Twenty eight ministers have been sworn in at a ceremony at the Raj Bhavan in Bhopal on Thursday morning. Governor Anandiben Patel administered the oath of office and secrecy to the new ministers. Out of 28 ministers 20 are cabinet and 8 are state ministers. Those who have been sworn in include Gopal Bhargava, Vijay Shah, Jagdish Deora, Bisahu Lal Singh, Yashodhara Raje Scindia, Bhupendra Singh, Edal Singh Kansana, Brijendra Pratap Singh, Vishwas Sarang, Imrati Devi, Prabhuram Chaudhary, Mahendra Singh Sisodia, Pradyuman Singh Tomar, Prem Singh Patel, Om Prakash Saklecha, Usha Thakur, Arvind Bhadoria, Mohan Yadav, Hardeep Singh Dung, Rajyavardhan Singh Dittigaon were sworn in. Those present on the occasion include Chief Minister <keyword id="67701" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Shivraj-Singh-Chauhan">Shivraj Singh Chauhan</keyword>, Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, former Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, BJP State President Vishnu Dutt Sharma among others. Now the total number of ministers has increased to 33 with 28 members taking oath in the state cabinet. The State ministers who were sworn in include Bharat Singh Kushwaha, Inder Singh Parmar, Ramkhilavan Patel, Ram Kishor Kanvera, Brijendra Singh Yadav, Girraj Dandotia, Suresh Dhakad and O.P.S. Bhadoria. Out of the 28 ministers who were sworn in, 11 are Scindia loyalists who joined the BJP along with Jyotiraditya Scindia in March. The cabinet expansion has been pending since March. The Shivraj government has been functioning with only five ministers since mid-April.

All the samples collected from 56 suspected <keyword id="1754604" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="coronavirus">coronavirus</keyword> (COVID-19) cases in Gujarat have tested negative, the government said on Wednesday. After the deadly coronavirus outbreak, more than 2,200 passengers have arrived in Gujarat from abroad till date, but not a single case has been found positive in the state. "In Gujarat, 2,231 passengers have arrived from the COVID-19 affected countries. Out of this, 1,207 passengers have finished their 28 days quarantine period. We have had a total of 56 suspected cases, out of which none has been found positive," Nitin Patel, Deputy Chief Minister and health minister, told the state assembly. The minister gave this information during a discussion on a matter of public urgency initiated by Congress MLA Naushad Solanki and BJP's Dushyant Patel, Pradeepbhai Parmar and Seemaben Mohile on COVID-19. "According to the central government's guidelines, passengers arriving from China, S. Korea, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Italy, Iran, Nepal, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Singapore are screened. Also their self declaration is obtained. These passengers are also followed up by district administration," informed Patel. "For the screening, 8 medical officers with 8 medical teams and 21 paramedical staff are there equipped with thermal scanners, PPE kits, N95 masks and advanced life support ambulance at the Ahmedabad and Surat international airports," added Patel. Besides the airports, all ports are also being closely monitored. Till date 2,366 passengers have been screened from 55 ships according to the state health department.

In the Amaravati Lok Sabha constituency, there are six Vidhan Sabha seats including Badnera, Amravati, Teosa, Daryapur, Melghat, and Achalpur. Four of these seats are general seats. Daryapur is reserved for SC and Melghat is earmarked for ST candidates. BJP is fielding Sunil Deshmukh from the Amravati seat for the upcoming assembly elections 2019. Congress party is fielding Anirudha Subhanrao Deshmukh from the Achalpur seat. BJP’s Ramesh Bundile is fighting from the Daryapur constituency. Yashomati Chandrakant Thakur will be representing the Congress party in the Teosa seat. The state of Maharashtra goes for a single phase polling for the assembly elections this time. the polling will happen for all the constituencies on October 21, 2019 and the votes will be counted on October 24, 2019. In 2019 Parliamentary elections, SHS candidate won from this constituency. Adsul Anandrao Vithoba of the SHS party won from here securing 1,37,932 votes more than the runner up candidate Navneet Ravi Rana who represented the NCP. In the 2014 assembly elections, Badnera was won by Ravi Rana of IND who secured 7419 votes more than the runner up candidate Band Sanjay Raosaheb of SHS. From Amravati seat, BJP’s Dr. Deshmukh Sunil Panjabrao secured 35072 votes more than INC candidate Raosaheb Shekhawat and became the MLA. From the Teosa constituency, the voters elected INC’s Adv. Yashomati Thakur (Sonawane) who had secured 20441 votes more than the BJP candidate Nivedita Dighade Choudhari. The electors of Daryapur (SC) had chosen Ramesh Ganpatrao Bundile of the BJP party who had won with a margin of 19582 votes more than the RPI candidate Balwant Baswant Wankhade. From the Melghat seat, BJP’s Bhilawekar Prabhdas Babulal had become the MLA after defeating Rajkumar Dayaram Patel of NCP with a margin of 1979 votes. The Achalpur seat saw IND’s Bacchu Alias Omprakash Babarao Kadu winning from here who had got 10170 votes more than the next candidate Ashok Shridharpant Bansod from BJP.

New Delhi, Three-fourth of the new Delhi MLAs are millionaires, one-third have not studied beyond senior secondary and more than half have criminal cases against them, according to the Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR). According to ADR, 45 Aam <keyword id="1488996" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Aadmi-Party">Aadmi Party</keyword> (AAP) legislators of the 62, and seven of the eight <keyword id="58687" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bharatiya-Janata-Party">Bharatiya Janata Party</keyword> (BJP) MLAs had declared more than Rs 1 crore assets while filing their nomination papers. There were 44 millionaire MLAs in 2015. The average of assets per MLA in the new Delhi Assembly is Rs 14.29 crore, which is more than double the average of Rs 6.29 crore in 2015. Of the AAP legislators, the average assets per MLA is Rs 14.96 crore and in case of the BJP it's Rs 9.10 crore. The richest AAP legislators as per their election affidavit are Dharampal Lakra (Mundka), followed by Promila Tokas (R.K. Puram) and <keyword id="8770122" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="raaj-kumar-anand">Raaj Kumar Anand</keyword> (Patel Nagar). <keyword id="1955618" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rakhi-Birla">Rakhi Birla</keyword> (Mangolpuri) is the poorest AAP legislator with Rs 76,000 assets, followed by Sanjeev Jha (Burari) at Rs 10 lakh and Som Dutt (Sadar Bazar) at Rs 11 lakh. There has been a sharp jump in the number of MLAs with registered criminal cases. In 2020, 43 MLAs declared criminal cases against them while in 2015, 24 MLAs had criminal cases. The number of MLAs with serious criminal cases, which included rape, attempt to murder and crimes against women, is 37. In terms of education, 23 MLAs are between 8th pass and 12th pass, 42 graduates and above, and five diploma holders. While 39 MLAs are aged between 25 years and 50 years, 31 are in the 51-80 years age group. Of the 70 MLAs, eight are women against six in 2015.
