha Speaker and sought our support for him. Since we have always had constructive cooperation with the Centre, we will support the proposal," said Mishra. The 57 year old Birla, was once a key leader of the Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha and reportedly has close ties with Amit Shah. He also played a significant role in BJP-led Ram Janmabhoomi movement in the 1990s. The decision to nominate Birla came soon after JP Nadda took the place as working BJP yuva president. Birla has worked closely with Nadda too. Om Birla worked as a Vice-President of BJP youth wing when Nadda was serving as the president of the same. Om Birla, who has been contesting as an MLA from Kota, kept winning from 2003 to 2014. He represented the Kota-Bundi Lok Sabha constituency. He<a href="https://www.indiatoday.in/india/story/om-birla-won-t-be-first-two-time-mp-to-be-elected-as-lok-sabha-speaker-1551010-2019-06-18"> reportedly</a> had a case registered against him in 2018 during his entire political career. He was accused of accumulating assets disproportionate to his income. The <keyword id="49015" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rajasthan-High-Court">Rajasthan High Court</keyword> dismissed the case in 2019.

According to data from Facebook’s Ad Library, it is not only the party which is spending the most, but is also spending almost 37 times more than its arch rival, the <keyword id="1575" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Congress">Congress</keyword> party. Facebook made as much as ₹228.5 million from political parties and affiliated channels, by sharing political ads on its network. BJP’s share in that revenue was at around ₹36.8 million, while the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/congress-election-manifesto-for-lok-sabha-elections-2019/articleshow/68707221.cms">Congress party</a> — the challenger, spent less than a million, at ₹919,000. In fact, BJP's spend is even higher if it is combined with its affiliate channels — like Bharat Ki Mann Ki Baat and My First Vote — at a whopping ₹140 million. That’s half of the total amount spent on political advertising on Facebook, ahead of the sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections in India . This does not include other aspects — like the manpower required to manufacture and publish the posts, and the conceptualization of an online strategy. Adding to that, BJP is active on other social media platforms like Twitter and <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/bjp-tops-political-ad-spending-on-google-platforms/articleshow/68732310.cms">Google</a> as well. The Congress-party Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Kamal Nath, remains optimistic saying that the exit polls predicted Congress’ loss in 2018 as well, despite which the party came out on top.
