"Most ministries were interested in anchoring the programme and were acting in silos," said the official. The proposal was led by IITM professor <keyword id="211460" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ashok-Jhunjhunwala">Ashok Jhunjhunwala</keyword>, and includes promotion of selling two-wheelers, three-wheelers and city buses without batteries in order to make them more affordable. Government would be providing the batteries on lease at a specified cost, which would be swapped with recharged ones at charging stations, another official said. "A number of fast-charging stations are planned to be put up for cars, as swapping model is not being considered viable given their design," the official added. However, Roy thinks Zee shares going back to ₹600 apiece currently looks difficult as volatility continues, while valuation re-rating will happen and shares will go beyond the target price of ₹343. He expects further improvement in market share for Zee next quarter onwards. Karan Taurani, senior vice president-research analyst, Elara Securities said that if the new management does come in, we do see a re-rating trigger here, which means stock price would rise. “Looking at the peer comparison in terms of growth and valuations, Zee as a company has not done that bad. The performance metrics have deteriorated in the last two and a half to three years because they would always outperform the industry growth rate but now, they are coming almost at par with the industry growth rate,” said Taurani. Analyst Jaykumar Doshi at Kotak Institutional Equities has upgraded the stock to BUY (from REDUCE). “Zee’s valuations have been constrained by governance concerns and structural risks. The IVR gives advisory in real-time, if the user should take any precautions based on the travel history, symptoms and other personal information shared. The initiative was launched as a part of the Aarogya Setu app. “Close to 65% of mobile phone users in the country use feature phones. Especially for those sitting in villages who are feeling unwell or possibly infected, it becomes difficult to reach out or report cases if help is limited to smart phone technology. This initiative aims to fill this gap,” Ashok Jhunjhunwala, Head at the IIT-M Incubation Cell <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/chennai/tamil-nadu-govt-iit-madras-launch-ivrs-to-collect-covid-19-data-from-non-smartphone-users/articleshow/75067052.cms">told</a> The Times of India. The faculty staff at the institute also developed a touchless portable sanitizer dispenser that can be installed in public places to contain Coronavirus. Meanwhile, AirOk Technologies, which is an IIT-M incubated startup has developed 25,000 masks and protective gear for medical professionals. Another startup Ubifly Technologies deployed drones for delivery of drugs and medicines. A med-tech startup incubated at IIT-M also developed a smartphone-based portable ventilator with a humidifier. In fact, the researchers at <keyword id="6356755" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="iit-madras">IIT Madras</keyword> are currently engaged in nearly five active projects aiming to develop testing kits for Covid-19. The institute has even proposed to set up a testing facility. Across IITs, as many as 202 active research projects are underway to tackle Covid-19. At IIT Roorkee, Hyderabad and Kharagpur campuses, research students also made their own sanitizers. While IIT Delhi researchers developed ‘cheaper’ test kits to trim the cost of diagnosis. IIT Madras startups are developing smart bins, touchless dispensers and portable ventilators to tackle Coronavirus

<ul><li>India is moving towards digitizing classroom learning across the country </li><li>The initiative will come into implementation from next academic session — 2019-2020. </li><li>It will focus on several domains including technology, mathematics, science and engineering. </li></ul>In line with its ‘Digital India’ development agenda, the Indian government is reportedly planning to invest heavily in modernising classrooms in India. On Wednesday, the Indian government <a href="https://www.livemint.com/news/india/centre-launches-9-000-crore-plan-to-digitize-education-delivery-1550683075713.html">launched</a> an initiative to bring digital boards as part of a broader digital initiative, promising an investment of ₹90 billion in state-run schools and colleges. Starting next academic year — 2019- 2020 — the initiative will be implemented over three years and cover over 150,000 schools for classes 9th to 12th and “thousands of colleges” across the country, India’s Human Resource Minister Prakash Javedekar reportedly said. "Some 60-70 years back there was an 'Operation Blackboard' because that was the need of the hour then. But the country has progressed over the years, and now we need an Operation Digital Blackboard," IANS reported citing Prakash Javadekar. Its use will initially extend to subjects including focus on technology, mathematics, engineering and science. Overall, the move is aimed at making learning more interactive. Digital boards have been successfully used by many business schools. With analytics emerging as the hottest sector under technology, the initiative will include domains such as machine learning, analytics and artificial intelligence. The overall cost will be shared by both states and centre in a 60:40 ratio, with the centre spending most on the initiative. However, the expenses on colleges and schools will be funded by University Grants Commission (UGC) through loans, <a href="http://education-delivery-1550683075713.html">said</a> the Livemint report. Last year, the ministry had formed a committee under Professor Ashok Jhunjhunwala of IIT Madras to look into the need of digital blackboards in schools/colleges. (With IANS)

From blackboards to digital boards: India infuses ₹90 billion to modernise classrooms

The Indian government is now planning to provide much-needed help to technology <keyword id="679906" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="incubation-centres">incubation centres</keyword> that help <keyword id="6362513" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Startups">startups</keyword> in setting up businesses. 
 
Nearly 500 companies are getting seeded every year in about 200 incubators around the country. 
 
The department of science and technology, which manages 100 incubators, had spent Rs 40 crore last year them. 
 
Academicians are pinning hopes that the increase in incubators will have a huge impact. 
 
"If we get enough number of companies from the incubators, India will be different ten years from now,” IIT Madras professor Ashok Jhunjhunwala told ET. 
 
In an effort to increase the incubation centres, the department of science and technology and the department of biotechnology are enhancing this program. 
 
They will start funding the companies and the science and technology department is mulling to start 25 new business incubators every year. 
 
It will also come up with new scheme for grassroots innovation by starting challenges in five lakh schools, to imbibe innovation in schools. 
ET reported that Jhunjhunwala has been closely involved in incubation at the IIT Madras incubation centres, which has so far formally incubated 99 companies in three incubators in its research park. 
 
At IIT Bombay, the Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SINE) has incubated 78 companies. 
 
"The more science there is in a startup, the richer the ecosystem needs to be. Startups need depth of expertise in many areas, and founders usually do not have all the technical knowledge. They need equipment hard to find except in a government lab, but the equipment in labs are not available easily to outsiders. Startups also need help with intellectual property strategy," V Premnath, director of NCL Venture Centre told ET. 
 
Incubators have played a crucial role in expanding Indian economy.
