Design - Feels Premium When I held the Xiaomi Pad 5 for the first time, I was really impressed with the premium feel. A design significantly inspired by Apple’s iPad Air, this latest tablet also sports a sleek frame. The materials used are different though. Xiaomi Pad 5 comes with a metal frame that encompasses a glass front and a plastic back. The tablet feels solid, and the weight distribution is favorable. Other design characteristics include volume rockers which are on the top left if you are holding the tablet in landscape mode and on the right-hand side in portrait mode. Since it has a respectable size just like the iPad. What does that mean for security? I talk about it in the latter half of the article. Another drawback is the lack of IP rating, which is disappointing. A major use case for a tablet is for people who like to travel and water resistance and durability becomes paramount in such use cases. Display Xiaomi Pad 5 features an 11-inch 2.5K Display. It’s an IPS LCD panel with 1600x2560 pixels resolution. Before I get to the display quality, it’s important to highlight the chunky bezels we see around the panel. These bezels are thick and shiny and it might take some time for you to adjust to them. It’s vibrant, well lit, and produces natural colors while retaining details. I do wish that the black levels were a bit better especially around the corners, but this is expected with an LCD. Like most other LCD panels, apps like Youtube let us set up a video to 4K, which is not true. That being said it’s fun to consume content on the Xiaomi Pad 5 with respect to the screen. Dolby Atmos support also adds a zing to watching movies from different OTT apps. I watched Batman V Superman (2016) and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The display also supports a max refresh rate of 120Hz. It is as fluid as one expects it to be, and the screen becomes a breeze to work around with. Xiaomi does not provide an adaptive refresh rate feature on the Xiaomi Pad 5, this to me is a missed opportunity. I might be knit-picking here but I feel it could have worked wonders on a tablet of this capacity. The quad speaker setup might sound hefty on paper but it is a disappointment in day to day usage. The main issue is the level of loudness as the volume gets damped in some situations - like when there’s a full-speed fan running in the same room. When I was watching something by myself I was mostly dependent on my TWS buds, and when it came to watching with others I connected a Bluetooth speaker. Stylus and Keyboard cover It is with the display that we also get introduced to the first accessory, Xiaomi Smart Pen. It’s sleek, and you can maintain a firm grip on it. There are buttons mounted on it, which have dedicated shortcuts on them. But does it do its job well? Yes, it does. As expected it makes your life easier when it comes to interacting with the display. I mostly used it to make notes, change volume levels, and do a bit of photo editing. Graphic intensive tasks usually require long-term interactions with the display, in this case, the pen starts to struggle. Like missing out on long strokes. The battery life of the stylus is favorable and at 100% capacity, it can last upto 3 days. Fortunately, it can be connected magnetically to the pad itself which also charges it. So, chances are most of the time the stylus will be sufficiently charged. Overall, if you chose to go for Pad 5 then, I would suggest spending another ₹4,999 for the stylus as well. Now that the stylus has been covered it's important to talk about the keyboard cover as well. Made of Good quality leather, the case, just like the device, also feels premium. It snaps right up on the Xiaomi Pad 5 and is easy to take off as well. However, I was struggling a bit when connecting the keyboard section. The magnetic strength hinders the smooth transition we get to see on a device like Samsung Galaxy Tab S8. I had to take out the tablet and attach it dedicatedly with precision quite often in order to use it properly. This gets tiring after a while. I hope Xiaomi fixes this design in the next iteration of the case. The real-time experience of using the keyboard is satisfactory. The keys are tactile and it’s fun typing on them. The keyboard despite being small has a respectable travel distance of 1.2mm. For that matter, this review is written on the Xiaomi Pad 5. Yes, you can’t switch between windows and tabs from the keyboard itself, but then Xiaomi isn’t pitching it like one. This is not meant to replace your laptop, instead, it provides you easy access to general online computing. And, it does manage to succeed in this endeavour. In case you want to occasionally use it like a laptop you can connect a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard with it. This is a more affordable alternative for casual users. User Experience Xiaomi Pad 5 runs on Android 11 out of the box and pairs up with the Mi UI 12.5 skin. This particular Xiaomi skin has been updated and customized for tablet orientation. For starters, you won’t find an app drawer by default on the device, instead, the apps remain on the home screen. I could set reminders, and even reply to emails from the home screen itself, this was very handy. Of course, there is a split-screen function on board as well. Xiaomi is usually good at executing this, so no wonder it works smoothly on the Xiaomi Pad 5. You can open up to two windows simultaneously which is what a general user would incline towards. But with ample real estate, I feel one could use 3 apps as well. Maybe Xiaomi should consider it with a future update. Just like the iPad, we get to see an app tray on the bottom of the screen as well, which pops up when we swipe upwards from the bottom half. There were times when I was trying to navigate back to the home screen but instead the app tray would pop out. If you want to solve this issue altogether, turn off gestures and use navigation buttons instead. As mentioned previously in this review, Xiaomi Pad 5 does not come with a fingerprint reader, instead, it has a face unlock. Unlike the more fancy IR blasters that we see on other devices, this one works with the front camera. And as it is with generic face unlocking, the problems are similar here. In low lighting conditions or while wearing a mask, the Xiaomi Pad 5 struggles to unlock. For the most part, I had to punch in my numeric pin to get inside. Xiaomi Pad 5 Performance Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor turns out to be the right chipset for this device. Delivering a fiery performance the SoC works in sync with the OS on board. The Xiaomi Pad 5 boots up without any lag, and you can begin to interact with the device right off the bat. The 6GB RAM onboard is more than sufficient for genric tasks like web browsing or social media. Additionally, it holds up well against heavy tasks too. To test the gaming performance, I played BGMI on the Xiaomi Pad 5 and the performance was satisfactory. There were no frame drops and the game ran smoothly on UHD settings. Yes, the tablet did a bit warm but not unbearably hot. I edited pictures on Adobe Lightroom, and the performance was commendable there as well. The 128GB internal storage variant might be sufficient for most users, however, I would suggest going for the 256GB variant. Since a tablet is used for long and it is your local device for storing media and important documents. In this case, it’s even more important since you do not get a microSD card slot to expand the storage capacity. Something I believe should have been there. But it’s not just the microSD card slot that’s missing. There is also no SIM-card slot on board. It’s a general fact that people don’t make phone calls from their tablets. While it’s true having a SIM card has more than just one application. Primarily a SIM card gives you access to the cellular internet on the go. Xiaomi has managed to clip the wings on the Pad 5 with this move in my opinion. A powerful device of this nature is shackled by the sheer absence of the internet when on the move. I can still connect it with my mobile hotspot or ask for WiFi passwords when I move around. This is a major flaw in my opinion. Xiaomi Pad 5 comes with an 8720 mAh battery. A respectable size for the tablet, it was difficult to kill it. On light days, the Xiaomi Pad 5 would give a mileage of upto 2 days. Of course, the battery dipped to a day if I binge-watched 3 feature films in a single sitting. Do note that the battery performance depends majorly on your usage patterns. Xiaomi Pad 5 supports 22.5W fast charging which takes about 2 hours to charge it completely. Camera Performance The camera on a tablet has 2 important use cases, video calls, and scanning documents. The Xiaomi Pad 5 is an overachiever in these 2 fields. The main camera is a 13MP shooter, which clicks decent images. Xiaomi is well aware of the first use case I mentioned - scanning documents that’s why we also see a document mode in the camera app. A small add-on with a big real-time impact. I did not have to download third-party apps to scan documents on this one since I could do it from the native camera app. Otherwise, the pictures were soft and undersaturated in most cases. <div type="image" title="Pad 5 has a dedicated document mode" msid="91648068" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Pad 5 has a dedicated document mode&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> The main camera can also record 4K videos at 30fps, however, the results are underwhelming, and I doubt users will ever turn to that. The lens module on the back gives an impression that there is a multi-camera set-up, however, the other lens just reads 13MP. That’s a sign of a re-used camera module from some other Xiaomi device. This is a bit miss leading so be careful. The front camera is an 8MP shooter and is good for video calls. Taking selfies for your social media feed should remain your smartphone's job. OnePlus has followed a minimalistic approach to the CE 4 when it comes to design. The smartphone, as mentioned above, sports a glass sandwich design along with flat edges. Even though it carries a massive 5500mAh battery the weight distribution is commendable. It feels light in the hands and the edges make it easier to hold. I used the colour variant Celadon Marble, which appears to be inspired by the Marble Odyssey variant of the OnePlus 11. As one would expect, it is clean and has been executed really well. I am personally not a fan of funky colors but this one grew on me over time. Another feature that I personally like a lot is the IR blaster on the CE 4. Practically making your device a universal remote is very handy and I am glad more brands are bringing it back. It also gives me hope that maybe someday we will see the return of the headphone jack on devices as well. Towards the right edge, we have the volume rockers and the power button which are tactile. At the bottom, we have the Type-C port and the SIM card slot. The smartphone supports 2 nano SIMs or a nano SIM and a memory card up to 1TB. Overall, Nord CE 4 hasn’t taken any risks with its design and follows the classic OnePlus philosophy — minimalism and upgrades in areas that are important. Some people might dub the design boring, however, I believe there is a huge chunk of buyers who still look for a simple-looking device. Moreover, you get a peak brightness of 1100 Nits. I tested the display during a recent weekend outing, where the CE 4 lite served as my primary device. Outdoor visibility was not a concern but the always-on screen's brightness proved inadequate, making it challenging to read text. Once engaged, the device performed admirably. The auto-brightness feature on the CE4 functioned remarkably well, consistently adjusting brightness levels. Viewing content on the 11R is a delightful experience. I indulged in a Netflix session with "X-men 97," and the smartphone's support for HDR10+ was evident in the vibrant colours and top-notch details. Nevertheless, the self-adjusting brightness in HDR content remains a slight annoyance, and I hope this aspect is addressed in future updates for a more consistent performance. The display is complemented by a robust stereo speaker setup, delivering surprisingly loud audio output capable of filling a small room. In terms of responsiveness, the display performs solidly. With a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz and an auto-switch feature between variable refresh rates, the execution, while occasionally choppy when transitioning between a web page and a game, remains overall satisfactory. Opting for the maximum 120Hz refresh rate provides a smooth and visually pleasing experience. The in-display fingerprint sensor on the CE 4 is adequately responsive, albeit not as swift as the side-mounted unit we see on the CE 3 Lite. An alternative quick unlocking method is the face unlock feature, which I have personally set up for added convenience. While the distinction between Oxygen OS and Oppo's Color OS has become less clear, the legacy of the older Oxygen OS remains evident, primarily due to the device's minimal bloatware. As long as this remains the case, the amalgamation doesn't pose a concern for me. The software experience aligns with expectations for a OnePlus device — clean and visually appealing. As always, users have ample customisation options. I recommend an immediate tweak: changing the icon designs to pills instead of squares, providing a less blocky appearance to the display. The return of the shelf on the OnePlus CE4 is a feature I appreciate, having never encountered issues with it. Proper customization, with preferred applications like calendar, Gmail notifications, and Instagram, can enhance productivity. A simple right swipe allows quick access to these applications. The device also incorporates familiar OnePlus features such as Zen mode, which I find beneficial at the gym with a custom profile that silences all notifications except those I choose to keep on. For existing OnePlus users concerned about the OS experience, be assured that familiar elements are still present. However, we do have some additions this year from Oppos Color OS, like pixelation. This feature automatically blurs the display of people in screenshots to protect their identity. Although it may miss some instances when working automatically, you can manually blur objects. The option to do so directly from the screenshot menu is a welcome addition. I hope to see more of such features added to OnePlus devices down the line. One notable commitment from OnePlus is the promise of 2 years of major Android updates and 3 years of security updates for the CE 4. This is underwhelming, to say the least, considering Nothing Phone 2(a) provides 3 years of Android updates and 4 years of security updates. If you plan on being a long-term user of your smartphone, it's advisable to consider this aspect when making a decision. Performance Coming to the section which to me ensures why the Nord CE 4 is a top contender for most people - performance. The Nord CE 4 is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7S Gen 3 5G SoC, a tried and tested chipset. As expected, the smartphone delivers a consistent and reliable performance. This can be attributed to the overall package that OnePlus offers with this device. It comes with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM, which is more than enough for most users. There is also the option to expand the RAM internally by using spare storage, but I haven't found a use case where this would be necessary. Let's talk about performance, especially in power-hungry tasks like gaming. During my testing, I played BGMI on the Nord CE 4 daily for at least 2 hours. I had the settings maxed out with HDR graphics and solid frame rates, and so far, I haven't experienced any glitches or frame drops. The 6.7-inch massive display is excellent for gaming, allowing you to spot and eliminate your targets with ease. The combination of the high refresh rate and powerful SoC provides a smooth and fluid gaming experience. After about 50 minutes of continuous gaming, the phone does heat up, but it becomes noticeably uncomfortable only after the 1-hour mark. However, it cools down quickly, allowing you to get back to your games without much delay. This performance extends to everyday use, and general users will not encounter any issues. The specifications and real-life performance of the CE 4 may be overkill for basic users who don't push the limits or engage in heavy gaming. The device offers 256GB of internal storage, of which the system takes up around 25 GB. The remaining 225GB is more than sufficient for most consumers. I recommend buying the 256GB variant if you are a dynamic user since 128GB will just not be enough. Before concluding this section, it's important to mention the battery performance of the CE 4. It is equipped with a 5500mAh battery that is difficult to drain, especially for light users. The numbers are impressive. With casual to heavy usage, I was averaging around 7 hours of screen time. This includes gaming sessions, video calls, and YouTube consumption. For light users, the battery life extends even further, easily lasting a bit over a workday. The device supports 100W SuperVOOC charging, which works wonders as expected. With the bundled 100W charger, it takes about 30 minutes to charge the device from 0% to 100%, which is remarkably efficient. This is with mobile data turned on, of course. Camera OnePlus Nord CE 4 sports a dual camera set-up which is down from the triple camera set-up we saw on the CE 3. I am not complaining about it particularly because the one sensor that has been let go is the 2MP macro sensor, which I wasn’t a fan of. What we do get this time is an upgraded Sony IMX882 50MP primary sensor with OIS paired with an 8MP ultra-wide sensor. Let's start with the primary camera sensor. OnePlus claims that with the help of a new and improved sensor, the camera output is better on the Nord CE 4 compared to the Nord CE 3. This claim is true, in my opinion. In natural lighting or ample lighting, the image results are surprisingly good. The images are well-detailed, with colours mostly matching the subject in the frame. However, there were times when the phone did falter with reds, especially indoors and in artificial light. However, the smartphone bounces back in portrait photography, since the edge detection is solid here. And you can also play around with the depth effect there. The 8MP ultra-wide angle gives you a 120-degree field of view. So yes, it definitely expands the frame to cover more room. I shoot big cars sometimes with Business Insider India. However, the details might be lost if you shoot something indoors. The video recording experience is similar to Nord 2. The camera can record 4K videos at 30. And the performance is suitable for basic usage. However, it might not be the best option if you want to make content with your device. You get additional features like dual video mode as well, which is helpful if you are a vlogger. The audio recording is satisfactory, and the in-built microphone does cancel out external noise to a large extent. The front camera is a 16 MP shooter that tones down natural colours significantly, delivering under-saturated output. The results do get better with the default AI turned off. Yes, AI is big time here with what I call an AI makeover. You can change your skin tone and even tweak your cheeks. I mentioned it in my previous reviews, I don't particularly appreciate promoting this, but there could be a consumer base that wants this. Verdict OnePlus Nord CE 4 is a textbook smartphone. The device offers a fairly new design, a bright display, an efficient processor and an improved camera. It’s a smartphone for people who don’t want to experiment with their smartphone usage experience. That being said, if you are open to experiments then you can consider Nothing Phone(2A) or Realme 12 Pro as well. Today, OnePlus added another product to its portfolio in the same segment — the Nord 2 CE 5G. As the name suggests it’s the second iteration of the company’s most affordable series under the Nord moniker. It’s not been very long since OnePlus introduced its budget series called Nord, but it’s added new smartphones in quick succession — <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/tech/mobile/news/oneplus-nord-2-mobile-phone-review/articleshow/85040249.cms" data-type="tilCustomLink">Nord 2</a> and <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/tech/mobile/news/oneplus-nord-ce-5g-review/articleshow/83508015.cms" data-type="tilCustomLink">Nord CE.</a> OnePlus started with a strategy of making one smartphone a year and it slowly forayed into multiple phones and even ventured into other categories like TVs, wearables and more. Similar to most OEMs, OnePlus has shifted focus from its flagship killer status to making phones for everyone. The CE 2 5G is aimed towards the new generation of OnePlus users, who don’t want to shell out a hefty sum to experience their product. Essentially, a buyer on a tight budget who wants to get into the OnePlus ecosystem. After using the device for the last couple of days, I’ve made some observations and will be sharing my first impressions in this article. For reference, it is the slimmest smartphone of the brand since the OnePlus 6T. That being said the build quality is definitely impressive and premium and the back is reminiscent of the Nord 2. The phone is a glass sandwich with both front and back protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The colour with me is ‘Bahama Blue’ which definitely looks attractive, but I think personally prefer the Gray Mirror colourway over this one. <div type="image" title="Nord CE 2 side" msid="89645649" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;The Nord CE 2 has the SIM tray and volume buttons on the left side.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> This new Nord is no exception to camera bumps, but at least the one here is subtle. That’s commendable since it houses a triple camera unit, which I will be touching upon in the latter part of this article. A sim card tray is a 3-in-1 unit, which means you can put in two micro SIM cards along with one micro SD card. It supports expandable storage up to 1TB. From the design point of view, you can expect the usual OnePlus standard, except for 2 things — a good and a bad. The bad news is that it doesn’t come with an alert slider. As they say, you miss the most basic of things when they are not there, and I have been feeling that ever since I have gotten hold of this device. The ease of use and convenience of switching between profiles with a slider is unbeaten, it saves just a few seconds and may not be a deal-breaker for many but it's undeniably convenient. You can take it as a trade deal, and maybe that will make you feel better. For me? I would prefer to have the alert slider over a headphone jack since I’ve already invested in a good pair of truly wireless headphones. The latest Nord runs on Android 11 but it will be receiving the Android 12 update soon, as per the company. The Android OS is combined with OxygenOS 11 on top. Yes, I did have some preconceived ideas about how the device will feel since the Color OS and Oxygen OS merged lately, but I was pleasantly surprised. The software remains to feel smooth and responsive during my initial experience with the device. With minimal bloatware and smooth functionality out of the box, it would be unfair to say it’s lost the OnePlus flavour. I just hope the company has worked on the bugs seen with third-party apps like Instagram and Facebook on some of its previous phones. OnePlus Nord CE 2: Display We can’t deny that no clean OS is attractive if it’s not being used on a good display, fortunately OnePlus has scored there. The 6.43-inch fluid AMOLED punch-hole display is gorgeous. It’s bright and the pictures look vibrant and well saturated. It is also HDR10+ certified which makes its presence felt when you watch content on third-party apps like Netflix or Amazon Prime. (I watched an episode of The Office on it, and yes, it was clear - RYAN STARTED THE FIRE). <div type="image" title="Nord CE 2 display" msid="89645711" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;The Nord CE 2 has an impressive display for its price.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> The CE2 comes with 90Hz as a default refresh rate that’s become a standard on phones of this range, and it improves scrolling or playing games. The linear speaker set-up on the smartphone is loud but it's not as good as seen on more expensive flagships from the company. OnePlus Nord CE 2: Performance, battery and camera This young OnePlus runs on MediaTek Dimensity 900 5G chipset, which so far has been holding up pretty well. The device boots up quickly, handles games like BGMI smoothly, if played on HD settings. There was hardly any lag, and I am satisfied as of writing my first impressions. So far, I am also happy with the RAM management. With 8GB of memory, applications stay intact around the day and open up exactly where I left them. The in-built storage is 128GB which is ample for a regular user, but if you are someone hardcore then you can always expand it with a micro SD card. Another area where the processor makes its presence felt is battery life. Nord CE 2 5G runs feature a 4500 mAh dual-cell battery set-up (2 x 2250 mAh cells). In the last 2 days, I had to plug in the device once when the battery went all the way down to 0%. So that’s impressive. What surprised me more was the charging time. With 65W charging, the device went to 80% in just about 20 minutes, and in about 30 minutes it was a complete 100%. These are great numbers considering it is so far running for an entire day. I will have more to write about it when I test it thoroughly. Before closing this piece let’s talk about the camera. But first, the camera app, which is a mix of what we see on Oppo and what we used to see on the older version on OxygenOS. The primary sensor is a 64MP shooter, with electronic image stabilization and produces decent images. It retains skin tones and doesn't put a beauty filter to spoil a frame. Portrait mode works well and the amount of bokeh can also be adjusted as per your taste. Low light performance is just aren’t as impressive as daylight so far. The 2MP macro sensor is impressive and retains a great amount of detail. Yet, there is a problem with colours here as well. You can check out the camera samples in the video above. The third camera fortunately is a useful one, it's an 8MP ultra-wide sensor. Creating a giant canvas for your frames, allows you to click decent images and does retain great details. The selfie camera is a 16 MP shooter and so far the results have been pretty satisfying. Skin tones stay intact and colours are not overly bright or vibrant. Portrait selfies also look impressive in daylight. The video mode has surprised me more than anything else, even with just EIS, the output looks great, with the audio complementing the video really well. There are some bonus features like the dual-video mode, which is implemented perfectly on the device. Early verdict So what are my parting thoughts? OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G, has some serious potential to go head to head against, its competitors like the Xiaomi 11i, or Samsung M and A series smartphones. It looks good, works well, and doesn't compromise a lot when it comes to actual usage. So my initial thoughts can confirm that it’s a promising product that can only be dwarfed if the competition is tough, which will be the real test for the Nord CE 2 in this segment. Redmi K50i review: A solid performer but lacks the charm of its predecessor

Packing every possible feature that a high-end smartphone is expected to have in 2022. With the brand covering solid ground in the mid-range category, GT2 Pro shows Realme’s ambition to get aggressive in the premium segment as well. Is the Realme GT2 Pro the right candidate for both the brand and the consumer to enter the flagship segment? I have spent 5 days with it, and here’s what I think about Realme’s budget flagship. Price &amp; Availability The Realme GT 2 Pro starts at a price of ₹49,999 for the 8GB RAM variant that packs in 128GB of storage. There is another variant offered at a price of ₹57,999 that packs in 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The phone is available on Flipkart and Realme India’s own official website. Realme GT 2 Pro Design: All elite <div type="image" title="Realme GT2 Pro features a polymer back" msid="90705838" hostid="261"></div> Realme has done a commendable job with the GT 2 Pro when it comes to the design. The phone feels premium from the moment you unbox it. It’s lightweight and ergonomically built which makes it a treat to hold and use. Unlike the industry trend of making a glass sandwich design, Realme GT 2 Pro combines a polymer back with a solid glass front put together in a stainless steel frame. The variant with me is in the paperwhite color with a textured back allowing a better grip on the phone. That being said, if your palms are dirty or sweaty they leave a smudge mark that can be cleaned only with a wet cloth, otherwise, the phone looks dirty. There is a major branding on the top right of the back which reads “Realme and designed by Naoto Fukasava’’, was it necessary to put such a bold branding there? No. I realized Realme is proud of this collaboration when I saw that even the bundled case reads the same branding. This to me was a bit much. There is also a fairly large triple camera set-up with an easily noticeable bump around it. <div type="image" title="Realme GT2 Pro features a big branding" msid="90705064" hostid="261"></div> On the right side, you will find the power lock and unlock button, volume rockers are on the left. All of these physical buttons are of good quality and give a tactile feel. On the bottom, you will find a USB Type-C port alongside a speaker grille and microphone. <div type="image" title="Realme GT2 Pro features a USB Type-C charging port" msid="90705187" hostid="261"></div> Surprisingly there is no official water resistance rating claimed by the company. However, after enquiring with the Realme team, I was told that the device is cascaded internally. Simply put it's well protected around the charging port, but it’s not completely water-resistant. Realme is proudly promoting this device as the world’s first bio-based smartphone design. What does that mean? Basically, the phone shell is made up of a bio-based polymer, which is said to reduce carbon emissions. Now, the irony is that the box comes in plastic wrapping, and so does the phone inside and its charger. These contradictions made me feel, that the above claims are more suited for a marketing pitch while there’s no way to quantify the impact. Realme has gone heavy with the branding, once again, and it spoils the perfectly good design for me. Some of you may not mind it, but I’m not a fan of this particular element. Realme GT 2 Pro Display: Best on any Realme smartphone The GT 2 Pro comes with a 6.7-inch 2K WQHD+ display, yes that’s a mouthful, but it does its job really well. One of the best display’s I have seen on a Realme device. It makes everything on the screen a visual treat, be it playing games or watching movies. <div type="image" title="GT2 Pro comes with a 6.7-inch 2K LTPO WQHD+ display" msid="90705229" hostid="261"></div> It also gets some presets like an image sharpener, video color enhancer, and video motion enhancement in case you want to tweak the display settings. All of these functions improve upon an individual characteristic of your content, but they also consume more battery. <div type="image" title="GT2 Pro has a punch-hole display" msid="90705305" hostid="261"></div> The phone also lets you choose the default screen resolution between FHD+ (2412 x 1080) or QHD+ (3216 X 1440) or Autoselect. During my testing, I kept the phone on the QHD+ setting for the maxed-out performance and I wasn’t disappointed. With accurate color reproduction and surreal detail retention, I thoroughly enjoyed watching my content. But it’s not limited just to watching movies, with an adaptive screen refresh rate the phone smoothly switches between 1Hz to 120Hz. So, casual reading on the internet, scrolling on social media, and of course, high-intensity gaming all are taken care of respectably. Realme GT 2 Pro comes with 1000Hz touch sampling which translates into visibly faster response time. The phone so far has not missed out on a tap, touch, or swipe. <div type="image" title="GT2 Pro features an always-on display" msid="90705315" hostid="261"></div> There is a Nature Tone display option on the phone that adjusts the color temperature as per the ambiance, however, I won’t suggest you keep it on since it spoils the experience. The company claims 1400 nits of max brightness on this one, while I didn’t test it with a luminance meter, I didn’t face any issues using it under direct sunlight generally. The always-on display option is also available that comes in handy. The screen also incorporates an in-display fingerprint sensor, which is snappy. Protected with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, you don’t have to worry about the display getting scratched easily. Complimenting the display is a stereo speaker set-up which is fairly loud and goes well with the caliber of the screen. Realme GT 2 Pro UI experience Up until now, I was convinced Realme has done it, they have outperformed themselves and have made an outright flagship. Until I realized the software woes. Mixed between an almost perfect amalgamation of Realme UI 3.0 and Android 12 was a package of applications. The usual suspects are all here - Josh, Moj, Mx Takatak, PhonePe, Sloop cut, and Bookings.com. Yes, all these can be uninstalled if you wish to, but I wished they were not there in the first place. <div type="image" title="GT2 Pro runs on Realme UI 3.0" msid="90705343" hostid="261"></div> Ignoring them, Realme UI works smoothly on the GT 2 Pro. With the fresh animation style for actions like uninstallation, or switching between tabs you enjoy using the smartphone. We do have to note here that this is a brand new unit, and the performance tends to go down with time. Before switching to the GT2 Pro, I was using the Realme 9 5G Speed Edition and even though the UI is similar on both devices, I found the execution on GT2 Pro leaps ahead. Realme also offers a ton of customization options utilizing the potential of Android 12 features and the brand's own custom skin. From generic options like selecting Dark mode, you can also go full custom. Choose a design of your liking and play around with the theme colors as you please. Realme GT 2 Pro Performance - Master of all The GT2 Pro is a device that not only looks solid on paper but also translates into real-life performance. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Processor which is top of the line and works in sync with the UI on board. The smartphone is blazing fast with non-existent boot-up times and a performance that does not lag behind in any sense. <div type="image" title="GT2 Pro is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Processor" msid="90705965" hostid="261"></div> The variant with me packs in 12GB of RAM which is more than capable of handling heavy tasks and retaining applications for upto 2 days. Yes, there have been instances where I didn’t close an app, opened it 2 days later and the phone took me to the exact same page where I had left it. This performance also shows up when you are gaming, after 2 hour long intense sessions of Genshin Impact and BGMI, I can say this is also a gaming device. With no lags or ugly frame drops the Realme GT 2 pro makes you enjoy your games. I played both the games on maxed-out settings, and I have no complaints so far. The phone did heat up, but not to the point where I couldn’t hold it. Realme’s stainless steel vapour cooling max system does work like advertised, so far. You can take the performance a notch higher with a dedicated GT Mode, which maxes out phone settings, I did my test with it turned on. The variant with me packs in 256GB of internal storage which is sufficient for high-performance users. The streak continues in battery performance as well, with the GT 2 Pro giving me a screen-on time of upto 5 hours. This includes watching content playing games and some social media scrolling. Do note, that the battery life also depends on your usage pattern. The Qualcomm chipset is working in sync with the battery and it's good news. However, I do wish that the charging speed was better. The 65W SuperDart charger takes about 1 hour to charge the 5000 mAh cell from 0 to 100%. Realme GT2 Pro Camera - There’s potential Realme GT2 Pro comes with a 50MP primary sensor which is a Sony IMX766 unit. This sensor is seen on high-end devices and performs really well in natural lighting conditions to deliver images that retain great details. The frames look beautiful and it manages to capture natural colors as well. <div type="image" title="Realme GT2 Pro 20X Zoom shot" msid="90705394" hostid="261"></div> With Optical image stabilization, the video performance is also satisfying and the outcome is generally favorable. You can also shoot 8K videos with a 60 fps setting with the GT 2 Pro, do you need this much firepower? Not really. But in case you ever want to use it, make sure the lighting conditions are favorable. <div type="image" title="GT2 Pro&amp;#39;s wide-angle shot" msid="90705553" hostid="261"></div> Then there is a 50MP ultra-wide lens which is as per Realme is the world’s first 150 Degree ultra-wide sensor. This also enables a fish-eye mode. Keeping that promotional lingo aside, it works really well and creates bigger frames. No. But does it work? Somewhat. Essentially a macro lens, it works wonders in certain situations mostly outdoor subjects.
