Electric mobility startup Yulu raises $82 million in Series B funding

Bengaluru, Jun 20 () The Karnataka government on Saturday issued an order notifying private empaneled hospitals to treat COVID-19 patients. "The Department of Health and Family Welfare has ordered that private hospitals empaneled with Suvarna Arogya Suraksha Trust (SAST) under Ayushman Bharat Arogya Karnataka scheme (ABArK) are notified for treatment of COVID-19 patients, referred by the Government Health Authorities," the department in a note citing the order said. It said, referral authorities include Commissioner BBMP (Bengaluru civic body), Director-Department of Health &amp; Family Welfare, District Health Officers, District Leprosy Officers, etc. Pointing out that a total of 518 private medical colleges or hospitals throughout the state are empaneled under ABArK, the note said they are permitted to admit and treat COVID-19 patients as per the government protocol and criteria. Bengaluru has 44 such medical colleges or hospitals. All treatment protocols as laid down by the government from time to time will be followed by the private hospitals, it further said, adding that the hospitals will be paid the appropriate package rate for COVID 19 management. At present most of the patients suffering from coronavirus are under treatment in these government facilities. Due to an increasing number of cases being reported in the state, the government has decided to involve private hospitals in the treatment of COVID-19 patients. Meanwhile, in a separate notification, the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare Services has designated three facilities in and around Bengaluru city to function as COVID Care Centres (CCC) to manage and treat asymptomatic persons, who constitute the major share among the patients. The facilities are- Sri Sri Sri Ravishankar Ashram on Kanakapura Road, Kanteerava Indoor Stadium and Koramangala Indoor Stadium. The Administrative Head of all these facilities are instructed to get in touch with the Commissioner, BBMP immediately for making necessary arrangements for receiving and managing patients, the notification said they shall provide their infrastructure, staff, resources etc for appropriate management of COVID patients. Karnataka govt issues order notifying private empaneled hospitals to treat COVID patients

Bengaluru, Jan 1 (IANS) Karnataka braces for Covid vaccine dry run in five districts, including Bengaluru across the state on Saturday, an official said on Friday. "A dry run for Covid vaccination will be conducted in five districts - Belagavi, Bengaluru, Kalaburagi, Mysuru and Shivamogga across the state, as directed by the Union Health Ministry to streamline logistics for supplying the medicine when rolled out commercially soon," a state health official told IANS here. In this tech hub, the city's civic corporation has identified three primary health centres (PHCs) for the mock exercise of the mega immunization programme. "Arrangements have been made to conduct the vaccine dry run in three PHCs across the city, with training to 25 health workers in each centre for the programme," said Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) administrator Gaurva Gupta. The dry run will be held at Kamashipalya centre in the city's west zone, Vidyapeetha centre in south zone and Hargade centre at Anekal in the urban district's southern region. "We have lined up 1,517 PHCs across the city for the actual vaccine inoculation from January-end or early February," said Gupta in a statement here. The civic body will submit a report on the dry run to the state and central governments as directed by the health ministry. The data will also be uploaded on the Co-Win application platform, which will be the digital for the nationwide campaign. "The dry run will prepare the state to manage Covid vaccine supply, storage and logistics, including cold chain management. In Belagavi district in the state's northwest region, the dry run will be held at Vantamuri urban PHC, Kittur community health centre and the state-run general hospital at Hukkeri. In Kalaburagi district in the state's northern region, the mock exercise will be held at the Ashok Nagar PHC in the city, Jewargi taluk hospital and Aurad rural centre. In Mysuru district in the state's southern region, the dry run will be conducted at Jayanagar community health center in the city's Jayanagar suburb, Bilikere PHC and K.R. Nagar taluk hospital. In Shivamogga district in the state's Malnad region, the exercise will be held at McGann hospital in the city, Shikaripura taluk hospital and at Antharagange PHC at Bhadravati taluk. Shikariupra is the hometown of the state's Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa. "At each centre, a medical officer (doctor), two vaccinating officers (male and female) a data entry operator to verify documents and upload the data on the Co-Win vaccine network portal and a security officer were trained on Friday," the official said. The exercise will be held as per the Covid vaccination operational guidelines, which include bio-medical waste management and adverse reaction following the immunisation (AEFI) tagging. "At each centre, five vaccine beneficiaries will be observed for about 30 minutes in the AEFI room during the dry run. There are 71 labs in the state, of which 41 are government and 30 are private. The Minister said COVID Care Centres will be established in order to facilitate monitoring of asymptomatic cases. "An expert committee has been formed to give advise on the type of treatment and care required for cases in different stages. The BBMP (city civic body) Commissioner has been directed to ensure that 20,000 beds are available in Covid Care Centres in Bengaluru city," he said, adding that this would reduce the burden on hospitals and ensure that beds are available for those who need it. With increasing cases, Sudhakar today held detailed deliberations with senior officials and experts on best practices and effective steps being taken by other states. Stating that private hospitals should act with utmost responsibility and proactively participate in the fight against COVID-19, he said strict action will be taken against hospitals which refuse to treat Covid patients despite having capacity. Bengaluru, Apr 28 () The number of COVID-19 patientsdischarged in Karnataka so far has crossed the 200 mark, while11 new cases have been confirmed in the state, taking thetotal number of infections to 523.Meanwhile, in further relaxation of COVID-19 lockdownnorms, the government decided to conditionally allow economicactivities to restart in green zones by opening shops andindustries.Cumulatively 523 COVID-19 positive cases have beenconfirmed in the state, including 20 deaths and 207discharges, the health department said in its bulletin.Out of 295 active cases, 288 patients are in isolation atdesignated hospitals and are stable, while seven are inIntensive Care Units.Fourteen patients who recovered were discharged onTuesday. Seven of them are from Mysuru, five from Bengaluruurban and one each from Bengaluru rural and other state."The number of discharges are more today.Total dischargeshave also reached 207. COVID-19: Over 200 discharged in K'taka so far, 11 cases confirmed

(Eds: Recasts intro, updates with report of two deaths) Bengaluru, Apr 13 () Karnataka reported two fresh COVID-19 deaths and 15 positive cases on Monday, taking the toll to eight and the total number of infected to 247, but the government ruled out community transmission in the state. The government also said there was an increase in the number of people recovering from the coronavirus infection in recent days and the number has now reached 60. Voicing concern over the COVID-19 situation leading to a deep financial trouble in the state, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa said there was a need to find ways to overcome the crisis. He announced certain measures aimed at resource mobilisation. The deceased include a 55-year-old man, who died in Kalaburagi district, while a 65-year old man succumbed at a hospital in Bengaluru, official sources said, adding with the fresh casualties the death toll in the state reached eight. One of the deceased had tested positive for COVID-19 on April 10, and officials have said he also had a history of Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI). The Kalaburagi man was the district's third COVID-19 casualty. The district had also reported the country's first COVID-19 fatality. The Bengaluru man was admitted to the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases on Sunday and died on Monday. He had tested positive for COVID-19. With Monday's figures, cumulatively 247 COVID-19 positive cases had been confirmed in the state: including eight deaths and 60 discharges. The active COVID-19 cases stood at 181 with 177 patients, including one pregnant woman, in isolation wards at designated hospitals and stable while four others in the intensive care units, a health department bulletin said. "In the last five days, our growth rate of cases is 6.42 per cent, we stand at 11th place (in the country in terms of the number of cases)," Primary and Secondary Education Minister Suresh Kumar told a media briefing.
