Equity market benchmark indices rebounded in early trade on Tuesday amid buying in <keyword id="20557630" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="blue-chip-stocks" source="keywords">blue-chip stocks</keyword> and persistent fund inflows by domestic institutional investors. After falling in the previous trade, the <keyword id="19950208" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="BSE-Sensex" source="keywords">BSE Sensex</keyword> bounced back and climbed 239.33 points to 81,390.60 in early trade. The <keyword id="19950205" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="NSE-Nifty" source="keywords">NSE Nifty</keyword> went up by 72.95 points to 24,854.05. From the 30 Sensex pack, UltraTech Cement, Titan, Infosys, ICICI Bank, Power Grid, Tech Mahindra, Nestle and Bajaj Finserv were among the biggest gainers. Tata Steel, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Tata Motors and NTPC were among the laggards. Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) bought equities worth Rs 3,225.91 crore on Monday, according to exchange data. Markets rebound in early trade amid buying in blue-chip stocks

IT services major HCL Technologies on Monday reported a 10.51% increase in consolidated net profit to ₹4,235 crore in the July-September quarter of FY25, as the company raised the lower band of its growth guidance on the back of better-than-expected performance. Reliance Industries on Monday reported a 5% fall in the July-September quarter net profit as weak oil refining and petrochemical business hurt operational performance. "The sharp cut in Brent crude by 3% is a macro positive for India, but CPI inflation for September coming worse-than-expected at 5.49% is a concern...," said V K Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Financial Services. Soaring vegetable prices pushed the retail inflation rate to a nine-month high of 5.49% in September, according to government data released on Monday. Global oil benchmark Brent crude dropped 2.98% to $75.15 a barrel. In <keyword id="20155107" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Asian-markets" source="keywords">Asian markets</keyword>, Seoul and Tokyo were quoting in the positive territory while Shanghai and Hong Kong traded lower. "Even though FIIs continue to sell, the intensity of their selling has come down reducing the pressure on largecaps," Vijayakumar added. The BSE benchmark Sensex jumped 591.69 points or 0.73% to settle at 81,973.05 on Monday. The Nifty climbed 163.70 points or 0.66% to 25,127.95. "The Nifty continues to show resilience, with bullish momentum supported by positive global market trends and strong Q2 earnings from HCL Tech," Prashanth Tapse, Senior VP (Research), Mehta Equities Ltd, said. Sensex, Nifty climb in early trade on buying in IT, bank stocks

Mumbai: Indian stock markets rallied on Monday after the <keyword id="20032950" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="BJP-led-government" source="keywords">BJP-led government</keyword> secured a majority in the latest state elections in Maharashtra. The <keyword id="20641216" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Nifty-50" source="keywords">Nifty 50</keyword> index gained more than 1.45 per cent or 346.30 points to open at 24,253.55 points, while the BSE <keyword id="19896382" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sensex" source="keywords">Sensex</keyword> index surged 1,076 points or 1.36 percent to open at 80,193.47 points. Experts noted that the election results have an impact on the markets today, and if past trends are followed, the markets may witness some rally amid the return of the BJP in the Maharashtra state elections. <keyword id="20161891" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ajay-Bagga" source="keywords">Ajay Bagga</keyword> Banking and Market Expert stated that "The just concluded elections in Maharashtra, the results of which were declared on November 23rd, will have a positive immediate impact on the stock markets. The landslide win for the BJP lead coalition in the Maharashtra state elections could lead to a short-term boost to the Indian stock markets which have been in a declining mode" He further added "Investors will interpret this mandate as favourable for the capex and infrastructure push that is ongoing in Maharashtra. The beneficiary sectors of this election are industrials, infrastructure, manufacturing, real estate and financials". In the sectoral indices on the National Stock Exchange, <keyword id="20065014" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nifty-Realty" source="keywords">Nifty Realty</keyword> and <keyword id="19941314" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nifty-PSU-Bank" source="keywords">Nifty PSU Bank</keyword> rallied with a surge of more than 2 percent, while other major indices also gained more than 1.5 per cent, including Nifty Metal, Nifty Media, and Nifty Oil &amp; Gas. In the Nifty 50 list, 49 stocks gained during the opening session, while only one stock declined. Shri Finance opened as the top gainer in the Nifty 50. "We are most likely to break the falling 20-day average that lies at 24,030, which will be the first time that'd happen since the record high of 27th September. Foreign Institutional Investors (<keyword id="19950996" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="FIIs" source="keywords">FIIs</keyword>) offloaded equities worth Rs 973.94 crore on Wednesday while Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) were buyers as they bought equities worth Rs 1,778.99 crore, according to exchange data. "There are no immediate near-term triggers that can take the market sharply up or down. Up moves may attract selling by FIIs who are likely to move some more money to China and Hong Kong since these markets are cheap and are witnessing an uptrend now," said V K Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Financial Services. But FII selling is unlikely to push the market down significantly since the ample domestic liquidity can easily absorb such selling, Vijayakumar said. Global oil benchmark Brent crude declined 1.80 per cent to USD 72.14 a barrel. The BSE benchmark climbed 255.83 points or 0.30 per cent to settle at an all-time high of 85,169.87 on Wednesday. The Nifty climbed 63.75 points or 0.25 per cent to close at a record high of 26,004.15. Markets on a roll: Sensex, Nifty hit fresh highs tracking rally in Asian peers

Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) bought equities worth Rs 1,029.25 crore on Tuesday, according to exchange data. Global oil benchmark Brent crude declined 0.14 % to USD 73.65 a barrel. Osho Krishan, Senior Analyst - Technical &amp; Derivatives, Angel One Ltd, noted that the weakness in the global bourses led to a gap-down start for our markets, breaking the 14-day winning streak for Nifty. However, post the opening bell, the bulls showed resilience and gradually led the index to higher ground, paring down some of the losses with a modest recovery. Eventually, the Nifty50 index settled the day a tad below the 25200 level, with a cut of 0.32 percent after a very long haul. "The recent fall could be seen as a breather with no alterations to the ongoing trend. Furthermore, the unwavering strength of the Bulls demonstrated throughout the session reflects the positive sentiment in the domestic market. From a technical standpoint, the pullback post the setback construes a positive scenario, with strong support being seen around the 25,100-25,080 spot zone for Nifty, followed by the sacrosanct support of the 25,000 mark in the comparable period. On the higher end, the highs of 25,300-25,350 is now expected to be seen as a resistance and an authoritative breach could only open the next leg of the rally towards 25,400-25,500", he said. "Going ahead, it is crucial to stay vigilant about global developments, as they can significantly impact the intermediate trend for our markets. While our domestic market shows strength, it is essential to proceed thoughtfully, adopt a practical approach, and focus on selective stock choices for superior performance", Krishan continued. Mr. Ajit Mishra – SVP, Research, Religare Broking Ltd highlighted that selective buying in heavyweight stocks helped trim the losses as the session progressed, with the index eventually closing at 25,198, down by 0.3%. Sector-wise, the trend was mixed; pharma, realty, and FMCG sectors saw gains, while IT and metal sectors faced profit-taking. "This move indicates that the bulls are still holding their ground, though consolidation could occur if global pressures intensify. We recommend maintaining a focus on stock selection and trade management, with the support zone for Nifty remaining strong at 24,850-25,000", he said.

Nifty halts 14-day rally; Sensex drops over 200 points tracking weak global markets

New Delhi: Asian <keyword id="19900617" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="stock-markets" source="keywords">stock markets</keyword> on Monday plummeted early as selling pressure mounted after lower-than-expected US payroll growth and the Fed meeting date coming. The Japanese and Hong Kong markets faced high selling pressure, with major indices declining by more than 1.50 per cent. Japan's Nikkei 225 index declined by 1.84 per cent or 632 points, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng was down by 1.73 per cent or 301 points at the time of filing this report. According to experts, concerns of a slowdown in China and Germany have added fuel to the selling in stocks, which were already volatile due to <keyword id="19913707" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Fed-rate-cut" source="keywords">Fed rate cut</keyword> expectations. "Eight days of volatility are assured for the markets as the Fed rate cut of September 18 comes within striking distance. The seasonality of poor September performance of markets is playing out as per expectations. On top of that, the slowdown in China and Germany is adding to global growth worries. The news of a top German car manufacturer mulling closing down car factories in Germany was symbolic of all that is troubling Germany," said Ajay Bagga, Banking and Market expert. Taiwan's markets also bled, with the country's major index, Taiwan Weighted, declining by more than 2 per cent. South Korea's KOSPI index plummeted by 1.15 per cent. Overall, a selling sentiment was witnessed among investors in the <keyword id="20155107" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Asian-markets" source="keywords">Asian markets</keyword>. However, experts also noted that the impact of the other Asian markets will be less on Indian stocks because of the high buying by domestic investors, but some volatility can be expected. Bagga added, "For Indian markets, the impact is coming via FII selling. The good news is that despite the net FII outflows of over Rs 5.5 lakh crore from Jan 2022 to August 2024, the Rs 11 lakh crore plus of robust domestic inflows have meant every dip has been bought into in the Indian markets. We expect a couple of weeks of this volatility, but don't expect sharp cuts in the Indian markets given the domestic liquidity sitting on the sidelines." Indian stock indices took a sharp hit on Friday, the last trading day of the current week, with all sectoral indices closing deep in the red. The sell-off was broad-based, with the banking and energy sectors taking the biggest hit. Nifty 50 dropped 292.95 points, or 1.17 per cent, to 24,852.15, while the BSE Sensex fell 1,017.23 points, or 1.24 per cent, to 81,183.93. "The recent weakness in U.S. markets has stalled the momentum in Indian markets, causing participants to become cautious ahead of the upcoming jobs data," said Ajit Mishra, SVP, Research, Religare Broking. Weakness in global markets and selling by foreign portfolio investors seemed to have hurt domestic market sentiment.

Asian markets decline amid economic slowdown fears, experts say limited impact on India

US elections, Fed meeting, China's meet on stimulus will keep pressure on Indian stocks: Experts

All broad market indices dipped during early trade, about 1% each, with the exception of India VIX, which inched up about 5.57%. Only consumer durables and realty saw shoots of greens during opening trade today, while media dipped over 1%. Shrikant Chouhan, Head Equity Research, Kotak Securities, highlights that "benchmark indices experienced profit booking at higher levels last week. Nifty closed 1.42% down, while Sensex closed 1,260 points lower. The metal index declined by nearly 3%, while healthcare and pharma stocks held positive momentum despite weak market sentiment. The market slipped below the 20-day SMA (simple moving average) during the week but recovered some losses in the second half and eventually closed at 24,367/79,722. "For the week, 23,800/78,000 and 24,500/80,100 are expected to be the major support and resistance levels. Above 24,500/80,100, the market may continue the pullback formation until 24,700/80,600 or even 24,900/81,200. On the other hand, below 24,100/78,600, selling pressure may increase, potentially leading to a drop to the 50-day SMA and 23,800/78,000", he said. "The suggested strategy is to reduce long positions until the market crosses 24,500 levels. Considering trading bets above 24,500 is advisable as there may be a technical breakout that could push the market towards 24,900 levels. Below 23,800, it could fall to 23,300 levels", continued Chouhan.

On Sensex, only 4 scrips ended their day in the green, while 26 others remained in red. "Happy Diwali and Shubh Samvat 2081. We are going into Samvat 2081 with a consensus that markets will be challenged and will mean revert, leading to an underpowered year coming up. Predictions are at best intelligent guesstimates, so we will refrain from that. What is clear is that some countercyclical measures are needed from India, both on the fiscal and monetary front, to tackle the issue of "not as sharp growth in aggregate demand," Ajay Bagga, Banking and Market Expert told ANI. He further added, "The festival season is key to the annual consumption numbers, and the combination of 35 lakh marriages and around Rs 4.5 lakh crores of private consumption expenditure is expected to provide some relief from a slowing growth trajectory.". Cipla (up by 9.5%), LT (up by 6.23%), ONGC (up by 2.04%), Dr. Reddy (up by 1.93%), and Mahindra and Mahindra (up by 1.61%) were among the day's top gainers. HCL Tech, Tech Mahindra, TCS, Asian Paints, and Infosys were the leading laggards on NSE. As for sectoral indices, IT declined by over 3% during the day, while media, pharma, and healthcare inched up by over 1% each. Smallcaps had a gala day on the bourses today, rising by over 1%. Nifty microcaps 250 also jumped by 2.14% today. Hrishikesh Yedve, AVP Technical, and Derivatives Research at Asit C. Mehta Investment Intermediates Ltd, said that “Nifty opened flat and traded within a narrow range, ending the day with a negative close at 24,205. Notably, the <keyword id="19908884" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="smallcap" source="keywords">Smallcap</keyword> 100 index outperformed the benchmark, gaining about 1.15%. Meanwhile, <keyword id="20110975" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="india-vix" source="keywords">INDIA VIX</keyword>, which initially surged around 4%, settled up by 0.35% at 15.57, indicating a slight cooling of volatility.". Hefty selling by <keyword id="19950996" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="FIIs" source="keywords">FIIs</keyword> continued well into the last day of the month, with foreign investors selling stocks worth Rs 4,613.65 crore on Wednesday. So far this month, FIIs have offloaded a staggering Rs 1,08,632.59 crore worth of stocks in <keyword id="19991358" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-markets" source="keywords">Indian markets</keyword>. DIIs, on the other hand, purchased Rs 1,03,740.09 crore worth of stocks during the month. Rajesh Bhosale, Equity Technical Analyst, Angel One, explained that as October concluded, it marked a challenging month for bulls, erasing gains accumulated over the past two months, with Nifty dropping more than 6%, one of the steepest monthly declines in recent times, which has impacted the monthly chart's structure. "Throughout the week, the 24,100–24,000 zone provided some support due to oversold conditions, but the index faced persistent resistance on attempted rebounds. Despite multiple efforts, prices couldn’t surpass the 24,500 level. A strong close above this range is needed before considering aggressive positions, as the market seems poised for a phase of high volatility, he continued. "The banking sector, which has shown relative strength but stalled at key levels, will be crucial in determining the market’s next move. Traders should keep a close eye on this sector for guidance. Notably, the week saw improved market breadth with several individual stocks posting notable gains. However, a selective approach remains essential in this volatile environment", continued Bhosale. The immediate focus is on the core personal consumption expenditures (PCE) data due later in the day to assess the Fed's policy stance ahead of the next rate decision on Nov 7. Traders see a nearly 95% chance of a quarter-basis-point Fed rate cut next week, the CME FedWatch tool showed.
