<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Ford+India&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Ford India</a> has introduced a ‘Black Edition’ of its <keyword id="504693" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="40" keywordseo="compact-SUV">compact SUV</keyword>, the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Ford+EcoSport&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Ford EcoSport</a>. It will be available in three variants - Trend+, Titanium &amp; Titanium+ and has been priced between Rs. 8.58-9.93 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). 
 
The car will offer three variants, a 1.5 TiVCT petrol engine with manual and automatic transmission, a 1.5 TDCi diesel engine and the much touted 1.0 EcoBoost engine. 
 
“The ‘Black Edition’ accentuates <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Ford+EcoSport&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">EcoSport</a>’s bold design, giving the compact SUV an even more striking look and a substantial road presence,” said Anurag Mehrotra, executive director Marketing, Sales &amp; Service at <keyword id="106216" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Ford-India">Ford India</keyword>. 
 
The new variant will offer all-black exteriors that have a black grille, black-out moulded headlamps, 16-inch black alloy wheels, black mirror covers, and black fog lamp bezel, black roof rails &amp; roof cross bars. It will also offer up to six airbags for safety and SYNC with AppLink, Ford’s in-car connectivity system that allows drivers to stay connected. 
 
The <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Fords-EcoSport-gets-Rs-1-12-lakh-cheaper-to-take-on-Marutis-Vitara-Brezza/articleshow/51360230.cms">Ford EcoSport</a> and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Mahindra+TUV300&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Mahindra TUV300</a> have been facing the heat recently after Maruti Suzuki launched its own <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Compact+SUV&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Compact SUV</a>, the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Maruti-Suzuki-Vitara-Brezza-maybe-the-new-benchmark-in-Indias-sub-compact-SUV-segment/articleshow/51975400.cms">Vitara Brezza </a>. In April this year, the Brezza sold 7,832 units against EcoSport's 3,779 and TUV’s 1,900. This is despite the big price cut on the <keyword id="874829" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Ford-Ecosport">Ford EcoSport</keyword>.

In a bid to take on <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=maruti+suzuki">Maruti Suzuki</a>’s compact SUV <keyword id="2776768" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vitara-Brezza">Vitara Brezza</keyword>, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Ford">Ford India</a> slashed prices of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=ecosport">EcoSport</a> by up to Rs 1.12 lakh. 
 
<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=vitara+brezza">Vitara Brezza</a> will hit the markets with price starting at Rs 6.99 lakh. 
 Meanwhile, the petrol variants of the <keyword id="874829" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ford-Ecosport">Ford EcoSport</keyword> will be available from Rs 6.68 lakh onwards and the diesel trims starting from Rs 7.28 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). 
 
Likewise, EcoSport’s diesel option will be cheaper by Rs 1.12 lakh at Rs 7.28 lakh as against Rs 8.41 lakh earlier. 
 <keyword id="106216" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ford-India">Ford India</keyword> Executive Director (Marketing, Sales and Service) Anurag Mehrotra said: "Ford EcoSport has always been recognised for its strong value proposition and this realignment further strengthens that proposition." 
 
He further said: "With enhanced value for money proposition, we are extending its appeal across segments, including Rs 6 8 lakh price band which has been growing at 40 per cent since 2013." 
 On Tuesday, market leader <keyword id="44883" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maruti-Suzuki">Maruti Suzuki</keyword> India had launched its much-awaited compact SUV Vitara Brezza at an introductory price range of Rs 6.99 lakh and Rs 9.68 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), kicking off a price war in the compact SUV segment. 
 
In the first two days of launch, MSI has garnered 5,600 bookings.

of Maruti’s Vitara Brezza onslaught, Ford’s EcoSport gets Rs 1.12 lakh cheaper

<keyword id="106216" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ford-India">Ford India</keyword> has slashed prices of select variants of its compact sedan <keyword id="2784465" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ford-Aspire">Ford Aspire</keyword> and hatchback Figo by up to Rs 91,000 in a bid to boost sales. All the price changes have been introduced from immediate effect. 
 
As per the changes, Ford Aspire will now be available in a range of Rs 5.28 lakh and Rs 6.8 lakh for 1.2 litre petrol option. The prices for different variants of this sedan have been decreased from Rs 25,000 to Rs 91,000 depending on the trim level. 
 
Similarly, the price for its diesel variant has seen a price cut ranging from Rs 25,000 to Rs 91,000 across different versions, making different models available between Rs 6.37 lakh and Rs 7.89 lakh. 
 
Talking of Figo, after a price reduction ranging from Rs 29,000 to Rs 30,000 for the top end versions, the 1.2 litre petrol option will now be priced between Rs 4.54 lakh and Rs 6.29 lakh. On the other hand, the diesel option of the model, which is powered by 1.5 litre engine, will now be priced from Rs 5.63 lakh to Rs 7.18 lakh (all prices ex-showroom Delhi). 
 
"With the realignment of prices, Figo and Aspire are even more compelling for customers. The realignment also enhances the accessibility of these outstanding products, which offer segment-first safety features and class-leading technologies," said Anurag Mehrotra, Ford India Executive Director for Marketing, Sales and Service. 
 
It was in March this year that Ford India had reduced prices of EcoSport by up to Rs 1.12 lakh, just two days after India’s biggest carmaker Maruti Suzuki had launched its compact SUV Vitara Brezza starting from Rs 6.99 lakh. 
 
A few days back, Maruti Suzuki India announced <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Maruti-Suzuki-prices-up/articleshow/53499576.cms">price hikes</a> for various models by up to Rs 20,000, citing rising input cost and rupee depreciation.

Aspire and Figo prices are down by up to Rs 91,000

The <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=US+auto-maker">US auto-maker</a>, which earlier used to come out with one product at a time, is planning to launch at least four all-new vehicles at the same time to boost its sales. 
 
The company is trying to shed the image as a one-product-wonder by launching several models in quick succession in India. 
 
So, how it is bringing in change? Ford has stopped manufacturing the Figo hatchback as well as the Classic and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Fiesta+sedans">Fiesta sedans</a>. 
 
While the first model from the fresh range, the Figo Aspire, has just been launched, a new <a href="file:///C:/Users/gunja.d/Documents/Septemeber%202015/Figo%20and%20Endeavour">Figo and Endeavour</a> as well as the Mustang are next in line to enter the <keyword id="47445" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="40" keywordseo="Indian-market">Indian market</keyword> over the next few months, said people who are aware of the development. 
 
Anurag Mehrotra, executive director for marketing, sales and service, said: "As part of our commitment to customers in India, we continue to investigate ways in which we can meet the needs of customers with more products.” 
 
Presently, the EcoSport is Ford's bread-and-butter model in India. The Figo Aspire has generated robust response, with the company already getting 4,000-5,000 bookings since the car's launch last month. 
 The new Figo is likely to hit the market by September end or the beginning of October, followed the new Endeavour premium SUV. The Mustang sports car is expected to make its India debut during the <keyword id="73154" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Auto-Expo">Auto Expo</keyword> early next year. 
 
We want to comment here that these are part of Ford's desperate efforts to boost sales that have been on a downhill drive for quite some time. 
 
Ford's sales fell over 30% to 18,546 units from April to July - the first four months of the current fiscal year - when the Indian market grew 7%. 
 
Product launches by Ford in India have been few and far between when compared with rivals such as <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Maruti+Suzuki+">Maruti Suzuki</a> and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Hyundai+Motor">Hyundai Motor</a>, a fact that industry experts blame for the US auto maker's lacklustre performance in this market. 
 To increase its market share will be a big challenge for Ford as it is a little late to bring a sub-4-meter sedan and the new products Figo and Figo Aspire are both positioned in an overheated segment, said Gaurav Vangaal, senior analyst for forecasting at consultancy firm <keyword id="350927" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="IHS-Automotive">IHS Automotive</keyword>. "In a dynamic market, keeping pace with changing buyers' needs through continuous freshness is a given. Any delays can be dangerous." 
 
The company has often taken a long break after launching a successful model such as the Figo, said Vangaal. 
 The Figo was a big success for Ford when it launched in 2010. The company's volume more than doubled to about 1 lakh in fiscal 2011, when <keyword id="106216" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Ford-India">Ford India</keyword> also posted its highest market share of 3.93%. But as the novelty of hatchback started waning, the volumes fell to 77,225 units within two years. 
 
The Fiesta that came next could hardly make an impact due to premium pricing. But the popularity of EcoSport drove its volume to 85,000 units in fiscal 2014. But EcoSport volumes too slowed in the last fiscal year, driving down overall numbers. 
 
Ford's April-July market share of 2.11% was its lowest in five years and it is banking on the new models to improve the standing. It now has a better system in place to achieve it, such as an operationally profitable manufacturing base and wider network. Efforts are also ongoing to make spares available at competitive prices, an area of concern for Ford customers.
