He has said that he will not sit on the CM chair until the people ask again but the chair belongs to Arvind Kejriwal for these and the next 5 years... Indian filmmakers should cut production cost by at least 30%, says Ekta Kapoor

In a bid to revive its fortunes in the country, US-based firm <keyword id="4581" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="general-motors">General Motors</keyword> eyeing to tap the Indian <keyword id="45454" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="SUV">SUV</keyword> market, launched premium SUV <keyword id="55200" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Chevrolet">Chevrolet</keyword> Trailblazer here at Rs 26.40 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Its launch is important for the company as it's the first of the 10 new models that it plans to introduce in India over five years. It had stated that it would roll out 10 models, including <keyword id="3109209" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="SUV-Trailblazer">SUV Trailblazer</keyword> and multi-purpose vehicle Spin in early 2017, from the Chevrolet family in the next five years. Trailblazer, powered by 2.8 litre diesel engine, is imported from Thailand. On the positioning of new model, Managing director of General Motors India <keyword id="103787" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Arvind-Saxena">Arvind Saxena</keyword> said: "This will be a halo brand over other models and also an integral part of our product portfolio. This vehicle reflects the true DNA of Chevrolet." 

	Customers will be able to book the Trailblazer on Amazon.in only from October 21-25, at a reservation deposit of Rs 25,000. Bookings can also be made through Chevrolet dealerships. Customers will receive their SUVs from their local Chevrolet dealership.
 

	The company had announced in July a turnaround plan entailing fresh investment of $1 billion (Rs 6,400 crore) and ceasing production at its Gujarat plant to consolidate manufacturing operations in Maharashtra. 
 

	After the consolidation of the manufacturing operations, the company expects 30 per cent of the production from its Talegaon plant to be exported. 
 

	On company's plans to cease production at Halol plant, Saxena said: "We are in constant touch with the state government and employees. We are on track. Currently we are still producing vehicles at the plant but as we said before, it will stop by the middle of next year." 
 

	As per the company's plans, the Talegaon plant in Maharashtra will be strengthened and become an export hub. The move to close the manufacturing facility at Halol will adversely affect 1,100 employees. The plant has a total annual manufacturing capacity of 1.1 lakh units. 
 

	General Motors India is looking at selling vehicles in 30 countries in the next two years. It has set a target of exporting 40,000 units by 2016. This year it is aiming to export 19,000 units globally, including Chile and Mexico.

General Motors launches SUV Trailblazer in India at Rs 26.40 lakh

As it cuts costs and works towards increasing local content in its cars, <keyword id="80599" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="General-Motors-Co">General Motors Co</keyword> expects to be profitable in <keyword id="3658" type="COUNTRY" weightage="80" keywordseo="India">India</keyword> in five years, the automaker's country head told Reuters. 
 "In the next five years, I should definitely make it to a green balance sheet," GM's India Managing Director, <keyword id="103787" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Arvind-Saxena">Arvind Saxena</keyword>, said in an interview on Wednesday. 
 
Even after two decades in India, GM's sales are falling and it is still losing money. It lost Rs 38.5 billion ($581 million) in India in the year to March, a company filing with the corporate affairs ministry showed. ($1 = 66.2550 Indian rupees)

General Motors expects to be profitable in India in five years

 <keyword id="159682" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Volkswagen-India">Volkswagen India</keyword> announced today that after the statement of the interim budget and cut in excise tax, they too have reduced prices of their line-up of cars. Prices for the Volkswagen Polo have been reduced by Rs 18,000-Rs 31,000, while Vento’s prices have been reduced by Rs 14,500-Rs 27,000. Jetta prices have been reduced by Rs 38,000-Rs 51,000. 
 “We welcome the Government’s decision to reduce <keyword id="6356916" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="40" keywordseo="excise-duty">excise duty</keyword> on cars and we at Volkswagen have decided to pass on the entire benefit to our customers. Volkswagen India Cuts Prices After Excise Reduction By Finance Minister

New <keyword id="66" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="delhi" source="Orion">Delhi</keyword> [India], July 13 (ANI): All <keyword id="6502878" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="delhi-schools" source="Orion">Delhi schools</keyword> and colleges will remain closed till Sunday and government offices, except those providing essential services, will resort to <keyword id="123591" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Work-from-home" source="Orion">work from home</keyword>, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Thursday. Talking to after the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) meeting with Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena on the unprecedented flood situation in the national capital, Kejriwal said, "We had a DDMA meeting. Several important decisions were taken. Schools, colleges &amp; universities will remain closed till Sunday. All government offices, except those providing essential services, will have Work from Home till Sunday. Advisory is being issued for private offices to do the same." CM said that entry of heavy vehicles, except those providing essential services have been banned. "<keyword id="71746" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="water-rationing" source="Orion">Water rationing</keyword> will have to be done as three Water Treatment Plants are shut and people will face water crisis for a day or two. Heavy vehicles, except those providing essential services, that enter Delhi will not be allowed. There were issues of toilets and bathrooms at relief camps. So, the camps are being shifted to schools. There are over 20,000 people in relief camps", Kejriwal told ANI. The CM further told ANI that NDRF teams are deployed and will request for more if the situation demands. "NDRF teams are deployed, if needed we will request more. Also arrangement have been made for more NDRF relief boats. We expect the water to recede by tomorrow", he said. As per NDRF inputs, a total of 12 NDRF teams have been deployed in Delhi which includes three in Central Delhi, three in North-East Delhi, two in South-East Delhi, three in East Delhi and one in Shahdara. Meanwhile, in view of the rising water level of River Yamuna, the Delhi government banned entry of Heavy Good Vehicles from the Singhu Border, Badarpur Border, Loni Border and Chilla Border. Interstate buses from Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Uttarakhand terminating at ISBT Kashmere Gate will terminate at Singhu border. India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday predicted that South-West Delhi and adjoining areas is likely to receive light to moderate intensity rain on Thursday. "Thunderstorms with light to moderate intensity rain would occur over and adjoining areas of isolated places of South-West Delhi, South Delhi (Chhattarpur, IGNOU, Ayanagar, Deramandi) and NCR ( Gurugram, Manesar) , Sikandrabad, Bulandshahar, Khurja, Pahasu (U.P.) during next 2 hours", IMD shared in a tweet. Schools, colleges to remain shut till Sunday, Govt offices will have WFH

New Delhi [India], September 5 (ANI): In a move toward sustainable and eco-friendly urban transportation, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena flagged off 400 new electric buses in Delhi today. With this addition, Delhi now boasts a total of 800 electric buses, making it the city with the highest number of electric buses in India. The Delhi government has placed orders for a total of 1,500 electric buses, out of which 921 buses have received subsidies under the FAME (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles) scheme. The operational cost for these 921 buses over 12 years is estimated at Rs 4,091 crores, with the central government providing Rs 417 crores as FAME subsidies, while the Delhi government bears Rs 3,674 crores. The remaining 579 buses will be fully purchased and operated by the Delhi government, with 90 per cent of the total cost covered by the Delhi government and 10 per cent by the central government as FAME subsidies. Delhi now boasts a fleet size of 7,135 buses, comprising 4,088 buses under the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and 3,047 under DIMTS (Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System). Of these, 800 are electric buses, a significant milestone in the city's efforts to combat air pollution and reduce its carbon footprint. The 800 electric buses are expected to save approximately 45,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually, contributing to a greener and cleaner Delhi. Over their 12-year lifespan, these buses are estimated to save a total of 5.4 lakh tonnes of CO2. By the end of 2023, Delhi aims to increase its <keyword id="8334302" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="electric-bus-fleet" source="Orion">electric bus fleet</keyword> to 1,900, making it one of the cities with the highest number of electric buses globally. Looking further ahead to 2025, Delhi plans to have a total of 10,480 buses, with 80 per cent of the fleet, or 8,280 buses, being electric. This transition is projected to save 4.67 lakh tonnes of CO2 emissions annually, with a lifetime savings of 5.6 million tonnes over 12 years. All Delhi buses are fully equipped with features to ensure passenger comfort and safety. They are designed to be accessible, affordable, sustainable, smart, and safe. These electric buses are designed for differently-abled, low-floor buses with air conditioning, making them accessible to all. They offer free tickets for women passengers and are environmentally friendly, emitting zero smoke and noise. They are also equipped with digital ticketing, GPS, CCTV, panic buttons, and hooters, all connected to a two-way centralized command and control centre. In preparation for this massive electrification of the bus fleet, 70 depots are being electrified to accommodate over 8,000 electric buses by 2025. There are 8 completely electrified and operating depots: Mayapuri, Rohini 1, Nehru Place, Rajghat, Mundela Kalan, Shastri Park and Majlis Park. Currently, eight depots are fully electrified and operational, while others are under development. Delhi expands electric bus fleet: 400 new buses flagged off

<ul><li>As many as 36 people lost their lives in the last 24 hours in Uttar Pradesh, due to lightning, drawing and more. </li><li>Eight people lost their lives in Uttar Pradesh after rains caused landslides, blocked highways and more. </li><li>On Sunday, Delhi recorded its highest rainfall in a single day in July since 1982. </li></ul>North India woke up to incessant <keyword id="6385438" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="heavy-rains" source="Orion">heavy rains</keyword> on Monday, and the central and state governments are taking note of the situation to tackle the situation. Four states – Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Punjab are seeing incessant rains after a late start to the monsoon, leading to thunderstorms, landslides, death and destruction. Lightning, drowning &amp; more claim 26 lives in UP Uttar Pradesh has been one of the worst affected as the extreme heavy downpour has claimed 36 lives in the last 24 hours. According to information from the relief commissioner’s office, 17 people died due to lightning strike, 12 due to drowning, and seven due to heavy rainfall. Rainfall was witnessed in around 68 of the state’s 75 districts, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) data. In the last 24 hours alone, the state received 56% higher than normal or “excess” rainfall -- 13.6 mm against the normal of 8.7 mm, the weather data showed. Avoid travel in Himachal, says MET department The Meteorological Office is predicting heavy to extremely heavy rain on a third consecutive day on Monday in Himachal Pradesh. Rains had already wreaked havoc causing statewide landslides and blocking of highways and link roads and caused the deaths of eight people. The government advised people to avoid travel until it is extremely necessary. “Moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied with thunderstorms is very likely to continue in the districts of Bilaspur, Solan, Shimla, Sirmaur, Una, Hamirpur, Mandi and Kullu,” an official of the Meteorological Office here told IANS. The state government also announced that all schools and colleges will be closed on Monday and Tuesday. According to the state police, traffic in Solan district on the Chandigarh-Shimla national highway is currently running in a single lane due to slides and debris in other lanes. Water enters homes in Haryana, Punjab Many areas in Punjab and Haryana too came under the effect of heavy rains with water logging, traffic snarls and more on Sunday — after rains lashed the states for two consecutive days, Areas like Panchkula, Yamunanagar, Ambala, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Sonipat among other places in Haryana; while Fatehgarh Sahib, Mohali, Rupnagar and Patiala in Punjab received heavy showers, a Met official here said. At some places in the two states, water entered houses causing inconvenience to the people. In Ambala in Haryana, rain water also entered several shops at the wholesale cloth market. Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, continued to receive heavy showers. It has been raining heavily in the Union Territory since Saturday. More rains have been forecast in parts of Haryana and Punjab during the day. Delhi receives highest rainfall in 41 years The capital city also came under the dark clouds. On Sunday, Delhi recorded its highest rainfall in a single day in July since 1982. Added to that, authorities cautioned over rising water levels of the Yamuna, after Haryana released more than one lakh cusecs of water into the Yamuna river from the Hathnikund barrage. An interaction between a Western Disturbance and monsoonal winds is leading to an intense rainfall spell over northwest India, including Delhi, which experienced the season's first "very heavy" rainfall on Saturday. "In view of the torrential rains in the last two days and keeping in mind the warnings of the meteorological department, all schools will remain closed on Monday," Kejriwal said in a tweet in Hindi. NCR is also in trouble, as rain water entered houses in Kota Colony of Gurugram. The administration however came to the rescue of the residents by providing them with food and drinking water. Torrential rains caused waterlogging at many places in Gurugram, and Kota Colony of Badshahpur was submerged in a way. The district Red Cross Society formed a special team after getting to know about the colony. Arvind Kejriwal &amp; Amit Shah swing to action The country’s home minister and Delhi’s chief minister are holding meetings and taking stock of the rain situation. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will hold a meeting at the Delhi Secretariat on Monday to discuss waterlogging caused by torrential rains in the city and Yamuna's rising water levels, officials said. It will be attended by senior officials of the Irrigation and Flood Control department and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday took stock of the situation in the wake of incessant rains as he spoke to the chief ministers of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, and the lieutenant governors of Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir, sources said. The home minister assured them all central help in tackling the arising situation. The sources said Shah spoke to the chief ministers of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh and took updates about losses due to the rains. <keyword id="4581" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="general-motors">General Motors</keyword> India will export the left-hand-drive version of its <keyword id="83732" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Chevrolet-Beat">Chevrolet Beat</keyword> hatchback to Chile in the first quarter of CY2015. 
 The company will begin the production of <keyword id="2258837" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Export-vehicles">export vehicles</keyword> at its <keyword id="2061237" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Talegaon-plant">Talegaon plant</keyword> near Pune after June 2014, it said in a statement. 
 
The compact car Beat is available with petrol and diesel engines. The model was launched in India back in 2010. 
 
The start of Beat exports underlines the company’s commitment to India and demonstrates the quality of the country's growing supplier base, said GM India president and managing director Arvind Saxena. 
 
Exports will also help improve capacity utilisation at the Talegaon plant, he added. 
 
In April, the company’s sales declined 35.30% to 5,302 units as against 8,196 units sold in the corresponding month of the previous year.

​GM India To Export Chevrolet Beat To Chile

Finance Minister <keyword id="42575" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Arun-Jaitley">Arun Jaitley</keyword> has announced that the government would continue with low <keyword id="6356916" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="excise-duty">excise duty</keyword> for automobiles, consumer durables and capital goods sectors till December 31. All these sectors are under stress due to weak sales and slow economic growth. 
 
The duty cuts on small cars, two wheelers and commercial vehicles, large and mid-segment cars and sport utility vehicles (SUV) will continue till December this year. The auto industry has welcomed the government's decision to extend the duty-cut benefits. 
 
The duty cuts, announced by the former finance minister P Chidambaram in February, had provided much-needed relief to the sector that has been facing slowdown for two years. Following the duty cuts, auto companies passed on the benefits to the consumers, making vehicles more affordable. 
 
Since the duty cut was coming to an end on June 30, some automakers were planning to increase the prices of the vehicles. 
 
Vikram Kirloskar, president, Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), said, “We are certain that the extension of the reduced excise duty will contribute positively to improve the buyer sentiment and would help in bringing about a sustained recovery in the automotive industry that has been languishing for over two years now. This will go a long way in bringing back growth, investments in the industry as well as encourage higher employment." 
 Pawan Goenka, executive director, <keyword id="6357096" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Mahindra-Mahindra">Mahindra &amp; Mahindra</keyword>, said, “This will give the much-needed boost to the industry as we lead up to the festive season." 
 
The finance minister will present his first budget on July 10 and the industry has expected the government to maintain the reduced excise duty. “We hope government will extend it for the full year in the upcoming Budget as the sector continues to be sluggish. We also expect the government to announce other measures in the Budget to revive growth," said Arvind Saxena, president and managing director, General Motors. 
 
Similarly, status-quo was maintained on excise duty on consumer durables and capital goods sectors.

Auto, Consumer Durables Welcome Continuation Of Low Excise Duty Till December

After e-tailers and rental car sector, major car manufacturers including <keyword id="44883" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Maruti-Suzuki">Maruti Suzuki</keyword> India, <keyword id="596" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Hyundai">Hyundai</keyword> Motor and <keyword id="42747" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tata-Motors">Tata Motors</keyword> are offering various schemes this festival season, including discounts of up to Rs 37,000 to push up sales. 

	Market leader Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) is offering cash discounts, ranging from Rs 5,000 on its hatchback Celerio to Rs 35,000 on entry level Alto800. 
 

	Besides, the carmaker is giving discounts on other models including Wagon R, Stingray and Dzire but no such offers are on recent launches like Ciaz. 
 

	"Customers are already responding very positively to our current sales promotion schemes and booking is seeing an uptrend. For the forthcoming festive season the excitement has begun," MSI Executive Director (M&amp;S), RS Kalsi told PTI. 
 

	The company has already introduced six festive and limited editions like Alto 800 Onam edition, WagonR Avance, Swift Glory, Alto K10 Urbano, he added. 
 

	"Many more festive models are in pipeline including automatic and SHVS (Hybrid). And of course, we will soon bring the premium hatchback Baleno to the Indian customers. Bookings for Baleno are due to open next week, after we share the information about the car," Kalsi said. 
 

	Rival Hyundai Motor is offering the maximum discount of Rs 37,000 on its entry level model Eon, followed by i10 and Grand i10 (Rs 27,000 each). 
 

	The carmaker is also offering discount of up to Rs 28,000 on compact sedan Xcent and Rs 15,000 off on mid-size sedan Verna. There are no discounts on high selling models i20 and recently launched compact sports utility vehicle Creta. 
 <keyword id="4581" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="general-motors">General Motors</keyword> is offering exchange bonus of Rs 20,000 on Beat and Rs 30,000 exchange bonus on Cruze. It is further giving off on other models like Sail (hatchback and sedan), multi-purpose vehicle Enjoy and Tavera. "This is a great time to purchase <keyword id="55200" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Chevrolet">Chevrolet</keyword> cars, as customers will get the best value for their money along with complete piece of mind giving them a truly satisfying ownership experience," General Motors India, President and Managing Director, Arvind Saxena said. Japanese car maker <keyword id="46283" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Nissan">Nissan</keyword> is also offering discounts adding up to Rs 25,000 on Datsun GO+ for orders booked in the month of October. It is also giving benefit worth Rs 22,000 on Datsun Go. 

	"We are celebrating this festive season by offering special benefits to our customers and an attractively priced Datsun line-up for the Indian customers," Nissan Motor India, Managing Director Arun Malhotra said. 
 

	Another Japanese carmaker Honda is also offering benefits of up to Rs 47,000 on its compact sedan Amaze and multi- purpose vehicle Mobilio. 
 

	In addition, Tata Motors is introducing a special festive season offer under which customers buying Tata cars between October 1 and November 15, stand a chance to win a minimum cash back of Rs 2,000 going up to Rs 50,000. 
 

	The auto major is also looking to launch celebration editions of various models including Bolt, GenX Nano range and Safari Storme, beginning October 13. This range will be on sale till November 15, 2015. 
 

	The company would also introduce Indigo model with special celebration kit and Zest celebration edition as part of the scheme.
