<p>Enfield got a six year deal and <a href="http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/blog/eye-on-college-basketball/21990187/usc-close-to-reaching-deal-with-fgcus-andy-enfield">will reportedly make $1.5 million a year</a>, ten times what he made at FCGU, according to CBS Sports.</p>
<p>Here's Enfield and his wife Amanda, a former model who was also the talk of the tournament:</p>

FCGU Coach Andy Enfield Will Be The Next Head Coach At USC

<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;"><div class="image-container float_right" style="width:400px"><div class="image"></div><p class="source">Elsa/Getty Images</p></div>USC unveiled coach <keyword id="1750459" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Andy-Enfield">Andy Enfield</keyword> at a press conference in LA yesterday, and <a href="http://larrybrownsports.com/college-basketball/amanda-marcum-enfield-no-way-reality-show/182275">his suddenly famous wife Amanda was right by his side</a>.</span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">In a Q&amp;A with reporters, Amanda — who is an ex-model who did shoots for Maxim and other publications — talked about the impossibility resuming her modeling career, Katherine Webb, and her newfound fame.</span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">She also mentioned that someone pitched her on a reality show, but she'd never do it. Asked if she had gotten any calls to do TV or photoshoots, she said:</span></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">"There have been interview requests and something about a reality show, which petrified me, there's no way. But really that's it."</span></p>
<p>A reporter asked her if she would re-boot her modeling career now that she's in Los Angeles, but she said she's too old.</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">"<span>Having three kids, I’m so busy with that and that comes first, absolutely. I don’t know. ... </span>I'm 34 so I kind of think I'm a little too old for it anyway."</span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">And finally someone asked her about Katherine Webb, who Amanda had to Google apparently:</span></p>

Apparently Someone Tried To Get Andy Enfield's Model Wife To Do A Reality Show

<p><div class="image-container float_right" style="width:400px"><div class="image"></div><p class="source">Tom Pennington/Getty Images</p></div>After turning <keyword id="1751376" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Florida-Gulf-Coast">Florida Gulf Coast</keyword> into America's team with <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/florida-gulf-coast-dunks-twice-on-san-diego-state-2013-3">a miracle Sweet 16 run</a>, coach <keyword id="1750459" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Andy-Enfield">Andy Enfield</keyword> is heading to USC.</p>
<p>The school will pay him $1.5 million per year, <a href="http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/blog/eye-on-college-basketball/21990187/usc-close-to-reaching-deal-with-fgcus-andy-enfield">Gary Parrish of CBS Sports reports</a>, ten times what he was making at FGCU.</p>
<p>Considering where Enfield was two weeks ago, it's a shock hire.</p>
<p>It's not like Enfield was a hot coaching prospect coming into the tournament. While <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/andy-enfield-wife-ncaa-tournament-2013-3">he has NBA and big-time college experience</a> as an assistant at Florida State, FGCU was his first head coaching gig.</p>
<p>He'd only been there for two years, and while he was successful this year, he wasn't exactly setting the world on fire.</p>
<p>FGCU finished sixth in the Atlantic Sun last year with a 15-17 record. Before their Sweet 16 run this year, they finished second in the conference behind Mercer and had a 26-11 record.</p>
<p><span>That first weekend of the tournament in Philadelphia changed everything for Enfield. FGCU beat Georgetown on Friday night, and then San Diego State on Sunday night.</span></p>
<p><span><span>His team didn't just pull off two miracle upsets, it smacked around big-time programs and played with an infectious enthusiasm. FGCU danced and dunked its way into the Sweet 16, and for one weekend became the center of the college basketball world.</span></span></p>
<p>If Georgetown was able to complete its comeback against FGCU in the second, Enfield would still be a young, relatively anonymous coach at a young, anonymous school.</p>
<p>But that didn't happen.</p>
<p>In 80 minutes of basketball over two nights, Enfield rose from a second-year small-time coach to a fresh basketball mind with a clear up-tempo philosophy, at least in the eyes of USC.</p>
<p>This isn't to say Enfield doesn't deserve his new gig and his new salary. By all accounts he has the pedigree and smarts to be a great coach at any level of basketball.</p>
<p>But it just goes to show how the NCAA Tournament can create figures of national basketball importance in a small period of time.</p>

Florida Gulf Coast's Ex-Coach Got A New Job And A $1.4 Million Raise For One Good Weekend Of Basketball

<ul class="summary-list"><li>Bronny James went into cardiac arrest and was taken to the hospital during a Monday basketball practice.</li><li>He is now in stable condition and is no longer in the ICU, according to a statement from a family spokesperson. </li></ul><p>LeBron James' son <a href="https://www.insider.com/lebron-james-son-bronny-basketball-nike-nba-college-usc">Bronny James</a> is in stable condition after he went into cardiac arrest on the court on Monday, a family spokesperson told Insider. </p><p>"Yesterday while practicing, Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest," according to a statement shared by a family spokesperson.</p><p>The statement said that medical staff treated Bronny James — a rising freshman for the USC Trojans — and took him to the hospital where he was admitted into the ICU.</p><div type="image" title="Bronny James" height="1873" width="2498" msid="102114774" hostid="261"></div><p><a href="https://www.tmz.com/2023/07/25/lebron-james-son-bronny-cardiac-arrest-usc-basketball-workout/">According to TMZ</a>, the 911 call for James was made at 9:26 a.m. local time from the Galen Center, where the USC Men's Basketball team plays and practices. At the time of the call, James was unconscious, TMZ reported.</p><p>He is now in stable condition and is no longer in the ICU, the statement said. </p>  <p>Though interest in the budding Trojans star initially stemmed from his father — a Los Angeles Lakers superstar who broke Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's <a href="https://www.insider.com/lebron-james-breaks-nba-scoring-record-kareem-abdul-jabbar-2023-2">all-time NBA scoring record</a> last season — Bronny James is an impressive basketball player in his own right.</p><p>A 6-foot-3, 180-pound point guard, the younger James was <a href="http://www.espn.com/college-sports/basketball/recruiting/playerrankings" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">ranked No. 20 in ESPN's Class of 2023</a> coming out of basketball powerhouse Sierra Canyon High School in Los Angeles. After averaging 14.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.8 steals per game during his senior season, James committed to play for his hometown program, USC, and head coach Andy Enfield.</p><p>The 18-year-old was widely expected to be a <a href="https://www.insider.com/bronny-james-lebron-son-nba-mock-draft-prospect-2023-6">top pick in the 2024 NBA Draft</a>, and there was speculation that his father could try to join him on whichever team selects him. But how Bronny's health scare impacts his first season as a Trojan and, beyond that, his professional basketball prospects still remains to be seen.</p><div type="image" title="LeBron James puts his arm around his son Bronny while Bronny holds a trophy in 2019." height="1500" width="2000" msid="102114775" hostid="261"></div><p>Though cardiac arrests are <a href="https://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/cardiac-arrest/causes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">rare in people under the age of 30</a>, they are far from unprecedented <a href="https://www.insider.com/sports-stars-who-cardiac-arrest-on-field-like-damar-hamlin-2023-1">among athletes</a> during the course of competition. At the beginning of 2023, 24-year-old Buffalo Bills safety <a href="https://www.insider.com/buffalo-bills-safety-damar-hamlin-a-complete-timeline-of-the-nfl-incident-and-health-updates-2023-1">Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field</a> during a January game in Cincinnati.</p><p>Hamlin was later revealed to have <a href="https://www.insider.com/what-is-commotio-cordis-rare-injury-damar-hamlin-2023-1">suffered commotio cordis</a>, a <a href="https://www.insider.com/why-damar-hamlin-collapse-doctors-say-tackle-can-stop-heart-2023-1" rel="">rare but life-threatening cardiac event</a> that sometimes occurs upon chest impact at the precise moment when the heart is between beats. But according to <a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7237076/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">research published in 2019</a>, there are several underlying conditions — including undiagnosed heart disease or genetic abnormalities, which are exacerbated by intense exercise and physical stress — that may have led to James' health scare.</p><p>In some cases, underlying conditions could prevent athletes from returning to competition. Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero, for example, was <a href="https://www.eurosport.com/football/i-thought-it-was-nothing-sergio-aguero-discusses-heart-problem-which-forced-early-retirement_sto8766142/story.shtml">forced to retire from professional soccer</a> after chest discomfort during a game turned out to be a cardiac arrhythmia.</p><div type="image" title="LeBron and Bronny James." height="1333" width="1777" msid="102114776" hostid="261"></div><p>What caused James' cardiac arrest is still unclear, but he is undoubtedly fortunate to have survived Monday's incident. Out-of-hospital cardiac arrests are fatal nearly 90% of the time, according to the <a href="https://www.sca-aware.org/about-sudden-cardiac-arrest/latest-statistics#:~:text=The%20American%20Heart%20Association%20has,nearly%2090%25%20of%20them%20fatal." target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">American Heart Association</a>.</p><p>But athletes who suffer cardiac arrests tend to have better outcomes, <a href="https://www.sca-aware.org/about-sudden-cardiac-arrest/latest-statistics" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">with the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation reporting</a> that 43.8% of athletes who experienced sudden cardiac arrests and were attended to by paramedics between 2009 and 2014 survived and were discharged from the hospital.</p>

<p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container float_right"><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div>University of Southern California athletic director Pat Haden <a href="https://twitter.com/ADHadenUSC/status/582939268730867712">announced Tuesday that he will be boycotting Indiana</a> following the passage of a controversial "religious freedom" law <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/mike-pence-holds-defiant-press-conference-on-religious-freedom-law-2015-3">that critics say would allow businesses in the state to discriminate against same-sex couples</a>.<p>Haden said on Twitter he would not travel to Indiana this week in honor of his son, who is gay. The USC AD was set to attend a meeting in Indianapolis this week for the College Football Playoff selection committee, according to his Twitter.</p><p>Here's <a href="https://twitter.com/ADHadenUSC/status/582939268730867712">his full message denouncing Indiana's new law</a>:</p><div><div></div></div><p>Haden <a href="http://www.collegefootballplayoff.com/selection-committee">has a long history with USC</a>, graduating from the university in 1975. While a student, Haden was a quarterback on the Trojans football team, playing in&#xa0;three&#xa0;Rose Bowl&#xa0;games and leading the school to two national championships. USC's athletic director is boycotting Indiana: 'I am the proud father of a gay son'

<p>Not only has he led FGCU (which didn't even have a basketball team until 2002) <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/florida-gulf-coast-dunks-twice-on-san-diego-state-2013-3">to the Sweet 16</a>, he has an incredible personal story to back it up.</p>
<p>Enfield played college hoops at Johns Hopkins and graduated in 1991. After that he went to business school at Maryland and got his MBA in finance. He ran lacrosse and basketball camps <a href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/colleges/florida-gulf-coast-coach-andy-enfield-becomes-a-star-of-the-ncaa-tournament/2013/03/23/c56b8e5e-93ec-11e2-ba5b-550c7abf6384_story_1.html">to earn some extra money in grad school</a>, according to the Washington Post</p>
<p>In his post-college years he straddled the divide between the sports and business worlds. After six years as an NBA assistant (1994-2000),<span style="line-height: 1.5em;"> he was <a href="http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/-college-basketball-mens-tournament/news/20130325/andy-enfield-florida-gulf-coast/">an early employee and vice president of a health care software company</a> called TractManager in 2000.* </span></p>
<p>TractManager's CEO Tom Rizk told SI:</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">"[Enfield] was involved in the early stages of building all the little building blocks of the company. He invested a modest amount of his own money. He owned a small percentage of the company and the company grew into something significant."</span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;"><span>The company was reportedly valued at $100 million when Enfield was there, </span><a href="http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/-college-basketball-mens-tournament/news/20130325/andy-enfield-florida-gulf-coast/">and is worth way more than that now</a><span>, according to Rizk.</span></span></p>
<p>That wasn't his only business foray. He also ran <a href="http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/-college-basketball-mens-tournament/news/20130323/florida-gulf-coast-enfield-georgetown-upset-tournament/#all">a basketball consulting company called All Net Basketball</a>, Sports Illustrated reports.</p>
<p>He always stayed tangentially involved in the basketball world, and in 2006 he went all-in on being a coach.</p>
<p>After five years as an assistant in Florida State, FGCU hired him in 2011.</p>
<p>Outside of the professional realm, Enfield is married to lingerie model turned stay-at-home mom Amanda Enfield.</p>
<p>She has <a href="http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaab-the-dagger/know-amanda-marcum-enfield-supermodel-wife-fgcu-coach-031048393--ncaab.html">appeared on the cover of Maxim</a> and a Victoria's Secret ad, among other publications. The two met in New York City in 2003, when they carpooled together to a NCAA tournament game. He <a href="http://www.usatoday.com/story/gameon/2013/03/25/fgcu-coach-andy-enfield-took-his-model-wife-to-taco-bell-on-first-date/2016775/">took her to a Taco Bell in Queens on their first date</a>, he told Newsday (via USA Today):</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">"I got her a nice burrito, and we sat behind the bench. I figured if she still likes me after Taco Bell and a basketball game . . . "</p>
<p>They got married in 2004, and now they have three kids.</p>

<p>Oh yeah, he's also <a href="http://www.fgcuathletics.com/athletics/directory/2104/andy-enfield/">the all-time leader in NCAA free throw shooting percentage</a>.</p>
<p>Enfield is just the one of the many reasons why America has fallen in love with this school.</p>
<p>On the court, FGCU is the most fun team in the tournament on the coach. They throw alley-oops and play an up-and-down style that's much different than most college teams. If the only thing we new about FGCU was how they played, they'd still be universally beloved.</p>
<p>But the off-the-court narrative is what really pushes them over the top. Their campus is <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/florida-gulf-coasts-campus-photos-2013-3">basically a tropical resort</a>, the school didn't exist 23 years ago, and they're coached by a renaissance man who seemingly has it all.</p>

Florida Gulf Coast's Basketball Coach Is A Self-Made Millionaire Who's Married To A Former Model

<p>They're the first 15-seed to make the Sweet 16, and they did it in astounding fashion. It's not just that they're playing well, it's that they are playing a high-flying, energetic style that produces a large number of highlight-reel plays.</p>
<p>Florida Gulf Coast is an anonymous mid-major school with uber-athletic players that try to dunk on every single possession, and that is why they've become everyone's favorite cult team.</p>
<p>According to Tim Layden of SI, the team <em>practices</em> lobs instead of regular passes:</p>

<p>And the school <a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23dunkcity&amp;src=typd">has nicknamed itself "Dunk City,"</a> an homage to the LA Clippers' Lob City moniker. </p>
<p>They are a bizarro Cinderella team. They don't hit a ton of threes or win on experience and fundamentals like many of the lower-seeds that make unlikely tourney runs. They are more athletic than the big-time teams they are playing, and they try to exploit that advantage.</p>
