Eve World became a reality in June 2021 as a first-of-its-kind women-only platform that aims to empower women to express their opinion, create content and form communities without worrying about the consequences. Commenting on the same, Katial highlighted that this is why they went with the tagline “We can’t change the world for you, but we can create a better one for you.” Pritam Baruah, Dean of School of Law at BML Munjal University, told Business Insider, “In the larger context, however, isolation will not be the lens through which they will be viewed. There is the freedom to form exclusive groups in the marketplace of platforms and each will serve its purpose and constituency." Eve World is trying to build more than just social media Eve World will use this capital to launch the platform in the January-March quarter of 2022. The company aims to launch worldwide, including countries like the US and UK, where female participation in the digital arena is higher. But it will start off with countries like India, Middle East and Indonesia, where the population is larger and the company believes that it can add some value by giving women their space. On the face of it, Eve World has been built on a creator partnership, something like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, where the people on the platform are running the show. But there is an additional layer of blockchain technology added to the platform, which will allow Eve World’s users to get rewarded for each action on the platform. The reward can either be virtual tokens or points and can be used for a range of use cases — including consulting doctors and mental health professionals on the platform, shopping or even to buy non-fungible tokens (NFTs) at a discount on the platform. It will generate revenue by charging micro-entrepreneurs to promote their businesses. Eve World will set up a two-way authentication to ensure only women are using the platform. Katial claimed that 70% of its workforce at Eve World are going to be women as they understand these issues much better. The company has already raised capital from Singapore-based Jungle Ventures, one of the largest independent early and growth stage venture capital firms in Southeast Asia. "While the same levels of consumption may not be achieved once we overcome this pandemic, there is definitely a new and higher normal that is likely to be established when it comes to time spent on OTT platforms," Girish Menon, Partner and Head, Media and Entertainment, KPMG in India told Business Insider. Moreover, Menon believes consumers are likely to develop a habit of consuming video online during lockdown which would later drive subscription growth. However, According to Karan Bedi, MX Player, OTT platforms might witness some immediate dip post lockdown, but the overall base and average time spent would continue the rise. With shooting of new TV series being delayed and movie theatres closed, services with large, legacy libraries and fresh content, have an inherent advantage. “A new normal has been witnessed as consumers adapt to the evolving situation of the pandemic. We feel this pattern will stay as it is in the post-COVID-19 era as well and perhaps there will be some incremental change in the overall user growth,” Aparna Acharekar, programming head of ZEE5 India. Ferzad Palia, who heads Voot Select in India too thinks the same. Rohit Paranjpe who heads SugarBox Networks believes new content will continue to enthuse people. The pressure on OTT services to release new content more frequently may also go up. Also, OTT players too should not be happy just retaining users and will have to engage them more. Apart from films, KPMG in a report suggested OTT platforms look at gaming as an extension to ecosystem offerings. “OTT will look to bring their consumer’s value in other areas: from aggregating other third party content providers who are not competing with them to promoting and pushing other adjacent services, like fitness and food delivery apps, and education platforms,” said Lior Friedman, VP - global partnerships and strategy at Amdocs Media. With the coronavirus pandemic sweeping the globe, cinemas have downed their shutters and digital platforms are stepping up to meet the growing entertainment demands of millions of people across the world and in India spending their days confined to their homes. The trend is clear. The fear of the pandemic, which has infected more than 8,000 people and claimed at least 273 lives in India, could stay for maybe months after it abates. And audiences are unlikely to get back to the theatre in a hurry.Reading the writing on the screen, production houses and distributors have already moved their big screen releases to digital platforms.Irrfan's much awaited "Angrezi Medium" released on March 13 but theatres were already closing everywhere by then and the film was in the theatres for just a day. The shrinking gap between theatrical releases and their debut on streaming platform has left cinema hall owners and exhibitors worried about their future."With everyone quarantined, digital platforms are "taking us by the throat and pushing down their content every week", Chauhan said. According to him, the comfort of OTT platforms poses a threat to the theatrical viewing experience because it's an "antithesis to appointment cinema". "Theatrical viewing is fixed at a particular time, a location, which isn't the case with OTT. You can watch unlimited content online using free data. This is a huge crisis we will face. It's not like the gates will open and people will throng our premises." "Imagine if I were Netflix or Amazon and made an offer to the makers of 'Sooryavanshi' to release it digitally, paying whatever amount they think they could've earned in theatrical, How long will Karan Johar, Rohit Shetty hold back?"There has been a substantial investment in the film and it's costing the makers interest on a daily basis as we speak," Chauhan said. "Sooryavanshi" is the third film in Rohit's cop universe after Ajay Devgn's "Singham" and Ranveer Singh-starrer "Simmba". The film was supposed to release on March 24 but has been postponed indefinitely due to the pandemic. Raj Bansal, senior distributor and exhibitor, said China, where the pandemic began, recently opened theatres but not many turned up. "That's such a clear indicator of where we stand today. No one is coming to cinema halls. At least that won't be on people's mind right now," said Bansal, director of Entertainment Paradise, a three-screen multiplex in Jaipur. Internationally, too, Disney, which recently launched its streaming service in India with Hotstar, has put some of its movies directly on Disney+. The titles include "Frozen 2" and "Onward" which arrived for home viewing faster than they would have had the cinemas been open.In an interview with Barron's, Disney's executive chairman Bob Iger said they were considering putting a few of their movies on the streaming platform."There are some we've decided to put on Disney+. We already announced one, Artemis Fowl, that would have been released in theaters. Others we've simply delayed. In some cases we've moved things onto Disney+ faster than we would have. 'Frozen 2' was one of them, but 'Onward' would be the biggest example. It was in theatres when this happened," Iger said when asked about films already in production. Similarly, Universal put "The Hunt" on streaming while Focus Features' made "Emma" available for early streaming. Dispelling the gloom, PVR Cinemas CEO Gautam Dutta said he is not worried about the future of theatres and considers the lockdown due to pandemic a challenging but short term problem. Not that we have got anything against <keyword id="1987992" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Big-moolah">big moolah</keyword> – the kind of money this <keyword id="1987996" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Third-instalment">third instalment</keyword> of the Dhoom series has earned till Day 4, both in India and abroad. 
 Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya and produced by <keyword id="6385240" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Aditya-Chopra">Aditya Chopra</keyword>, the high voltage <keyword id="6355304" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="action">action</keyword> thriller (starring <keyword id="6355923" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Aamir-Khan">Aamir Khan</keyword>, <keyword id="499" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="abhishek-bachchan">Abhishek Bachchan</keyword>, <keyword id="6354850" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Katrina-Kaif">Katrina Kaif</keyword> and <keyword id="36115" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="uday-chopra">Uday Chopra</keyword>) has sailed into the <keyword id="925977" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Rs-100-crore-club">Rs 100 crore club</keyword> just after the opening weekend and grossed around Rs 107 crore at home, according to industry estimates. That’s definitely better than Hrithik Roshan-Priyanka Chopra starrer <keyword id="500441" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="Krrish-3">Krrish 3</keyword>, which could enter the coveted club after 4 days. Total collections during the first weekend stood at Rs 170 crore-plus, with nearly Rs 63 crore from <keyword id="116674" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="overseas-markets">overseas markets</keyword>. And that’s a record for any <keyword id="679" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="bollywood-movie">Bollywood movie</keyword>. Now it is only a matter of time before it surpasses the lifetime grossing of Krrish 3 (Rs 270 crore) or <keyword id="227940" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Chennai-Express">Chennai Express</keyword> (Rs 409 crore). 
 
<keyword id="24705" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="Dhoom-3">Dhoom 3</keyword> has also raced past the <keyword id="1988004" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Opening-day-record">opening day record</keyword> of Chennai Express, a <keyword id="1988005" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Shah-Rukh-Khan-Deepika-Padukone-starrer">Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika Padukone starrer</keyword> that bagged around Rs 33.12 crore on the first day. In contrast, Aamir’s flick has collected a little more than Rs 36 crore. Its performance is equally impressive after Day 4 (December 23, 2013) and the movie has grossed an estimated total of Rs 127 crore in the <keyword id="6382118" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Domestic-Market">domestic market</keyword>. 
 In <keyword id="6378080" type="COUNTRY" weightage="80" keywordseo="North-America">North America</keyword>, too, Dhoom 3 has debuted to a record-breaking opening weekend, collecting Rs 21.26 crore nett ($3.4 million) across 236 theatres – the biggest opening of all time for a <keyword id="143" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bollywood">Bollywood</keyword> movie. In contrast, Chennai Express collected Rs 14.82 crore ($2.4 million) from 196 screens in America and <keyword id="6356687" type="COUNTRY" weightage="100" keywordseo="canada">Canada</keyword> in its opening weekend. So Dhoom 3 has beaten its both records in <keyword id="1988011" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Screen-count">screen count</keyword> and collection. 
 
It has an impressive performance in other overseas markets as well. The movie has collected Rs 9.18 crore nett (£906,875) from 97 screens (fewer number of screens than Chennai Express) in the UK and Rs 3.85 crore nett (A$695,782) from 30 screens in <keyword id="6355478" type="COUNTRY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Australia">Australia</keyword> in the first weekend. While Dhoom 3 has collected Rs 1.11 crore nett (NZ$ 217,923) from 19 screens in <keyword id="22501" type="COUNTRY" weightage="80" keywordseo="New-Zealand">New Zealand</keyword> and Rs 3.9 crore nett in <keyword id="3001" type="COUNTRY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Pakistan">Pakistan</keyword> the first weekend, Chennai Express gathered Rs 60.05 lakh (NZ$1,23,478) from 10 screens in NZ and Rs 1.84 crore in Pakistan for that span. 
 
There is yet another record associated with Dhoom 3. It has reportedly grabbed the <keyword id="1988018" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Biggest-number-of-screens">biggest number of screens</keyword> this time – around 4,500 in India and 750 screens overseas. The previous record was held by Chennai Express (3,700 screens at home and 700 screens abroad). 
 If all these numbers have numbed you a bit, let’s look at the storyline for a change. One can easily see it’s loaded with populist fare – <keyword id="24462" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="bikes">bikes</keyword>, <keyword id="28817" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="babes">babes</keyword> (who can forget Katrina’s high-flying <keyword id="729495" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Acrobatics">acrobatics</keyword> and tantalising <keyword id="16156" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="dances">dances</keyword>), exotic <keyword id="6542811" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="locations">locations</keyword>, great action and fascinating <keyword id="2902" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Stunts">stunts</keyword>. To top it all, there’s the muscle-flexing Aamir playing <keyword id="1841797" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sahir">Sahir</keyword> the baddie and looting <keyword id="6354604" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Chicago">Chicago</keyword> banks without leaving any clue except a smiling clown face and a Hindi message (with help from Katrina or <keyword id="260889" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Aaliya">Aaliya</keyword>, of course) while no-nonsense cop ACP Jai Dixit (Abhishek) and his bumbling sidekick <keyword id="208896" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ali-Akbar">Ali Akbar</keyword> (Uday Chopra) are back in action to <keyword id="1988025" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Catch-a-thief">catch a thief</keyword>. 
 We are also impressed by the superb <keyword id="42054" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Cinematography">cinematography</keyword> and great technical specs, but in spite of the <keyword id="3909943" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="star-power">star power</keyword> and the <keyword id="1988030" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sleek-treatment">sleek treatment</keyword>, this movie is painfully <keyword id="794224" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="predictable">predictable</keyword> and incredibly <keyword id="1311050" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="unimaginative">unimaginative</keyword>. One actually misses the subtle fun and the intriguing crime-tracking mechanisms of <keyword id="3894" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="Dhoom-2">Dhoom 2</keyword> here but then, this is the age-old Bollywood wine of betrayal-revenge-retribution, served in a <keyword id="99968" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="new-avatar">new avatar</keyword>. As Aparna Mudi of Zee News says – Dhoom 3 manages to deliver a typically <keyword id="1988026" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bollywood-revenge-saga">Bollywood revenge saga</keyword> in a modern way. 
 
Sarita A Tanwar of Daily News and Analysis gives it 4 stars and says, “Welcome to the world of jaw-dropping action and stunts never seen before on Hindi screen. Dhoom 3 redefines the word ‘<keyword id="4578" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="entertainment">entertainment</keyword>’ in the grandest way possible.” 
 
That is true, in a way, but the flick has drawn flak for its many shortcomings. Rajeev Masand of CNN-IBN has given the film 2.5 out of 5 stars and stated, “Dhoom 3 is let down by a <keyword id="1988035" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Convenient-script">convenient script</keyword> and its inability to deliver solid entertainment.” However, it’s Raja Sen of Rediff.com who drives the point home. He has given it 1.5 out of 5 stars and written, “Dhoom 3 is a children’s film made for children who’ve never seen a film.” And we cannot agree more. You will find loads of fascinating things in Dhoom 3, but just one thing is lacking – good cinema.
