<ul><li><keyword id="790242" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="whatsapp" source="Orion">WhatsApp</keyword> in its latest monthly user safety report highlights action taken during the month of November last year.</li><li>It banned a total of 1,759,000 accounts during this period.</li><li>WhatsApp also shared the various reports it received through grievances from users.</li></ul>WhatsApp has published its latest monthly grievance report on the actions it took based on complaints and reports by users in India. This is the sixth monthly report submitted by <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/tech/apps/news/whatsapp-features-expected-in-2022/articleshow/88610169.cms">WhatsApp</a> following India’s new IT rules that came into effect from May 2021 onwards. The latest report is about action taken during the period between 1 November, 2021 and 30 November, 2021. According to the report, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/business/news/twitter-suspended-34000-accounts-in-october-while-whatsapp-banned-2-million/articleshow/88043485.cms">WhatsApp banned </a>a total of 1,759,000 accounts during this period. This count is less than the previous months of September and October last year during which WhatsApp banned over 2 million accounts. These accounts are banned through WhatsApp’s abuse detection process and also through the in-app reporting system. WhatsApp also shared reports it received through <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/tech/enterprise/news/whatsapps-grievance-officer-quits-within-six-months-and-facebook-is-looking-for-a-replacement/articleshow/88049265.cms">grievances from users</a>. WhatsApp takes into account the grievances received from users who can either email or send a post of their complaints. A total of 357 ban appeals were made and out of which WhatsApp took action on 36 accounts. WhatsApp also received 147 account support reports, 48 product support reports, and 27 safety reports but not one action was taken against these complaints. WhatsApp denotes not taking action as “N/A” in its report and highlights that in some cases there could be duplicated tickets, reassignment of tickets, or advising users to take actions through in-app reporting. WhatsApp also received 21 ‘other support’ reports which it says are requests that are not consistently classifiable. <keyword id="6354868" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="UK" source="Orion">UK</keyword> Ministers are keen to ease immigration restrictions in a bid to make it easier for thousands of Indian citizens to live and work in the country as part of the forthcoming trade talks, the Guardian reported. The potential offer will be under discussion when International Trade Secretary, Anne-Marie Trevelyan travels to Delhi this month, reports the Times UK. Relaxing <keyword id="161725" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="immigration-rules" source="Orion">immigration rules</keyword> for Indian citizens is a key demand from Delhi. Trevelyan is said to have the backing of the foreign secretary, Liz Truss, who is keen to curb China's growing influence in the region. However, they are likely to meet strong resistance from Some <keyword id="12863595" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Secretary-Priti-Patel" source="Orion">Secretary Priti Patel</keyword>, who opposes the offer. According to the Times UK, visa relaxation options under consideration include a scheme similar to one agreed with Australia which would allow young Indians the right to live and work in the UK for up to three years. Another would be to cut visa fees for students and allow them to stay in Britain for a period of time after they graduate. Visa fees for work and tourism, which can cost up to 1,400 pounds, could also be reduced as a sweetener. UK Ministers believe a trade deal with Delhi would provide British businesses with a head start in what is predicted to be the world's third-largest economy by 2050. It could also see Britain jump ahead as India does not have bilateral trade deals with either the US or the European Union. Ministers are said to be in agreement that a "generous" offer on visas could be the price for such a deal. One government figure told the Times: "The tech and digital space in India is still hugely protectionist and if we could open up even a slither of access it would put us ahead of the game."
