The Alto K10 range is priced from Rs 3.99 lakh and Rs 5.96 lakh while the S-Presso trims are tagged between Rs 4.26 lakh and Rs 6.11 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). In August, sales of the company's mini segment cars, comprising Alto and S-Presso, declined to 10,648 units last month as against 12,209 units a year ago. SEBI, in three separate notifications, has brought in new norms amid growing concerns about the potential risk associated with such <keyword id="21258588" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="finfluencers" source="keywords">finfluencers</keyword>. SEBI's board had approved the <keyword id="20306338" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="new-regulations" source="keywords">new regulations</keyword> in a proposal last month. <h2>What are the new regulations for finfluencers?</h2>As per the new regulations, SEBI-regulated entities and their agents are restricted from engaging in financial transactions, client referrals or interaction of information technology systems with any other person who, directly or indirectly, provides advice, recommendations or makes explicit claims of return. No person regulated by the Board (SEBI) or the agent of such a person shall have any direct or indirect association with another person who provides advice or any recommendation, directly or indirectly, in respect of or related to a security or securities, unless the person is registered with or otherwise permitted by the Board to provide such advice or recommendation; or makes any claim, of returns or performance expressly or impliedly, in respect of or related to a security or securities, unless the person has been permitted by the Board to make such a claim," SEBI said. SEBI has revised the regulations governing depository participants, intermediaries, and securities contracts. This will prevent mutual fund houses, registered investment advisors (RIA) and stock brokers from partnering with such influencers. SEBI has however allowed an exception for a limiter period for investor education partnerships. In such partnerships, finfluencers will not be allowed to offer recommendations or make claims about returns or financial performance. The new norms have been introduced to protect retail investors who get easily influenced by such entities offering biased or misleading information to earn a commission. Telangana govt steps up relief measures following heavy rains

Gadkari stated that the government needs the support of the states to promote <keyword id="23007559" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="flex-engine-vehicles" source="keywords">flex engine vehicles</keyword> by reducing GST up to 12 per cent on <keyword id="23007560" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="flex-engines" source="keywords">flex engines</keyword>, cars, and scooters. "We will try to convince all the finance ministers. Yesterday I had the opportunity to discuss with the finance minister of Maharashtra and I told him, you please go to the meeting and put up this proposal for reducing GST up to 12 per cent on flex engines, cars, and scooters," he said. Addressing IFGE's India Bio-Energy and Tech Expo in New Delhi, the Union Minister added that factors such as economic viability, proven technology, availability of raw material, and marketability of the finished product are in favour of the development of these engines. Gadkari said that developing flex-fuel engines is the target of the government, and we have the "proven technology" to make it possible. "I feel that now the flex fuel is very, very important. Already the managing director of Tata, Suzuki and Toyota, they have decided to start flex engine car in the country," the Union Minister stated. Gadkari added, "So the flex engine is the ultimate target. As far as the market is concerned, there is huge potential. Everywhere, as far as a comparison between fossil fuel and <keyword id="20228373" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="biofuel" source="keywords">biofuel</keyword>, in the Indian scenario, the cost of biofuel is less and there is no pollution. So that is the important reason that it is going to be advantageous to the common man also," the Minister stated. Going further, Gadkari said that vehicle companies such as Bajaj, TVS, and Hero, along with two or three other companies, have their models ready with flex engines to run on 100 per cent <keyword id="20069651" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ethanol" source="keywords">ethanol</keyword>. He said, "Many of the generator manufacturers are working to change the diesel generators into ethanol. One of the companies is also they are taking an interest in converting 5 lakhs of telecommunication towers there and 250 crore litre consumption of diesel. Now they are also changing into ethanol." He further stated that the raw material is already available in India, there is a need to think about ways to increase the production of biomass, which can be useful for making biofuel. Gadkari asked states to pitch for reducing GST on flex engine vehicles

India's manufacturing sector growth moderated in August as output and sales rose at slowest rates since January, while competitive pressures and inflation concerns hampered business confidence, a monthly survey said on Monday. The seasonally adjusted HSBC India Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) stood at 57.5 in August, below July's reading of 58.1 but above its long-run average of 54.0, signalling a substantial improvement in operating conditions. In PMI parlance, a print above 50 means expansion, while a score below 50 denotes contraction. "The Indian manufacturing sector continued to expand in August, although the pace of expansion moderated slightly. New orders and output also mirrored the headline trend, with some panellists citing fierce competition as a reason for slowdown," <keyword id="20045866" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Pranjul-Bhandari" source="keywords">Pranjul Bhandari</keyword>, Chief India Economist at HSBC, said. According to the survey, new business rose sharply through the second quarter of the fiscal year, but the pace of expansion eased to a seven-month low. New export orders, likewise, increased at the weakest pace since the start of the 2024 calendar year. On the prices front, goods producers benefited from a moderation in cost pressures during August. "On a positive note, the rise in input costs slowed sharply. Manufacturers increased their raw material buying activity in order to build safety stocks. In line with input costs, the pace of output price inflation also decelerated, but the deceleration was to a much smaller extent, thereby increasing margins for manufacturers," Bhandari added. The survey further noted that job creation softened midway through the second fiscal quarter as a few firms trimmed headcounts. Nevertheless, the overall rate of employment growth was solid in the context of historical data. According to the survey, business confidence retreated and panelists were at their least optimistic level since April 2023. "Business outlook for the year ahead moderated slightly in August, driven by competitive pressures and inflation concerns," Bhandari said. Meanwhile, India's <keyword id="19900794" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="economic-growth" source="keywords">economic growth</keyword> slowed to a 15-month low of 6.7 per cent in April-June 2024-25, mainly due to poor performance of the agriculture and services sectors, government data showed on Friday. The gross domestic product (GDP) expanded 8.2 per cent in the June quarter of 2023-24. The HSBC India Manufacturing PMI is compiled by S&amp;P Global from responses to questionnaires sent to purchasing managers in a panel of around 400 manufacturers. Indian manufacturers see softer increases in new business, output in August: PMI

The <keyword id="20721290" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nifty-50-index" source="keywords">Nifty 50 index</keyword> opened with a gain of 97.70 points or 0.39 per cent at 25,333.60, while the <keyword id="21884980" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="BSE-Sensex-index" source="keywords">BSE Sensex index</keyword> began the week with a gain of 0.44 per cent or 359 points at 82,725.28 points. Market experts pointed out that the <keyword id="19908008" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="volatility" source="keywords">volatility</keyword> in markets is expected this week. The US August payrolls data, along with revised data for the last two months, will be market-mover and will be released at the end of the week. Fed rate cuts are also expected this month, with investors waiting for it cautiously. "September starts with the Fed rate cuts imminent and volatility expected around the event. For Indian markets, we expect a minor correction as 12 record-breaking days of continuous positive moves will see some profit-taking setting in. A gap up is expected today but at some point some selling is expected at these all-time high levels. We expect a flat to slightly lower market this week, mostly due to some reversion to mean after 12 record-breaking continuously positive moves," said Ajay Bagga, Banking and Market Expert to ANI. In the Nifty 50 list, 42 shares opened with advances, while 8 stocks started the week with a decline. In the broader market, all indices, including Nifty Next 50 and Nifty 100, opened with gains, but the India Volatility Index (India VIX) also surged by more than 2 per cent. In the sectoral indices, Nifty Auto declined due to the drop in vehicle sales in August. Nifty Media, Nifty PSU Bank, and Nifty Metal also showed corrections. Nifty IT led with a gain of 0.65 per cent in the sectoral indices. Globally, <keyword id="19900617" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="stock-markets" source="keywords">stock markets</keyword> are cautious ahead of major data releases this week, with markets showing flat movement. Asian markets showed a mixed response on Monday. Japan's Nikkei 225 saw a minor correction of 0.04 per cent, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng declined by more than 1.70 per cent. Taiwan's Taiwan Weighted traded flat with a marginal gain, while South Korea's KOSPI index gained 0.12 per cent. Indonesia's Jakarta Composite gained 0.58 per cent at the time of filing this report. Stock markets open in a positive zone but experts suggest Volatility this week

The Maharashtra government has hiked fees for "choice numbers," commonly known as <keyword id="23003999" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="VIP-numbers" source="keywords">VIP numbers</keyword>, for <keyword id="19994022" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="new-vehicles" source="keywords">new vehicles</keyword>, which will translate into revised Rs 6 lakh charge for the most sought-after '0001' number for four-wheelers in high-demand areas like Mumbai, Pune, and other cities. Interestingly, the new fees mean that an out-of-series VIP number will cost up to Rs 18 lakh in major cities including Mumbai and Pune, which incidentally is the cost of new cars in the mid-segment. As per the transport department's notification dated August 30, the cost for the coveted number '0001' will rise to Rs 5 lakh for four-wheelers, up from the current Rs 3 lakh. For two and three-wheelers, the fee will increase to Rs 1 lakh, doubling from the existing Rs 50,000. In high-demand areas such as Mumbai, Mumbai Suburban, Pune, Thane, Raigad, Aurangabad, Nashik, Kolhapur, and Nashik, the VIP fee for '0001' will be Rs 6 lakh, up from Rs 4 lakh for vehicles with four or more wheels. Many high net-worth individuals, top businessmen, politicians, and celebrities among others prefer VIP numbers for their expensive cars. The revised 'three-time basic fees' will be Rs 15 lakh for four-wheelers and more-wheeled vehicles and Rs 3 lakh for two- and three-wheelers if the number '0001' is unavailable in the current series for that particular type of vehicle and if it needs to be given from another series as per the rules, the notification stated. The new fees mean that an out-of-series VIP number will cost up to Rs 18 lakh in major cities including Mumbai and Pune, comparable to the price of several mid-segment cars. Previously, the fee was Rs 12 lakh, a sum paid by entities like Reliance Industries for such numbers after opting for it "out of series" in the last few years. Additionally, the state government has allowed the transfer of VIP numbers to immediate family members, including spouses, sons, and daughters, a change from the previous restriction against such transfers. This fee revision, which follows a draft notification issued on September 16, 2022, represents the first update since the last fee revision on April 20, 2013. Maharashtra has identified 240 VIP numbers in each registration series, with notable numbers like 0009, 0099, 0999, 9999, and 0786, apart from 0001, seeing a fee increase to Rs 2.5 lakh up from Rs 1.5 lakh for four-wheelers and more-wheeled vehicles and Rs 50,000 for two-wheelers and three-wheelers instead of the existing Rs 20,000. Fees for other sought-after numbers is also increased. For 16 popular numbers, the new fee is Rs 1 lakh for four-wheelers instead of the existing Rs 70,000 and Rs 25,000 for two-wheelers from Rs 15,000. For 49 additional numbers, the fee has been raised to Rs 70,000 from current Rs 50,000 for four-wheelers and Rs 15,000 for two and three-wheelers. For another set of 189 registration numbers, like 0011, 0022, 0088, 0200, 0202, 4242, 5656 and 7374, the revised fees are Rs 25,000 for four-wheelers and Rs 6,000 for two-wheelers and more than two-wheel vehicles. In a move to benefit vehicle owners, the government has extended the period for producing a vehicle with a reserved number from 30 days to six months, as per the state government notification. There will be no reservation of VIP numbers for government vehicles, though exemptions from the payment of fees for the registration mark can be granted through special orders, allowing for allotment from any existing series. The fee increase is expected to generate additional revenue for the <keyword id="20030831" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="state-transport-department" source="keywords">state transport department</keyword>, which reported earnings of Rs 139.20 crore from registration number issuances in 1,83,794 cases in the 2017-18 financial year. The 23-year-old Preethi, a farmer's daughter from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh, bagged a bronze in the 200m T35 category with a personal best time of 30.01 seconds. She also won a bronze in the 100m T35 category on Friday. She faced significant physical challenges when she was born as her lower body was plastered for six days after birth. Weak legs and an irregular leg posture made her prone to various diseases. Preethi also became only the second Indian woman to win two medals -- both bronze -- in a single Paralympics after shooter Avani Lekhara who won a gold and a bronze in Tokyo three years ago. T35 classification is meant for athletes who have coordination impairments such as hypertonia, ataxia and athetosis. Later in the day, the 24-year-old Nishad, who hails from Una in Himachal Pradesh, won India's third medal from para-athletics and seventh overall for the country in Paris Paralympics with a season's best effort of 2.04m. He lost his right hand in a grass-cutting machine when he was six-year-old. Nishad, who had also won a silver in Tokyo Paralympics three years ago with a jump of 2.06m, had a tough fight with world record holder and defending champion Townsend Roderick of the USA, who clinched the gold after clearing 2.12m. STRONG SHOW BY <keyword id="20202465" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="shuttlers" source="keywords">SHUTTLERS</keyword> Tokyo Games silver medallist Suhas is set to become the first Indian shuttler to win back-to-back medals at the Paralympics after outplaying compatriot Sukant Kadam in straight games to reach the men's singles SL4 final. The 41-year-old Suhas, a 2007 batch IAS officer, beat Sukant 21-17, 21-12 to make another final at the global showpiece. Later, Nitesh Kumar also guaranteed a medal for himself in SL3 with a 21-16 21-12 victory over Japan's Daisuke Fujihara in the semifinal. The impairment could be on the playing or non-playing hand. However, Mandeep Kaur and Palak Kohli were eliminated in the quarterfinals. NO SUCCESS IN SHOOTING RANGE After the high of four medals in two days, there was disappointment in store for India in the shooting range with Lekhara failing to qualify for the final following a 11th-place finish in the mixed 10m air rifle prone (SH1) qualification in which Sidhartha Babu ended 28th. In the mixed 10m air rifle prone (SH2) qualification, Sriharsha Devaraddi Ramakrishna ended in 26th place with a total of 630.2. In the Paralympics mixed event, both men and women compete on the line against each other. Coming off her historic gold medal in the 10m air rifle standing SH1 event, Lekhara ended the competition with a total of 632.8. Lekhara's sequence of scores read 105.7, 106.0, 104.1, 106.0, 104.8, 106.2, while Sidhartha had scores of 104.6, 103.8, 105.7, 104.9, 103.6, 105.7. In SH1, athletes are able to hold their gun without difficulty and shoot from a standing or sitting position (in a wheelchair or chair). Sidhartha aggregated 628.3 across six series. Athletes classified in SH2 category are unable to hold their rifle independently, so they use a stand, but can aim by themselves and control the weapon when they shoot.
