In spite of several bottlenecks, the NHAI has set up impressive targets and aims to develop 20 km/day, in a bid to fast-track the country’s <keyword id="2034194" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Road-network-expansion">road network expansion</keyword>. 
 As of July 2013, <keyword id="6373156" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="National-Highways">national highways</keyword> account for 79,116 km, connecting all major cities and state capitals. Expressways, however, differ a bit in the sense they are controlled-access highways like the <keyword id="610047" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="freeways">freeways</keyword> or <keyword id="1333990" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="motorways">motorways</keyword> or autobahnen in the US and Europe, essentially designed for high-speed traffic. As of now, most of the expressways in India are 6-8 lane <keyword id="120837" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="toll-roads">toll roads</keyword> and cover a total distance of nearly 1,208.19 km. India expects to add another 3,530 km of expressways by 2014 as projects under construction get completed. Another massive programme is also under way to expand the network and the Indian government plans to add an additional 18,637 km of expressways by 2022.

<keyword id="48503" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="alstom" source="Orion">Alstom</keyword>, a global leader in smart and sustainable mobility, has been awarded the contract to design, manufacture, supply, test, and commission 312 standard gauge metro cars for <keyword id="6366797" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="delhi-metro" source="Orion">Delhi Metro</keyword> Phase IV expansion by the <keyword id="66" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="delhi" source="Orion">Delhi</keyword> Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). The order worth EUR312 million (Rs 2,643 crore approx.) includes the design and manufacturing of 234 standard gauge metro cars for Line 7 extension, which is 12.558 km of Pink line on the Mukundpur- Maujpur corridor and, the Line 8 extension, which is 28.92 km of Magenta line for the Janakpuri West - RK Ashram corridor, according to a statement from Alstom. Alstom will also design and manufacture of 78 standard gauge metro cars for the 23.622 km Silver line between Aerocity and Tughlakabad, including 15-year maintenance of these 78 cars. The statement said that Alstom would supply its Metropolis trainsets for this order. Metropolis trains offer a unique design, a wide range of configurations and ensure the highest performance due to the perfect combination of proven and reliable components and innovations, the company said. With its extensive track record, low lifecycle costs, and keen focus on passenger experience, Alstom said its Metropolis metros set the standard around the world. Talking about the new contract, Olivier Loison, Managing Director, Alstom India Cluster, said that "Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) is amongst the largest urban clusters in the world. Faced with the realities of climate change, such megacities need reliable and sustainable public transport solutions. Alstom is pleased to continue the partnership with Delhi Metro, one of Asia's largest rapid transit systems. Our trains have a high recyclability of all materials and low-weight design to reduce energy consumption that will greatly contribute to minimising environmental impact in the region." Alstom said it had delivered more than 800 metro cars that are in service for the Delhi Metro network. The new trains will be built at Alstom's largest urban rolling stock manufacturing site in Sricity (<keyword id="37102" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="andhra-pradesh" source="Orion">Andhra Pradesh</keyword>), which has a strong portfolio of delivering for major domestic and international projects, according to the company. Currently, the Delhi Metro network consists of about 391 km with 286 stations. The network has now crossed the boundaries of Delhi to reach Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad in <keyword id="6357713" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="uttar-pradesh" source="Orion">Uttar Pradesh</keyword>, Gurugram, Faridabad, Bahadurgarh and Ballabhgarh in Haryana. In addition to providing rolling stock, Alstom said it had in the past partnered with DMRC for several other projects, including the successful implementation of supply and commissioning of train control and signalling system for DMRC's Red line (L1), Yellow line (L2), Green line (L5), Violet line (L6), Pink line (L7) during Phase I, II and III. Alstom bags Rs 2,643 crore order to design, manufacture 312 metro cars for Delhi Metro Phase IV

After making its maiden foray in Gurugram in 1983, country's largest car maker <keyword id="6363602" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="maruti-suzuki-india-ltd" source="Orion">Maruti Suzuki India Ltd</keyword> is going to set up its third facility with an outlay of Rs 18,000 crore in <keyword id="41646" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="haryana" source="Orion">Haryana</keyword> that will give boost to the auto industry. The automaker already has two manufacturing facilities in Haryana. The upcoming facility will have a production capacity of 250,000 vehicles per annum and is expected to be commissioned by 2025. In the past few years, Haryana has made rapid strides on several fronts, including industrial development, under the leadership of Chief Minister <keyword id="2458540" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="manohar-lal-khattar" source="Orion">Manohar Lal Khattar</keyword>, an official statement said on Tuesday. Haryana is well on its way to inclusive growth driven by a strong commitment of the government towards public welfare and ensuring the advanced facilities to its citizens. Likewise, the government is actively working towards making the state an industrial and automobile hub. The growth in automobile sector in the state can be gauged by the fact that <keyword id="44883" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="maruti-suzuki" source="Orion">Maruti Suzuki</keyword> is coming up with its third plant in the state. <keyword id="6912" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="maruti" source="Orion">Maruti</keyword> Suzuki India Ltd, Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Ltd and Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (HSIIDC) will sign an agreement for the allotment of 800-acre and 100 acre land at IMT Kharkhoda, respectively, at a ceremony on May 19 in Gurugram amidst the presence of the Chief Minister. The event would also celebrate the four decades of Haryana-Japan business relationship, which began in 1981 and continues to flourish even today, says the statement. Chief Minister Khattar said this is a huge achievement for the state as Maruti is setting up its third plant in the state. He said Maruti Suzuki has purchased an additional 800 acres at IMT Kharkhoda for its proposed new car manufacturing facility. The total project cost is estimated to be Rs 18,000 crore. It has the potential to generate employment for 11,000 skilled, unskilled and semi-skilled persons. Along with Maruti Suzuki, Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Ltd has also purchased a 100-acre land parcel for setting up an integrated manufacturing facility for two-wheelers, including engines. The total project cost is estimated to be Rs 1,466 crore, with a potential to generate employment for 2,000 skilled, unskilled and semi-skilled persons. "India is performing well in the ease-of-doing business and the ease-of-living index and Haryana is considered the fastest in both these respects. Haryana is one of the favourite destinations for global investors. Maruti played a major role towards development in the automobile sector and overall progress of the state," said the Chief Minister. "This will give a huge boost to the automobile sector and will motivate multinational companies in other sectors to set up their headquarters and manufacturing plants in Haryana. Along with this, new employment opportunities will also be created for the youth of the state. "Haryana has emerged as a magnet for the industry due to its enabling policies, availability of quality infrastructure, ease-of-doing business, conducive business environment and incentive structure. In Haryana, work was done to develop the industrial areas near the GT Roads and its proximity with Delhi other states too made it more preferred destination for industrial projects and there are dozens of industrial areas in multiple districts," said Khattar. The Industrial Model Township (IMT) at Kharkhoda, where Maruti Suzuki will be setting up its project, is an integrated industrial township with world-class infrastructure, being developed over an area of approximately 3,217 acres. It is strategically located on the Delhi-Haryana border, adjoining the western peripheral (Kundli-Manesar-Palwal) Expressway and State Highway 18. The IMT has abundant water and power supply from the NCR canal and the electricity utilities. Due to its proximity to Delhi and direct connectivity with Delhi Bahadurgarh, Gurugram and Sonipat via the KMP Expressway, Kharkhoda IMT will emerge as the next node for industrial development in Haryana. Regarding the expansion of Maruti Suzuki's foothold in Haryana, a spokesperson for the carmaker company said the company was in discussion with various state governments for their expansion plan but they find Haryana a suitable destination. "This first manufacturing facility at the site will have a production capacity of 250,000 vehicles per annum. It is expected to be commissioned by 2025. The land site will have space for capacity expansion and will include more production plants in the future," said the spokesperson. Notably, after setting up its first car plant at Gurugram in 1983, Maruti has steadily expanded its manufacturing footprint in Haryana by setting up a production facility at Manesar and a state-of-the-art R&amp;D centre in Rohtak. The two plants in Haryana - Gurugram and Manesar - together roll out around 15.5 lakh units annually. Today, the Gurugram-Manesar-Bawal belt is acknowledged as the auto hub of northern India. New Delhi, Jun 29 () Well-known club cricketer and former Delhi U-23 support staff Sanjay Dobal died on Monday morning after failing to recover from COVID-19 infection, a source close to the family said. Dobal was 53 years old and is survived by his wife and two sons - elder Siddhant, who plays first-class cricket for Rajasthan and younger Ekansh, who made his debut for Delhi U-23 side. "Dobal showed symptoms and was first admitted to a medical facility in Bahadurgarh, a week back. He had tested positive for COVID-19. However his condition deteriorated and was shifted to a Dwarka hospital with better facilities. He was given plasma but treatment didn't work," a DDCA official in the know of things told . A familiar figure at the Feroz Shah Kotla, Dobal was popular among the well-known Delhi cricketers like Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Mithun Manhas. He also played for the famous Sonnet Club and was coached by Tarak Sinha. The new centres make the fulfillment process simpler for the manufacturer-sellers so that they can devote all their resources towards production,” said a Snapdeal spokesperson. The new centres are located in Bahadurgarh, Rajkot, Bhiwandi, Agra, Yamuna Nagar, Noida, Mathura and Mumbai. “The expansion is part of a decentralized network designed by Snapdeal, where its centres are located within commercial hubs inside a city to ensure faster pickup of packets from the sellers,” said the company. Innovative tech ideas like 'Humsafar' will bring new technology and know-how to the market as well as generate employment that will positively impact the economy as well as the bulk consumers of diesel," Labour Minister Santosh Gangwar said at the app launch event. The app will be used for the fuel delivery services to housing societies, hotels, hospitals, malls, construction sites, industries, banquets and other bulk buyers of diesel in various NCR cities, including Gurugram, Ghaziabad, Noida, Faridabad, Hapur, Kundli, Manesar, and Bahadurgarh. Sanya Goel, director and founder of Humsafar, said the main idea of introducing this service is to help entities such as housing societies, industries and malls avoid the hassle of transporting large amounts of fuel from the fuel station to the desired destination. "This would also cut down the unsafe practices of transporting the fuel and ensure a highly secured mode of transport by Humsafar delivery dispensers." (have) made up their mind to explore other destinations," Khattar said Saturday evening in a televised address to the people of the state about COVID-19 situation."As per our information, 1,000 investors are those who want to take out their investments from China and go to other countries. We are in touch with them. Through video conferencing, we have talked to some of the investors," He said the investors from Japan, America, Korea, Germany, Australia, Taiwan want to come and invest in India.Khattar said Haryana was offering a congenial atmosphere to such investors for investment."In terms of 'Ease of Doing Business', we were at 16th spot in 2014 and now we are at 3rd position," he said.As part of the state government's strategy to woo the investors, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Rajesh Khullar, held an open house with potential investors on May 6, 7 and 8 through video conferencing/webinars.The Haryana government has prepared a strategy to create windows in the existing state policies that would ensure quickly setting up manufacturing facilities in any industrial estate of the choice of investors wanting to shift base from China, the statement had said.Earlier in the day, Khattar held a webinar with more than 100 representatives of MSMEs.The chief minister said he had assured them that the state government was with them in this hour of crisis, as the COVID-19 situation had in particular dealt a blow to the MSME sector.Many labourers get employment in this sector, he said, adding with economic activities restarting amid lockdown, nearly 3 lakh workers are working now in this sector. All the 90 assembly seats will go for polling on October 21, 2019 since the term of the present ruling government will end on November 2. To fulfill the mandates of the constitution, the election commission has declared the election in this state. The schedule published by the EC says the votes will be counted on October 24, 2019. The results are expected to be declared on the same day by evening. During 2014 general elections for the Vidhan Sabha, BJP bagged 47 seats. The second highest score was reported by the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) which could win from 19 seats. The congress which was ruling at that time could get only 15 seats. Two seats were won by the Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC), Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) won one seat each. There were also five independent candidates who won the elections from different constituencies. AAP could not get even a single seat during the said elections.
