Billionaire <keyword id="22623487" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Stanley-Druckenmiller" source="keywords">Stanley Druckenmiller</keyword>'s family office-led investment firms were among the companies that sought shares of AESL in the QIP. AESL in the filing said its board has approved allocation of over 8.57 crore shares to eligible qualified institutional buyers at the issue price of Rs 976 per share, reflecting a discount of Rs 51.11 (4.98 per cent) to the floor price of Rs 1,027. Giving details of allottees who got more than 5 per cent of shares, it said INQ Holdings LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of QIA, cornered 15 per cent of the shares sold. Two Mauritius funds of Citigroup bought 8.88 per cent of the shares sold while four SBI funds - SBI Infrastructure Fund, SBI Large &amp; Midcap Fund, SBI Long term Advantage Fund Series IV and SBI Magnum Children's Benefit Fund - together took home 7.93 per cent of the shares. Nomura Singapore Ltd ODI cornered 7.5 per cent of the shares, the filing showed. INQ had in August last year acquired nearly 2.7 per cent in Adani Green Energy Ltd - the renewable energy firm of the conglomerate run by billionaire Gautam Adani. In 2020, it had acquired a stake in Adani Electricity Mumbai Ltd, a subsidiary of AESL. The QIP issue marked the debut of highly prestigious long-only investors Duquesne Family Office, Driehaus Capital Management and Jennison Associates which are known for their strong performance. These investors are known for investing only in companies with high governance and are known for staying invested for decades. The QIP was the first public equity raise by the conglomerate since a damning Hindenburg report last year wiped away billions in shareholder value. The demand generated made the AESL QIP the largest in the energy space. Duquesne was founded by billionaire Stanley Druckenmiller, who along with George Soros in 1992 broke the Bank of England by shorting the British pound, leading to its crash and earnings over a billion dollars. Adani Group has a history of introducing several long-only investors in the market. In the past years, it has brought large investors including GQG Partners and International Holding Company (IHC) besides QIA. Other major global names that participated in the QIP include Blackrock, Jupiter Asset Management, and Eastspring. Domestic mutual funds that have participated included HDFC Mutual Fund, Axis Mutual Fund, Bandhan Mutual Fund, LIC, WhiteOak, 360One among others. Insurance companies including SBI Insurance, SBI Pension and ASK Asset Management have also participated, according to sources. QIP is an instrument used by listed companies to raise funds from large institutions. The fundraise is the first after Adani group's flagship firm scrapped a Rs 20,000 crore issue in February last year, following the Hindenburg report alleging accounting fraud and stock manipulation. Though the group vehemently and repeatedly denied all allegations, listed companies of the conglomerate at one point saw over USD 150 billion of their market value being wiped out. While the group has largely recovered, a successful QIP is being seen as a powerful vote of investor confidence in the tycoon. Separately, Adani Enterprises Ltd, the flagship firm of the group, is looking to revive its first-ever public sale of bonds. It plans to raise as much as Rs 600 crore. The company has hired Trust Investment Advisors, AK Capital Services and Nuvama Wealth Management as lead managers for the issuances. The group had tapped the dollar bond market in March this year - the first time since the Hindenburg report - when its solar energy unit Adani Green Energy Ltd and associated firms got bids of about USD 2.9 billion.

It’s not just banks Banks are only a part of the liquidity crunch in the economy. Non-banking financing companies (NBFCs) have been pulling back on credit since the IL&amp;FS crisis of 2018. The FPO is scheduled for some time in the first half of June and <keyword id="66607" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kotak-securities">Kotak Securities</keyword>, Axis Cap, SBI Cap and Citi are reported to be amongst the key players. Yes Bank is looking to raise ₹10,000 crore through FPO – with Kotak Securities, Axis Capital, and SBI Capital reportedly to be key players

New Delhi, Jul 2 () Private sector lender Axis Bank on Thursday said it has received board of director's approval for raising funds up to Rs 15,000 crore though issuance of various securities. In a regulatory filing Axis Bank said the board at its meeting held on Thursday has approved the proposal relating to raising of funds not exceeding Rs 15,000 crore. The fund raising will be "through issue of equity shares/depository receipts and/or any other instruments or securities representing either equity shares and/or convertible securities linked to equity shares," the filing said. The filing further said the fund raising can be through Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP)/ American Depository Receipts (ADRs)/ Global Depository Receipts (GDRs) programme, preferential allotment or such other permissible mode or combinations as may be considered appropriate by the Board. The fund raising proposal, will be subject to the approval of shareholders at the ensuing 26th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the bank. In a separate filing, the lender said that the board has also decided to convene and hold the AGM of the shareholders on Friday, July 31, 2020 through Video Conferencing, in compliance with the relevant provisions of the Companies Act. Axis Bank gets board nod to raise up to Rs 15,000 cr

New Delhi, Jul 3 () Private sector lender Axis Bank plans to raise up to Rs 50,000 crore through debt securities and equity share to maintain adequate level of capital for risk weighted assets and fund business growth. Under the proposal, Axis Bank will raise Rs 35,000 crore through debt securities in Indian or foreign currency, while Rs 15,000 crore to be raised through issuance of equity shares or securities convertible into equity shares, Axis Bank said in a regulatory filing. The board of bank has already approved the capital mop-up. The private sector lender said its annual general meeting (AGM) is to be held on July 31, 2020 and it will seek shareholders' approval for the proposals. The AGM will take place through video conferencing. Keeping in view the projections of the bank in domestic and overseas operations, it may need to raise additional funds in one or more tranches in Indian as well as overseas market in the form of capital to maintain desired capital to risk weighted assets ratio (CRAR) by issue of debt securities denominated in Indian rupees or any other permitted foreign currency, Axis Bank said. The debt securities, it said, can be through instruments like long term bonds, green bonds, masala bonds, optionally/compulsorily convertible debentures, and non-convertible debentures on a private placement basis, during the period of one year, from the date of passing of this special resolution. Axis Bank said the board of directors will seek to obtain permission of shareholders for borrowing/raising funds of "an amount not exceeding Rs 35,000 crore, on a private placement basis". The said limit of Rs 35,000 crores will be within the overall borrowing limit of Rs 2,00,000 crore as approved by the members in June 2018, it said. On the equity fund raise, it said the bank has grown consistently over the last several years. Since the last equity capital raised by the bank in 2019, the business of the lender has continued to grow across various business lines. Regulatory requirements for equity capital continue to increase with the adoption of Basel III requirements by the Reserve Bank of India. As on March 31, 2020, the bank's common equity Tier I (CET 1) ratio was 13.34 per cent. HDFC’s stock value jumped by 1.5% in early morning trade after the company announced that it has plans to raise ₹14,000 crore through its new equity fundraising program. In addition to the ₹14,000 crore, HDFC will also be issuing secured redeemable non-convertible debentures worth ₹9,000 crore. This is the third time in the last 12 years that HDFC is raising capital through such an offering. It did so once in 2009 and then again in 2015. HDFC's first full quarter in the face of the coronavirus pandemic saw a loss of 4.7% at the end of June. Its gross non-performing loans stood at ₹8,631 crore accounting for 1.87% of HDFC’s loan portfolio. The company already has ₹12,285 in the bank as provisions to serve as a cushion once the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) moratorium ends on August 31. It even added another ₹1,199 this quarter specifically for COVID related accounts. Despite having safeguards in place, many companies are going down the QIP route to shore up capital against the uncertainty of the coronavirus pandemic. MUMBAI: The markets are on a roll, with the <keyword id="6484188" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sensex">Sensex</keyword> and Nifty making fresh life highs, led by gains in banks, auto and energy counters. 
 
The new life high for Sensex is 26,356.24; and that for Nifty is 7,865.85. 
 
The Nifty extended its winning streak for fifth consecutive session and hit an all-time high as FIIs continued to pump in dollars in Indian markets on expectations of pick-up in economy 
 
Sudip Bandyopadhyay, President, Destimoney Securities, is of the view that the market will continue to move upwards. 
 
“A lot of FIIs money is coming out of Russia into Indian markets through BRICS fund. Domestic investors are also entering the market and that is providing support,” said Bandyopadhyay. 
 
At 2:02 p.m.; the 50-share index was at 7,860.95, up 69.25 points or 0.89 per cent. It touched an all-time high of 7,865.85 and a low of 7,779.20 in trade today. 
 The S&amp;P <keyword id="35140" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="BSE">BSE</keyword> Sensex was at 26,340.82, up 237.59 points or 0.91 per cent. It touched an all-time high of 26,356.24 and a low of 26,075.28 in trade today. 
 
Sandeep Tandon of Quant Broking is of the view that market went through consolidation in the last three months. It is light at the moment and looks set for next leg of upmove. 
 
The CNX Midcap Index rallied 1.27 per cent and the CNX Smallcap Index surged 2.10 per cent. 
 
Among the sectoral indices, the CNX Bank Nifty was up 1.49 per cent, the CNX Auto Index gained 1.02 per cent, the CNX Energy Index rose 1.42 per cent. 
 
The CNX FMCG Index was down 0.75 per cent and the CNX IT Index slipped 0.51 per cent. 
 BPCL (up 5.25 per cent), <keyword id="6355975" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Axis-Bank">Axis Bank</keyword> (up 3.11 per cent), <keyword id="45008" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Power">Tata Power</keyword> (up 3.04 per cent), BHEL (up 2.91 per cent) and Tata Motors (up 2.87 per cent) were among the major Nifty gainers. 
 
ITC (1.92 per cent), Infosys (1.01 per cent), HCL Tech (0.80 per cent), HDFC (0.70 per cent) and TCS (0.68 per cent) were among the index losers. 
 
The market breadth was positive on the NSE with 1090 gainers against 425 losers. 
 
Foreign institutional investors were net buyers worth Rs 625.18 crore and domestic institutional investors were net buyers worth Rs 135.75 crore on Thursday as per the provisional data from the National Stock Exchange.

Mumbai, Jul 8 () Second largest private sector lender ICICI Bank on Wednesday said its board has decided to raise up to Rs 15,000 crore in core capital through a variety of routes. The lender joins peers, including Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Federal Bank and Yes Bank, who have either raised fresh capital or decided to do so soon, amid the COVID-19 pandemic. "The board, at its meeting held today, has approved raising of funds for an amount aggregating up to Rs 15,000 crore in one or more tranches," ICICI Bank said in a regulatory filing on Wednesday. The money will be raised either through a private placement of shares or preferential issue or qualified institutions placement (QIP) or follow-on public offering (FPO), or a combination thereof, it added. The issue will be undertaken subject to shareholders' approval through postal ballot process and other regulatory approvals. The board has constituted and authorised an 'issuance committee' to decide the terms and conditions of the proposed fund raise, it added. The bank's overall capital adequacy had stood at 16.11 per cent, with the core tier-I ratio at a comfortable 14.72 per cent as of March 31. Its standalone net had increased 26 per cent to Rs 1,221 crore for the March quarter. It can be noted that credit growth is very sluggish at present due to the overall impact on the economy because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Kotak Mahindra Bank raised over Rs 7,700 crore in a QIP in May, Yes Bank has begun a process to raise up to Rs 15,000 crore through an FPO, Axis Bank has got board nod to raise up to Rs 15,000 crore while Federal Bank has hinted at raising up to Rs 12,000 crore next year after getting a board clearance last month.
