<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Bajaj+Auto+">Bajaj Auto </a>has launched a series of cruiser bikes ahead of Diwali, the time when most Indian households prefer to make big purchases. The newly-launched invention of <keyword id="6358511" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bajaj">Bajaj</keyword> comes under its <keyword id="387879" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Avenger">Avenger</keyword> brand of bikes. 
 <keyword id="45497" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rajiv-Bajaj">Rajiv Bajaj</keyword>, MD of India’s leading two-wheeler manufacturer, said, that he is pretty sure that the new range of 220cc and 150cc bikes are capable of helping the firm grow by 8-9% in the premium segment, for a shorter term though. 
 
Bajaj, further, said that one should not wonder if the Avenger sales jump to 10,000-15,000 units a month. As of now, the company is selling around 4,000 units in a month’s time. 
 
While showing his confidence on the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Bajaj+Avenger+">Avenger </a>series, Bajaj said, "My confidence comes from a time-tested approach of creating something which is the opposite of what's there in the market. When everybody is presenting one format of a bike, we are presenting something different with the Avenger. And hopefully people who are tired of buying the same thing will go for something new and exciting." 
 <keyword id="6359783" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bajaj-Auto">Bajaj Auto</keyword> had felt that the current model of Avenger that is available in the market is apt for a select segment of consumers. This was the reason why the sale was limited to just 4,000 units a month. 
 
In its newly-introduced series of Avenger bikes, the Pune-headquartered company has provided a variety in price, cubic capacity, design and feel. 
 
While sharing the growth details of various category bikes manufactured by Bajaj Auto, an official statement revealed, "Our segment share in the sports bike category has come close to 40%, thanks to the new range of Pulsar bikes. With this segment making up for 18% of the overall 8.5 lakh units a month, the premium segment constitutes about 1.6 lakh units per month. An incremental gain of 11,000 units can easily help us increase the segment share by 7-8%, which may take our share to over 45%."

Bajaj gives you reasons to go for its newly-launched Avenger this Diwali

After 15-month-long tussle with workers, Pune-based <keyword id="6358511" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Bajaj">Bajaj</keyword> Auto and its Chakan plant union have finally reached a wage agreement under which the management has agreed to hike the wages by up to Rs 10,000 a month. The intermittent unrest has affected the production of Bajaj Auto. 
 
Under the new wage agreement, permanent employees having been with the company for five or more years will get a wage hike of Rs 10,000 a month. On the other hand, those having spent three years or more will be given Rs 9,500 a month. 
 “We are happy that the Chakan union has agreed to our proposals on the wage hike, which we had come up with at the time we entered into negotiations with them,” said a company official, confirming the wage hike pact that <keyword id="310993" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Bajaj-Autos">Bajaj Autos</keyword> signed with its union. 
 The new agreement was reached last week with the management and the <keyword id="2477414" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Chakan-plant-employees-union">Chakan plant employees’ union</keyword>, <keyword id="2475952" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Vishwakalyan-Kamgar-Sanghatna">Vishwakalyan Kamgar Sanghatna</keyword>. According to people in the company familiar with the matter said that under the settlement agreement, the management has also decided to convert the earlier Rs 12,000 annual attendance award for full attendance to Rs 1,000 a month. 
The revised agreement will be effective, retrospectively, from April 1, 2013 for three years and ends the near 18-month uncertainty, which witnessed frequent strikes and labour unrest at the company’s main plant at Chakan near Pune. 
 Apart from the wage hike, the other major demand was the near-free allotment of Bajaj shares to them through an ESOP (employee stock ownership plan) agreement. Bajaj Autos managing director and chief executive <keyword id="45497" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Rajiv-Bajaj">Rajiv Bajaj</keyword> had vehemently opposed this. Notably, the new wage agreement does not include the ESOP. 
 
Under the new agreement, 60% of the revised wage will be part of the basic pay and the rest in allowances. Besides, the existing regular attendance bonus of Rs 480 has been revised and half of this (Rs 240) will be merged and the rest divided into weekly pay of Rs 60 each. 
 
Both the Bajaj management and the union have also agreed to withdraw all cases related to Chakan plant within 15 days of the date of settlement. 
 The Chakan plant employs over 2,000 workers. This includes around 900 permanent employees. The company produces 1.2 million motorcycles, including the flagship <keyword id="76971" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="60" keywordseo="Pulsar">Pulsar</keyword>, the <keyword id="387879" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Avenger">Avenger</keyword>, the <keyword id="57645" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Ninja">Ninja</keyword> and the KTM brands, per year.

Mumbai, Jan 6 () Equity benchmark BSE Sensex extending early losses to plunge over 700 points in afternoon session on Monday as escalation in tensions in the Middle East fuelled intense selloff in global equities.
 The 30-share BSE index was trading 699.31 points or 1.69 per cent lower at 40,765.30. Similarly, the broader NSE Nifty cracked 209.50 points or 1.71 per cent to 12,017.15.
Bajaj Finance was the top loser in the Sensex pack, diving up to 4 per cent, followed by SBI, HDFC, Maruti, Asian Paints Hero MotoCorp and IndusInd Bank.
 On the other hand, Titan and Tech Mahindra were trading in the green.
 According to traders, domestic market witnessed heavy selloff as global stocks slumped after US President Donald Trump vowed "major retaliation" if Iran tries to avenge the killing of its key military commander Qasem Soleimani and doubled down on a threat to bomb Iranian cultural sites.
 He also threatened to impose "very big sanctions" on Iraq if it follows through on a parliament vote calling for the expulsion of US troops based in the country.
 Following the news Brent, oil prices surged nearly 3 per cent to USD 70.59.
 Bourses in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo and Seoul were trading up to 2 per cent lower.

Sensex nosedives over 700 pts amid rising geopolitical tensions

New Delhi, Jan 6 () Investor wealth tumbled by a whopping Rs 3.36 lakh crore in two successive sessions of decline in the equity market following escalation in tensions in the Middle East.
 Equity markets fell for second consecutive session, with the 30-share key BSE index plummeting 787.98 points, or 1.90 per cent, to close at 40,676.63, on Monday. During the trade, it dropped 850.65 points to 40,613.96.
 The Sensex had ended 162.03 points, or 0.39 per cent, lower at 41,464.61 on Friday as well.
 Led by the weakness in equities in two consecutive trading sessions, the market capitalisation of BSE-listed companies plunged by Rs 3,36,559.82 crore to Rs 1,53,90,312.60 crore.
 "Indian markets started the week on a negative note amid escalation of geopolitical tensions between the US and Iran. Rising crude oil prices and adverse rupee movement too impacted the sentiments," Religare Broking Ltd VP - Research Ajit Mishra said. 
 "Amongst the broader markets, BSE midcap and smallcap underperformed. All the sectoral indices witnessed heavy selling pressure and ended with losses wherein auto, banking and metals were the top losers," he added. 
 US President Donald Trump on Sunday vowed "major retaliation" if Iran tries to avenge the killing of its key military commander Qasem Soleimani.
 Brent crude oil futures surged nearly 2 per cent to USD 69.81 on Monday, while the rupee depreciated 24 paise against the US dollar to 72.04 (intra-day).
 On the Sensex chart, Bajaj Finance was the top loser, dropping 4.63 per cent, followed by SBI, IndusInd Bank, Maruti and HDFC.
 At the BSE, 1,944 stocks declined, while 604 advanced and 181 remained unchanged.

Investors become poorer by over Rs 3 lakh cr in two days of mkt fall

In a patriarchal society, women are told to cook and feed the family and stay confined within the four walls. So much so, they are told to cover their faces and remain under a veil. However, Roshni Misbah has smashed all these <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=stereotypes+&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">stereotypes </a>and has carved a niche for herself. 
 
Even in today’s world, when most men frown upon the idea of women riding bikes, 22-year-old Misbah is teaching them a thing or a two. Well, this doesn’t mean she is not following her religious beliefs. Misbah attracts eyeballs as she rides a bike wearing a hijab. 
 
 
 
“My bike doesn’t know my gender. It only knows that a person is riding it, irrespective of the gender,” says Misbah. She is currently pursuing Arab Islamic Culture at <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Jamia+Millia+Islamia&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Jamia Millia Islamia</a> in <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=New+Delhi&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">New Delhi</a>. 
 
 
 
Misbah rode a bike for the first time when she was in the ninth standard. “I always had a thing for bikes. The sound of the exhaust would make me go gaga and I just loved it,” she said.

Initially, she tried her hand on her friend’s and her father’s motorcycle for years, but then after getting into Jamia, Misbah bought her first bike- Bajaj Avenger Cruiser 220. But that wasn’t enough, in a few months, Misbah was talking to the wind and driving at 100kmph and that was when she decided to upgrade. 
 
“I bought the Avenger thinking that I will improve my riding and will use it for at least two years, but before I could even notice, I was talking to the wind and that’s when I bought the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Royal+Enfield&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Royal Enfield Bullet</a>,” said Misbah. 
 
 
 
When asked about her motivation, she said that her father, who is also a badass rider, was her motivation and she has been following his footsteps. 
 
“I feel riding is in my genes. My father taught me how to ride and has supported me in pursuing my passion. I really don’t care about the society and what they think and as long as I am happy and doing what I want to,” said the biker. 
 
 
 
However, she doesn’t like people calling her as the ‘Hijabi Biker’ as religion has nothing to what she is doing. 
 
“Religion is a part of me and riding is my passion. People are just mixing these two up and I really can’t understand why,” she said. 
 
 
 
Misbah wants to do a PhD in Arab culture, help her father in the family business, and continue to ride motorcycles. She has already set her sights on her next steed, a <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Triumph&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Triumph</a> rocket 2300 cc.
