Ltd. The ban by the Delhi government still continues on Ola and Uber from offering service in the state as they do not have licence to operate in Dehi under Modified Radio Taxi Scheme 2006 of Transport Department of Delhi. <br />

In response to their application, the High Court issued an order dated on 11<sup>th</sup> of this month. It states that Apra Cabs &amp; Serendipity Info Labs relief but clearly states that ANI technologies (Ola Cabs) has NOT been granted any relief or exemption. Ola Cabs were asked by the high court to withdraw the petition which they did.<br />

No, Ola Cabs in Delhi is still not permitted to operate taxi service

<br /> As per an order from the <keyword id="6355014" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Delhi-High-Court">Delhi High Court</keyword>, <keyword id="6354720" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ola">Ola</keyword>, <keyword id="1042120" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Uber">Uber</keyword> and the radio taxis' association will be giving out details of the cabs that are intended to be phased out by March 31 because of an order from as per the Supreme Court's order.<br />

Justice J R Midha has issued the direction to ANI Technologies Ltd, the company behind Ola cars, Association of Radio Taxis and Uber. This has been done because the Delhi government needs the details of cabs that are to be phased out, so that proper action can be taken after the deadline.<br />
<br />
The court has given these companies time till April 10 so that the details can be submitted along with an affidavit in a sealed cover.<br />
<br />
The details are required by the transport department so that action can be taken against companies not complying with court orders.<br />

Submit all details about phased out cabs: Delhi High Court directs Ola, Uber and radio taxis

<p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>Tech giants are starting to turn their attention to "flying cars."<p>Uber released a <a href="https://www.uber.com/elevate.pdf" target="_blank">98-page white paper</a> last week outlining its plans to bring "flying cars" to commuters by 2026. Google co-founder Larry Page is also <a href="http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-06-09/welcome-to-larry-page-s-secret-flying-car-factories" target="_blank">funding a "flying car" project</a>&#xa0;through a start-up named Zee.Aero, and its prototype was reportedly <a href="http://www.montereyherald.com/article/NF/20161023/NEWS/161029863" target="_blank">seen in action</a> at&#xa0;<span>Hollister Municipal Airport in October.</span></p><p><span>But Airbus, which offers a legacy of building civil aircrafts and working with the Federal Aviation Administration, is also developing its own "flying car"&#xa0;as part of its Project Vahana&#xa0;- and its aviation experience could give it an edge. Project Vahana is being run&#xa0;under Airbus' Silicon Valley arm, named A³.</span></p><p>To get this out of the way early, all of these companies aren't&#xa0;<em>really</em> interested in developing flying cars, hence the quotation marks. That would indicate they were trying to take the same route as <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/terrafugia-could-have-flying-car-ready-in-2025-2016-8" target="_blank">Terrafugia</a>, which is building a hybrid car that can drive on the road and also fly.</p><p>But&#xa0;<span>A³</span>, along with Uber and what we know of Zee.Aero, isn't focused on the car portion of a flying car. All three&#xa0;are working on VTOL aircrafts, which is short for&#xa0;Vertical Take-Off and Landing. That means the aircrafts don't need a runway to ascend, similar to a helicopter.</p><p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div><p>Zach Lovering, who oversees Project Vahana, said it plans to have the production version of its VTOL aircraft&#xa0;ready in four years.&#xa0;</p><p>The Project Vahana aircraft will be an electric, single-passenger VTOL plane with eight rotors. Lovering told Business Insider it will have a range "on the order of a city size, the diameter of a city," but declined to provide a specific number. It will have a speed "twice as fast as cars" and will achieve an altitude of around 1,000 feet, according to Lovering.</p><p>The aircraft will be fully&#xa0;self-piloted.</p><p>"The way I would think about it is somewhat like a train... which means before it takes off it has a known flight path it's going on." Lovering said.</p><p>He said the aircraft will be equipped with lidar, radar, and cameras - the same technology used on many self-driving cars - so it can safely deviate from its flight path if an obstacle gets in its way.</p><p>Lovering joined Project Vahana in February after spending four years working for Page's Zee.Aero.</p><p>"There's a much bigger focus here on actual productization and getting this thing out there, rather than focusing on developing really cool technology," Lovering said of his decision to leave Zee.Aero.</p><p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>But why pursue a VTOL aircraft?<p>Lovering said he can see many uses for these types of transport systems, but that Project Vahana is primarily going after the commuter market.</p><p>Lovering said he wants to create a ride-hailing experience that's "something like Uber has." Here's how he sees it playing out: the vehicles will&#xa0;have home bases on the top of buildings, such as large parking structures. Users will put where they are and where they want to go into a Project Vahana app, which will then direct them to the nearest depot with the aircrafts.</p><p>"You either take an Uber there or walk there, depending on how far away it is," Lovering said.</p><p>Once a user gets in the VTOL aircraft, pre-flight checks would commence. Lovering said relevant information about the flight will be displayed on the app, and there may even be a screen inside the aircraft that could "hook up to your phone, just as a casting device." None of these details have been finalized, but speak to the ride-hailing interface Lovering hopes to create.</p><p>Uber is also looking to use the VTOL aircraft for commuter purposes as part of its project dubbed <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/uber-elevate-flying-cars-2016-10" target="_blank">Uber Elevate</a>. Uber is planning to have its&#xa0;first vehicles ready by 2021, just one year after Project Vahana plans to finish its&#xa0;aircrafts. Uber has said its official roll-out date will occur in 2026.</p><p>Lovering added that Project Vahana's aircrafts could also be used to transport cargo from from facilities to distribution centers. They could also be used to deploy emergency medical stations in disaster&#xa0;areas.</p><h2>'Huge regulatory hurdles'</h2><p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div><p>But Project Vahana's vision for its VTOL aircrafts hinge on the FAA granting regulatory approval, and that's a big hurdle considering the FAA has yet to even approve commercial drone use.</p><p>"The regulatory aspects are definitely something difficult to overcome," Lovering said. "Although in our conversations with the FAA, we met with them earlier this year, they were very receptive to us."</p><p>Lovering said the FAA is moving toward a standard certification process that would expedite the process for approving new kinds of vehicles.</p><p>He added that there are organizations working with the FAA to help set these standards, like&#xa0;ASTM International, a volunteer organization that helps develop international standards; the Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics, a volunteer organization that develops technical guidance for the industry and is sponsored by the FAA; and GAMA, an aviation industry trade association.</p><p>The FAA did not respond to Business Insider's request for comment.</p><p><div><div style="position:relative;padding-bottom:56%"></div></div></p><p>(<em>Above: A VTOL aircraft built by <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zW28Mb1YvwY" target="_blank">Lockheed Martin</a></em>.)</p><p>"It seemed like there were some clear paths forward for the regulatory environment as long as you have a pretty well-defined mission," Lovering said of his conversation with the FAA earlier this year.</p><p>But there are other hurdles beyond tackling the difficult regulatory environment.</p><p>Lovering said&#xa0;<span>A³</span> needs to figure out how to build an "air infrastructure" so the aircrafts can fly safely. The group also needs to set up charging stations at landing sites since the aircraft will be electric.</p><p>Lovering said it will be important to partner with other companies working on VTOL aircrafts to work out these challenges. He said he could see&#xa0;<span>A³ working with Uber down the road for that very reason.</span></p><p>"There are just huge regulatory hurdles, air traffic management hurdles, structural hurdles," he said. Airbus is building autonomous air taxis to become the Uber of the skies

<br /> With the increasing competition between the cab service providers in the country, it has become extremely important for them to continue raising cash to stay ahead of their rivals. And perhaps this is what <keyword id="205081" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Meru">Meru</keyword> Cabs realised. The Mumbai-headquartered taxi service is in advanced talks with hedge funds <keyword id="2200131" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Valiant-Capital-Partners">Valiant Capital Partners</keyword> and <keyword id="4675626" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Falcon-Edge-Capital">Falcon Edge Capital</keyword> to raise Rs 627 crore ($100 million), as The Economic Times report.<br />
<br /> The amount raised by Meru will help the India's oldest radio taxi operator to maintain a stronghold in the fight with it’s competitors like Tiger Global-backed <keyword id="6354720" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ola">Ola</keyword> and San Francisco-based <keyword id="1042120" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Uber">Uber</keyword>.<br />

Earlier this week, Meru raised $50 million (Rs 300 crore) from existing investor India Value Fund Advisors (IVFA) in order to finance its expansion plan to operate in 40 cities.<br />

Meru CEO Siddhartha Pahwa said, "We are talking to a new set of investors including Hong Kong and US-based hedge funds to raise $100 million at a valuation of $350 million," said Meru CEO Siddhartha Pahwa.<br />

Besides, Meru, which began operations in 2007, is also associating with regional radio taxi operators on a revenue-share basis to expand its fleet at a faster pace. Currently, it has a fleet of more than 50,000 taxis.<br />

Though we realise that banning cabs and taxis is not the permanent solution to arrest the case of rapes happening all across India, but it is shocking to see that the company of such repute flouts rules to this extend.<br />

The Air Force is also noting the lack of transponders on many civilian aircraft, which means they don't always get picked up by radar.</p><p>Almost all US aircraft at Lakenheath use ultra high-frequency (UHF) radios, the Air Force <a href="http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-suffolk-42063835" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>, while civilian aircraft use very high-frequency (VHF) radios, meaning Air Force aircraft cannot always hear their civilian counterparts while in the air.</p><p>A Mid-Air Collision Avoidance <a href="http://www.mildenhall.af.mil/Portals/9/documents/safety/AFD-100504-046.pdf?ver=2016-04-21-082909-180" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reference sheet</a> for Air Force pilots at Lakenheath and sister base Mildenhall reminds pilots that "most air misses occur during good ... weather conditions and during hours of daylight" and to "Avoid congested and/or training areas as much as possible."</p><p>The sheet also advises pilots that, prior to flight, they should, "Be familiar with and exercise caution in areas where you may expect to find a high volume of traffic" and, "Ensure your windscreen is clean."</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>US Air Force photo/Rank Name</span></p><p class="caption">An F-35 Lightning II from the 34th Fighter Squadron at Hill Air Force Base, Utah, taxis in at Royal Air Force Lakenheath, England, April 15, 2017.</p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>While in flight, the sheet directs pilots to perform "gentle banks" to the left and right during climbs and descents in order to maintain visual scanning and to do clearing procedures before all turns or unusual maneuvers. "Scan, scan, and scan," the sheet concludes.</p><p>Over the past five years, the UK Airprox Board has recorded more than 1,000 near-miss incidents, about 360 of which involved military aircraft from the US or the UK.</p><p>Among the 19 involving US Air Force aircraft was <a href="http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-norfolk-40703042" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a January incident</a> in which a military air-traffic controller, who was distracted by a phone call, misunderstood the flight path of two US F-15 fighter jets, causing confusion during which the jets narrowly avoided colliding with an UK air force tanker.</p><p>One tanker pilot said an F-15 came within about 150 feet of his aircraft before flying past, and the Airprox Board <a href="https://www.militarytimes.com/news/your-air-force/2017/11/27/air-force-tells-pilots-to-clean-windows-to-avoid-collisions-with-british-aircraft/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> the incident had "a serious risk of collision where luck had played a major part."</p><p>In April this year, two F-15s over western England had a close call with a glider, which did not show up on their radar. One of the F-15 pilots spotted the glider in his flight path and turned to avoid it, directing the other F-15 to do the same. Air Force pilots are being told to clean their windows to avoid crashes in the cluttered skies over the UK

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>U.S. Air Force photo/Lt Col Leslie Pratt</span></p></div><p></p></div></div>Breakthrough research from the University of California-San Diego could take the US military one step closer towards having cloaked aircraft and drones.</p><p>Researchers Li Yi Hsu, Thomas Lepetit, and Boubacar Kante have <a href="http://www.jpier.org/PIER/pier152/03.15032005.pdf">succeeded in creating</a> an ultra thin "dielectric metasurface cloak," which is composed of a multitude of ceramic cylinders embedded into a layer of Teflon.</p><p>Like an invisibility cloak, this coating could mask objects from visible light and radio wavelengths, the Army Times <a href="http://www.armytimes.com/story/military/tech/2015/09/20/breaktrough-cloaking-technology-has-militarys-attention/71960974/">notes</a>, and the military is paying attention.</p><p>"I am very excited about this work," Kante told the Army Times.</p><p> </p><p>The cloak functions by either absorbing or directing electromagnetic waves away from an object. This, in turn, effectively masks the object making it 'invisible.' While experiments in 2006 first <a href="http://www.armytimes.com/story/military/tech/2015/09/20/breaktrough-cloaking-technology-has-militarys-attention/71960974/">showcased</a> a limited degree of invisibility cloaking, the new breakthrough has two main advantages over older methods. </p><p>First, Kante told the Army Times, the new material his team discovered uses ceramics rather than metal particles making the material easier and cheaper to manufacture. Second, the method of using ceramics and Teflon allows the cloak to be effective with coating layers as thin as millimeters. </p><p class="p1">"Previous cloaking studies needed many layers of materials to hide an object, the cloak ended up being much thicker than the size of the object being covered," Hsu <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2015/09/21/predator-drones-invisibility-cloak/">said</a> in a statement. "In this study, we show that we can use a thin single-layer sheet for cloaking."</p><p>These advantages make a world of difference in real world applications, which is why the military has taken a keen interest in the new cloak. Whereas older cloaking technology would have required 30cm of Teflon coating to mask a Predator drone from a surveillance system, the new cloaking technology could hide the same drone from the same radar with only 3mm of coating, the Washington Post <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/checkpoint/wp/2015/09/21/this-is-how-the-u-s-military-might-use-an-invisibility-cloak/">reports</a>. </p><p>This suddenly takes the idea of cloaking away from the realm of sci-fi and moves it firmly towards real world applications. The aircraft are assigned to the 432nd Wing, which trains pilots, sensor operators and other remotely piloted aircraft crewmembers, and conducts combat surveillance and attack operations worldwide.</p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>"If anything this could provide the military with air superiority," Matola told the Army Times. </p><p class="p1">And although the technology is still in its nascent stages, Matola estimates that due to the ease of manufacturing the coating from ceramics and Teflon, full scale production and utilization of the technology could occur within the next decade. </p><p>"There's no fundamental roadblocks," Kante told the Army Times. "It would be easy to manufacture."</p><p class="p1"> </p><p class="p1">However, despite Matola's optimism, there are still fundamental issues associated with the technology. The cloak can only be used to block one potential wavelength at a time currently, Endgadget <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2015/09/21/predator-drones-invisibility-cloak/">reports</a>, drastically limiting the current applicability of the current cloak. </p><p class="p1">Additionally, the cloak only blocks wavelengths that hit the target within a six degree range of a 45 degree angle. Beyond that range any item covered in the cloak would still be fully visible. Researchers unveiled cloaking technology that the US military has been waiting for

<p><span>The Kremlin and the renegade publisher haven't overtly coordinated moves in regards to Snowden, but they certainly haven't been working against each other. </span></p>
<p><span><span>And the two had a shared history before Snowden arrived in Moscow.</span></span></p>
<p><span><span>Here are a few notable details from a </span><a href="http://joshuafoust.com/a-timeline-of-edward-snowden-associates/">tentative timeline</a><span> of Edward Snowden and his associates created by former senior U.S. intelligence analyst <a href="https://twitter.com/joshuafoust">Joshua Foust</a>:</span></span></p>

<li><strong>April 17, 2012:</strong><span> Government-funded Russian TV station RT gives [WikiLeaks founder] Julian Assange </span><a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/18/arts/television/julian-assange-starts-talk-show-on-russian-tv.html">his own talk show</a><span>.</span></li>
<li><span><strong>June 23, 2013:</strong><em><strong> </strong>Izvestia</em><span>, a state-owned Russian newspaper, </span><a href="http://izvestia.ru/news/552478">writes</a><span> that the Kremlin and its intelligence services collaborated with Wikileaks to help Snowden escape from Hong Kong (Wikileaks </span><a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/06/23/wikileaks-edward-snowden_n_3487256.html">did not mention</a><span> any official involvement in Snowden’s departure from Hong Kong in their press statements).</span></span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.5em;">Ever since the 30-year-old ex-Booz Allen contractor got on a flight from Hong Kong to Moscow, <span>Russia and WikiLeaks have been working parallel to each other.</span></span></p>
<p><span><span><span>On June 23</span>, after the U.S. </span><a href="http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/06/23/ap-source-state-department-revokes-nsa-leaker-snowden-passport/">voided Snowden's passport</a><span> while he was in Hong Kong,</span></span><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.5em;"> WikiLeaks </span><a href="https://twitter.com/wikileaks/status/348724514135347200">tweeted</a><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.5em;"> that the organization "assisted Mr. Snowden's political asylum in a democratic country, travel papers ans [sic] safe exit from Hong Kong." </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.5em;">That was followed by </span><a href="https://twitter.com/wikileaks/status/348732325909102593">the update</a><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.5em;"> that "</span><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.5em;">Mr. Snowden is currently over Russian airspace accompanied by WikiLeaks legal advisors."</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.5em;">It turned out that <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/correa-we-helped-snowden-by-mistake-2013-7">Assange convinced Ecuador's consul</a> in London to provide a <a href="http://s0.uvnimg.com/files/2013/06/13298/xc560-5b4f588.pdf">travel document</a> requesting that authorities allow Snowden to travel to Ecuador "for the purpose of political asylum." </span><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.5em;">The country's president subsequently said the document was "</span><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.5em;">completely invalid."</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.5em;"><span></span></span><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.5em;">When Snowden arrived in Moscow with void travel papers, all signs suggest that Russia's domestic intelligence service (i.e. <a href="http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/203373/Federal-Security-Service-FSB">FSB</a>) took control of him.</span></p>
<p>That day a<span> radio host in Moscow "saw about 20 Russian officials, supposedly </span>FSB<span> agents, in suits, crowding around somebody in a restricted area of the airport," </span><a href="http://www.foreignpolicy.com/articles/2013/06/26/the_no_show">according to Anna Nemtsova of Foreign Policy</a><span>.</span></p>
<p><span><span>WikiLeaks, meanwhile, </span><a href="https://twitter.com/wikileaks/status/349787949644267520">insisted</a><span> that Snowden </span><span>was "not being 'debriefed' by the FSB."</span></span></p>
<p><span></span><div class="image-container" style="width:800px"><div class="image"><p class="source">Google Maps/Business Insider</p></div></div>Nevertheless, Snowden's <a href="http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/353585/snowden-retains-fsb-linked-lawyer-patrick-brennan">FSB-linked</a> Moscow lawyer, Anatoly Kucherena, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/snowdens-moscow-lawyer-nsa-leaker-is-planning-to-live-in-russia-and-get-a-job-2013-7">has been speaking for Snowden</a> ever since Snowden accepted all offers for support and asylum on July 12.</p>
<p>On July 11 WikiLeaks had <a href="https://twitter.com/wikileaks/status/355473631846989824">said</a> that <a href="http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2013/jul/16/gordon-humphrey-email-edward-snowden">Snowden</a> and it had "<span>made sure that he cannot be meaningfully coersed [sic] by either the US or its rivals</span>," even though that <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/snowden-has-classified-intel-in-his-head-2013-7">cannot be guaranteed</a> when Russian intelligence is in play.</p>
<p>On Thursday <span>Kucherena announced that </span><span>Russia has </span><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/snowdens-moscow-lawyer-he-has-been-granted-temporary-asylum-in-russia-and-has-left-airport-2013-8">granted Snowden temporary asylum</a> — giving him "<span>the same rights and freedoms possessed by [Russian] citizens" </span>— and led him to a car that would take him to a "<a href="http://news.yahoo.com/fugitive-snowden-left-secure-location-lawyer-121328662.html">secure location</a>."</p>

They departed from the airport together in a taxi and are headed to a secure, confidential place."</span></span></p>
