The decision was taken in a BJP legislature party meeting held here on Thursday. "Coronavirus cases are on the rise and the law and order situation is badly deteriorating. Attempts were made to link those, who were arrested by the SOG (Special Operations Group) over allegations of conspiring to topple the government, with BJP but the government failed in this. We will mention all these issues in the proposal," Kataria said. Rajasthan BJP to move no-confidence motion against Ashok Gehlot led-Congress government

In anticipation of the upcoming elections in Karnataka, both the BJP and Congress have dedicated social media teams working round the clock on outreach and on highlighting the work their respective rivals have not done. Inevitably, social media platforms have turned into becoming battlegrounds where barbs and ad hominem remarks are traded at the drop of a hat . Until very recently, the world faced a legitimate threat of nuclear war as a result of a Twitter spat between the leader of a world superpower and a rogue nation. However, he overstated each price rise by <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/india/rahul-gandhi-goofs-up-basic-math-in-a-tweet-corrects-it-later-2454791.html">100 percentage points</a>. The BJP fired back by referring to him as an<a href="http://www.business-standard.com/article/news-ani/bjp-calls-rahul-immature-shehzada-for-math-blooper-117120700171_1.html"> “immature prince”.</a> Gandhi later deleted the tweet and uploaded a revised table, but not without thanking the BJP for pointing out his mistake. Development, not division As campaigning for the state elections in Karnataka enters its final phases, the barbs and finger-pointing will likely escalate. As is usually the case, development has become the focal issue of each party’s campaign. They also blamed the Centre for obstructing the work of the Delhi government, therefore leading to the recent incident in Rajinder Nagar where three students died after getting trapped in a flooded basement of a coaching centre. Communist Party of India general secretary D Raja also demanded the immediate release of the Delhi chief minister, and expressed concerns about his health. "He was granted bail by trial court and Supreme Court but a conspiracy was hatched to keep him in jail. Why does BJP want to put opposition leaders in jail? The arrest of Kejriwal in an illegal and unconstitutional manner indicate nothing but the bad intentions of the BJP," he alleged. Tiwari said it was "height" of inhumanity to keep Kejriwal in jail despite his medical reports showing dip in his blood sugar to a dangerous level. The Congress and AAP had fought the recent Lok Sabha elections in Delhi in alliance. AAP had fielded candidates on four seats and Congress on three seats. However, the alliance drew a blank. Gogoi warned the BJP and its leaders saying they cannot scare the opposition whether it is AAP, Congress or any other party. "Their illusion lies shattered with this rally. If fair Lok Sabha elections had been held in 2024, the BJP would have been in opposition and we would have been in power. The BJP-led government is not going to complete its five-year term," he stressed. Kejriwal was arrested on March 21 by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case linked to the alleged excise policy scam and has been granted bail by the Supreme Court. However, he is currently lodged in Tihar in a connected CBI case.

NEW DELHI: The results of the first poll on the performance of the <keyword id="6387077" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi-government">Narendra Modi government</keyword> are out. The <keyword id="6360789" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Modi-Government">Modi government</keyword> has met the expectations of half the people surveyed, while 30 per cent think that the performance has been below expectations. 
 The remaining 20 per cent seem to believe that the government has exceeded expectations, keeping the 'slide' in the past 10 years of <keyword id="26374" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="UPA-government">UPA government</keyword>. The poll was conducted among the 1,30,000 members of online community of 'Transform India with Modi' to gauge the public mood after 60 days of Modi government. 
 Thirty thousand members of the citizen-government engagement initiative responded to the poll. Launched by public policy expert Rajendra Pratap Gupta, a <keyword id="14666" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="BJP">BJP</keyword> member, the Local Circles community has members from various backgrounds like industry, employed professionals, investors, farmers, social activists, students, home makers, academicians, bureaucrats and senior citizens. 
 The communication cell of BJP is also associated with the community. Gupta was also incharge of penning down BJP's election manifesto on behalf of the manifesto committee led by <keyword id="58476" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Murli-Manohar-Joshi">Murli Manohar Joshi</keyword>. 
 
"Outstanding is the perfect word to describe the performance of the BJP led NDA government. If the elections are held today for four states (going to polls later this year), BJP on its own will win over 80 per cent of the seats" Gupta told ET. 
 
In a bid to keep the government on its toes, the poll is likely to become a regular feature, borrowing from USA's system of President's approval rating.

Most Feel Satisfied With New Modi Government's Performance: Survey

<ul><li>India’s Ministry of <keyword id="66017" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Statistics">Statistics</keyword>, in conjunction with government think tank, Niti Aayog, released a back-dated series of <keyword id="35050" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="gdp">GDP</keyword> data on 28 November. </li><li>The data showed that growth under the previous <keyword id="1575" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Congress">Congress</keyword> government between 2004-05 and 2013-14 was less than what the current BJP-led administration has achieved over the last four years. </li><li>The government has said the latest data takes into account wider changes in the primary, secondary and tertiary sectors of the <keyword id="34412" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="economy">economy</keyword> as well as different data sources and methods of calculation. </li><li>The timing of the release is significant as India prepares to go to polls next year, and crucial state elections in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh are underway. </li></ul>India’s Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), in conjunction with government think tank Niti Aayog, released a <a href="http://www.mospi.gov.in/sites/default/files/press_release/Press-Note-28Nov2018.pdf">back-dated series of GDP data</a> on 28 November. The report has raised more than a few eyebrows as it showed that growth under the previous Congress government between 2004-05 and 2013-14 was less than what the current BJP-led administration has achieved over the last four years. The average annual growth under the first four years of the Congress government’s first tenure between 2004-05 and 2008-09 was pegged at 6.7%, compared to an original estimate of 8.1%. In addition, growth under the Congress government’s second tenure between 2009-10 and 2013-14 was also downgraded to 6.7%, this time from an original estimate of 7%. Meanwhile, growth under the <keyword id="14666" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="BJP">BJP</keyword> government between 2014-15 and 2017-18 has been estimated at 7.4%. The move comes three years after the government <a href="https://www.thehindu.com/business/Economy/new-gdp-data-with-201112-as-base-year-in-january/article6557219.ece">changed the base year </a>for calculating GDP growth from 2004-05 to 2011-12 in order to “better reflect the economy by adding more sectors”, according to the Pronab Sen, the former chairman of the National Statistical Commission (NSC), which is housed under the MoSPI. The latest report actually contradicts a set of data released <a href="http://pib.nic.in/newsite/PrintRelease.aspx?relid=181956">in August 2018</a> by the Committee on Real Sector Statistics, which was appointed by the NSC. In its report, the committee found that growth under the Congress government’s two tenures, at 8.4% and 7.7%, respectively, was higher than under the BJP-led government in the last four years. As expected, these findings proved to be <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/business/india-business/10-1-gdp-growth-report-moved-out-of-ministrys-main-site/articleshow/65497024.cms">controversial</a>, with the Rajiv Kumar, the vice-chairman of Niti Aayog, reiterating that the data was <a href="https://niti.gov.in/content/gdp-series-revision-clarifications-vice-chairmans-desk">“unofficial”</a>. In response to these numbers, Kumar said that the latest report was more in sync with the international system of economic accounting. What explains the revision of data? Like most things, there a number ways to approach the calculation of statistics and hence, it isn’t a stretch to imagine that methodologies can be tailored to suit certain outcomes. The government has said the latest data takes into account wider changes in the primary, secondary and tertiary sectors of the economy as well as different data sources and methods of calculation. For example, growth estimates in the agriculture and mining industries, which fall under the primary sector, were less than what had originally been calculated. The timing of the release is significant -- India is preparing to go to the polls next year, and crucial state elections in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh are underway. The Shiv Sena an alliance-turned-ally of BJP filed a case against BJP government calling the move of the governor to swear in Devendra Fadnavis as the chief minister in the early hours of November 23 (Saturday)-- as illegal. In a shocking move, Ajit Pawar of NCP decided to support the BJP even as his uncle Sharad Pawar the founder of NCP, sided with Shiv Sena. Maharashtra political twist BJP won 102 seats in the recent assembly elections but need a partner to reach the magic number of 145, to form the government. While Sena had won 56 seats, NCP won 54 seats and Congress won 44 seats. As Sena and BJP disagreed on seat sharing, endless discussions and delays led to a President’s rule in the state. Ajit Pawar had decided not to U-turn yet again as widely expected. Siding with the BJP and Modi, he tweeted on Sunday that the BJP and NCP alliance will stay. This confused the already dazed voters of Maharashtra, who were under the assumption that Pawar had broken away from his mother party, led by his uncle Sharad Pawar. To clear the air, Sharad Pawar tweeted that Ajit Pawar’s message was misleading and that they still with the Sena.  Ajit Pawar decided to step away from his personal residence — where he had a flurry of NCP, BJP and Congress party leaders visit him all day — late in the night. The current chief minister Fadnavis too held a long discussion with deputy CM Ajit Pawar over bringing in the much needed 145 MLAs to form the government. In a dramatic turn of events, Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar were sworn in as chief minister and deputy chief minister respectively by Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari at 8 am on Saturday at a hush-hush ceremony in Raj Bhavan here, leading to the lifting of the President's rule in the state.
