With persistent use of AI, the line between truth and lies will become blurred." Reflecting on NSE's origins, Chauhan noted, "NSE came into being on 3 November 1994, on Diwali, so today marks 30 years of NSE. Additionally, a new NSE mobile app for Android and iOS has been launched, providing users with market updates and tools to make informed decisions on the go. Key features of the app's initial release include an overview of indices, market snapshots, market trends, and turnover; quick summaries of Nifty 50's top gainers, losers, and most active stocks, along with a convenient stock search and personalized watchlist feature; a specialized option chain section for easy access to options trading data, including active calls, puts, and open interest, providing investors with insights for informed decisions. Chauhan said, "People often spread rumours and tips on trading. All information required by information from a trusted source will be provided by NSE. Today, we have launched NSE India websites in 8 languages, with 4 languages provided earlier, making it a total of 12 languages now. Android and ioS mobile apps have also been launched by the NSE." NSE MD warns against AI-driven trading, launches a new mobile app

On Friday, <keyword id="19901201" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sebi" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Sebi" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Sebi">SEBI</keyword> chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch said the capital markets regulator is working on a mechanism to expedite <keyword id="22641553" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="IPO-approvals" source="keywords">IPO approvals</keyword>, where companies can simply fill in the blanks in a template to get the go-ahead for IPOs. Separately, SEBI is also developing an <keyword id="20780617" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="artificial-intelligence-tool" source="keywords">artificial intelligence tool</keyword> to check IPO documents being filed by companies for faster approvals, Buch said speaking at the Capam event of <keyword id="20126006" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="FICCI" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="FICCI" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="FICCI">FICCI</keyword>, adding that this tool should be in place by December. Stating that a mystique has been built around the IPO process, like filing of a complex draft red herring prospectus, Buch said the attempt is to demystify the process now. Elaborating on the "demystified <keyword id="21598787" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="offer-document" source="keywords">offer document</keyword>" aspect, Buch said SEBI is working on a process which will have a template where companies can just fill in the blanks to prepare the IPO document. There will be a separate column for articulating any complexities and explaining the variations on a particular aspect, she said. "The document will be precise, meaningful and any variation will be explained separately," she said, adding that the new process will smoothen the processing time and also demystify the process. She, however, did not spell out a timeline for implementation of the plan, or also the process that will be followed in the run up. Apart from this, the regulator is also working on a new process of fundraising for listed companies, which will be a combination of rights issue and a preferential allotment. The overall duration for end-to-end process for getting the go-aheads will nearly halve to 23 days from the present 42 days for preferential issues, which is the fastest route of fundraise, she said. Under the innovation, the watchdog is eliminating the need for getting approval from SEBI and will also do away with the requirement for merchant bankers as the fundraising document will be a simple two-page one listing out the necessary details for investors precisely. Buch said this innovation, which will potentially deprive merchant bankers of the fees, is a homegrown solution and the idea has not come from the industry. SEBI will be bringing a consultation paper on this idea before moving ahead with the proposal, she said, adding that the process will be cost-effective and faster. Buch said making the IPO process faster has been a key objective for her, and pointed that there are eight applications which have exceeded the three month threshold at present due to lack of necessary regulatory approvals, judicial interventions and some non-compliances. She also said that SEBI has taken an approach where it prefers to return documents when it discovers things like conflict of interest at merchant bankers' ends, directors being accused of fraud, objects of issue not being clear or it being simply incomplete. "We return the documents to unclutter the path, so that the genuine applications are not delayed," she added. The new system of demystified offer document will help the young companies in its listing process, Buch said, adding that SEBI is also working on rationalising the disclosures to be made by a loss-making company in its listing. The possible solutions will be out in a month, she said, adding that the solutions are being found courtesy the deliberations at the Industry Standard Forum (ISF). The SEBI management will also be taking the ISF to its board with the intent of formalising it, she said. The board will also be seen deliberating on a proposal to streamline the ongoing disclosures to be made under the listing obligation and disclosure requirements (LODR) framework, which have been formulated in consultation with the industry. To help the errant companies who are in violation of securities laws, the regulator has also put in place a settlement amount calculator on its website, she said. It is also working on a benchmarking agency which will help compare the performance of infrastructure investment trusts and real estate infrastructure trusts, she said. Buch also urged the market ecosystem to swiftly adopt solutions offered by regulatory technology companies, adding that this is necessary because the regulator is adopting supervisory technology (SupTech) solutions at a fast pace. Speaking at the same event, largest equity bourse NSE's chief executive and managing director <keyword id="1173259" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ashish-Kumar-Chauhan" source="Orion">Ashish Kumar Chauhan</keyword> urged small investors to desist from trading in derivatives. He said buying in the morning and selling in the evening should not be confused with "investing", and pitched for right regulations and compliance to it amid the "euphoria". FICCI's president and auto major <keyword id="19967472" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="mahindra" source="keywords">Mahindra</keyword> and Mahindra's chief executive Anish Shah said it is necessary for the private companies to push the pedal on investments for driving economic growth. In a caution to the investor's community, the <keyword id="19938957" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="National-Stock-Exchange" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="National Stock Exchange" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="National Stock Exchange">National Stock Exchange</keyword> said that one Amit Lilhare (PAN: ADFPL4472R), who is an "authorized person" of one of its registered <keyword id="21563800" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="stock-brokers" source="keywords">stock brokers</keyword>, is providing "assured" and "guaranteed" returns on stock market investment. "The <keyword id="19900618" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="investors" source="keywords">investors</keyword> are cautioned and advised not to subscribe to any such scheme or product offered by any person or entity offering indicative, assured, <keyword id="21291316" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="guaranteed-returns" source="keywords">guaranteed returns</keyword> in the stock market as the same is prohibited by law", the exchange noted. In its advisory dated August 1, the stock exchange asserted that the said individual is operating through various addresses -- BL.No.27, Plot No. 22, Second Floor White House, Nehru Nagar, East Bhilai, Durg-490020, Chhattisgarh; and A 2/302, Dream Estate, Handewadi Road, Nr. JSPM College, Hadapsar, Pune-411028, Maharashtra He is also collecting a commission on such assured/guaranteed returns from investors in his personal bank accounts, NSE said. The exchange is in the process of taking disciplinary action against the trading member. "It has been brought to the notice of the Exchange that Mr Amit Lilhare (PAN: ADFPL4472R), Authorised Person of one of our registered Stock Broker, operating through various addresses (mentioned below) is providing assured/guaranteed returns on investment in the stock market and is also collecting a commission on such assured/guaranteed returns from investors in his personal bank accounts," NSE's advisory read. Further, investors are advised not to share their trading credentials such as user id/password with anyone. The exchange has provided a facility of "Know/Locate your Stock Broker" under the link https://www.nseindia.com/invest/find-a-stock-broker on its website, to check the details of the registered member and its <keyword id="22641270" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="authorized-persons" source="keywords">Authorized Persons</keyword>. Further, the designated bank accounts named as client bank accounts to receive/pay money from/to investors as disclosed by the trading members to Exchange are also displayed under the said link. Investors are advised to check the details while dealing with any person/entity. "Participation in such prohibited schemes is at investors' own risk, cost, and consequences as such schemes are neither approved nor endorsed by the Exchange," NSE categorically said in its cautionary advice. In other news, a milestone for NSE, the Nifty 50 index hit the 25,000 mark for the first time during Thursday session, and managed to hold on to the gains. Today, it is, however, a shy below the 25,000 mark. The index hit the 20,000 mark for the first time on September 11, 2023, and took 221 trading days from that level to hit the 25,000 mark on August 1, 2024. "In a way, the last impetus came from the budget of the financial year 2024-25, and now people will be waiting for RBI interest rates declaration or the Fed interest rate declaration, so those are the kind of new triggers. And of course, India is the fastest growing large economy in the world so our own numbers on a quarter basis would also be important to note" NSE MD and CEO Ashish Kumar Chauhan said yesterday, talking to reporters. "So that's where now slowly the market has realized that it's a good budget which is going to improve the growth in the economy, and that's what they are now voting with their money," he added.

A lot of market experts believe that his appointment signals NSE’s ambitions to go public. After he quit NSE in 2000, he worked at various positions at various Reliance group entities like Reliance Infocomm, Reliance Communications and Reliance Industries. Chouhan even worked at Mumbai Indians briefly before joining BSE as its deputy CEO and rising to the position of CEO, in the 12 years that he worked there. The governing board of NSE has appointed an internal executive committee comprising of Yatrik Vin, Group CFO head of corporate affairs; Priya Subbaraman as the chief regulatory officer, and more; to run the affairs in the interim. This committee will be dissolved once the new CEO assumes charge, it said. He further says that most of these IPOs will be initiated by smaller firms that would become tax-compliant due to the levy since they'll no longer have anything to hide. As per Chauhan’s estimates, around 1,000 companies will list on his bourse over the next four years. Most of them think that GST will initially face some issues even though it is widely being projected to boost government revenue and increase the ease of doing business in India. GST effect: 1,000 companies to launch IPOs in 4 years, says BSE chief

A technical glitch led to the shutdown of trading on the <keyword id="43628" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bombay-stock-exchange">Bombay Stock Exchange</keyword> for three hours on Thursday. Trading was stopped at 9.30am and it resumed at 12.35pm after the issue was resolved. 
 Normal trading continued till 3.30pm after this. During this period, the <keyword id="6484188" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sensex">sensex</keyword> almost broke the 26k mark as it hit a new all-time high of 25,999 points. However, it finally settled at 25,824, down by 17 points. 
 An initial investigation into issue revealed that it was a hardware problem. BSE CEO <keyword id="1173259" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ashish-Kumar-Chauhan">Ashish Kumar Chauhan</keyword> said that compared to 8,000 to 10,000 live connections to the server every day, the number fell to about 2,000 at 9.34am forcing the exchange to shut down trading. 
The derivative segment's total turnover fell 74% to Rs 13,395 crore, while the equity segment's turnover fell 67% to Rs 1,430 crore as compared to Wednesday. 
 
This was the second technical glitch to hit the exchange in the last two months. "The number of primary connections had come down to less than 2,000 and hence the market needed to be closed as per current regulations applicable to closure of markets," a release from BSE said. 
 
"This was the first complete network outage in the last four years," Chauhan said. He also said that there was no monetary loss to any member due to the problem.

Technical Hiccup Shuts Down BSE For 3 Hours

New Delhi, Jan 27 () Markets regulator Sebi has reorganised the committee that advises it on matters related to secondary market, including suggesting steps to improve market safety, efficiency and transparency.
 The Secondary Market Advisory Committee is chaired by IIM Ahmedabad Professor and former whole-time member of Sebi, Jayanth R Varma, the latest update with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) showed.
 Besides Varma, the expert panel consists of 15 members, including top executives of the NSE and the BSE as well as government representatives. Earlier, the committee had 19 members.
 Members of the committee include BSE MD and CEO Ashish Kumar Chauhan, NSE chief Vikram Limaye, ICICI Securities MD and CEO Vijay Chandok, Kotak Securities MD Jaideep Hansraj, UTI MF former MD Leo Puri and Edelweiss Group Executive Director and Group COO Himanshu Kaji.
 The committee is mandated to review the developments in secondary market and recommend measures for changes and improvements in market structure in view of the impending changes, look into investor protection measures in the stock exchanges and suggest improvements.
 Moreover, the expert panel also suggests Sebi on measures for reducing the transaction costs, changes if required in the risk management and regulatory framework in secondary market, among others. SP HRS

 This is on top of 17 <keyword id="44779" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="SMEs">SMEs</keyword> already got listed on capital markets with public issues worth Rs. 134 crore in the first five months (April-August) of the ongoing fiscal. 
 
In addition, several companies had launched their initial public offerings (IPOs) last month. 
 Confirming the development, BSE MD and chief executive Ashish Kumar Chauhan said in an event that the total number of <keyword id="6354763" type="EVENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="IPO">IPO</keyword> issues on such platform is expected to be around 100 this fiscal. 
 
These companies are from various sectors including trading, steel, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=manufacturing">manufacturing</a>, textile and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=finance+">finance</a> and are spread across the country. 
In March 2012, BSE and the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=National+Stock+Exchange">National Stock Exchange (NSE</a>) had launched SME platforms, becoming the only two bourses to offer such a segment in the country. 
 
BSE has about 110 companies listed on its SME platform, with a total market capitalisation of over Rs 7,733 crore. This platform has helped the listed SMEs to mobilise over Rs 832 crore. 
 The <keyword id="6354646" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="NSE">NSE</keyword> has 30 companies trading on its SME platform. The platforms provide opportunity to entrepreneurs to raise equity capital for growth and expansion.
