Kataria is the first Indian to hold this prestigious role and will be taking over Alexis Nasard, who has been leading the 126-year old company for almost five years now. A veteran in the consumer industry Kataria had joined Bata as its India CEO in 2017, but he comes with a stellar track record in the consumer industry. Before joining Bata, Kataria worked with Unilever, Yum Brands, and Vodafone. During his tenure as Bata India's CEO, Kataria has doubled its profits with a double-digit topline growth while also transforming the brand's image into something more contemporary. "I have been privileged to be part of Bata's success in India, and I look forward to building further on our proud, 120-year history as shoemakers to the world. Kataria's big task during the pandemic — driving Bata's online presence Bata saw a new challenge during the global coronavirus lockdown as it had to set the foundation for a new, online retail wave. After having a presence in India for over 89 years, the company had already been ramping up its online presence through e-commerce. Now, it's even taking orders on WhatsApp. The gradual shift to online helped the footwear retail giant steady its revenue, even while many physical stores continued to stay shut during the July- September quarter. The company's losses too improved from ₹101.1 crore in the first quarter of FY21 to ₹44.4 crore in the second quarter. "We focused on scaling up our presence in online marketplaces with an expanded range, scaling our own channel bata.in and our new digital channels such as 'Bata ChatShop,' 'Bata Home Delivery' &amp; 'Bata Store-on-Wheels' mobile kiosk to reach out to a wider customer base," Kataria had said during the second-quarter results of the company. Bata names Sandeep Kataria as its global CEO — the first Indian to lead the 126-year old footwear giant worldwide

Companies with $465 billion in combined market cap to see a CEO change in the next 12 months: Here’s what investors should do

Its profits stood at ₹573 million, down from ₹1052 million in the same quarter the previous year. Its revenue fell xx% to ₹6368 million. However, the company’s shares saw a slight jump and were trading at ₹1283.60 on Tuesday morning. In the month of April, all of its stores were shut and it was able to open its stores in May. However, the 89-year old company in India is finally giving in to the demands of e-commerce. Bata has been ramping up its e-commerce presence and is now also taking orders through WhatsApp. “Given the ongoing crisis, we are expanding our e-commerce footprint via ramping our presence in online marketplaces allowing delivery in over 1300 cities, rolling out home delivery across 900+ stores and giving customers the option to shop from homes via WhatsApp chat with our neighborhood stores,” said Sandeep Kataria, CEO, Bata India. But even after lockdown, consumers are going to be cautious about their spending.In lieu of a global recession, people aren’t going to loosen their purse strings. “After the control of the spread of the coronavirus and post the lock-down period, the spending as well as shopping patterns of the consumers are expected to change significantly. The consumers are likely to curtail their discretionary spending with reduced income in their hands as well as tendency to preserve cash,” said a report by CARE ratings. Bata India’s quarterly profit nearly halves– the 89-year old company has resorted to home delivery and wooing customers via WhatsApp

New Delhi, Nov 26 () Footwear maker Bata will continue its growth journey in India with the multi-retail channel approach along with e-commerce platform to reach out to as many customers as it can, said a top company official.
 The company, which has a retail network in 450 towns, is further expanding by adding new stores in smaller towns through franchise route.
 "Now we are using all three engines - our own stores, franchise partner store, which is a big drive for us in tier III &amp; IV, and multibrand outlets. On the top it would be our e-commerce channels, whether through bata.in or other marketplaces to get as many consumers as we can," Bata India CEO Sandeep Kataria told .
 The company last month said it will strengthen its presence by adding 500 stores in next five years, focusing mainly on small markets as it has identified tier II, III and IV cities where it has plans to broaden its sales network through the franchise model.
 "What has happened over time, that the brand image and the brand name was much bigger than our reach, as we were selling through our retail stores only in 450 towns," he said.
 "India is much bigger and the brand image is also bigger. So we decided to expand our reach to as many Indians and take advantage of our equities."
 According to Kataria, online channels are providing opportunities in multiple ways to reach consumers.
 "We can actually use the digital channels to increase the productivity of our stores and enhance the satisfaction to our consumers," said Kataria on the sidelines of an event organised by the Retailers Association of India.
 Besides, Bata is working hard to reconnect with the country's millennials.
 "We have a whole battery of brands in Bata as North Star, Bata Red Label, Marie Claire and Footin which talk to millenials. We do not have to mainly rely on Bata, the main brand," he said.
 "We are seeing the average age of the customers in Bata store going down. We have now more millennials than the past," he said.
 When asked whether Bata has any plans to introduce new brands from its global fold, he said the company is not very keen to do that.
 "There is a huge opportunity for us to play with the brands which we have here. So we are not very keen to bring a new brand," he said adding that the company has licence for manufacture and sale of several global brands as Hush Puppies, Naturalizer.

Bata to use multi-channel retail strategy to reach more customers

New Delhi, Feb 6 () Leading footwear brand Bata India on Thursday reported a 14.75 per cent rise in its consolidated net profit to Rs 118.26 crore for the quarter ended December 2019 compared to Rs 103.05 crore in the year-ago period. Consolidated revenue from operations of the company stood at Rs 830.82 crore for the quarter under consideration against Rs 779.79 crore for the same period year ago, Bata India said in a filing to BSE. "Despite market headwinds and a pan-India cross-sectoral drop in consumer spending, Bata managed stable growth in Q3 2019-2020, improving its margins and EBIDTA," Bata India CEO Sandeep Kataria said. These results were due to company's continued focus on customer-centric portfolio including the new sneakers range, innovations in areas of comfort, design and materials, channel expansion in distribution business, modern trade and franchisee business, he added. "While new stores, renovations continued to elevate the store visual merchandising and consumer experience, we also focused on making operations more agile by investing in IT for the new age," Kataria said. New Delhi, Jan 26 () Digital gift card firm GyFTR expects to close the current financial year with twofold jump in its revenue at Rs 1,200 crore on account of companies attempting to retain customers through the loyalty or reward point ecosystem, a senior official of the company said.
 The firm sees a change in mindset of consumers to present gift cards and vouchers during special occasions instead of cash as another factor that is adding to its growth.
 "The company earned Rs 625 crore financial year ended March 2019. In the current financial year, we are targeting Rs 1,200 crore and we are more than sure that we will achieve that number," Gyftr co-founder and CEO Arvind Prabhakar told .
 He said that besides giving upfront discount, brands have started offering gift cards or electronic vouchers to connect with customers after they leave the point of sale and persuade them to visit their outlet again.
 "Just two banking networks currently have about 2,000 crore points that are generated in an annual base. Even 10 per cent of the 2,000 crore is 200 crore and this is a substantially large amount for a company. This is a reason why it is figured as a parallel currency," Prabhakar said.
 According to GyFTR, e-voucher or gift card market in India still stands at 10 per cent of its potential compared to adoption in global markets that offers the company further growth opportunity.
 "It's only larger companies that currently have adopted these technologies. Today, you will have gift vouchers of larger companies of Shoppers Stop, Bata, Croma, etc, but probably not have it for some small sweet shop. The penetration of a gift voucher across the brand that doesn't have this technology, that market is also 60 per cent," Prabhakar said.

Further details around the US relaunch will be revealed in the coming weeks, she said.Payless filed for <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/payless-bankruptcy-gift-cards-return-deadline-2019-2">Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection</a> in February 2019 and subsequently <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/payless-stores-closing-liquidation-sales-photos-2019-2">closed all 2,100 of its US stores</a> in what was one of the largest retail liquidations in history by store count. The company also shut down its US website, which now directs users to shop for its products on Amazon.Payless has since hired a new executive management team led by its new chief executive, Jared Margolis, who was formerly president of the brand management and licensing agency <a href="http://www.caa-gbg.com/">CAA-GBG</a>.Payless also hired Justo Fuentes, former president of BATA Latin America, to serve as CEO of its Latin American division, which is currently the company's largest business unit."We intend to leverage Payless' existing infrastructure, which is best in class and already includes product design, development, distribution, marketing, and a strong relationship with major footwear manufacturers," Margolis said in a statement. "Thus, providing the new Payless with the ability to be nimble, innovative, and to fast-track our biggest growth opportunity: the United States."The company said it plans to unveil a new strategy in 2020 that involves collaborating with "high-profile individuals and brands to ensure exclusive product offerings at a compelling price-point for its loyal base." The company said it's also considering new technologies to streamline the customer experience.

MTV’s Splitsvilla features a group of men and women who participate in a series of tasks to find true love. It is on the same lines as Australia’s Love Island. Whether he found love or not is not known but Alugh found his pot of gold. Even as his TV career took off, yet another source of money came from brands that he endorses to his many followers. He recently promoted a range of male grooming products StudioX got 5,759 views. His average monthly average views ranges between 25000- 30,000. Gaurav has been a social media influencer since five years. He endorses fashion and lifestyle brands along with his own acting projects. The journey started in 2016 when he left his job as a marketing consultant in Delhi for a TV show called Roadies. He did not win the title but made it to the grand finale. But his marketing background gave him an idea about how to put his fame to good use. “My Instagram followers who were about 500, skyrocketed to over 55k as soon as I appeared on Roadies. Guess appearing on television adds a lot of followers. People want to follow you and know everything about your life. So I thought why not monetise it. I started endorsing brands,” he told Business Insider India. In 2016 he promoted several brands. But fame is fickle. After he left the show, thousands of followers quit him too. “Everybody wants to follow you as long as you are on a reality show. But as soon as the show wraps up the engagement number shrinks,” Alugh said. Gaurav hired a marketing agency One Impression later which helped streamline his income. He also shot back to fame again when he participated in Splitsvilla XI. When he was on the show—- his follower base increased to 100k. Currently, Gaurav promotes fashion and lifestyle brands including Bata India, Paresh Lamba Signatures, U Tropicana Resort Alibaug, and Swatch India.  “Influencers with a transnational audience and millions of followers charge 6 to 7 digits for a marketing campaign. A micro influencer whose audience is in thousand charges nearly ₹6,000 for their services. On an average, influencers earn ₹20,000-30,000 a month. However, there are people who earn ₹800,000 or even a crore in a month,” said Apaksh Gupta, Founder &amp; CEO of an influencer marketing solution One Impression. In just a few years Gaurav’s income swelled by 4 times, said Gupta. Social media influencing has turned is the lucrative for influencers, brands and way to earn big money for influencers, marketing agencies and brands alike. In 2019, as much as <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/the-2019-influencer-marketing-report-2019-7?IR=T">brands spent $8 billion </a>was spent on influencer marketing. The global influencer marketing is expected to hit $20 billion by 2020, with India accounting to about $75 -100 million. But for an influencer, it is not as easy as clicking and posting. “When someone starts influencing digitally, they may not make any money but you will have to invest a lot more time and dedication towards what you are giving to your audience. But I know many Instagram influencers who are not able to differentiate between virtual and real life. They suffer from mental illness and depression when they lose follower,” Alugh told Business Insider India.
