The collaboration will allow EV users with the Light Electric Combined Charging System - <keyword id="22949805" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="LECCS" source="keywords">LECCS</keyword>, the official Indian EV charging connector standard, on their two-wheelers to find '<keyword id="22949806" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ather-Grid" source="keywords">Ather Grid</keyword>' fast chargers on Google with complete live status updates of the chargers, the company said in a statement. Chargers with LECCS will appear when searching for 'EV charger near me' or '<keyword id="20593483" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="charging-stations" source="keywords">charging stations</keyword>" on <keyword id="19895625" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="google-maps" source="keywords">Google Maps</keyword> and whenever a new charger is installed, it will also be listed on Google Maps, it added. Ather Grid's fast-charging network for electric two-wheelers is based on the indigenously developed LECCS, which is approved for nation-wide adoption by the Bureau of Indian Standards, Ather Energy said. The new standard was launched last year in a significant move towards building a universal standard through interoperability, thus paving the way for wider adoption of <keyword id="19895203" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="electric-vehicles" source="keywords">electric vehicles</keyword> in the country. As of March 30, 2024, 1,973 fast chargers are already available to the public, Ather Energy said.

He believes that it’s quite premature to worry about competition. “It’s best to keep the competition in the peripheral vision and the customer in the primary one,” said Phokela, stating that Ather’s philosophy in this regard is “not going to change”. Ather’s Ravneet Phokela on the company’s new scooter, affordability, EV safety and more

Buying any of the two plans gives you free charging at the Ather Grid points, which are currently available in Bengaluru and Chennai. The company is also offering the Ather 450X without subscription plans. This brings up the price to ₹1,49,000 for the Ather 450X Plus and ₹1,59,000 for the Ather 450X Pro. This time he has returned as an investor on Bengaluru-based <keyword id="599176" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Electric-Bike">electric bike</keyword> startup Ather Energy. As an angel investor, Bansal had earlier invested $0.5 million in the startup way back in 2014. Ather Energy has raised $51 million in its latest round of funding which was led by Bansal. The electric bike startup had earlier raised funding from Hero MotoCorp and Innoven Capital. The startup had made news for being one of India’s first startups to start manufacturing electric vehicles. In June 2018, the startup’s first bike Ather 450 hit the market. According to the company’s official statement, Ather is now entering an aggressive expansion phase, with the opening of pre-orders in Chennai in the coming weeks, and eventually scaling to 30 cities by the end of 2023. The company is also planning to build a new manufacturing facility which will produce one million vehicles a year. Ather Energy will also set up 6500 Ather Grid fast charging points across the country over the next 5 years with a projected investment of ₹130 crores. “The traditional auto industry is up for a redefinition. Watching Ather closely since my early investment in 2014, I am convinced that the ecosystem that Ather is building with their products is the future of urban mobility. Their focus on end to end customer experience will open up new revenue opportunities and accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in India,” said Sachin Bansal in a statement. Although Ather Energy’s bikes are at a higher price point, with a starting range of ₹1,13,000, they have managed to gain popularity in Bengaluru. Benchmark indices <keyword id="6484188" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sensex" source="Orion">Sensex</keyword> and <keyword id="6354813" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nifty" source="Orion">Nifty</keyword> ended higher on Tuesday, marking their second straight day of gains following a rebound in the US markets and fresh foreign fund inflows. The 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 361.75 points or 0.44 per cent to settle at 81,921.29 driven by gains in IT, telecom and select banking shares. During the day, it jumped 637.01 points or 0.78 per cent to 82,196.55. Among the 30 Sensex firms, NTPC, HCL Technologies, Bharti Airtel, Tech Mahindra, Power Grid, Axis Bank, Tata Consultancy Services and Adani Ports were the biggest gainers. Bajaj Finserv, Bajaj Finance, Hindustan Unilever, Mahindra &amp; Mahindra, Tata Motors and State Bank of India were among the laggards. In Asian markets, Shanghai and Hong Kong settled higher while Seoul and Tokyo ended lower. European markets were trading on a mixed note. The US markets ended significantly higher on Monday. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) bought equities worth Rs 1,176.55 crore on Monday, according to exchange data. Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) also bought equities worth Rs 1,757.02 crore. Global oil benchmark Brent crude declined 1.39 per cent to USD 70.84 a barrel. "With an overnight rebound on Wall Street, strong net buying from both FIIs and DIIs, and sluggish oil prices, bullish traders are expected to pursue bargains," Prashanth Tapse, Senior VP (Research), Mehta Equities Ltd, said. The BSE benchmark Sensex rebounded 375.61 points or 0.46 per cent to settle at 81,559.54 on Monday. Sensex, Nifty climb on rally in US markets, foreign fund inflows

India VIX came down yesterday. In the Nifty 50 list, IndusInd Bank, ONGC, Asian Paints, SBI Life, and SBI shares were the top gainers in the opening session. By the time of filing this report, out of the 2,156 stocks that opened for trading, 1,418 were trading in advance, 650 were declining, and 88 remained unchanged. "Nifty is trending bullishly within a rising channel, with support at 22,500. The index is likely to move towards 22,800 in the short term, with immediate support at 22,600. A dip below 22,600 might briefly push the index towards 22,500. Any dip should be seen as a buying opportunity," said Varun Aggarwal, MD of Profit Idea. Asian markets declined on Thursday, influenced by the US Fed minutes that revealed a cautious approach to monetary easing amid persistent inflation. MSCI's Asia-Pacific index outside Japan dropped 0.57 per cent, while Australia's S&amp;P/ASX 200 index fell 0.8 per cent. The US tech Nvidia's Q1 earnings, posted on Thursday, showed a net income surged to USD 14.88 billion, up from USD 2.04 billion a year earlier, with revenue tripling to USD 26.04 billion. The US Fed minutes revealed some officials are willing to raise interest rates, unsettling markets. On Wednesday, the S&amp;P 500 fell 0.27 per cent to 5,307, the Nasdaq dropped 0.18 per cent to 16,801, and the Dow Jones finished down 0.5 per cent at 39,671.04. The US Treasury 10-year yield rose to 4.42 per cent, while the Dollar Index peaked at 105. Indian markets open flat, experts raise concern on overvaluation of small, midcap stocks

The government has directed all <keyword id="21291274" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="gas-based-power" source="keywords">gas-based power</keyword> generating stations to operationalise their plants from May 1 to June 30 in view of rise in <keyword id="19913208" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="electricity-demand" source="keywords">electricity demand</keyword> due to a likely prolonged heat wave this summer. A significant portion of Gas-Based Generating Stations (GBSs) is currently unutilized, primarily due to commercial considerations. The ministry has projected 260 GW <keyword id="19913206" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="peak-power-demand" source="keywords">peak power demand</keyword> this summer (April to June 2024). Peak power demand had touched an all-time high of 243 GW in September last year. The decision to operationalise GBSs is part of a series of measures taken by the Centre to ensure that electricity demand in the summer is met. According to a power ministry statement, the order shall remain valid for generation and supply of electricity from May 1, 2024 to June 30, 2024. "To ensure maximum <keyword id="20041800" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="power-generation" source="keywords">power generation</keyword> from Gas-Based Generating Stations, the government has issued directions to all Gas-Based Generating Stations under Section 11 of the Electricity Act, 2003, under which the appropriate government may specify that a generating company shall, in extraordinary circumstances operate and maintain any generating station in accordance with the directions of that government," the statement said. The order under Section 11, which is on similar lines as done for imported coal-based power plants, aims to optimise the availability of power from GBSs during the ensuing high demand period. As per the arrangement, GRID-INDIA will inform GBSs in advance, of the number of days for which gas-based power is required. GBSs holding Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with distribution licensees shall first offer their power to PPA holders. If the power offered is not utilised by any PPA holder, then it shall be offered in the power market. GBSs not tied to PPAs must offer their generation in the power market. A high-level committee headed by Chairperson, Central Electricity Authority has been constituted to facilitate the implementation of this direction. Other measures taken by the government to meet the <keyword id="21066026" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="summer-demand" source="keywords">summer demand</keyword> include planned maintenance of power plants to be shifted to monsoon season; new capacity additions to be fast-tracked and partial outages of thermal power plants being brought down. India's electricity demand has been rising rapidly, driven by economic growth, particularly during hot-weather and high-demand periods. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted above-normal maximum temperatures over most parts of the country during the 2024 summer. Govt asks all gas-based plants to be operational from May 1 to June 30 as electricity demand surges

Prime Minister <keyword id="19895781" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="narendra-modi" source="keywords">Narendra Modi</keyword> on Tuesday said that <keyword id="19895063" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="india" source="keywords">India</keyword> will see an investment of USD 67 billion in the energy sector in next 5 to 6 years as he invited global investors to participate in India's growth story. Inaugurating the second edition of the India Energy Week here, Modi said the Indian economy is growing at the rate of more than 7.5 per cent and the country will soon become the world's third-largest economy. He invited global players to participate in India's energy sector growth, saying that the country is expected to increase its refining capacity from 254 MMTPA (million metric tonne per annum) to 450 MMTPA by 2030. He said, "In next 5-6 years, the investment of USD 67 billion is going to be done in energy sector in India." The prime minister further said that India is investing unprecedented money in the energy sector that has never happened before. He also said that the country's primary energy demand will be doubled by 2045. India, Modi said, is the third-largest consumer of crude oil and LPG and the fourth-largest importer of LNG. Petrol and diesel prices reduced in India in last two years, said the prime minister recounting the country's energy management strategy in face of global problems. He said all experts are of the opinion that India is the fastest growing major economy and will soon become the world's third-largest economy. India's GDP growth is now more than 7.5 per cent, he said, adding that this is more than estimated by global bodies. Government reforms are helping boost domestic natural gas production and India is targeting to raise the share of gas in its energy mix to 15 pc by 2030, he added. About the blending of ethanol in petrol, he noted that it has increased from 1.5 pc to 12 pc in last 10 years. Ethanol blending in petrol will reach 20 pc by 2025, he added. India accounts for just 4 pc of global emissions and is targeting net zero by 2070, the prime minister said, adding that surplus electricity generated from just-announced scheme of installing solar rooftop on one crore homes will be connected to grid. India to see investment of USD 67 billion in next 5-6 years in energy sector: PM

Average data consumption per user in <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword> reached 19.5GB per user a month in 2022, which is equivalent to 6,600 songs, a report showed on Thursday. <keyword id="6354485" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="mobile" source="Orion">Mobile</keyword> data traffic in India jumped 3.2 times in the last five years, reaching over 14 exabytes per month, according to Nokia's annual Mobile Broadband Index (MBiT) report. The report revealed that pan-India mobile data usage per month grew from 4.5 exabytes in 2018 to 14.4 exabytes in 2022. Together, 4G and 5G subscribers now account for almost 100 per cent of the total mobile data traffic in the country. "India has seen a massive uptake of mobile broadband based on successful deployment of 4G LTE networks. We believe that 5G will take mobile broadband consumption to the next level in India by enabling new digital use cases for both consumer and enterprise segments," said <keyword id="1621450" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="sanjay-malik" source="Orion">Sanjay Malik</keyword>, <keyword id="217605" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="svp" source="Orion">SVP</keyword> and Head of India Market at Nokia. At an aggregate level, total mobile data consumed in India is expected to more than double by 2024. Over 70 million 5G devices are estimated to have been shipped to India in 2022, indicating a strong traction for 5G in the market. According to the report, enterprise spending on private 5G networks will be driven by new use cases in diverse industry verticals, including manufacturing, utilities, transportation and healthcare, among others in India. The country's investment in private wireless networks is expected to reach around $250 million by 2027. <ul><li><keyword id="56072" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="oil-india-limited" source="Orion">Oil India Limited</keyword> (<keyword id="6359072" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="oil" source="Orion">OIL</keyword>) is a state-run hydrocarbon explorer headquartered in the north-eastern state of Assam. </li><li>OIL says it has been hit by a major cyberattack, with hackers demanding 196 bitcoins in ransom. </li><li>Earlier, suspected Chinese hackers had reportedly targeted the Indian power grid near the Ladakh border. </li></ul>The state-run Oil India Limited (OIL) has been hit by a major cyberattack that has compromised some of the servers of the company. The ransomware attack has hit the company’s headquarters in Assam. According to <a href="https://indianexpress.com/article/north-east-india/assam/oil-india-limited-cyberattack-assam-7867258/">media reports</a>, the hackers have demanded 196 bitcoins as ransom. At the current prices (approx. ₹31.35 lakh per bitcoin), that is a little more than ₹61 crore. According to a statement from the company’s spokesperson Tridiv Hazarika, while the breach is serious and the virus is severe, the company has disabled the affected systems as a precautionary measure. However, of late, suspected state-backed hackers were reportedly behind the attack on the Indian power grid. According to a <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/india/news/suspected-chinese-hackers-reportedly-targeted-indian-grid-near-the-ladakh-border/articleshow/90699898.cms">report</a> by a threat intelligence firm Recorded Future, the Chinese cyber campaign against the Indian power grid could be a part of an espionage operation. The report adds that this could have been an attempt to collect critical data for positioning China for future activities against India. “The prolonged targeting of Indian power grid assets by Chinese state-linked groups offers limited economic espionage or traditional intelligence gathering opportunities,” said the Recorded Future report. Earlier in 2021, Record Future also discovered that a Chinese malware had been found pervading the Indian power grid months after the Galwan valley clashes broke out in 2020. At the same time, Mumbai, India’s financial capital and amongst the worst-hit regions during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/politics-and-nation/is-the-mumbai-blackout-last-year-connected-to-the-ladakh-standoff/articleshow/81277610.cms?from=mdr">suffered</a> a city-wide blackout. Technology is helping enterprises meet their sustainability goals In March, in Antarctica, an ice shelf the size of New York City collapsed due to record high temperatures. It is just one of the symptoms of the climate crisis that affects all of us. Already, millions of people have had their homes or businesses damaged and some are losing their lives in fires, floods, droughts, and storms. Climate crisis is here, and we need to act with urgency because the future of climate change is in our hands. The global pandemic has been a wake-up call for enterprises to consider environmental sustainability as a business imperative. Business Insider India caught up with Dr. <keyword id="14327015" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="tanya-morton" source="Orion">Tanya Morton</keyword>, the worldwide director of customer success engineering for <keyword id="1682531" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="mathworks" source="Orion">MathWorks</keyword>, to understand how organizations are leveraging emerging technologies like artificial intelligence to achieve their environmental sustainability goals. Edited excerpts: The ongoing global climate crisis is a serious cause for concern for individuals and businesses alike. Quite reasonably, sustainability is a core priority for enterprises in post-pandemic recovery. What do you think is the impact of this crisis on companies’ sustainability goals today? The impact is significant. It is great to see how many companies are starting to take action to address the climate crisis. <keyword id="87266" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="stakeholder" source="Orion">Stakeholder</keyword> capitalism imagines corporations as being responsible not only to their shareholders but to their employees, suppliers, communities, and the environment. For example, over 5,000 businesses have signed up for the Race to Zero global campaign and have committed to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050. It is part of a growing movement to re-examine how companies operate—and for whom. To ensure a sustainable future, all companies need to increase their actions to address climate change. That is why MathWorks is committed to becoming carbon neutral by 2023. Tell us about how AI is helping organizations accelerate global sustainability efforts? AI and Cloud technologies accelerate climate research and help us fully understand the scale and extent of the climate crisis. An example I recently covered in my talk at MathWorks’ flagship event, MATLAB EXPO, was about drought. Drought is devastating to crop harvests and can make local communities vulnerable, both from a health perspective and economically. Researchers studied a river basin in Ethiopia and used AI to better predict when drought may occur. This allows communities to be better supported through difficult times. AI also plays a key role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. For example, AI applied in food systems can help better monitor crop yields, reduce the need for chemicals and excess water through precision agriculture, and minimize food waste through forecasting demand and identifying spoiled produce. AI also supports the megatrend called the electrification of everything that is critical to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The electrification of everything refers to the twin pair of generating electricity from renewable sources, then using electricity as the primary energy source. AI supports renewable energy generation, for example, via the design of more efficient and reliable offshore wind farms. It supports the efficient usage of electricity too, for example, machine learning is being used to match energy generation and demand in real-time, realizing more fully the potential of smart grids. MathWorks’ MATLAB and Simulink are used by millions of engineers and scientists to analyze data, develop algorithms, and create models. How do these products help companies meet their sustainability goals? Researchers and developers worldwide are analyzing trends and designing solutions in response to climate change with MATLAB and Simulink. You can view their work, including clean energy products, scientific papers, and financial models on MathWorks climate research and development webpage. With MathWorks tools you can computationally model energy generators and storage devices such as wind turbines, batteries, and solar panels. It can be dangerous and expensive to do research and testing with the real system - you don't want battery fires or snapping turbine blades. Modelling and simulation can help plug this gap. Can you give us some examples of that? An example of MathWorks helping bring green technologies to market is through our work with Ather, an electric two-wheeler company from Bangalore. When the company began, they did not have the time, money, or people to build prototypes for each vehicle. This problem was solved by using MATLAB and Simulink to scale up the speed of testing. Ather scooters come equipped with a touchscreen GPS, remote diagnostics based on data patterns of other users, and an intelligent battery that can autonomously change modes to ensure the highest efficiency. With MATLAB, Simulink, and Model-Based Design, the company identified and validated the best ideas through simulation, making it possible to deliver a more full-featured scooter in less time. Another startup, Boston Metal, introduced groundbreaking technology aimed at producing steel in a more sustainable and cheaper way. The patented technology, <keyword id="14327016" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="molten-oxide-electrolysis" source="Orion">Molten Oxide Electrolysis</keyword> (MOE), replaces traditional processes through the use of direct electric current to separate chemical compounds. Boston Metal’s method produces liquid iron with a byproduct of oxygen instead of carbon, a cleaner and simpler process. You spoke about electrification earlier. Could you give us insights into MathWorks’ electrification efforts for climate change issues across sectors such as automotive, energy, <keyword id="6354525" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="healthcare" source="Orion">healthcare</keyword>, etc.? There is a growing demand for engineers to meet the worldwide demand for electric vehicles (EVs). To address this, MathWorks along with Bosch and NIT Calicut jointly created and delivered a new final-year undergraduate course, Electric Vehicle System Engineering. This is a good example of collaboration between academia and industry to address the talent shortage. We work with various industry associations to deliver professional development programmes for working professionals to help build skills around electrification. Many incubators and accelerators across the world have been partnering with us through the MathWorks Accelerator Program. We have signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with governmental organizations like Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) to extend this to hundreds of accelerators across the country. We are seeing several start-ups, including those in areas like two-wheeler electric vehicles, healthcare, and sustainable engineering, accelerating their product development through the benefits offered through this programme. Several of these vehicles have been announced including the iconic Chetak. With the entry of Bajaj, competition in the electric segment is heating up providing a wire array of options for consumers. And, there are more launches to come. Piaggio has showcased its Vespa Elettrica, an electric version of the popular Vespa scooter. This is also identical to the Chetak in terms of design which targets the premium segment. The scooter has been introduced in two variants – Urbane and Premium, priced at ₹1 lakh and ₹1.5 lakh respectively. The Chetak is a combination of retro and modern designs. The Bajaj Chetak is powered by a 3kWh battery that can be charged in 5 hours and has a range of 85 km on sports mode and 95 km on economy mode. It has a top speed of 78 kmph.  Ather, the Bengaluru-based tech start-up recently unveiled the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/business/auto/news/ather-450x-launched-in-india-price-features/articleshow/73693377.cms">Ather 450X</a>. It is a revamped version of its Ather 450 and brings a bigger battery, increased power and range. It is powered by a 6 kW electric motor that gives it a top speed of 80 kmph. It has a 2.9 kWh Li-ion battery that gives it a range of 75 km in ride mode and 85 km in Eco mode. The Ather 450X has been priced at ₹99,000 and the buyer can select from one of the monthly subscription plans for access to charging points. The Plus plan is priced at ₹1,699 per month and the Pro plan is priced at ₹1,999 per month. Buying one of the two plans gives you free charging at Ather Grid points.  TVS Motors, the second largest scooter manufacturer in the country too entered the segment with the launch of the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/tvs-iqube-electric-scooter-india-price-availability/articleshow/73655344.cms">iQube Electric</a>. It is priced at ₹1.5 lakh and is currently available in Karnataka only. It is powered by a 4.4 kW electric motor and has a top speed of 78 kmph. It has a 4.5 kWh 3 Li-ion battery that can be charged in 5 hours and has a range of 75 km on Eco mode. The scooter is equipped with SmaartXonnect and Q-Park assist.  The Vespa Elettrica is a premium electric scooter that was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020. Piaggio, the company behind Vespa hasn’t launched the electric scooter in India yet - but said that it plans to do so, soon. The Vespa Elettrica is identical to the Bajaj Chetak in terms of design and features the same neo-retro look. It has a round headlamp, contrast colour air vents, a 4.3-inch digital instrument panel and smartphone connectivity. It is powered by a 4kW motor and has two riding modes – Power and Eco. The company has claimed that the scooter can be fully charged in 4 hours and a single charge will give a range of up to 100 km.  The Hero AE-29 was showcased during the Auto Expo 2020. It has a top speed of 55 kmph and can be charged in under four hours. As per the company, the scooter will have a range of 80 km on a single charge. The company has dubbed the AE-29 as the first IOT-enabled scooter. It features anti-theft smart lock, walk assist, reverse assist and mobile charger. The Hero AE-29 is expected to be launched in the coming months. Hero Electric AE-3 - a three-wheeled scooter

 Hero has showcased a unique three-wheeled scooter which is also known as a trike. The trike, dubbed as Hero Electric AE-3 will be the first such vehicle to be launched in India. The Hero Electric AE-3 is powered by a 5.5kW electric motor that gives it a top speed of 80 kmph. It is equipped with a 4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that can be fully charged in 5 hours and has a range of 100 km. Other features on the AE-3 include geofencing, real-time tracking, fully digital instrument cluster and reverse assist. The scooter can balance itself while standing still by using its gyroscope-enabled auto-balance park switch. Evolet Raptor - a rotor that pushes for 100 kmph

 Evolet, a Gurugram-based start-up showcased the Raptor maxi scooter at the Auto Expo 2020. It is expected to go on sale in June this year. The company has not revealed any information about its price yet. The Evolet Raptor is powered by a 3kW motor which gives it a top speed of 100 kmph. The company has claimed that the scooter can be fully charged in 3-4 hours and it has a range of 100 – 150 km on a single charge.
