Now, a recent report says that women in the tech industry see generative AI as a crucial step towards their career growth. However, there is a major challenge being encountered- they aren't trained enough to use GenAI tools. <h2>90 percent women feel GenAI is a step towards career growth</h2>A new report by <keyword id="19955786" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nasscom" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="nasscom" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="nasscom">Nasscom</keyword> and Boston Consulting Group (<keyword id="20058186" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="BCG" source="keywords">BCG</keyword>) has revealed that while 90% of women in India's tech industry view Generative AI (GenAI) as crucial for career growth, only one-third feel adequately prepared to use these technologies. Hence, even though women view GenAI as a crucial step in their professional journey, most of them still aren't confident using it. The report, titled "GenAI: The Diversity Game Changer We Can't Ignore," was unveiled at the nasscom Global Inclusion Summit in Bengaluru on August 8, 2024. The report highlights that women in both tech and non-tech roles exhibit high levels of professional ambition and are willing to put in extra effort to achieve success. This ambition is particularly pronounced in the AI/GenAI field, where women see mentorship as a key factor in their success. Currently, women make up 36% of India’s tech workforce but remain underrepresented in executive roles. GenAI, which involves advanced AI tools that can create new content, designs, and solutions, is seen as a game-changer for the tech industry. As GenAI is expected to dominate 33% of the global AI landscape by 2027, the market is projected to reach $320-380 billion. This rapid growth presents a unique opportunity for fostering gender diversity by helping women overcome traditional barriers and excel in their careers. The report reveals that women are ready to invest more time to achieve professional success in GenAI. According to the survey findings, 95% of junior, 96% of mid-management, and 100% of senior management women are prepared to put in extra effort. Women also view GenAI tools as a significant boost to their perceived competence, with 45% of <keyword id="20599228" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="women-in-tech" source="keywords">women in tech</keyword> roles feeling more confident compared to their non-tech peers. <h2>Challenges in GenAI adoption</h2>Despite the enthusiasm, many women at senior management levels face challenges in adopting GenAI tools. These challenges include limited knowledge, lack of trust, restricted access to these tools, and fear of competence scrutiny. Knowledge gaps are the primary barrier, cited by women across all levels from entry roles to the C-suite. Sangeeta Gupta, Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer at nasscom, talked about the importance of addressing these challenges: “Despite significant progress in diversity and AI/GenAI adoption, substantial gaps still limit women's full potential in the tech industry. With GenAI set to dominate the tech industry, it is critical to address key challenges such as knowledge gaps and lack of support, to empower women, particularly in these roles.” Meanwhile, Sreyssha George, Managing Director and Partner, Boston Consulting Group said, "Globally, senior women lead in GenAI adoption, yet India lags with a 64% gender disparity in AI leadership. Most women in tech feel GenAI can help them grow in their careers but don't know how to use it, Nasscom-BCG reports

Chairman of the <keyword id="116095" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="indian-space-research-organisation" source="Orion">Indian Space Research Organisation</keyword> (<keyword id="6358064" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="isro" source="Orion">ISRO</keyword>), S. Somanath on Thursday said that about 100 startups have registered with the space agency and are working closely in various domains. Addressing a plenary session at the <keyword id="5986217" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="bengaluru-tech-summit" source="Orion">Bengaluru Tech Summit</keyword> 2022 on 'R&amp;D of India: Innovation for Global Impact', he said that the ISRO has signed MoUs with companies to work closely which include hand-holding in space technology and building processes from start to finish. Somanath said a significant number of companies have the potential to become big players in the space sector and ISRO is playing the role of facilitator and helping in building technologies, adding that out of the 100 startups at least 10 of them are working on developing satellites and rockets. He also announced that Chandrayaan 3 mission will be in orbit in a few months adding that ISRO is working closely with <keyword id="6360409" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="nasa" source="Orion">NASA</keyword> in space technology areas. He said the computer that was used in the rocket was made in India. In his brisk presentation, he said space tourism has picked up in the world with startups evincing interest in various applications which impact day-to-day activities. The ISRO chairman said that the agency is playing an important role in smart city projects and smart manufacturing processes. 100 startups registered with ISRO to work in space tech domains: Chairman

Prime Minister Narendra Modi would digitally unveil the 23rd edition of the <keyword id="5986217" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bengaluru-Tech-Summit">Bengaluru Tech Summit</keyword> from New Delhi on Thursday and virtually address the gathering in this tech city. "PM Modi will digitally inaugurate the state's flagship annual technology event and address the delegates, who will participate off-line and online through video conferencing," Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister C.N. Ashwath Narayan told reporters here on Wednesday. Among the prominent overseas participants from 25 countries the world over are Australia Prime Minister Scott Morrison and <keyword id="2550" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Swiss-Confederation">Swiss Confederation</keyword> Vice-President Guy Parmelin. The 3-day summit, to be held at a star hotel in the city centre, will focus on innovation and growth in IT and biotechnology (BT), which drive the growth of this tech hub in the southern state. "Modi is the second prime minister to unveil the event in the city after Atal Bihari Vajpayee 22 years ago in November, 1998," Narayan recalled. Narayan, who is the ruling BJP legislator from the city, holds the portfolios of IT, BT and Science and Technology. As the event is being held in the midst of coronavirus pandemic, arrangements have been made for delegates to participate in the summit's various events, including sessions through video conferencing. "Technology and innovation have been a boon and a solution to mitigate hardships we all are facing due to the Covid pandemic," asserted Narayan. Thought leaders, industry captains, technocrats, researchers, innovators, investors, policy-makers and educators from across the country and overseas will participate in 75 panel discussions and plenary sessions to be addressed by 270 speakers. With "Next is Now" as the theme, the summit will deliberate on challenges emerging in the post-pandemic world and focus on the impact of technologies and innovations in IT and BT. About 200 Indian tech firms are showcasing their products and technologies in the virtual exhibition. "The state government has decided to set up an Artificial Intelligence (AI) research centre in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Science in the city in view of its potential to find solutions to problems in future," said Narayan on the occasion. The summit will also feature multi-track conferences, global innovation alliance, STPI-IT Export awards, Smart Bio awards and Bengaluru Impact awards. The state government will also sign a dozen agreements at the summit with Global Innovation Alliance (GIA) partner countries in Europe, Japan and the US. Some of the partner countries like Australia, Britain, France, Germany, Israel, Netherlands and Switzerland will showcase advancements in their technology and how future ready their innovations are at the GIA sessions. PM Modi to digitally inaugurate Bengaluru Tech Summit 2020 today

He added: "Now the question is what else is India making with all of our technology." Societal outcomes are never about one institution or one organisation alone, but a collective effort, he said emphasising that he would in fact "shy away from anyone who claims they can do it all". "It is not just that we are making in India but everybody else is making in India, and that is what is going to help us reach all corners of the country," he said. Nadella shared his vision on the role technology can play in achieving the mission of empowering every person and every organisation to achieve more. The visit coincides with Round 9 of negotiations this week between officials working on the UK-India free trade agreement (FTA). "It is fantastic to be in India again visiting the vibrant cities of Pune and Bengaluru to find out how our strong cultural and economic ties mean investors and business leaders continue to choose the UK," said Johnson. He visited Mumbai and New Delhi in October last year when he met with investors and businesses including Apollo Hospitals, Prodapt and Wockhardt. "From life sciences to AI [artificial intelligence], now is the time to invest in the UK as we are determined to be the undisputed number one investment destination in Europe," he said. On the eve of the ministerial visit, the DBT described India as a "priority market" for the UK with Johnson's visit seen as helping to build momentum behind the ongoing FTA negotiations between the two countries. Johnson, a House of Lords peer and the younger brother of former British prime minister Boris Johnson, will also use his visit to promote the Global Investment Summit 2023, which will bring together over 200 CEOs of multinational companies and investment corporations in the UK later this year. Addressing a session on the 'future of mobility' at the Bengaluru Tech Summit 2022 on Friday, Anjum Parwez, Managing Director, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (<keyword id="6367448" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="BMRCL" source="Orion">BMRCL</keyword>), said as part of the second and third phase of the project, Bengaluru will have 314 km of metro rail connectivity by 2041. He said construction of metro lines is also progressing well on the airport side. He said the biggest challenge in urban mobility is the integration of multi-modal transport systems and moving people to get into public transport from personalised transport modes. Parwez said urban India was the most neglected area until the 1990s, as urban planning was not in sync with connectivity or mobility issues. He said BMRCL is getting a lot of support from startups in mobility to ensure that commuters have last-mile connectivity. He said the corporation is tying up with mobility providers to get people to reach the nodal point and commute to their workplaces. Parwez said the <keyword id="6367447" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Namma-Metro" source="Orion">Namma Metro</keyword> has recently gone digital with its payment options that include the use of QR code scans and UPI-based payment options which has met with good response from commuters. Also, there is no waiting time for passengers who are in a hurry as there is no need to stand in queues to buy tickets or cards now. He said BMRCL is working on a transit-oriented development where commuters live close to the stations and to the workplace. Besides, the BMRCL also intends to integrate all aggregators by bringing out a mobility card for commuters. He said the corporation is in talks with BMTC to have bus stops at metro stations to help commuters hop on and hop off both modes of transport. He said bike taxis and carpooling should be encouraged although the government of Karnataka had put brakes on their operation. The BMRCL is also working on introducing shopping options for commuters inside and outside the metro stations. He said the BMRCL plans to sell office space in metro stations and provide end-to-end solutions to all the stakeholders. Amit Bhatt, Managing Director of the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT), said urbanisation in India is 33 per cent while it is about 80-85 per cent in European and American countries. He said about 66 per cent of urban infrastructure is yet to be built in India as the country is set to see a number of cities being built. The biggest challenge is to ensure zero emission, zero exclusion and zero accidents in urban transport, he said. Vadiraj Krishnamurthy, Vice President of Technology and Innovation, Bosch Global Software Technologies, said the future is software-defined fully programmable vehicles. "The key enablers of urban transport are personalised multi-modal mobility, automated mobility, electrified and connected mobility. Connecting vehicles using technology is an engineering challenge of the future," he said. <ul><li>Cisco-Google partnership promises to provide free, high-speed public Wi-Fi zones in India.</li><li>Project currently on a roll-out mode, with 200 locations in Bengaluru identified.</li><li>Wi-Fi is seen as a means to offload traffic from mobile networks.</li></ul>Tech giant Cisco plans to begin the rollout of free, open, high-speed public Wi-Fi zones across India, soon. It will use Google’s gStation platform to create these zones, it said during Cisco India Summit 2019. The project to provide public Wi-Fi zones is already underway and is currently in its first phase of implementation. By September 2019, over 200 locations in Bengaluru, including hospitals, bus stops and government offices will be Wi-Fi enabled, followed by another 300 Wi-Fi zones in the second phase. Massive untapped potential According to a TRAI report, globally there is one Wi-Fi hotspot for every 150 users. In India, currently, there are only 52,000 Wi-Fi hotspots. To match the global ratio in India, eight million new hotspots must be installed. This has created a new market for infrastructure providers and ISPs in India. Speaking at the event, Sameer Garde, President, Cisco India &amp; SAARC, said, “We are excited to partner with Google to bring free, open, high-quality internet access to everyone in India. This also represents a significant growth opportunity, the demand for public Wi-Fi hotspots is expected to go up by 100X over the next 3 years, creating new markets for Cisco and our partners.” Wi-Fi as an extension of cellular networks Globally, telecom providers have started using Wi-Fi access points and zones as a means to offload users from the mobile network onto the more affordable Wi-Fi network. This allows users to maintain connectivity while de-congesting the mobile network. According to a report by CISCO VNI, almost 59% of the internet traffic will be offloaded from mobile networks to Wi-Fi by 2022. This market is ripe for the picking.

He saw that interaction becomes awkward. Then he started looking into anthropometry, a field of research that deals with a person’s size, form and personal capacities. All the lanyards for Web Summit are custom designed and they bring our name within our field of vision. 
 

	Also there were no rules for the font size of the name batch at different conferences. He started asking the reason behind choosing a particular font at a particular event. It was almost random.
 

	“We follow certain rules and logic behind the font size too.”
 

	2. Queuing system- Almost in all conferences, small or big, the queuing system is always arbitrary. But Web Summit applies the mechanics of queuing theory, the same theory applied in Disney theme park. To maintain the huge crowd is pretty difficult. Yet, the queuing system is effective.
 

	3. GoPro- GoPros are installed at the ceilings of the venue. Using computer vision these GoPros evaluate the optimal layer of the venue, what’s the optimum width of the channel between two exhibitors for people to walk up and down without being too wide or too narrow.
 

	4. List of attendees- Even in the list of attendees, disruptive technology is used to ensure if a person wants to find a particular person to connect with, he does so hassle-free amidst the hundreds of participants.
 

	5. It is not just a 9-5 conference- After the talks, it continues till 3am in the morning whereby a further ecosystem of side events, dinners and drinks is build to engage the start-ups better with the concerned parties.

After the successful AI Safety Summit in the UK, the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) in New Delhi next month will further deliberate upon the risks associated with artificial intelligence (AI) -- in the presence of world leaders -- before a global framework is reached in Korea next year, according to <keyword id="205969" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="rajeev-chandrasekhar" source="Orion">Rajeev Chandrasekhar</keyword>, Minister of State for Electronics and IT. As the council chair of GPAI, India is set to host the annual summit at Pragati Maidan in Delhi from December 12-14. Bengaluru, Nov 21 (IANS) Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev on Saturday appealed to give top priority to provide Covid vaccine to high-risk groups including doctors, police personnel and frontline workers managing the outbreak. Participating in a virtual interaction at the Bengaluru Tech Summit-2020, Sadhguru said that he would be the last person to get vaccinated. "If you ask me about vaccines, I would be the last person to get vaccinated for any pandemic including Covid-19. For me top priority should be given to high-risk groups like police personnel, doctors, and marginalised workers among others. They should get the vaccine first to arrest the pandemic in India," he contended. He added that the vaccine should also be given to vulnerable people, elderly and children, who are at a greater risk of developing severe disease because of low immunity and comorbidities. Sadhguru explained that the Union Government has drafted a document regarding the administration of vaccines, and it has already been shared with state governments for gathering inputs from them. "The government is also in the process of finalizing the databases of various priority population groups that will be administered the vaccine if and when it becomes available," he said. He further asserted that the World Health Organization (WHO) should tell parents about which vaccines are a must and what is a choice. Sadhguru also said that vaccines have brought power and wellbeing to people's lives. "Most of us are sitting here because we were vaccinated.
