The final decision on the remaining 35 seats will be made in a follow-up meeting today between the Haryana core committee and the BJP President. The meeting, which took place at the BJP headquarters, was attended by key leaders including BJP National President JP Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Satya Narayan Jatia, Iqbal Singh Lalpura, K. Laxman, Nayab Singh Saini, Sudha Yadav, Vanathi Srinivasan, Anil Vij, Bhupender Yadav, Biplab Deb, Satish Poonia, Surendra Nagar, and Dharmendra Pradhan. The move aims to prevent undesired delays by streamlining preparations for the assembly elections due in a few months, BJP's Mumbai unit chief <keyword id="6367689" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ashish-Shelar" source="Orion">Ashish Shelar</keyword> told reporters on Sunday. "The core committee (of the state unit) has met in Mumbai to delegate all decision-making powers concerning seat-sharing and the selection of assembly constituencies to Fadnavis," he said. Party observer and Union minister Bhupender Yadav, BJP national secretary Vinod Tawde, Union minister and Mumbai North MP Piyush Goyal also attended the meeting. Of the 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra, the BJP won 104 in 2019. Shelar confirmed finalisation of the "formula for winning, besides the planning and seat-sharing arrangements with the allies". "Fadnavis has been granted full authority in this regard," he said. Leading the list of high-profile candidates is the Chief Minister and <keyword id="20270569" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ysr" source="keywords">YSR</keyword> <keyword id="19895371" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="congress" source="keywords">Congress</keyword> Party (YSRCP) President Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. The son of the former Chief Minister of erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh late Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy will be seeking re-election from the Pulivendula constituency in YSR family's home district Kadapa. Pulivendula has been considered a pocket borough of the YSR family since 1978. He will take on Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy of YSRCP. Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy was elected from Dhone on Congress ticket in 1994. Jayasurya Prakash Reddy's wife K. Sujatha Reddy was also elected from the constituency on the Congress ticket in 2004. Former Chief Minister N. Janardhan Reddy's son N. Ramkumar Reddy will be testing his political fortunes from Venkatagiri Assembly constituency on YSRCP ticket. He is making his electoral debut. Janardhan Reddy contested on the Congress ticket from Venkatagiri in 1989. His wife N. Rajyalakshmi had also been elected twice from here in 1999 and 2004.

Polling in 199 out of 200 assembly constituencies was held on November 25. The election in Sriganganagar's Karanpur seat was postponed due to the death of Congress candidate Gurmeet Singh Koonar. Counting of votes polled in the November 25 assembly elections in Rajasthan got underway at 8 am amid tight security arrangements. A total of 36 counting centres have been set up 199 of the state's 200 assembly constituencies which went to poll. Election to the Sriganganagar's Karanpur seat was postponed due to the death of Congress candidate Gurmeet Singh Koonar. As many as 1,862 candidates are in the fray for 199 seats. While 30 election districts have one counting centre, Jaipur, Jodhpur and Nagaur have two centres each. "All District Election Officers, Police Commissioners and Superintendents of Police have been instructed to strictly follow the security protocol at the counting centre," CEO Gupta said. He said that three-tier security arrangements have been ensured at the counting venue and only those with authorised passes would be able to enter. "Separate counting halls have been made for each assembly seat at the counting centre, where as per the instructions of the Commission, tables have been arranged for counting of postal ballots and EVMs," he said. "I am more focused on issues such as women empowerment and drinking water in my campaign," Rita Chaudhary, who is contesting from Sikar's <keyword id="17028790" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="danta-ramgarh" source="Orion">Danta Ramgarh</keyword> seat, told PTI on Monday. She has been fielded by Haryana-based Jannayak Janta Party. Her husband Virendra Chaudhary is the sitting Congress MLA, which has renominated him. Chaudhary is the son of former Congress state chief and seven-time MLA Narayan Singh. The family has traditionally been with the Congress but it witnessed a political split when Rita Chaudhary joined JJP in August this year, and was made the state president of JJP's women wing. Her expectations to get a ticket from the Congress party in the 2018 assembly elections were dashed as the party chose her husband Virendra. After that, Rita started strengthening her own political base. Rita said people in Danta Ramgarh want change. "Since I have been active among the people, I am confident that I will win this seat in the elections," she said. In the Dholpur assembly seat, interest in the contest between two members of the same family has been compounded by the fact that both the leaders have switched parties. <keyword id="4291541" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="shobharani-kushwah" source="Orion">Shobharani Kushwah</keyword> had won the seat in 2018 as a BJP candidate by defeating Congress's Dr Shivcharan Kushwah. Shobharani, the sister-in-law of Shivcharan, was expelled in June last year by the BJP over cross-voting in Rajya Sabha elections. This time, Congress has offered its ticket to Shobharani while the BJP has fielded Shivcharan. "Relationships and political contests are altogether different aspects and they have their own place. Therefore, during an election battle, we are candidates of our political parties and not 'saali' and 'jija'," she said. Shobharani had won the assembly bypoll in 2017 on a BJP ticket after her husband B L Kushwah, who had won the 2013 assembly election as a BSP candidate, was convicted in a murder case in December 2016. In <keyword id="103147" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="nagaur" source="Orion">Nagaur</keyword> and Khetri seats, uncles are in the election fray against their nieces. Former Congress MP Jyoti Mirdha joined the BJP sometime back and was made the party candidate in Nagaur while the Congress has chosen her uncle Harendra Mirdha as its candidate. Similarly, in the Khetri seat of Jhunjhunu district, Dharampal Gurjar, his brother <keyword id="19483217" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="dataram-gurjar" source="Orion">Dataram Gurjar</keyword> and Dataram's daughter Manisha Gurjar were in the race for a ticket from the BJP. After Dharampal Gurjar was picked by the BJP, Manisha rebelled and joined Congress, which gave her the party ticket from the seat. The November 25 elections have 1875 candidates in the fray - 183 women and 1,692 men.
