Apple has reportedly leased 20,000 - 25,000 square feet to build its store in the Maker Maxity mall, co-owned by Reliance Industries, according to sources who spoke to the <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/industry/cons-products/electronics/apples-1st-own-india-outlet-to-come-up-at-bkc/articleshow/71415749.cms">Economic Times.</a> This will make it thrice the size of its largest franchisee store in India, which is around 8,000 square feet. Apparently the construction of the store is already underway and it will spread over three floors when it opens in September next year. The store will be similar to those in Hong Kong, which are around the same size. Apple did not confirm that it is currently building the store but stated, “We appreciate the support and hard work by Prime Minister Modi and his team to make this possible and we look forward to one day welcoming customers to India’s first Apple retail store. It will take us some time to get our plans underway and we’ll have more to announce at a future date.” Nothing to do with FDI norms Apple had already <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/apple-store-to-launch-in-mumbai-soon/articleshow/69246612.cms">announced plans</a> of launching its store in India in May, before the easing of foreign direct investment (FDI) norms in August this year. It plans to manufacture more high-end devices in India so that it could meet the government’s requirement to sourcing 30% of its material locally. Increasing its manufacturing in India was also a fall-out of the US-China trade war. Apple’s sales in China had been suffering, the local manufacturing sector was contracting and the company decided to <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/apple-iphone-mass-production-is-shifting-from-china-to-india-solving-a-key-problem-for-the-company/articleshow/68891132.cms">shift its base of operations</a>. But, the easing of FDI norms was beneficial for Apple — just in a different way. India’s first Apple Store opening in the Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai

Delhi’s <keyword id="90899" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Connaught-Place">Connaught Place</keyword> has slipped one place to become the world’s eighth costliest office location, according to property consultant Coldwell Banker Real Estate (CBRE). Mumbai’s <keyword id="102951" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bandra-Kurla-Complex">Bandra Kurla Complex</keyword> (BKC) was ranked 16th and <keyword id="6391251" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Nariman-Point">Nariman Point</keyword> 32nd in the list of Top 50 Costliest Global Office Markets. 
 
“At more than $150 per sq. ft. per annum, Delhi’s traditional central business district (CBD) of Connaught Place was ranked as the eighth most expensive office market in the world,” CBRE said. 
 
Last year, Connaught Place was ranked seventh while BKC and Nariman Point were at 15th and 32nd positions, respectively. 
“London’s West End remained the world’s highest priced office market, followed by Hong Kong (Central) and Beijing (Finance Street),” CBRE said. 
 
CBRE South Asia chairman &amp; MD Anshuman Magazine said, “This downward change in rankings in the CBD is due to a recovery in the global market. Locally, however, the demand levels remain stable and due to a lack of new supply, values remain high.” 
 
CBRE tracks occupancy costs for prime office space in 126 markets across the world. The survey provided data on the basis of office rents and occupancy costs as on 31 March, 2014. CBRE noted that Connaught Place remains highly sought after by corporate office occupiers because of its central location.

Fast forward a year later and that very office is now ready. 
 Located on the seventh floor of the <keyword id="3381278" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="One-BKC-Building">One BKC Building</keyword>, a commercial tower controlled by Radius developers, this office will serve as <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Facebook&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Facebook</a>’s permanent base in India. 
 
Not only will the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Facebook&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Facebook</a> India leadership operate out of here, but also its sales and marketing teams. Since the last two years, <keyword id="6354576" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Facebook">Facebook</keyword> India was temporarily operating out of a business centre in Bandra Kurla Complex.

The whole office boasts of an open area seating, with standing desks in plenty. The idea is to break the barriers that closed cabins come with and encourage creativity and productivity with informal seating. 
 
The office also offers the employees a gym allowance to promote a healthy lifestyle and also funds clubs if people are interested in a certain activity, such as reading or football. Additionally, the office cafe will not only whip up local Indian dishes but also healthy fare.

Mumbai, Jul 12 () The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has sealed actor Rekha's bungalow in suburban Bandra after a security guard there tested coronavirus positive, a civic official said on Sunday. The guard at the 65-year-old 'Umrao Jaan' actor's bungalow 'Sea Springs' tested positive on Tuesday, the official said. The BMC has put a board outside the premises declaring the place as a containment area. The security guard has been hospitalised at the BMC's COVID-19 care facility in Bandra Kurla Complex, he said. Apple CEO Tim Cook to welcome customers at Apple Store in Delhi

Focusing on three key segments - <keyword id="6377036" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="smart-cities">smart cities</keyword>, <keyword id="2892770" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Smart-communication">smart communication</keyword> systems and <keyword id="142962" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Security-Solutions">security solutions</keyword>, Indian multinational conglomerate <keyword id="45475" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Larsen-Toubro">Larsen &amp; Toubro</keyword> has come up with a new unit to cater to these segments. The business is likely to grow by $1 billion in next 3 to 4 years. 

	The government has big plans to push businesses in the three segments, therefore the Mumbai-headquartered engineering and construction company has formed a separate business unit, named Smart World and Communication, according to an Economic Times report. 
 

	The unit would tap the resources of the conglomerate's various verticals and subsidiaries to offer wholesome solutions in a first-of-its-kind initiative, a company official said. 
 

	"We have put together a small unit with 65 members which includes people from different verticals within the company and some people who have been especially hired for this," SN Subrahmanyan, board member and senior executive vice president (infrastructure and construction), told the financial daily. 
 

	The business unit is currently small but can become a strategic unit over a period of time if it receives orders. It can easily become a $1 billion business in 3-4 years, he said. 
 

	L&amp;T has diversified businesses ranging from technology, engineering, construction, manufacturing to financial services. It has done such projects in bits and pieces and now wants to leverage on the synergy among different businesses to execute turnkey solutions.
 

	"The government is talking about setting up 100 smart cities, even if 20 came up we will hopefully get big orders," Subrahmanyan said. 
 "In a way, we have been doing such projects as gated campuses for IT companies. We would now like to bid for bigger projects such as the one planned for the <keyword id="6369995" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Bandra-Kurla-Complex">Bandra-Kurla Complex</keyword> in Mumbai,” he said. 

	The Centre plans to spend Rs 1 lakh crore to build smart cities by 2020. These cities would have affordable housing in a cost-efficient and environment-friendly physical, social and institutional infrastructure set up for a better quality of living. 
 

	The Bandra-Kurla Complex is set to become the first smart district with Maharashtra state authorities calling for bids to complete the project by March next year.

Mumbai, Mar 27 () Japan International Cooperation Agency (Jica) has signed an agreement with the central government to provide an official development assistance (ODA) loan of 39,928 million yen (around Rs 2,480 crore) for Mumbai Metro Line 3.The ODA loan agreement was signed between the finance ministry and Katsuo Matsumoto, the chief representative of Jica in India.Matsumoto said, "Given the population of Mumbai, there is an essential need for the metro project in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Mass rapid transport systems also help in reducing pollution caused by private vehicles and improving living conditions".With a total of 33.7 km, entailing 26 stations, the Line 3 or the Colaba-Bandra-Seepz line is planned to connect southern part of the city with the major activity areas like Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), the airport, Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation area and Seepz area.The fully underground project is scheduled for completion by 2021.Overall, Jica has so far extended concessional ODA loans worth over 1 trillion yen (around Rs 60,000 crore) for the development of metro systems in New Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chennai, Mumbai and Ahmedabad. Mumbai metro line 3 gets Rs 2,480 cr Jica loan

Japanese multinational corporation (MNC) <keyword id="199230" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sumitomo-Corporation">Sumitomo Corporation</keyword> has bid a staggering Rs 2,238 crore for a three-acre plot in the prime Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) in central Mumbai, an official said here on Tuesday. "We have received the bid from the company for the plot here. However, the bid will be scrutinised and evaluated and will undergo our processes for other formal approvals before it is finalised. We cannot fix a timeframe for this," Dilip Kawathkar, Executive Director, <keyword id="64095" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mumbai-Metropolitan-Region-Development-Authority">Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority</keyword> (MMRDA), told IANS. The bid, which works out to around Rs 745 crore per acre, is billed among the biggest in the country in recent times, though the MMRDA officials declined to elaborate. Officials said if Sumitomo Corporation wins the bid, it may be entitled to a floor space index (FSI) of 4 permissible on the BKC plot, or a built-up area of approximately a million square feet. Established in 1919, the Tokyo headquartered Sumitomo Corporation is spread across Japan, Asia, Europe, America, Africa, East Asia and other countries globally, dealing in <keyword id="17408" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="infrastructure">infrastructure</keyword>, realty, media, metal products, transportation and construction systems, minerals, energy and chemicals.

The internship programme is for a web-based ‘Virtual Museum of Indian Securities Market’ started by SEBI. The last date to apply for this internship opportunity is October 30. The duration of the internship programme will be twelve months from the date of appointment. Interns will be offered a monthly stipend of ₹45,000 (without accommodation) or ₹35,000 (with accommodation by SEBI, which is also subject to availability). This programme will give an opportunity to individuals for creating research based original content writing and enhance their knowledge of securities market, content writing skills, while working on hands-on projects. Selected candidates would be posted to work under the Department of Economic and Policy Analysis (DEPA) of SEBI, which is located in Bandra-Kurla Complex, Mumbai. Eligibility criteria for this role — <ol><li>Candidates must be an Indian citizen of up to 30 years of age as on March 31, 2021. </li><li>Education qualification — Post-graduation or equivalent degree in economics/business/finance or minimum 60% aggregate marks at post-graduation level or equivalent cumulative grade points average (CGPA). </li><li>Published articles on securities market, economics, business, or finance in periodicals or reputed publications during the last five years. </li></ol>Applicants will be shortlisted by SEBI based on its eligibility criteria, documentary evidence submitted and skills. Candidates may be asked to appear for preliminary interviews in virtual mode and then the shortlisted candidates will be called for a personal interview. The date for the personal interview will be announced subsequently. Other general rules and regulations — <ol><li>Incomplete applications and applications without documentary evidence will be rejected. </li><li>The candidate will have to necessarily complete the twelve months’ period after joining and if she/he decides to quit in between, a notice period of at least one month must be served. If under any circumstances, the candidate is unable to serve the notice period she/he would have to pay an amount equivalent to one month’s stipend. </li><li>SEBI also has the right to terminate the internship with a notice period of one month without giving any reason. </li><li>Interns will be entitled to 12 days of leave in a year and if any additional leaves taken by the Interns shall lead to deduction in stipend.
