In order to maintain the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Marutis-sales-rose-16-in-March-making-it-a-good-way-to-end-FY-15-16/articleshow/51648291.cms" target="_BLANK￿￿￿￿">double-digit growth rate</a> that it had in the last fiscal, India's largest car maker <keyword id="44883" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Maruti-Suzuki">Maruti Suzuki</keyword> has decided to add one new car and a new variant of an existing model to its portfolio. Both the cars will be retailed only through Nexa, its premium dealership network. 
 
The New Delhi headquartered company will be rolling out a compact vehicle, christened as Ignis, while also launching a version of the Baleno compact which would be sold as RS variant. 
 
"We plan to drive in these two cars around the festive season," said Maruti Suzuki director (marketing and sales) R S Kalsi. As of now, the Nexa stores sell the S-Cross crossover and Baleno, because they are positioned as more upmarket and premium. 
 
The new compact car Ignis will be pitched to customers as a smart city car. Even though Nexa stores don’t have the variety of small cars, the company hopes to widen the choice at Nexa outlets with Ignis. Ignis was showcased at the auto expo at Greater Noida at the beginning of this year, describing it as a "smart compact urban vehicle". 
 
Baleno’s RS variant will come with a 1-litre direct injection, turbo-charged petrol engine, which would be more fuel-efficient, smaller in size and able to deliver a power output higher to the existing 1.2-litre petrol variant. It will carry a bold and aggressive design language, so that it can be pitched as a sportier variant. 
 
Baleno, which has been named after an earlier model from the company, has seen a sale of around 45,000 units. On the other hand, another new car from Maruti, Vitara Brezza, has seen over 38,000 bookings so far.

Maruti Suzuki is on a roll, will launch a new car Ignis and a Baleno variant this year

The <keyword id="6379565" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="baleno">Baleno</keyword> was first launched in India as a sedan. The car, then powered by a gutsy 1.6 litre engine, went on to garner quite the fan following amongst tuners and performance enthusiasts across the country. When production of the sedan stopped in 2007, it left many car aficionados sulking. Taking a leaf out of its own history books, <keyword id="44883" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maruti-Suzuki">Maruti Suzuki</keyword> chose to reintroduce the <a href="https://www.carandbike.com/maruti-suzuki-cars/baleno" data-type="tilCustomLink">Baleno </a>in 2015. This time, however, it was launched as a premium hatchback, aimed at the likes of the <keyword id="596" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hyundai">Hyundai</keyword> i20 and more recently, the <a href="https://www.carandbike.com/tata-cars/altroz" data-type="tilCustomLink">Tata Altroz</a>. Maruti Suzuki, keen to reinforce the premium identity of the Baleno, sells this hatch from its <keyword id="6382518" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="nexa">Nexa</keyword> outlets alone. Prices for this Maruti start off at Rs. 5.98 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi for the base Sigma model and go on to Rs. 9.30 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi for the top of the range Alpha Automatic variant. Although the Baleno hatch was initially launched with a diesel engine as an option, as of now, one can only choose between the 1.2 litre VVT engine and the 1.2 litre Dualjet Dual VVT motor, both of which will drink anything as long as it is petrol. Depending on which model you go for, the engine gets bolted on to either a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT. Once you close the bonnet and step back, you will at once feel that Maruti Suzuki’s HR manager has done a mighty fine job with regard to finding the right designer for the car’s aesthetics. The Baleno’s lines are simple, yet well defined. The surfaces are elegant and devoid of any superfluous slashes that seem to be the flavour of the season these days and the gentle contours in the right areas define the overall stance of the car. After admiring the exteriors, it is time to sample the car from within. The interiors aren’t exactly class leading but they are well appointed and seem to be of decent build quality that will age gracefully. The cabin space is ample for a family of four but if the 5th occupant is somebody other than a child, then the rear seat would seem cramped. On the go, the Baleno is a typical Maruti, and that is a good thing. The car is smooth and refined and will handle almost everything the road throws at it. Stomp on the accelerator and the engine revs up in no time, feeling almost motorcycle-like. Keep the engine buzzing and you’re in for the time of your life whilst chasing corners along an empty mountain road. Of course, this sort of spirited driving is best sampled with the short throw gear shift lever and the clutch pedal of the manual transmission which go a long way in enhancing the thrill of the experience. In the city, however, the effortlessness, convenience and smooth shifting of the CVT is where the joy is to be found. The Baleno’s ride quality is pliant and tackles road undulations with great aplomb. The handling is adequate and on par with the competition, but when you push this Suzuki hard, the tyres will make it ample clear when they’re reaching their limit. All in, the Baleno is a solid buy for all those who want the practicality, solid reliability and low cost of ownership that has come to be synonymous with the Maruti Suzuki marque; but with elegant design, a comfortable cabin and sprightly performance thrown in as well.

The current Maruti Suzuki Baleno is nothing like its previous namesake

Baleno’s petrol automatic variant, having continuously variable transmission (CVT), will be sold at Rs 6.76 lakh (all prices ex-showroom Delhi). 
 
Maruti's NEXA dealerships have already received display and demo units. 
 
Baleno is fitted with <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=apple+carplay">Apple CarPlay</a> and MSI will be the first OEM in India to offer it.

The model also has features including multi-information speedometer and UV reduction glasses. 
 Baleno is not only for the Indian market as <keyword id="44883" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maruti-Suzuki">Maruti Suzuki</keyword> will also manufacture and export the hatchback for 100 global markets. 
 
"Baleno is a real global model to satisfy our customers not only in India but also across global markets," said MSI Managing Director and CEO Kenichi Ayukawa, adding “the model comes with sophisticated design and advanced technology.” 
 
MSI and its supplier partners have raked in Rs 1,060 crore in Baleno’s development. 
 
Around 5-5.3 lakh compact segment cars are sold every year in India. 
 
Maruti Suzuki plans to launch several models this fiscal and has set a target of achieving two million sales annually by 2020.

Maruti Suzuki launches the Baleno, its most ambitious yet at Rs 4.99 lakh

<img class="gwt-Image" src="/photo/57358069.cms" /> <keyword id="6365618" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maruti-Suzuki-India">Maruti Suzuki India</keyword> (<keyword id="6392170" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="MSI">MSI</keyword>) has stopped selling one of its popular hatchbacks <keyword id="43819" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ritz">Ritz</keyword> in both domestic and international markets, confirmed a news report by <keyword id="6367495" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="PTI">PTI</keyword>. 
 
Launched in 2009 in both petrol and diesel versions, the Ritz sold a total of around 4 lakh units. 
 
Confirming the development, MSI spokesperson told : "As part of refreshing our product portfolio, we continuously review our portfolio and introduce new models." 
 
Stating that Ritz has been one of MSI's successful models in its portfolio, the spokesperson said it played a role in strengthening the company's presence amongst the modern compact cars. 
 "<keyword id="44883" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maruti-Suzuki">Maruti Suzuki</keyword> is committed to ensure availability of spare parts and service for next 10 years," the spokesperson added. 
 The company now sells the newly-launched Ignis, Swift, Celerio, Dzire and <keyword id="6379565" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="baleno">Baleno</keyword> in the compact segment, which witnessed 25.2 per cent growth in sales to 55,817 units last month as against 44,575 in the year-ago month. 
 
The car market leader had also recently discontinued sales of lower variants of premier crossover S-Cross featuring 1.6 litre diesel engine, due to low demand. 
 The company is now selling only the top-end <keyword id="175327" type="TECHNOLOGY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Alpha">Alpha</keyword> variant of the vehicle featuring 1.6 litre diesel engine, priced at Rs 12.03 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), from its premium retail channel Nexa. 
 
MSI, however, continues to sell all the three variants of the crossover powered by a smaller 1.3 litre diesel engine.

Tigor comes with features like LED Tail Lamp, projector headlamp, dual tone interiors, touchscreen Infotainment system, multi-drive mode, fully automated climate control. All these features, along with airbags and ABS packed on the higher variants, usually come in cars falling one segment above.

Tata Motors’ compact sedan Tigor launched for Rs 4.7 lakh

Maruti, the country's largest car maker, has claimed Ciaz is the most fuel-efficient car at 28 km per litre, thus raising the bar for <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=fuel+efficient+cars+">fuel efficient cars</a> in India. 
 
The new vehicle, which will replace the existing Ciaz diesel, and challenge <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Honda+City">Honda City</a>, will also put the spotlight on diesel cars, which were losing the edge to petrol variants. 
 
Apart from this the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Japanese+company+">Japanese company</a> has other plans too. It wants to cross the 30km per litre barrier with the new Swift and Dzire. The same technology will make its way in Ertiga hybrid in October and it may be fitted in all 1.3 litre diesel engine cars of <keyword id="44883" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Maruti-Suzuki">Maruti Suzuki</keyword> in future. 
 
It has also worked on 1.2 litre petrol hybrid, which will be available with the upcoming <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Suzuki+Baleno">Suzuki Baleno</a>, but only in overseas market. It expects almost half the new Ciaz and Ertiga sales to come from diesel hybrid version. 
 
Now see what Ciaz has to offer: It will come with a <keyword id="6911" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="suzuki">Suzuki</keyword> Hybrid Vehicle System (SHVS). The new vehicle has a mild hybrid system mated with a 1.3 litre diesel engine. While the technology will be imported, the high import cost will be offset by the incentives given by the government through lower <keyword id="6356916" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="excise-duty">excise duty</keyword> of 12.5% and subsidy extension of Rs 12,000- Rs 13,000 under electric and hybrid vehicle policy of FAME, which will help the company save over Rs 1 lakh on the ticket price.

It’s Maruti Ciaz Vs Honda City! The former launches its diesel hybrid at a starting price of Rs 8.23 lakh

New Delhi, The country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) on Monday said it is recalling 87,599 units of S-Presso and Eeco models to check and replace faulty steering tie rod. The recalled units were manufactured between July 5, 2021 and February 15, 2023, the auto major said in a statement. "It is suspected that there is a possible defect in a part of steering tie rod, used in such vehicles, which in a rare case, may break and affect vehicle steerability and handling," it noted. Affected vehicle owners will be receiving communication from the company-authorised dealer workshops for inspection and replacement of the faulty part, free of cost, Maruti Suzuki stated. The recall is effective from July 24, 2023, 06:30 pm onwards, it said. It is one of the largest recalls being undertaken by the company in recent times. In September 2021, MSI had recalled 1,81,754 units of petrol trims of various models, including Ciaz, Vitara Brezza and XL6, to replace faulty motor generator unit. In July 2020, the automaker recalled 1,34,885 units of WagonR and Baleno models to inspect and replace faulty fuel pumps. Similarly, in December 2019, the company had announced that it is recalling 63,493 units of petrol smart hybrid (SHVS) variants of Ciaz, Ertiga and XL6 models to rectify faulty motor generator unit (MGU). Maruti Suzuki shares on Monday ended 0.75 per cent down at Rs 9,694.70 apiece on the BSE.

The premium hatch segment in India is ablaze with competition. The interiors seem to cocoon you within them, but for taller occupants however, could feel a bit lacking when it comes to headroom. In the driver’s seat and behind the wheel, the 1 litre turbo petrol is the most exciting of the lot. It shines brightest when coupled to the iMT, because with the DCT, there is some lag felt at lower revs. With the manual transmission, don’t be surprised if you get tempted to stomp the throttle all the way to the firewall every time when starting off at a signal. And yes, succumbing to that temptation is so very addictive! The i20 carves corners like a knife cutting through butter. But surprisingly, despite its rather sporty aspirations, the ride quality is quite good. Only the worst potholes overwhelm the i20’s suspension, but then again, those craters can make SUVs tremble! The i20 has gone through several changes through the years, and it safe to say that with every evolution, it has only got better. The current version is the best there ever has been and this proves that sometimes, even perfection can improve.
