Mithali Raj will be the captain followed by Harmanpreet Kaur as the vice-captain of the Indian squad. Team India will play their first World Cup fixture against Pakistan on 6 March, 2022 at the Bay Oval, Tauranga. The Indian team will play 7 matches in the round-robin format before the knockout stages of the tournament. The squad will also feature in the 5-match ODI series against New Zealand starting from 11th February, 2022. Fast bowler Shikha Pandey and in-form batter Jemimah Rodrigues will remain absent from the squad. These are players who will be be representing India in the Women’s World Cup 2022 — 1. She has a record of 2,377 runs in 62 World ODI matches with an average of 41.70. 4.Shafali Verma Opening right-handed batter, who made her ODI debut in 2021, has so far only played 6 ODI matches and scored 164 runs with a strike rate of 73.87. 5. Yastika Bhatia Left-handed middle order batter from Gujarat, who also made her ODI debut in 2021, has a career tally of 102 runs in 3 matches with an average of 34. 6.Deepti Sharma The 24-year-old all rounder, who hails from Agra, Uttar Pradesh, had whipped 1,604 runs in 64 ODI matches with a strike rate of 64.08. 7. Richa Ghosh 18-year-old wicketkeeper of India, who made her ODI debut in 2020, has scored 76 runs in 3 matches with an average of 38. 8. PR Professionals advise their Chinese clients to maintain a low profile to cushion the blow

By Kushan SarkarNew Delhi/Meerut, Apr 22 () Controversial Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) general secretary Vinod Tihara is currently in jail for allegedly failing to "comply with GST norms" after going "incommunicado" amid speculation that he was self-isolating with symptoms of COVID-19. "A Delhi resident named Vinod Tihara was arrested by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) wing of Noida on March 17 on allegations of violations of GST norms and is currently in Meerut jail," SSP Meerut, Ajay Sahni, told . There was no immediate clarity on the exact nature of the violation he has been accused of committing. Tihara is Delhi cricket's representative at the BCCI and an influential figure in state's cricket body. Tihara had been "unreachable" since mid-March leaving DDCA officials, including members of his faction, flummoxed. "For the longest time, we were under the impression that Vinod ji has tested positive for COVID-19. One or two people who contacted his family members were told that he is under isolation. His phone is switched off for the past one month," a senior DDCA office-bearer told . During a recent online hearing in a matter of financial misappropriation of funds, organised by DDCA ombudsman Justice (Retd) Deepak Verma via Skype, one of the body's lawyers, known for his proximity to Tihara, told the apex council members that he had tested positive for novel coronavirus. "We all freaked out as we had met Tihara till March 15 at various places. We told him that why weren't we informed as we all needed to quarantine ourselves. "He then changed track and said that if you people would have been COVID-19 positive, then you would have known by now. It was very suspicious," the Apex Council member who was suspended that day, said. In fact, some of the members are now wondering how did a letter signed by Tihara in support of one of the lawyers, whose service was being terminated, was submitted to Ombudsman, when all this while he had been in jail. <ul><li>With the West Bengal assembly elections all set to begin on March 27, we take a look at all the TMC legislators who left the party to join the BJP.</li><li>Surprisingly, out of the 34 legislators who joined its ranks after leaving the TMC, BJP has given tickets to only 13 of them.</li><li>This includes heavyweights like Suvendu Adhikari, who was a close aide of chief minister Mamata Banerjee.</li><li>Some of these nominations have also caused anger in the BJP cadre.</li></ul>As the race to the West Bengal elections heats up, there has been a flurry of leaders from the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) joining the ranks of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The list of leaders leaving TMC for the BJP includes some prominent names like Suvendu Adhikari, Mukul Roy and celebrity-turned-politician Mithun Chakraborty. The West Bengal assembly elections are scheduled to be held in eight phases between March 27 to April 29. In total, 34 TMC legislators have left the party to join the BJP – either due to differences with the party, being denied a ticket this time or due to the belief that their future lies with the BJP, not TMC. Surprisingly, out of the 34 legislators who joined its cadre, the saffron party has given tickets to only 13 of them. This is the constituency where the current chief minister Mamata Banerjee will have a face-off with Suvendu Adhikari, her former trusted aide and one of the main faces of the Nandigram movement. It was the Nandigram movement -- protests against the then government’s land acquisition efforts for a special economic zone (SEZ) -- that helped the TMC and Mamata Banerjee end the 34-year rule of the Left Front. Will this assembly election once again prove to be the end of another rule – this time, TMC’s? Time will tell, but it shows the importance of this assembly seat for both the parties. Krishnanagar North – Mukul Roy vs Koushani Mukherjee Mukul Roy, the former right-hand man of Mamata Banerjee, will be contesting from the Krishnanagar North seat. This will be Roy’s first election in 20 years – his last was in 2001 from the Jagatdal assembly constituency where he lost to Haripada Biswas. Roy will be contesting against Koushani Mukherjee, actor-turned-politician who joined the TMC in January, this year. Domjur – Rajib Banerjee vs Kalyanendu Ghosh Rajib Banerjee, former minister in Mamata Banerjee’s cabinet joined the BJP in January this year. He was elected twice from the Domjur constituency – in 2011 and again in 2016. He will be facing off against TMC’s Kalyanendu Ghosh. Bally – Baishali Dalmiya vs Dr. Rana Chatterjee Baishali Dalmiya was expelled from the TMC for speaking out against the party. She is the daughter of late Jagmohan Dalmiya, former cricket administrator and BCCI president. She will be taking on Dr. Rana Chatterjee from TMC. Diamond Harbour – Dipak Halder vs Pannalal Halder Dipak Halder, a two-time TMC legislator quit the party after speaking out for months against it. He said he was “not being allowed to work for the masses” since 2017. He joined BJP in February, this year. Dipak Halder and Pannalal Halder are not related to each other. Singur – Rabindranath Bhattacharya vs Becharam Manna Rabindranath Bhattacharya quit TMC earlier this month and is being fielded by the BJP from the Singur constituency, despite strong opposition by the party’s cadre who have accused him of getting them arrested when he was the TMC legislator. Ranaghat Uttar Paschim – Partha Sarathi Chatterjee vs Sankar Singha The 62-year-old Partha Sarathi Chatterjee was a former TMC legislator from Ranaghat in 2011. He lost the seat in 2016 to Sankar Singha, who fought on a Congress ticket. Interestingly, Singha has joined TMC and will be defending his seat this year. Jagatdal – Arindam Bhattacharya vs Somnath Shyam Arindam Bhattacharya, a lawyer by profession, will be fighting for the Jagatdal seat on a BJP ticket. He currently represents the Santipur constituency, but this year will see him switch to Jagatdal. Natabari – Mihir Goswami vs Rabindra Nath Ghosh Mihir Goswami, who currently represents the Cooch Behar Dakshin constituency, will switch to Natabari and fight on a BJP ticket. He will take on TMC’s Rabindra Nath Ghosh, who is the incumbent Natabari legislator. Monteswar – Saikat Panja vs Siddiqullah Chowdhury Saikat Panja is the incumbent legislator from the Monteswar constituency, which he won with an overwhelming majority in the 2016 by-election. He will be facing off TMC’s Siddiqullah Chowdhury, who is also the West Bengal president of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind. Kalna – Biswajit Kundu vs Deboprasad Bag The saffron party is fielding Biswajit Kundu, who joined BJP earlier this year. Ironically, Kundu’s nomination triggered a mass switch of 70 party workers to the TMC, who protested against Kundu’s corruption. Pandabeswar – Jitendra Tiwari vs Narendranath Chakraborty Jitendra Tiwari, a TMC heavyweight, joined the BJP after rebelling against the TMC leadership. His entry was initially opposed by BJP minister and popular singer Babul Supriyo, given that both the politicians had faced off in the Asansol constituency earlier. Durgapur Purba – Diptangshu Chowdhury vs Pradip Mazumdar Diptangshu Chowdhury, another senior TMC leader and former advisor to the chief minister, left TMC to fight on a BJP ticket from the Durgapur Purba constituency. Interestingly, Chowdhury was earlier with the BJP before switching to the TMC in 2017. 34 West Bengal legislators went from TMC to BJP – only 13 of them got tickets to contest the election for the saffron party

<img class="gwt-Image" src="/photo/47513960.cms" />Till the BCCI finds a permanent coach, former captain <keyword id="19692" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Ravi-Shastri">Ravi Shastri</keyword> has been retained as Director of the Indian cricket team for Bangladesh tour starting June 10. 
 
He is a stop-gap arrangement for the tour till BCCI finds a successor to Duncan Fletcher, whose tenure ended earlier this year after the World Cup. 
 
Earlier this year, Shastri served as Team Director during the tour of Australia and the subsequent World Cup. 
 
"The BCCI wishes to inform that Mr. Ravi Shastri, former India Captain, has been appointed as Director of the Indian cricket team for the tour of Bangladesh, starting on 10 June 2015," BCCI Secretary Anurag Thakur said in a statement. 
 
The BCCI will appoint a new coach only after consulting the newly-formed advisory committee of the body, which comprises cricketing greats Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman. 
 
India will play one Test and three One-Day Internationals in Bangladesh from June 10. 
 
Meanwhile, Shastri has represented India in 80 Tests and 150 ODIs for India and was part of the side, which lifted the 1983 World Cup. 
 
He had travelled with the Indian team to Bangladesh in 2007 also as cricket manager after Greg Chappell resigned from the coach's post following the World Cup debacle that year. 
 
Tendulkar, Ganguly and Laxman were inducted into the BCCI to guide the Board.

Ravi Shastri to remain Indian

<keyword id="6354968" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="London">London</keyword>: The <keyword id="46227" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="International-cricket-council">International Cricket Council</keyword> (ICC) on Tuesday said that it will hold the hearing of England fast bowler <a href="http://www.gocricket.com/player/james-anderson/3001/3040">James Anderson </a>via videoconference on August 1 following the conclusion of the third Test against India. Anderson and India allrounder <a href="http://www.gocricket.com/player/ravindra-jadeja/4001/32004">Ravindra Jadeja</a> were involved in a heated confrontation during the Trent Bridge Test following which they were charged by the ICC under different levels for breaching its Code of Conduct for Players. 
 
Judicial Commissioner Gordon Lewis, who presided over the preliminary hearing, announced his decision on Tuesday morning that was attended by representatives of Anderson and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) with their legal counsel, along with representatives of the BCCI and their legal counsel and the ICC's Ethics &amp; Regulatory Lawyer. The decision will be announced after 48 hours of the hearing. 
 
"At the end of the hearing on 1 August, the Judicial Commissioner, as per article 5.2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, will have 48 hours to announce his decision in writing with reasons," the ICC said in a statement after a preliminary hearing today," ICC said in a media release on Tuesday. 
 
The ICC said that if the charges against Anderson aren't proven, "then it remains open to him, at his discretion, to find the Player or Player Support Personnel guilty of an offence of a lower level than that with which he has been charged." 
 
Meanwhile, David Boon will hold the hearing of Jadeja and the details of which will be announced by the governing body soon. 
 
The heated confrontation during the lunch interval of the second day's play at Trent Bridge on July 10 led to accusations that Anderson physically and verbally assaulted Jadeja. The England bowler exchanged words with both Jadeja and India captain MS Dhoni as they left the field and then the row escalated in the pavilion corridor. 
 
The touring Indian team has alleged that Anderson pushed and abused Jadeja, while England have also counter-charged the latter. India are adamant that Anderson instigated the physical clash but the home team counters that Jadeja was just as aggressive and had to be pulled away by his captain. 
 
Although there was no official confirmation from the ECB, the Indian team management is unhappy with unconfirmed reports that there is no video evidence available of the alleged altercation between Anderson and Jadeja despite the fact that a camera had been installed outside the dressing rooms at Trent Bridge. 
 
Anderson and Jadeja were charged under Level 3 and 2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel by India team manager Sunil Dev and England team manager Phil Neale respectively. 
 Level 3 breaches carry a penalty of between four and eight Suspension Points while Level 2 offences carry a fine of between 50-100 per cent of applicable Match Fee and/or up to two Suspension Points. Two suspension points equates to a ban of one Test, or two ODIs, depending on which type of match is scheduled next for the <keyword id="2438245" type="POSITION" weightage="40" keywordseo="suspended-player">suspended player</keyword>.
