<keyword id="3149559" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Arunabh-Madhur">Arunabh Madhur</keyword> spent 15 years of his life working in brand, media and digital content marketing for a reputed media company, but it was his passion for <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=bikes">bikes </a>that he decided to dedicate the rest of his life to. 
 
“It also meant taking one chunk of the problems we as individuals face in our country and trying my best to solve it. As luck would have it, the problem coincided with my passion as well,” he says. 
 And, thus was born <keyword id="3149558" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="M-Taxi">M-Taxi</keyword>. <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=gurgaon">Gurgaon’</a>s first two-wheeler <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=taxi">taxi </a>hailing service’s aim was to provide last-mile connectivity at a time when traffic and an auto driver’s whims rule the roads. 
 
 
 
Today, this company clocks around 400 rides per day with just 20 bikes, and all under a span of 12 hours. 
 It’s exceptional progress for a bike-hailing service which was formally launched in <keyword id="6361586" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Gurgaon">Gurgaon</keyword> during <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=car+free+day">Car Free Day</a> on December 1 last year with just 10 bikes. Though, it’s also true that the work had begun much earlier. 
 
Coming back to the man behind it, Madhur quit his job back in June 2014, and from there followed his brief stint at a startup focusing on branded content which unfortunately didn’t pan out the way he’d intended. It was then he decided to focus on something he was better versed with. 
 
Being a passionate biker himself, the idea of doing something related to bikes was always at the back of his head, aided with the fact that India is the largest manufacturer and consumer base for two-wheelers, however, he gave it a serious thought only after he called it quits at his first startup. 
 
 
 
He realised that last mile connectivity posed a huge gap in our country and the way to success was to allow it within the least possible time and money. 
 
“I was starting to understand how two-wheelers could be integrated in the mix and soon started my research. Getting the legalities took a fair amount of time, but here we are now,” he adds with a smile. 
 
Madhur also observed how the need of the hour was to double up the supply of a mode of transport that would connect individuals from their metro/bus stops to their workplaces or homes. 
 
And, this is where he gave his M-Taxi an edge over his rivals. It won’t only be an app-only service, he decided. 
 
 
 
So, if you use it, you will know that apart from booking a ride on the app, you can also hail a bike when you spot it outside a metro station. There’s another option - Call the toll-free number and book one. 
 
“You don’t get this convenience with an <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=M-taxi">Ola</a> or <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=uber">Uber</a>. If you don’t book your ride with the Ola/Uber app, you can’t hail a ride. With M-Taxi, that’s not an issue.” 
 
But this was not the only problem he addressed. Some other issues like Ola/Uber's overpriced fares, auto drivers refusing to go by the meter, safety concerns and being stuck in traffic jams were also taken care of by Arunabh. 
 
His two-wheeler taxi service not only evades these issues, but also manages to make the journey much more economical for the passenger. 
 
“Our rides are priced very economically. You pay Rs 20 for the first 3 kms and Rs 5 for every kilometre thereon. There is no additional tax or money cut for the time taken for your journey. Additionally, we also provide helmets which cover your full face, tissues and disposable passenger caps for added security of our passengers,” Madhur explains. 
 
 
 
 
Safety is undoubtedly a priority for him and he doesn’t leave a second to stress on it. “Being a rider myself, I’m aware of the injury points and one of the areas where you get the worst injuries is your head. So, I have ensured that we put in extra resources to get the specific helmets that cover your whole head,” he says. 
 
It’s for the same reason that the services of M-taxi are available only from 8 am to 8 pm. “See, we’re very clear that we’re focusing on last-mile connectivity and short distances. We only cover distances between 2-10 kms. I personally would not want any passenger to be alone on a bike-crossing, highways or empty roads after 8 pm. It’s not safe. ” 
 
He also believes since bikes are an open service, there is very little chance of something going awry with no one noticing. 
 
And, when I prod him further on what he has to say about people assuming that bike transport is more dangerous, especially for women, he has an answer ready. 
 
“What happened to the girl from Snapdeal? She was in an auto and not a bike. Was that really safe?” 
 
He then went on to ascertain that the company is working with an NGO to ensure that can get women riders on board too- just so that they can make the experience more comfortable for women. 
 There are also plans of launching the service in Faridabad next month, integrating the Paytm wallet on the app and clearing out legalities hoping to make two-wheeler taxi services operate in <keyword id="66" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Delhi">Delhi</keyword> and Noida- all this while being in the process of raising another round of funding and showcasing M-taxi at Tomorrow Land in Singapore, the global launchpad for startups. 
 
When Arunabh Madhur says that M-taxi is your personal time-saver, be rest assured he isn't kidding.

How one man’s passion for bikes gave Gurgaon M Taxi, its first
two-wheeler taxi service

New Delhi, Mar 4 () Agri post-harvest services platform Arya on Wednesday said it has raised USD 6 million (about Rs 43 crore) in pre-Series B funding from venture capital firm Omnivore and existing investor LGT Lightstone Aspada. The company plans to use the funding to accelerate the growth of their agri storage network, build their book in warehouse receipt financing, and lay the foundations of a pan-India agri warehousing marketplace, the company said in a statement. Arya plans to launch its Series B fundraising round by mid-2020. "Omnivore's coming on board will strengthen our next generation work to further improve efficiencies in the post-harvest ecosystem," Arya CEO and Co-founder Prasanna Rao said. LGT Lightstone Aspada had earlier invested in Arya's Series A round in December 2016. Based out of Delhi, Arya currently manages over 2.5 million tonnes of agri commodities in its 1,400 warehouses. Also, around 75 per cent of its warehousing capacity is located in primary and secondary markets. Arya raises USD 6 mn in pre-Series B funding

Starting from 1 August, movie-goers in <keyword id="13126" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maharashtra">Maharashtra</keyword> will have the option to opt-out of buying overpriced items at snack counters in movie theatres. The state government today (13 July) made the announcement that movie <keyword id="6282" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="theatre">theatre</keyword>s will no longer be able to forbid ‘outside food’. It has also decided to meet with theatre owners and review and reduce the current prices of food served. The Food Supplies Minister, Ravindra Chavan made this announcement at the <keyword id="4072" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nagpur">Nagpur</keyword> Assembly in response to a query raised by opposition leader Dhananjay Munde on whether outside food was permitted inside theatres. The validity of the rule that prohibits outside food in theatres was earlier contested by Jainendra Baxi, who filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) at the <keyword id="48485" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bombay-high-court">Bombay High Court</keyword> in <a href="https://scroll.in/latest/886420/maharashtra-movie-goers-can-carry-food-items-inside-theatres-from-august-1-says-government">January</a>. During the hearing in April, Baxi’s counsel Aditya Pratap raised a particularly interesting point that Maharashtra Cinemas (Regulation) Rules do not permit hawking and selling of food inside theatres. A rule that is clearly being flouted by theatre owners. The lawyer also pointed out that apart from the price, the rule prohibiting outside food affects senior citizens who have dietary restrictions and cannot stomach the "the junk food that the food stalls in the theatres sell." And while the case is still to be settled, the High Court did acknowledge the problem and opined that prices should ideally be brought down and if at all theatres insist on banning food in halls, then food should not be sold and served by theatre vendors either. To this, the Maharashtra government had said that it will soon frame a policy to address this issue after taking into account the suggestions submitted by the petitioner and the Multiplex Owners’ Association (MOA). Theatre owners, however, have unapologetically acknowledged that their entire business model is heavily reliant on the sale of snacks and beverages and not so much on the actual movie tickets which constitutes only 25% of their profits. Movie-goers in Maharashtra will soon be able to take their own food into theatres

This summer, commuters in the NCR, willing to ditch metros and buses, will have several choices to book their cabs. Apart from <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/heres-who-is-benefitting-from-ola-uber-drivers-strike/articleshow/57187851.cms">Ola and Uber</a>, they will have two new cab aggregator apps. This would also benefit them in terms of money, owing to the price war between these apps.

Cabby, the cab aggregator app to be launched today, has been developed by Sahil Arora, a seventeen-year-old school dropout from Gurgaon. The app will have 25,000 operational cabs in NCR, following which it would move to <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/bengaluru-feel-relieved-as-ola-anduber-drivers-call-off-strike/articleshow/57221582.cms">Bengaluru</a>.

 Cabby would charge a base fare of Rs 37.50 for the first 2 km, followed by Rs 12.5 per km. Arora told ET that this is actually very competitive, and the fare would be lesser than what <keyword id="6354720" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ola">Ola</keyword> and Uber charge.

The second cab-aggregator app to be launched today is from 74 BC Technologies, operational from <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/UberMOTO-enters-Gurgaon/articleshow/51603369.cms">Gurgaon</a> where it is known for the bike taxi aggregator Baxi. 
 
Baxi is now launching cab services in seven cities including Delhi, Ghaziabad, Gurgaon, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai and Bengaluru. Acting as a technology provider for the app, it will be available free of cost for cab drivers. 
 
"Baxi will not take any commission from the drivers to use their technology platform," said Ashutosh Johri, co-founder of Baxi and an IIT Delhi alumnus. It would charge a base fare of Rs 50, followed by Rs 9 per km. Having around 1,000 cabs in its fleet, it would also have Re 1/minute wait charges.

The surgeons removed the 5-centimeter blood clot by entering through his left eyebrow. The senator, who is 80, is back at home and "in good spirits," Clinic's statement said. Blood clots are instances where blood hardens into a solid from its liquid state. They can occur in veins around the body, and are more likely to form after an injury. People with obesity, cancer, or liver or kidney disease are all at risk for blood clots, <a href="https://medlineplus.gov/ency/article/001124.htm">according to the U.S. National Library of Medcine</a>. The surgical procedure that McCain received to remove the blood clot is called a craniotomy. In order to get into the brain, surgeons have to open up the skull, often removing a piece of bone in the process.Once the clot is removed, that bone is replaced and the head is stitched back up. Results of tests that could determine the clot's origin are pending, the Mayo Clinic said.One possible cause could have to do with McCain's medical history. The senator has a history of melanoma, which is considered the most <a href="https://medlineplus.gov/melanoma.html">serious form</a> of skin cancer. In 2000, McCain had a melanoma-related growth removed from his left temple (not far from where the blood clot was) <a href="http://discovermagazine.com/2008/oct/29-the-truth-about-mccains-melanoma/">according to Discover Magazine</a>.Other possible causes could have been a fall, a stroke, or changes in the brain that come with aging, <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2017/07/16/health/john-mccain-blood-clot-recovery.html">the Times reported</a>. Once doctors figure out the cause of the clot, their conclusion could determine how serious the senator's condition is. But doctors not associated with McCain's case seem optimistic. Taxi-hailing app <keyword id="1042120" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Uber">Uber</keyword>'s new <keyword id="3303159" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="bike-sharing-product">bike sharing product</keyword> '<keyword id="3259663" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="uberMOTO">UberMOTO</keyword>' can now be enjoyed by <keyword id="6361586" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Gurgaon">Gurgaon</keyword> commuters. 

	“Uber today announced a pilot of Uber’s bikesharing product — 'UberMOTO' in Gurgaon... This follows our agreement with the government of Haryana to introduce technology based ride-sharing services in the state,” it said in a statement.
 

	The company has set minimum fare at Rs. 15, followed by Rs. 3 per km and Rs. 1 per min of ride-time charges. The minimum fare is Rs. 20. It will compete with companies like Baxi.
 

	“UberMOTO works towards the vision of reducing congestion by helping fill every empty seat on the bikes on road. It enables riders to push a button and share a motorbike ride within minutes,” Uber Delhi General Manager Gagan Bhatia said.
 

	It’s a great way for people to save time and money on short trips across town and provides last mile connectivity — especially to and from the metro stations, he added.
 

	Also, Uber will not charge any service fee for the duration of this pilot and will submit a key findings report to the Government, analysing the benefits of bike-sharing in the city.
 The U.S.-based company had launched a pilot for the product in <keyword id="6354321" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bengaluru">Bengaluru</keyword> earlier this month but state road authorities had complained that it lacked requisite permissions to offer two-wheeler taxi service. 

	Uber said it had extensive discussions with the relevant authorities and made modifications to the pilot service.
 

	It had said it will also not charge any service fee for the period of this pilot and was essentially encouraging “bikepooling” aimed at decongesting city roads.
 

	The company will prepare a similar report addressing the viability of the product for Bengaluru as well.
 

	Uber’s rival, Ola had also launched a similar bike-sharing service in Bengaluru. However, following the complaint, the Softbank-backed firm had discontinued the service.
 

	To book a bike ride, users can choose the ‘UberMOTO’ option from the Uber app and enter their pickup location and payment method and request a ride.
 

	Similar to cabs, users will get driver’s details straight like name, photo and details of the motorbike.
 

	Uber’s standard product safety features include GPS tracking, 2-way feedback and the ability to share trip details with family and friends.
