Chandigarh, Jun 22 () The Punjab Cabinet on Monday gave its nod to set up four new COVID-19 testing laboratories in the state to scale up capacity to up to 13,000 tests a day. The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Amarinder Singh. The new labs will be set up in Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Mohali, to help scale up testing capacity from the current 9,000 a day, in three government medical colleges at Patiala, Amritsar and Faridkot, to 13,000 tests per day, according to an official release. The new laboratories would be established at the Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University in Ludhiana; the Punjab State Forensic Sciences Laboratory in Mohali; the Northern Regional Diseases Diagnostic Laboratory in Jalandhar; and the Punjab Biotechnology Incubator in Mohali, it said. The cabinet also gave nod for appointing 131 essential staff needed for these labs, besides clearing the proposal for creating and filling up four posts of assistant professor (microbiology) on adhoc basis in these four testing laboratories. The release said that all the appointments will be made through outsourcing from the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences in Faridkot. The 131 staff positions positions would include research scientists (non-medical), research assistants, lab technicians, data entry operators, lab attendants and sweepers. The Cabinet has also given its nod to re-employment of the medical, ayurvedic and dental faculty after their retirement at 62 years. The re-employment will be done at the government medical and dental colleges in Patiala and Amritsar as well as the government ayurvedic college in Patiala. While re-employment will be up to the age of 70 years for medical and ayurvedic teachers, for dental faculty, it will be till the age of 65, ]the release said. To ensure expeditious disposal of cases related to the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and crime against women, the cabinet also gave go ahead to the creation of 35 posts for setting up of new units of DNA, cyber forensic and audio and voice analysis in the Forensic Science Laboratory at Mohali, with an annual outlay of Rs 1.56 crore. The amended Section 173 of CrPC requires that trials of sexual offences cases should be completed within two months. DNA sampling and testing has also been made mandatory for all cases of sexual offences, said the release. To ensure effective implementation of these mandates, the cabinet cleared a proposal of the home department to strengthen the DNA unit in the state's forensic lab by increasing the number of units from one to two. The release said at present, cases of cyber forensic and audio and voice analysis are sent to other scientific laboratories for examination, since there is no facility for their examination in the state forensic lab. 4 new COVID-19 testing labs to come up in Punjab

New Delhi, Nov 19 () Customer engagement and rewards platform EasyRewardz on Tuesday said it has raised an undisclosed sum in series B funding from Walmart-owned Flipkart.
 The fund infusion will help EasyRewardz to drive new product development and accelerate global expansion, a statement said.
 EasyRewardz has more than doubled its customers and revenues since its series A funding round in November 2017, which was led by Trans-Continental Venture Fund (TCVF), it added.
 Other investors in the company include Venture Catalysts along with angel investors like Jitendra Gupta, Amrish Rau, Satyen Kothari, Ashneer Grover, Subrat Pani and others.
 "We see CRM Software adoption fastest amongst SMBs (small and medium business) in retail as customer centricity continues to hold centre ground in retailing," EasyRewardz co-founder and CEO Soumya Chatterjee said.
 CRM Software has a market size of USD 48 billion, and is seeing a 16 per cent year-on-year increase globally, with Asia Pacific growing faster at over 20 per cent,
 "We have firmly established our position in India, and have a toe-hold in MENA. We will now accelerate our global expansion to meet the growing demand of Customer Experience Management platforms," EasyRewardz co-founder and sales director Tejas Kadakia said.

Greater Noida, Feb 12 () India's flagship motor show Auto Expo came to a close on Wednesday after witnessing over 70 product launches and unveils, recording a total of 6.08 lakh visitors over eight days. This edition of the Auto Expo witnessed over 352 product displays from 108 exhibitors, including eight global premiers, over 70 launches and unveils, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers said in a statement. Keeping in pace with the trend for eco-friendly vehicles, the expo also saw launch of 35 electric vehicles, while 15 concepts were showcased. New participants included Chinese players such as Great Wall Motors and Haima Automobile along with Olectra. The expo, however, missed the likes of Toyota, Honda, BMW, Audi and two-wheeler majors Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto and TVS Motor Co, which had stayed away from the show. The biennial motor show had kicked off on February 5 at India Expo Mart here under the shadow of coronavirus outbreak as officials of Chinese participants stayed away from pavilions, on a day when China's Great Wall Motor announced an investment of USD 1 billion to tap into the country's auto market. Digital creator Sadhwani says that most influencers get 50% in advance and the rest 50% is disbursed after the campaign goes live, within a month. A few influencers, even with less number of followers, are more valued in the brandverse than others. So, what do brands prefer: mega or nano influencers? “Influencers with niche target audiences are approached by dedicated brands and are paid higher due to the ROI that they are able to convert. Brand prefers a bunch of micro-influencers over tier I creators with huge followings, as that helps brands reach multiple targeted audiences and have higher engagement as compared to signing up with a creator with a huge follower,” says Vaibhav Odehkar, managing director, India and the Middle East at AnyMind Group, a brand enablement platform. Creators with a loyal fan base also enjoy more attention from brands. Aayush Tiwari, vice president of talent management and music business at Monk Entertainment says, “A loyal audience equals a significant trust factor. A dedicated audience would interact and want to buy the product their favourite influencer is endorsing. A loyal audience will always try to back the creator and show support. However, a creator who is starting from scratch, will stick to barter for a longer period of time. Sadhwani says that while it would be difficult to standardise the pricing system in this industry, “There should be a minimum bar set for all creators — prices below, which may not sell their content, so that they don’t get exploited. However, setting an upper limit would be unfair and rather challenging.” Content strategy and development agency Yellow Seed’s associate director of new business and growth, Angad Saimbi was enthusiastic about the idea of standardisation in influencer marketing. “This will mean that marketers would need to quantify the value of a “like,” putting influencers in a very defined slab. This will push the influencer community to ensure that they continue to build quality content that not only resonates with their community but also builds their credibility as an influencer.” Vipasha Joshi, country manager at Jellysmack, a global creator company, says that ‘standardising pricing in any industry is always a move in the right direction.’ “This also helps set a framework; where the creators and influencers can get more clarity on the structure of how the brand collaboration works and it would be democratised and the same for all.” Agarwal of Deckser.Live believes it is difficult but not impossible. He highlighted a prominent challenge that the industry might face if it were to standardise its prices. “The question really is what’s the right price? What a ₹100 crore brand is willing to pay or what a startup with a few lakhs in revenue is willing to pay. Standardising will not only benefit the brands but it will be beneficial for the creators. In this extremely dynamic industry, the biggest challenge is to find one common ground or parameter to segment influencers.” Influencers marketing experts are conflicted on this. Some said standardisation would increase transparency and ensure that creators are remunerated fairly by brands, while others called it a pipe dream.

The son of London billionaire Lord Paul has died after falling 8 storeys from his luxury penthouse

Handpicked by <keyword id="163404" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Softbank">SoftBank</keyword> CEO <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Masayoshi+Son&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Masayoshi Son</a> himself, this <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Silicon+Valley&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Silicon Valley</a> was widely regarded as Son’s successor, and was one of the highest paid man on earth. 
 
Arora's resignation comes a day after SoftBank gave him the clean chit after a special committee reviewed allegations against him, and found no merit. Son is expected to continue as the CEO for the next 5-10 years. 
 
Mr. Arora’s departure comes after a volley of criticism about his lackluster investments, and shareholders campaigning to see him gone, claiming conflict of interest as a major reason, thanks to his role as an adviser to private-equity firm Silver Lake. 
 
Allegations against him: 
In its allegations, New York-based law firm Boies Schiller &amp; Flexner representing SoftBank shareholders claimed he was guilty of a "series of questionable transactions, poor investment performance and conflict of interest." 
 
With SoftBank struggling with slow growth in profit and a huge debt of $80 billion, no wonder Mr. Arora’s appointment as a board member to Sprint soon after joining SoftBank would face criticism. 
 
“Large corporate investments are not based on individuals. SoftBank’s investments would be guided by their idea of the size of the Indian market rather than an individual’s decisions”, Arvind Singhal, Chairman and Managing Director of Technopak says. 
 
His investments: 
Arora has been a strong supporter of the Indian startup ecosystem. Under him, SoftBank pumped over a billion dollars into the country’s startups. Its India investments include the likes of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Snapdeal&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Snapdeal</a>, Ola, Grofers, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=OYO+rooms&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">OYO rooms</a> and the troubled <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Housing.com&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Housing.com</a>. 
 
“With him in place, SoftBank may have looked at India much more aggressively”, Singhal muses. 
 
Mr. Arora’s $208 million paycheck over the last two years made him one of the highest-paid executives in the world. His decision to purchase SoftBank stocks worth over $483 million last year also caused an outcry, calling it an attempt by the company to quieted murmurs about his performance. 
 
“I won’t be looking to invest in this space anymore, but not because of what transpired with the SoftBank portfolio. That space was looking like one with a very large market opportunity and, that ventures operating in it could scale quickly. However, now the consumer internet space is fairly congested. There is no value in investing in a space where every startup has several well funded competitors”, Angad Singh Rikhy, Manager, Dealflow and Partnerships, Unitus Seed Fund says. 
 
When asked if Arora’s investment decisions could be stamped as ‘bad choices’, Rikhy says, “I wouldn’t’ go as far to say that. Every fund and/or angel makes investments that go south, at an average 2 out of 10 funded startups make positive returns. Looking at his portfolio, it was not a complete blunder as people are positioning it. The reality is a lot of the time early-stage investors are not positioned well enough, whether its due to the lack of historical information when dealing with innovative products/services or the fact that most of the data available are projections. We bet on an entrepreneur’s capabilities to pull off certain strategic maneuvers.” 
 Several of Mr. Arora’s investments have been burning cash and losing money. Ola is still up against Uber in an expensive price war, <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword> is struggling to raise new funds and OYO’s business model is being questioned.

Nikesh Arora will leave SoftBank - what next?

<img class="gwt-Image" src="/photo/33440400.cms" />Getting a job in leading banks or financial institutions is the dream of many job aspirants. But the current practice of credit checking may impact their CIBIL credit scores. Let us have a look at what happens in such cases. 
 
When Mumbai-based Angad Gupta got his MBA degree from a leading B-school, he did not expect that his aim to get into a leading bank could end up in lowering his credit score. 
 
“I applied to a dozen companies – all of them are leading banks and NBFCs in India,” said Gupta. “But when I pulled my personalised credit score a couple of years later for taking a car loan, I was in shock. Four of the 12 companies I had applied to, had created a ‘hard’ inquiry against my credit file, which pulled down my credit score,” he added. 
 
There are two kinds of inquiries in credit score parlance – soft inquiry and hard inquiry. A hard inquiry always impacts your credit score while a soft one does not do so. In a hard inquiry, the credit score is being pulled when a person wants to apply for credit card, loan, etc. But a soft inquiry is made for other purposes and not for credit. For instance, when you get your own report from CIBIL for employment, rental purpose or just to check your credit profile, it will be a soft inquiry. 
 
Banks in India are pulling the credit reports of prospective employees, which are creating hard inquiries and consequently impacting the credit worthiness of the candidates. Every credit report directly pulled from CIBIL has to mention the reason for the inquiry. But banks often fail to do so, which are creating hard inquiries, although it is not done as per the permissible use of data as stipulated in the regulation (CICRA 2005). 
 
So be very careful if you are applying for a job in a financial institution. Always ensure that the company does not pull your credit report unnecessarily. If you find that any such hard inquiry has been made, get in touch with CIBIL and also contact the organisation that has pulled your CIBIL report.
