At a time, when most of us complain that almost every smartphone looks alike and offers more or less the same features, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=ASUS">Asus </a>is trying to create a demarcation with its ‘photography-focused’ Zenfones. While its previous Zenfones did manage to grap Indian’s heart, this time Asus has placed all its bets on the Zenfone Zoom, which it claims is its most advanced photography-focused smartphone. It is currently retailing on <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword> for a price of Rs 37,999 ad starting February 2016, it will be available on ASUS exclusive stores as well. 

	So, what makes this<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=smartphones+"> smartphone </a>different? Its camera. In Zenfone Zoom you get world’s thinnest 3x optical-zoom that lets you get real close to the objects and capture moments with same clarity as you do with your digital cameras. Saying that image quality would be same that your <keyword id="37530" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Canon">Canon</keyword>, Nikon or Sony cameras offer would be wrong, but yes, Zenfone Zoom comes quiet close. Yesterday, when the company unveiled the phone at a gala event held in Agra, we had a brush with 13MP rear camera and 5MP front shooter, and found that detailing and clarity was quiet decent. Perhaps, it is the 10-element HOYA lens arrangement, dual-LED real Tone flash, and 0.03 seconds laser auto-focus that helped us get crystal clear pictures indoors. We will be testing out the device outdoors to see how smart Zenfone Zoom’s camera is and if it is any worthy to be called a DSLR killer in few days after we’d be through with our review. For the first impression it sure looks good. 

	Besides camera, Zenfone Zoom also has a decent hardware and unibody design to boast of. You get an expansive 5.5-inch 1920x1080 Full HD IPS display along with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection, a quad-core 2.3GHz Intel Atom Z3580 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM, 128 GB storage and a 3,000mAh Li-Polymer battery. We don’t know why Asus didn’t announce the 64GB variant of Zenfone Zoom in India, which is otherwise available in other global locations. Perhaps, the company plans to bring it here later but we can’t say for sure. Let’s wait till they make an announcement and stay tuned with us for an in-depth analysis of Zenfone Zoom’s camera. We will be posting it shortly.

Beijing, July 6 (IANS) Chinese smartphone maker Huawei has filed a new patent for a smartphone with an external lens at the back, similar to what is already available on DSLR cameras. The Huawei P40 Pro Plus is currently the only smartphone to offer 10x optical zoom using a periscope lens. The company has further plans to lead in this segment as it has patented a design for a unique zoom camera smartphone at European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), reports GizmoChina. The design has a triple camera on the back with two small sensors, an elongated flash module and a larger sensor which can be used with removable lenses. Earlier, Huawei filed a patent for a smartphone with three-flip camera design. The patent has been filed with WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office). The design is similar to that of the ASUS Zenfone 6 but the upcoming Huawei's smartphone will feature three cameras instead of two. --IANS wh/na

The likes of Samsung and OnePlus are testing betas of their <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/tech/mobile/news/how-to-download-android-12-beta-update-on-samsung-galaxy-s21-series-smartphones/articleshow/86254446.cms">OS based on Android 12</a> on their flagship phones. According to a report in <a href="https://www.androidcentral.com/when-will-my-phone-get-android-12">Android Central</a>, the newly launched smartphones from top Android phone makers are expected to get the Android 12 in the next couple of months, while the older devices will get it sometime in the first half of next year. Oppo is yet to share its timeline of when its phones will get the Android 12 update, however, we do have the roadmap for ColorOS 12 beta release on its phones. <ul><li>The Find X3 series got it in October.</li><li>The Find X2 series and Reno 6 series are expected to get it in November, 2021.</li><li>The Reno 5 series, K9, A95 and Ace 2 series are expected to get ColorOS 12 beta by December, 2021. </li></ul><cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Realme" comment="subhead" text="Realme">Realme</cmsannotation> Plenty of Realme phones will have the Android 12 update, with some even getting early access with beta release. While there are plenty of eligible Samsung devices getting the update, we are yet to hear the official timelines from the company itself. These phones from Samsung are eligible for the Android 12 update. <ul><li>Galaxy S series: For the Galaxy S21 series, the Android 12 beta update rolled out last month. This includes most devices that launched on Android 11 and only two devices with Android 10 out-of-the-box get the update. These devices include Motorola RAZR 5G, Motorola Edge+ (2020), Motorola Edge (2021), Motorola Edge 20, Edge 20 Pro, Edge 20 Lite, Moto G10, Power Moto G20, Moto G30, Moto G40, Moto G50, Moto G60 and Moto G100. The roadmap of the Android 12 release is yet to be officially announced, but it is expected to happen soon. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Nokia" comment="subhead" text="Nokia">Nokia</cmsannotation> Nokia XR20 is expected to see Android 12 beta release soon while the other devices that will get the latest Android update include Nokia X20, Nokia X10, Nokia G50, Nokia G20, Nokia G10, Nokia 8.3 5G, Nokia 8 V 5G UW, Nokia 5.4, Nokia 5.3, Nokia 1.3, Nokia 2.4 and Nokia 3.4. While the XR20 is expected to get the update first, the others may get it late in 2022.
