The <keyword id="37102" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Andhra-Pradesh">Andhra Pradesh</keyword> government on Saturday decided to cancel the AP SSC (class X) public examinations and promote the students in view of the COVID-19 situation. State Education Minister A Suresh said the government took the decision to safeguard the students' health in view of the rapid spread of coronavirus in the state. The July 10 examinations were originally scheduled to be held in March but were first put off due to the impending elections to local bodies and subsequently due to the Covid-19 lockdown. As the lockdown restrictions were gradually relaxed, the government announced that the public exams will be conducted from July 10, by curtailing the number of papers from 11 to six. "We have accordingly started making arrangements but after a review of the situation, Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy suggested that we cancel the examinations and promote all the students," the Education Minister said. He said the advanced supplementary and improvement examinations for Intermediate (Class XI and X11) students, slated from July 11, were also being cancelled.

Unable to meet the deadlines set up by the <keyword id="6354977" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Supreme-Court">Supreme Court</keyword> for conducting and evaluating the intermediate (Class 12) <keyword id="78564" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Board-examinations">board examinations</keyword>, the <keyword id="37102" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Andhra-Pradesh">Andhra Pradesh</keyword> government on Thursday cancelled it as well as the Class 10 board <keyword id="6364702" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="examinations">examinations</keyword>. "It is impossible to complete the process of examinations by July 31, as directed by the Supreme Court. We have informed this matter to the Chief Minister," said Education Minister Adimulapu <keyword id="9999" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Suresh">Suresh</keyword>. He said that the apex Court gave leeway for the state to come up with a scheme of assessment within 10 days and complete examination process by July 31, which is not possible for the state. "Because of the tight schedule, it is not possible to conduct the exams. The government has cancelled Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) theory 2021 exams," he said, adding that it generally takes 45 days to complete this process and announce the results. Suresh said the scheme of evaluating marks for the cancelled intermediate examinations will be declared soon. A high-powered committee will decide the mechanism for awarding marks to students soon. Considering the prevailing circumstances, the state government has also cancelled Class 10 standard examinations. "Cancelling examinations is the second best option while the first option was always conducting the examinations," he added. According to the Minister, the Court also ordered the <keyword id="56459" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="University-Grants-Commission">University Grants Commission</keyword> (<keyword id="44171" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="UGC">UGC</keyword>) to not commence the admission process until the <keyword id="6356155" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="cbse">CBSE</keyword>, the <keyword id="6386146" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="icse">ICSE</keyword> and all the states declare their results for these exams by July 31. He said this decision has been taken to ensure that AP students will not be at a loss while taking admissions for undergraduate courses. However, Suresh said the government was prepared to conduct the exams always duly following the Covid protocols, which is not the case anymore considering the Court's deadlines. Board of Secondary Education, Andhra Pradesh, has announced the results of Class 10th(SSC) today. The overall pass percentage this year stood at 94.88%. Girls have outperformed boys, again. The overall pass percentage among girls was recorded as 95.09% while for boys, the pass percentage stood at 94.68%. Last year, the pass percentage for boys stood at 84.41% whereas the pass percentage among girls was higher than that of boys at 94.56%. The number of students that passed the class 10th board exams have increased, compared to last year. In 2018, over 600,000 students appeared for the exam with an overall pass percentage of 94.48%. UP Board Result 2019: Class 10th and 12th results declared, Gautam Raghuvanshi from Kanpur bagged the first rank

Twenty-three-year old <keyword id="3315781" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Shrikanth-Bolla">Shrikanth Bolla</keyword> has already achieved what most people of his age will take atleast years to achieve. That too, despite being blind. 
 He faced discrimination due to his disability early on in life. After he was born blind, his parents were advised by the villagers in Sitaramapuram in <keyword id="37102" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Andhra-Pradesh">Andhra Pradesh</keyword> to let him die. 
 
At school too, he was excluded from sports and pushed to sit in the last bench away from the whole class. That however did little to deter Shrikanth to excel in studies and topping in Class 10 Board exams in his cool. 
 
At the intermediate level, Shrikanth wanted to study science but he got a rude shock when the Andhra Pradesh Education Board refused to grant him permission, stating that Arts was the only stream the blind could opt for. 
 
Not one to give up, he filed a case and after a six-month long wait, the Board agreed to let him pursue Science. At the end of two years, Shrikanth topped Class 12, securing 98%. 
 
The discrimination refused to stop. Next up was<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=IIT&amp;sortorder=effectivedate"> IIT</a>. Shrikanth wanted to study engineering at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology but he was denied an admit card to the <keyword id="6354859" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="IIT">IIT</keyword> entrance examination. 
 
That’s when Shrikanth decided, “If IIT doesn’t want me, I don’t want IIT either!” 
 He then proceed to apply to schools in the United States for an undergraduate programme and ended up securing admission in four colleges- <keyword id="54274" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="MIT">MIT</keyword>, Stanford, Berkeley, and Carnegie Mellon. He eventually chose <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=mit&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">MIT</a>, becoming the school’s first international blind student. 
 
After graduating from MIT, Srikanth felt the need to do something about the lack of opportunities for the disabled in India. Thus, he gave up lucrative corporate opportunities in America, he returned to India and started Samanvai, a non-profit organisation based in Hyderabad with the aim to provide ‘individualized, need-based and goal-oriented support services to students with multiple disabilities.’ Additionally, he also provided tutorial services to such students by promoting Braille literacy and a printing press/library. He ended up mentoring and nurturing over 3,000 students. 
 Shrikanth wasn’t done just yet. Then in 2012, he decided to take up the issue of employability of the disabled, and thus started <keyword id="3314961" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bollant-Industries">Bollant Industries</keyword> Pvt. Ltd, which provides livelihood opportunities to the physically challenged. The company employs disabled and uneducated people to manufacture eco-friendly disposable packaging products. 
 
Today, Bollant employs over 150 disabled individuals and has five manufacturing units. Its annual sales have already crossed Rs. 70 million and the company is worth Rs 50 crore. 
 
Shrikanth is the living example of the fact that talent, hard work and determination can get you past any difficulties.

"All students of classes I to IX in all <keyword id="37180" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="schools">schools</keyword> under all managements shall be treated as pass and promoted to their next class, duly cancelling summative assessment - II <keyword id="6364702" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="examinations">examinations</keyword> for the academic year 2020-21," ordered principal secretary B. Rajsekhar on Monday. In the light of this development, summer vacation has been declared from Tuesday for these students. However, classes and examinations shall proceed as usual for 10th standard students as per the schedule already given, following all coronavirus protocols. "All teachers dealing with Class 10 shall attend the schools on all working days as per the schedule given by the headmaster concerned," said Rajsekhar. Meanwhile, the state government will distribute dry rations to eligible students of classes I to IX and serve mid-day meals to Class 10 students at the school to meet the nutritional requirements of children, aimed at safeguarding their immunity amid Covid. Andhra Pradesh promotes all students from classes 1 to 9 without exams

New Delhi, Jan 29 () Laminate manufacturer Greenlam Industries will invest Rs 175 crore to set up a manufacturing facility at Nellore in Andhra Pradesh, the company said on Wednesday.
The new unit would add 1.50 million laminate sheets/boards per annum of the company, Greenlam Industries said in a regulatory filing.
This is to cater the growing demands in the domestic and international markets, it added.
"We would like to inform you that the Board of Directors of Greenlam South Limited (GSL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Greenlam Industries, has approved to set up a manufacturing facility at Naidupeta, Nellore in Andhra Pradesh for manufacturing of Laminates and allied products," it said.
It would be financed through "mix of debt and capital infusion from Greenlam," it added.
GSL has been provisionally allotted by Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructural Corporation (APIIC), land admeasuring 65 acres approx in Naidupeta, Nellore, Andhra Pradesh. KRH MR

Government’s Common Admission Test to rope in 15 central universities from next year

Delhi boy <keyword id="3439623" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Deepanshu-Jindal">Deepanshu Jindal</keyword>, the topper of the prestigious <keyword id="1665948" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="IIT-JEE-Main">IIT-JEE Main</keyword> this year, says he wants to pursue higher education after graduation from IIT Delhi, and ultimately become an entrepreneur. 
 
"I want to pursue Computer Science Engineering from IIT Delhi. I am quite interested in Research and Development and would want to do entrepreneurship in R&amp;D," says Jindal. 
 
A student of SB Public School in the national capital, this lad took his<a href="http://www.pagalguy.com/articles/jee-main-2016-topper-deepanshu-jindal-chooses-iit-delhi-over-44532308"> IIT Coaching from Narayana IIT Academy</a>. 
 
You may be thinking he must have not taken his eyes of books, but Jindal says that's not been the case with him. He is a keen sports fan who plays cricket and football regularly to take the much-needed break from his hectic schedule. Apart from sports, Jindal also likes social networking and is quite active on Facebook, Google+ and WhatsApp. 
 He has secured 111 in Physics, 110 in Maths and 100 in chemistry in JEE Main, and 98.6% in Class 12 CBSE because of which his rank jumped from 20 to 1 after the normalisation process. Of the top 1,000 positions, 853 have been secured by boys and 147 by girls. Ryali Gayathri from Telangana has emerged on the top among girls, securing the 11th rank. 
 The <keyword id="3439624" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="All-India-Rankings">All India Rankings</keyword> are based on their JEE Main score (60 per cent weightage) and Class 12 scores (40 per cent weightage). Admissions to BE and B Tech courses in engineering institutions like NITs, IIITs are made on the basis of these rankings. 
 
Meanwhile, in another significant move for admission to the IITs - for which scores in IIT (Advanced) exam is the basis, the first list of allocation of seats for IITs will be released on July 1. 
 
Among boards, CBSE students have done well, getting 12 of the top 20 ranks. States boards like Telangana (6 of the top 20 positions), Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra too find students among toppers. 
 Around 11.28 lakh students had appeared for the <keyword id="75235" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="IIT-JEE">IIT JEE</keyword> Main exam, officials said, adding, results were announced a week in advance as compared to last year.
