The company is planning on reselling the same under its own brand in the capacity of a mobile virtual network operator (<keyword id="164995" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="MVNO">MVNO</keyword>). 
 <keyword id="6354248" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Videocon">Videocon</keyword> is also planning on applying for an MNVO licence shortly, so it can remain in the mobile services business. The company has, however, declined to name its potential telecom partners but Videocon’s chief executive <keyword id="1074397" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arvind-Bali">Arvind Bali</keyword> said the company is in active discussions with many telecom service providers for buying data at wholesale rates in bulk. 
 
“Telcos, have different business models for MVNOs, and the price primarily depends on volumes, commitment, circle/geography and their own network fill factor in the geography,” Bali told ET. 
 <keyword id="30351" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="BSNL">BSNL</keyword> chairman <keyword id="3697228" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="anupam-shrivastya">Anupam Shrivastya</keyword> has also confirmed that Videocon is in touch with them. 
 
"The MVNO route allows us to remain in the telecom services business since Videocon is a strong B2C brand with a robust sales and distribution team,” said Bali.

Lalbhais is the most rooted business family in Ahmedabad. <keyword id="192475" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kulin-Lalbhai">Kulin Lalbhai</keyword>, who belongs to the family, had a tough time when he decided to move to <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Bengaluru+">Bengaluru </a>for his new venture. He had to go through a series of disapprovals, but the 29-year-old finally moved out with his wife and daughter. 
 Many thought he made this move because he split up with the family, but Kulin disagrees. He says, “It's nothing like that. My family is very dear to me I'm still in Ahmedabad at least once a month. But I realised I need to be in <keyword id="6354321" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bengaluru">Bengaluru</keyword> 90% of the time for this venture. It's a sacrifice for all of us." 
 
He told Economic Times that how his family business always had a major presence in Bengaluru, but the family never felt the need of having someone based over there.

But in its expansion plan, the another creation, Arvind Internet has now started creating an ‘omni-channel’ that combines the group's physical retail presence with eCommerce and the leadership needs here are very different from the garment business. 
 
"The tech business is driven by entrepreneurial energy," says Kulin. 
 
"It's not easy attracting people, putting together a team. You need to be there yourself, to lead them," he added. 
 
It’s not just about Lalbhais, over the past couple of years, most of the ambitious and young enthusiasts have shifted their base to the city.

While Quikr found it hard to attract engineers from Bengaluru to Mumbai, it had no problem at all persuading its existing tech team to move to Bengaluru. Maybe it's the opportunity to work with like-minded people that are reimagining business or maybe it's the weather, but young engineers are all too happy to move to Bengaluru. 
 The city's ecosystem includes venture capitalists (VCs), startup accelerators, social impact funds and an urban market that serves as an experimentation lab. When <keyword id="250677" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vishal-Bali">Vishal Bali</keyword> quit his job as the CEO of <keyword id="735105" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Fortis-Healthcare-International">Fortis Healthcare International</keyword> in Singapore to turn entrepreneur last year, he decided to locate his company, Medwell Ventures, in Bengaluru. He has since bought Nightingales, a local home healthcare company, and is expanding it pan-India. 
 
"Technology will play a major role in healthcare in the future, which is why many new healthcare start-ups are in Bengaluru," he says. "The city is also good for proof of concept. We were able to prove our idea works in Bengaluru. We couldn't have done this if we started in a city like Mumbai, where the cost of learning is high."

 "We are pleased to announce two more initiatives under the Prime Minister's '<keyword id="1929810" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Digital-India">Digital India</keyword>' vision. The first initiative for female subscribers is not only limited to digital connect, but it also supports women empowerment," Videocon Telecommunications Director and CEO <keyword id="1074397" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Arvind-Bali">Arvind Bali</keyword> said today. 
 
 
The company hopes to increase the data penetration among female subscribers with this initiative as the percentage of data users among females is slightly less than males, Videocon said. 
 
Under the second initiative, unlimited access will be given to all its subscribers to government's national web portal, the company said. 
 
Both the benefits will be available to subscribers from July 16. 
 
The company will also be providing a helpline for first time data users to know Internet and data usage on mobile phones. 
 
In support to the 'Digital India' initiative, Videocon had also announced 750 MB of free data for all non-data users, earlier this month.

Videocon Telecom supports women empowerment by offering 1 GB free mobile data to its female subscribers

Indian operator <keyword id="1543410" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Reliance-Jio-Infocomm">Reliance Jio Infocomm</keyword> has inked an agreement to share 500 towers of <keyword id="262458" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Videocon-Telecom">Videocon Telecom</keyword> in Uttar Pradesh(west), Uttar Pradesh(east), <keyword id="30033" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Bihar">Bihar</keyword> and <keyword id="6360371" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Jharkhand">Jharkhand</keyword>. Reliance Jio is planning to launch its high speed data and voice services across the Indian subcontinent. 
 It is important to note that Videocon, a consumer electronics and home appliances company, plans to deploy 6,000 additional towers within a year for rolling out its 4G services, which may also be shared with Reliance Jio in the future, Videocon <keyword id="24973" type="POSITION" weightage="40" keywordseo="managing-director">managing director</keyword> <keyword id="1074397" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Arvind-Bali">Arvind Bali</keyword> was quoted as saying.

Reliance Jio Infocomm Signs Telecom Tower Sharing Deal With Videocon

India currently faces a shortage of 2.41 million skilled workers in the telecom sector in the 5G era, which is forecast to jump by 3.8 times by 2030, a report showed on Friday. The country will require 22 million skilled workers in 5G-focused industries by 2025, in areas such as cloud computing, robots and the Internet of Things (IoT). One of the key challenges is that only 40 per cent of India's graduates in computer science, IT, and math are employable in the technology sector due to the mismatch between academic requirements and industry demands, according to the report by the Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC), launched in association with enterprise decision-making platform Draup at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2023 here. The number of employed talent in the Indian telecom industry is currently 11.59 million, with 2.95 million corporate talent and 8.24 million blue-collar talent. According to the report, India is the only country expected to have a skilled labour surplus, with 1.3 million workers in the technology, media and telecommunications (TMT) sector by 2030. "In anticipation of the upcoming 6G era, our focus remains on aligning our skilling initiatives with cutting-edge technologies, ensuring a workforce ready for the future of telecom," said Atul Tiwari, Secretary, <keyword id="2485309" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="ministry-of-skill-development" source="Orion">Ministry of Skill Development</keyword> and Entrepreneurship. The report, titled '<keyword id="19288877" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="telecom-talent" source="Orion">Telecom Talent</keyword> in 5G Era: Demand Supply Skill Gap Report 2023-24', highlighted that across 15 top streams, network operation and maintenance and project engineering have the most corporate talent, while network operation and maintenance and sales and distribution - service segment have the most blue-collar talent. According to Arvind Bali, CEO, TSSC, the telecom sector is the third-largest industry in India that accounts for roughly 6.5 per cent of all FDI inflow and also by 2027, the country is anticipated to account for 11 per cent of all 5G subscriptions worldwide. "India has a good chance to close the growing demand-supply gap by 2030 with the proper reskilling and hiring strategies that target adjacent talent in tier 2 and 3 cities and university supply," said Bali. With the help of AI, even more powerful 6G network technologies will emerge in the future, the report mentioned.

The talent <keyword id="1761478" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="demand-supply-gap" source="Orion">demand supply gap</keyword> will continue to widen with the advent of 5G and allied technologies rollout, according to the report by the <keyword id="1640349" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Telecom-Sector-Skill-Council" source="Orion">Telecom Sector Skill Council</keyword> (TSSC), as <keyword id="6354814" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Prime-Minister-Narendra-Modi" source="Orion">Prime Minister Narendra Modi</keyword> dedicated an indigenous 5G Test Bed, in the form of 5Gi, to the nation on Tuesday. "A deeper look at the technological changes, along with proper skilling, will prepare the workforce of the future. We hope to address policy issues like low penetration of broadband and the industry needs to proliferate at a CAGR of 30-40 per cent in order to create a phenomenal number of jobs," said <keyword id="12218680" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="K-Rajaraman" source="Orion">K. The telecom council plans to train 1 lakh people in the next three years and open 10 new Centres of Excellence across the country. "With original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) setting shop in India, they will need a plethora of job roles to set up their supply chain. We aim to aid the ecosystem with a world-class skilled workforce for 5G and its allied technologies," said Arvind Bali, CEO, TSSC. TSSC President Akhil Gupta (Vice Chairman, Bharti Group) said that they now plan to accelerate skilling initiatives to international regions and map the international workforce demand. "It is important to train the workforce to use these new technologies in a much more effective fashion. When we talk about jobs in the telecom sector, we should not talk about only the jobs here but how they need some kind of upskilling," added Rajesh Aggarwal, Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. India is witnessing a 28% of talent crunch in the technology area, says report

Along with some other small telecos in India, <keyword id="6354248" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Videocon">Videocon</keyword> Telecom will shut down operations in the Punjab circle from February 15 and this will be an end to its mobile services in the country. The company has also asked its 3 million customers to switch to other operators to ensure continuity of services. 
 
In a notice issued by the company, it said that the prepaid customers should exhaust their balance and subscribers being billed monthly should clear their dues before moving to other carriers. 
 "<keyword id="1849912" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Quadrant-Televentures">Quadrant Televentures</keyword> would be discontinuing mobile services with effect from midnight of February 15, 2017, in Punjab service area,” the unit of the diversified Videocon group said in the notice. 
 
The move will affect about 100 employees in the mobile service business in the state, who are likely to be absorbed in Videocon's other divisions in the state, according to people familiar with the company's plans. Videocon has about 4,000 employees in all its businesses in Punjab. 
 
The company has incurred losses and was not keen to invest further in the business because it was not sure whether the validity of its spectrum holdings in the circle would be extended till 2027, the people said. 
 
CEO Arvind Bali confirmed to ET that it was exiting the spectrum-oriented businesses. 
 
"We're going in non-spectrum businesses because spectrum is expensive. We have started 14 new businesses including surveillance and security, enterprise and broadband, which needs less investment and provides quicker returns,, he said. The company also has bulk SMS and international and national long-distance calling businesses. It is not looking at the mobile virtual network operator model as an option. 
 
Videocon, which got licences and spectrum in 17 circles nationwide in 2008, lost all the permits in 2012 in the 2G spectrum allotment scam. It subsequently bid and won back airwaves in six circles.

<keyword id="6354248" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Videocon">Videocon</keyword> Telecom Ltd (VTL) is selling 5 MHz of 1800 MHz <keyword id="6359803" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="spectrum">spectrum</keyword> each in UP-West and Gujarat circles to <keyword id="6354924" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Idea-Cellular">Idea Cellular</keyword> for Rs Rs 3310 crore through a spectrum trading pact, the company announced Tuesday. 
 
Videocon Telecom holds liberalized and contiguous 1800 MHz spectrum in UP-East, UP-West, Bihar, Gujarat, MP and Haryana, which can ideally be used to offer 4G services. The telco was scouting for partners to trade its 4G airwaves in its lower scale operation circles such as UP-East, UP-West and Bihar. 
 
"We are pleased to get very good partner for this deal, and I am sure that this will go a long way to strengthen our telecom business," Videocon Group chairman Venugopal Dhoot said in a media statement Tuesday. 
 
Arvind Bali, Director and CEO, Videocon Telecom said the company has exercised the first Spectrum trading option for our UPW and Gujarat cirles post announcement of Spectrum trading policy. "UPE, UPW &amp; Bihar are our low operation circles, and we were looking at exercising Spectrum Trading options". 
 
These 3 circles account for approx 30% of the country's population &amp; have a low teledensity (approx 53% in UPE &amp; Bihar), hence very high potential. 
 This marks the first of a string of upcoming moves by Videocon to monetise and restructure the group's telecom assets and raise over Rs 14,000 crore ($2 billion) over the next two years through sale of assets and rights transfers and raising of capital through joint ventures and financial strategic partners in the non-spectrum associated business verticals such as ILD/NLD, <keyword id="17591" type="TECHNOLOGY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Broadband">broadband</keyword> and emerging telecom infrastructure businesses. 
 
According to Videocon, the value of 1800 MHz spectrum is pegged at roughly 65% to 70% of the 900 Mhz spectrum, which makes the total value of the spectrum in its six circles roughly Rs 10,050 crore.
