The Uttar Pradesh cabinet on Tuesday approved a proposal from the <keyword id="19991117" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="TATA-Sons" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="TATA Sons" meta.hostid="153" meta.entityid="TATA Sons">Tata Sons</keyword> to build a '<keyword id="22179760" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="museum-of-temples" source="keywords">museum of temples</keyword>' in <keyword id="19897034" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ayodhya" source="keywords">Ayodhya</keyword> at a cost of Rs 650 crore. Sharing details about the decision, Tourism Minister Jaivir Singh said the tourism department would provide the company land for the international-level museum on a 90-year lease for a token amount of Re 1. "Tata Sons had proposed the project through the Central government, offering to build the museum at a cost of Rs 650 crore under its corporate social responsibility fund," Singh said at a press meet here after the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. A 'museum of temples' in Ayodhya has been talked about since last year. In September, Adityanath and senior officials made a presentation on it before Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "The prime minister liked the idea of the temple museum very much and it was discussed in detail," an official had told PTI then. The plan then was to showcase the history and architecture of famous temples in the country. Also discussed was setting up a light-and-sound show at the proposed museum. The state cabinet on Tuesday also okayed another proposal of the Tata Sons for carrying out development works in the temple town at an additional cost of Rs 100 crore, Singh said. Tata Sons is the principal investment holding company and promoter of Tata companies. Other proposals approved during the cabinet meeting included the launch of helicopter services in <keyword id="19945772" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Lucknow" source="keywords">Lucknow</keyword>, Prayagraj an Kapilvastu under the public-private partnership (PPP) model by building helipads, Singh said. The cabinet also cleared a proposal to develop dormant heritage buildings into tourist spots, the minister said. Three such heritage buildings- Kothi Roshan Dulha in Lucknow, Barsana Jal Mahal in Mathura and Shukla Talab (pond) in Kanpur -- were selected for development as tourist spots, he said. He added that researchers would be selected under the Mukhya Mantri tourism fellowship programme for the purpose. Urban Development Minister A K Sharma, who was also present in the press meet, said the state cabinet approved plans worth Rs 351.40 crore for expanding the sewage system in the outer areas of Ayodhya under the Amrit Yojana-2 programme. He said the financial contribution share towards the Amrit Yojana scheme by local bodies serving a population of 10 lakh has been reduced from 30 per cent to 15 per cent. Similarly, the share of the civic bodies catering to a population size between 1 lakh to 10 lakh has been decreased from 20 per cent to 10 per cent, the minister added. New Delhi, Indians are travelling more frequently, with <keyword id="20119826" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="searches" source="keywords">searches</keyword> for <keyword id="19982555" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="spiritual-destinations" source="keywords">spiritual destinations</keyword> like <keyword id="19897034" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ayodhya" source="keywords">Ayodhya</keyword>, <keyword id="19923420" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ujjain" source="keywords">Ujjain</keyword> and <keyword id="20088006" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Badrinath" source="keywords">Badrinath</keyword> soaring, according to a report unveiled on Monday. The MakeMyTrip India <keyword id="19916662" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="travel" source="keywords">Travel</keyword> Trends Report, which dives into <keyword id="19916662" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="travel" source="keywords">travel</keyword> behaviours based on insights from its base of over 100 million active annual users, reveals that since 2019, there has been a 25 per cent increase in the number of people taking more than three trips a year. This surge in travel is fuelled by a growing interest in spiritual journeys. <keyword id="20119826" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="searches" source="keywords">Searches</keyword> for spiritual tourism witnessed a 97 per cent increase in 2023 compared to 2021, according to the report. Tier-2 and tier-3 cities, in particular, are witnessing a surge in searches for destinations with religious significance. Searches for <keyword id="19897034" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ayodhya" source="keywords">Ayodhya</keyword> soared by a whopping 585 per cent in 2023 compared to 2022, as per the report. Similarly, <keyword id="19923420" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ujjain" source="keywords">Ujjain</keyword> and <keyword id="20088006" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Badrinath" source="keywords">Badrinath</keyword>, saw search increases of 359 per cent and 343 per cent, respectively. The report also finds that weekend getaways continue to be a favourite, with Jim Corbett National Park witnessing a 131 per cent rise in searches in 2023 as compared to 2022. Hill stations like Ooty and Munnar are also popular choices, especially for those from the southern part of the country. The report also sheds light on international travel preferences, as Dubai, Bangkok, and Singapore remain the top three most searched destinations, while London, Toronto, and New York hold the fort for long-haul travel. According to the report, there is a growing interest in off-the-beaten-path locations, as searches for destinations like Hong Kong, Almaty (Kazakhstan), Paro (Bhutan), Baku (Azerbaijan), Da Nang (Vietnam), and Tbilisi (Georgia) have all seen significant growth in 2023. Moreover, family travel bookings are booming, with the report highlighting a 64 per cent surge in 2023 compared to 2022. Solo travel recorded a 23 per cent growth in bookings during the same period.
