UBS Group AG, part of <keyword id="349466" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="UBS-Asset-Management">UBS Asset Management</keyword>, will invest a total of around $300 million in Byju's, people familiar with the deal told IANS. The leading ed-tech company recently raised nearly $1 billion as part of its 'Series F' funding that included Baron Funds and Facebook cofounder Eduardo Saverin's <keyword id="3472137" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="B-Capital-Group">B Capital Group</keyword>. The latest fund-raising came after Byju's announced to acquire Aakash Educational <keyword id="266374" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Services-Ltd">Services Ltd</keyword> (AESL) through a strategic merger. The deal size is also pegged at close to $1 billion. In September last year, Byju's raised $500 million (approximately ₹3,689 crore) in a funding round led by global technology investment firm Silver Lake. Aditya Birla group to spend ₹2,000 crore on an MSME e-commerce venture

New Delhi, May 20 () Khatabook, which provides solutions to help micro, small and medium-sized businesses track business transactions, on Wednesday said it has raised USD 60 million (over 454 crore) in funding led by B Capital Group. The series-B round also saw participation from new and existing investors, including Sequoia India, Partners of DST Global, Tencent, GGV, RTP Global, Hummingbird Ventures, Falcon Edge Capital, Rocketship.vc and Unilever Ventures, a statement said. Angel investors Kevin Weil, Alexander Will, Kunal Shah, Kunal Bahl and Rohit Bansal (Snapdeal founders) also participated, it added. The latest funding will allow Khatabook to ramp up their products and services offerings for India's merchants, as the company builds technology solutions around financial services and a large merchant-focused distribution platform, the statement said. Traditionally, Indian MSMEs keep track of credit flow with their consumers and suppliers offline, maintaining handwritten accounts. Merchants spend hours tracking dues and lose significant revenue due to misplaced ledgers or missed collections. Khatabook said it is helping merchants manage their credit, creating transparency in cash flow, and increasing trust with end-consumers. "Khatabook is the biggest player in the micro, small and medium business segment in the country, with over 8 million active merchants on the app. Khatabook is playing an important role in the digitisation of MSMEs -- a sector that forms the backbone of our economy -- helping to increase their incomes and making them more efficient and competitive," Khatabook co-founder and CEO Ravish Naresh said. The company is looking to work closely with the government and financial institutions to strengthen Indian MSMEs, he added. By building on top of messaging apps, Yalochat is meeting "As we build this company, we see that this is a new way of operating on top of messaging," Mata said. "We take the user perspective and not the technology perspective as one of the key things that allowed us to go further than our competitors. We managed to understand that ultimately it needed to be easy for users to use in order for this to work out."Yalochat saw a 650% increase in messages on its app during the coronavirus crisis, and Mata theorized that Yalochat's usage continued to grow because it became clear to companies that they needed to make their business digital in order to stay running. And with Yalochat, they don't need to download a brand new app, but can simply use the messaging apps they already have. "Now that the dust has settled, you can see what types of companies are growing," Mata said. "That ultimately allowed us to get the funding."<h2>'Everyone thought we were crazy'</h2>Yalochat originally launched in Mexico City, and eventually expanded to other markets worldwide. Mata says in the beginning, "everyone thought we were crazy" to launch in emerging markets, as most major <keyword id="286636" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="Enterprise-Software">enterprise software</keyword> companies come out of the US or Europe.However, he says ultimately, it paid off. With the funding, Yalochat plans to expand globally and make its platform available to more non-developers. He was especially looking for investors that believe successful companies can be built out of anywhere. The acquisition of stake will be at ₹475 per share, and the transaction is expected to be completed in the next coming months. <ul><li>Conducted across 15 cities in <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>, the research indicates 98% of respondents from <keyword id="302378" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="east-india" source="Orion">East India</keyword> are aware of <keyword id="6416838" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="CoinDCX" source="Orion">CoinDCX</keyword>. </li><li>60% of crypto users in the East have used it in the last one year. </li><li>Users stated easy interface, quick money withdrawal and good referral programs for their preference.</li></ul>A survey conducted by CoinDCX, one of India’s leading crypto exchanges, revealed that 74% of non-crypto users are aware of the crypto exchange. The crypto company conducted an empirical study across 15 cities to understand the awareness of crypto created by exchanges across India. The survey had over 2,000 respondents across platforms. The first crypto unicorn in India, CoinDCX has an estimated 13 million users. While 74% of non-crypto users are aware of CoinDCX as well, over 41% of respondents which included crypto and non-crypto users stated that they could recall the brand spontaneously. Awareness of the brand is 91%, highest among crypto users as compared to other crypto exchanges in the country, revealed the report. Moreover, the research indicated that the consideration for CoinDCX as a brand is 79% among female crypto users as compared to 67% among male crypto users. “However, the lack of credible information and jargon associated with investments makes them reluctant to invest,” said CoinDCX. The research stated that online channels such as websites, internet searches, influencers, and content creators on social media played key roles for the brand outreach among crypto users. While newspapers, online articles, and stories are the key drivers among non-crypto users, referrals from friends and family helped gain further trust.
