The bank announced a massive overhaul Wednesday that'll reduce management layers and almost certainly lead to job cuts. Insider's Jennifer Sor <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/citigroup-reorganization-layoffs-management-overhaul-reorganization-jane-fraser-stock-price-2023-9">has more on the reorg</a>, deemed by CEO Jane Fraser as the most consequential change to Citigroup in nearly 20 years. Citigroup is pitching the move as a way to simplify its structure. Case in point: Fraser said the changes eliminated 35 committees. Changes like these are bound to ruffle some feathers, but Fraser isn't bothered by it. The reorg will "make some of our people very uncomfortable," but the CEO said she's "absolutely fine with that." That might seem like a harsh stance, but understand the bank needs tough love. Citigroup's share price is down nearly 40% since Fraser took over as CEO in March 2021. To be fair, Fraser's tenure has been an uphill battle. She inherited plenty of headaches from her predecessor, Michael Corbat. That included the bank <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/citibank-revlon-loan-900-million-mistake-payment-how-it-happened-2021-2">accidentally wiring $900 million</a>, which is the type of thing that's typically frowned upon in banking. But two-plus years later, problems persist. Before the announcement, the bank's share price was down almost 9% this year, trailing all of its fellow big bank peers in the US except Bank of America. Citi's overhaul represents how big banks are scrambling to stay on top of a financial world passing them by. When news of Citi's reorg broke, I immediately thought of <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/latest-goldman-sachs-news-2019-5">Goldman Sachs</a>. The prestigious investment bank has also grabbed headlines for its <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/goldman-sachs-restructuring-david-solomon-mark-nachmann-winners-2022-10">multiple reorgs</a> amid a failed push into <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/goldman-sachs-investor-day-david-solomon-addresses-consumer-banking">consumer banking</a> under <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/goldman-sachs-ceo-david-solomon-defends-himself-dj-cnbc-2023-9">CEO David Solomon</a>. Meanwhile, my colleague <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/author/rebecca-ungarino">Rebecca Ungarino</a> pointed out that Wells Fargo has faced continued setbacks from a <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/wells-fargo-scandal-bank-overdraft-late-fees-foreclosure-settlement-history-2022-12">slew of fines</a> over the years as <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/latest-wells-fargo-news-hirings-layoffs">CEO Charlie Scharf</a> continues to work to right the ship. CEO Jamie Dimon <a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/jpmorgan-jamie-dimon-bank-stocks-fed-capital-rules-economic-outlook-2023-9">recently quipped</a> he "wouldn't be a big buyer of a bank" in reference to proposed regulations requiring big banks to <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/big-banks-capital-requirements-regulation-basel-2023-6">keep more money on the sidelines.</a> But banks' retrenchment could just signal an opportunity for others to fill in the gaps. <ul><li>Apple has begun assembling its new <keyword id="10609587" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="iphone-14" source="Orion">iPhone 14</keyword> at the Foxconn facility in <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>.</li><li>According to a JP Morgan analysis, Apple is likely to move 5% of its new <keyword id="6354606" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="iphone" source="Orion">iPhone</keyword> 14 production to India by the end of this year.</li><li>The locally-assembled iPhone 14 will go on sale in the country in the fourth quarter.</li></ul>Apple has begun assembling its new iPhone 14 at the Foxconn facility in India, a first in years when a new iPhone is being assembled within weeks of its global launch in the country, the tech giant confirmed on Monday. The locally-assembled iPhone 14 will go on sale in the country in the fourth quarter, as the company bolsters its local manufacturing. Foxconn is assembling the new iPhone 14 at its Sriperumbudur facility near Chennai. "The new iPhone 14 lineup introduces groundbreaking new technologies and important safety capabilities. We're excited to be manufacturing iPhone 14 in India," Apple said in a statement. The tech giant first started manufacturing iPhones in India in 2017 with iPhone SE. The tech giant manufactures some of its most advanced iPhones in the country, including iPhone 11, iPhone 12 and iPhone 13, at the Foxconn facility, while iPhone SE and iPhone 12 are being assembled at the Wistron factory in the country. As India doubles down on local manufacturing of technology products, Apple is likely to move 5 per cent of its new iPhone 14 production to India by the end of this year, and 25 per cent by 2025, according to a JP Morgan analysis. Analysts have earlier predicted that Apple has shortened the production period of its new iPhones in India this year, barely six weeks or so from the production cycle in China. Next year, Apple iPhone 15 may see its production at the Foxconn and Wistron manufacturing facilities in India at the exact production time with China. "India's iPhone supply chain has historically supplied only legacy models. Interestingly, Apple has requested that EMS vendors manufacture iPhone 14/14 Plus models in India in 4Q22, within two to three months of the start of production in Mainland China," according to the JP Morgan report. "The much shorter interval implies the increasing importance of India production and likely higher iPhone allocations to India manufacturing in the future," the report noted. "We believe Apple only produces iPhone 14/14 Plus models in India now due to the more complex camera module alignment of the iPhone Pro series (done by EMS vendors) and higher local market demand for the iPhone 14 series (tax savings)," it added. Buoyed by the ease-of-doing business and friendly local manufacturing policies, Apple's 'Make in India' iPhones will potentially account for close to 85 per cent of its total iPhone production for the country this year. The OnePlus 11 is expected to be powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, coupled with up to 16GB RAM and 512GB of internal storage. In 2023, the devices will make their way to India, either at once or separately. The Xiaomi 13 Ultra was recently <a href="https://twitter.com/stufflistings/status/1599024501572128769">spotted</a> on BIS, hinting that the Indian launch is imminent. The device is expected to have premium features such as a 2K E6 AMOLED display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, and 120W fast charging.
