Naidu made this announcement, addressing a joint meeting of TDP, BJP and Janasena legislators, where he was unanimously elected as NDA leader in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly. "In our government, there will be no games under the guise of three capitals. Our capital is Amaravati. Amaravati is the capital," asserted Naidu. As the first chief minister of bifurcated Andhra Pradesh between 2014 and 2019, he had floated the idea of Amaravati as the capital city. However, this brainchild of Naidu suffered a setback in 2019 when the TDP lost power and Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSRCP won a landslide victory. Reddy poured cold water on the <keyword id="3924608" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amaravati-capital" source="Orion">Amaravati capital</keyword> city plans and propounded a new theory of three capitals, which Naidu has now replaced with the decision to have a single capital. The NDA alliance of TDP, BJP and Janasena won a landslide victory in the recently concluded simultaneous Lok Sabha and assembly elections in the state with a brute majority of 164 assembly and 21 Lok Sabha seats. The triumph has breathed new life into the Amaravati capital city project.

Compared to their impressive vote share of nearly 50% in the 2019 assembly elections, YSRCP is facing a substantial setback, largely attributed to the compelling appeal of the alliance's promise of effective and progressive governance. In 2013, as a product of decades of political fervour and regional aspirations, <keyword id="19909031" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Telangana" source="keywords">Telangana</keyword> became India's newest state. It necessitated the redefinition of Andhra Pradesh's administrative centre. And former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had set his sights on <keyword id="19926152" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amaravati" source="keywords">Amaravati</keyword> as the new capital, envisioning a modern hub of governance. Amaravati, with its promise of modernity and progress, symbolised Naidu's vision for a dynamic Andhra Pradesh. Yet, with the changing of the political guard came a divergence in vision. The unexpected rise of <keyword id="19936253" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jagan-Mohan-Reddy" source="keywords">Jagan Mohan Reddy</keyword> in 2019 ushered in a completely new and audacious vision of <keyword id="21938308" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="three-capitals" source="keywords">three capitals</keyword>! The current CM of Andhra affiliated with the YSR Congress Party revealed his vision of establishing a three-city plan with Visakhapatnam, Amaravati, and Kurnool sharing governance roles. With Visakhapatnam for executive functions, Amaravati for legislative affairs, and Kurnool for judicial matters, this plan reflected a departure from the conventional wisdom of centralised governance. Reddy's vision, born from a desire to uplift all corners of the state, challenged the conventional wisdom that a single capital must bear the burden of governance. It was a bold experiment — one that seeked to rewrite the script of regional development. Yet, amidst the cacophony of political rhetoric and legal battles, the fate of Andhra Pradesh's administrative apparatus hung in a limbo. The High Court's intervention, compelling the state to honour the commitments made by its predecessor, added another layer of complexity to an already convoluted saga. In April 2024, Naidu asserted that should he come to power in Andhra, Amaravati would remain the enduring capital of the state, adding that the city embodied the pride of Telugu people. Speaking at a gathering in Tadikonda, Guntur district, during his Praja Galam public meetings, Naidu stated firmly, "This isn't just Tadikonda; this is Amaravati. I assure you all from this platform that no force can disrupt Amaravati's future. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, JSP president Pawan Kalyan, and I are committed to its development." Naidu also accused YSRC president and Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy of commencing his tenure by demolishing the 'Praja Vedika' (Grievance Hall). The 74-year-old legislator pledged to rebuild the Praja Vedika promptly upon regaining power. Meanwhile, the new CM of Andhra already has his work cut out for him. With Hyderabad's departure, a logistical domino effect has ensued — offices, assets, and infrastructure must find new homes. The bureaucratic machinery, once anchored in Hyderabad, now faces the challenge of redefining its locus. The fate of over 55 buildings, prime symbols of administrative authority, lies in the hands of policymakers. Andhra Assembly Election Results 2024: As TDP sweeps AP, dream of Amaravati as the ideal capital gains momentum

Nandyal (Andhra Pradesh) [India], September 9 (ANI): Former Andhra Pradesh chief minister and <keyword id="58641" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="TDP-chief" source="Orion">TDP chief</keyword> N <keyword id="6354350" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="chandrababu-naidu" source="Orion">Chandrababu Naidu</keyword> who was arrested Saturday morning on an alleged case of corruption said that the CID made the arrest without any proper information and that they refused to show him evidence. Talking to mediapersons ahead of police taking him into custody, Naidu said, I did not commit any malpractice or corruption. CID arrested me without any proper information and I asked them to show the evidence but they refused to show and attached my name to the FIR without my role." The TDP chief was taken into custody by the Andhra Pradesh Criminal Investigation Department (CID), in connection with alleged in the skill development scam case. A First Information Report (FIR) in the case was lodged in 2021. As police arrived early this morning to arrest the TDP Chief, they faced resistance from TDP cadres. A minor scuffle also broke out between officials and Naidu's supporters during his arrest. Naidu has been named as accused number 1 in the case, which involves over Rs 250 crore. Details of the FIR and other details were provided to Naidu's advocates, who also demanded prima facie evidence, pointing out that the former chief minister's name was not mentioned in the FIR report. The former Andhra Chief Minister has been charged under sections for criminal conspiracy, cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property. "It is to inform you that you have been arrested under CrPc's Sections 120(8), 166, 167, 418, 420, 465, 468, 471, 409, 201, 109 rw 34 and 37 IPC and other sections of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988," the notice issued under Section 50 (1) (2) of Criminal Procedure Code. According to details, Naidu was to be shifted to Nandyal Hospital for a medical examination. However, his medical check-up was conducted at a camp after he refused to go to the hospital. Naidu was taken to Vijayawada from Nandyal through the road. Earlier, there were reports that police would take him on the flight. The State Police also detained several party leaders including Naidu's son Nara Lokesh in East Godavari district as a preventive action to maintain the law and order situation in the state. (ANI)

Earlier today, ISRO briefly aborted the launch of the first uncrewed test flight (TV-D1 Flight Test) in the Gaganyaan Mission. The space agency then said that the errors have been identified and corrected and the second launch was scheduled for 10:00 Hrs today. This Flight test vehicle Abort mission is conducted to demonstrate the performance of the Crew escape system as part of the Gaganyaan mission. The mission objectives of the TV-D1 launch are: Flight demonstration and evaluation of Test Vehicle subsystems; flight demonstration and evaluation of Crew Escape System including various separation systems; crew module characteristics; and deceleration system demonstration at higher altitudes and its recovery. The Test Vehicle is a single-stage liquid rocket developed for this abort mission. The payloads consist of the Crew Module (CM) and Crew Escape Systems (CES) with their fast-acting solid motors, along with CM fairing (CMF) and Interface Adapters. This flight simulated the abort condition during the ascent trajectory corresponding to a Mach number of 1.2 encountered in the Gaganyaan mission. This mission represents a significant milestone in India's effort to demonstrate that it is possible to send humans into space. The Gaganyaan project envisages a demonstration of human spaceflight capability by launching a crew of three members into an orbit of 400 km for a 3-day mission and bringing them safely back to earth by landing in Indian waters. This programme will make India the fourth nation to launch a manned spaceflight mission after the US, Russia, and China. Building on the success of the Indian space initiatives, including the recent Chandrayan-3 and Aditya L1 missions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi directed that India should now aim for new and ambitious goals, including setting up 'Bharatiya Antariksha Station' (Indian Space Station) by 2035 and sending the first Indian to the Moon by 2040. ISRO successfully launches Test Flight Abort Mission for project Gaganyaan

On being asked about his plan to join the NDA, Naidu said 'it is not the right time'. "It's not the time to talk about joining the NDA government. I will talk about this at the right time," he said while talking to ANI. Naidu was speaking to ANI, after releasing the Vision-2047 document at a programme organised in this Port City on Tuesday evening. One of the founders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) - the <keyword id="79886" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="chandrababu" source="Orion">Chandrababu</keyword> Naidu-led Telugu Desam Party (TDP) had left in protest against the Centre's refusal to give special status to Andhra Pradesh. Naidu further said that his role is very clear for national politics in 2024. "My priority is Andhra Pradesh. It's my big agenda. I will prepare for the rebuilding and reconstruction of the state," the TDP chief said. Responding to the Amaravati capital issue, Naidu said, "You (CM Jagan <keyword id="85706" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="mohan-reddy" source="Orion">Mohan Reddy</keyword>) are sitting in assembly. You are sitting in the secretariat. Where are you conducting the cabinet meeting? Is it temporary? Everything got ready. We planned the world-class capital for Andhra Pradesh. I planned systematically one of the best ecosystems for Hyderabad for nine years." Notably, the unified state of Andhra Pradesh was bifurcated into Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in June 2014. As per the AP Reorganisation Act, Hyderabad became the capital of Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh had to find itself a new capital within ten years; until then, Hyderabad would serve as the capital for both states. In January this year, Jagan Mohan had announced that Visakhapatnam is going to be the capital with no mention of it in any state assembly discussion or on any official documents. Later, the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government had decided to make three capitals in different cities of the State in order to ensure development in all parts of the state. If any crime occurs, they falsely accuse the YSRCP. Even NTR was betrayed," said CM <keyword id="20041086" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="jagan-mohan" source="keywords">Jagan Mohan</keyword> Reddy. He alleged that Chandrababu and his associates have received direct support from one national party and indirect support from another. "They have even managed to gain support from my sister. I am alone. All these parties have allied to fight against me. I only have the support of the public and God," he said. He said that the YSRCP government has strived for good governance for the last fifty-eight months. Grama Sachivalayam and <keyword id="21108158" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ward-sachivalayam" source="keywords">Ward Sachivalayam</keyword> have been established across the state. "On the first of every month, beneficiaries receive pensions even if it is a holiday. Our volunteers distribute pensions to 66 lakh beneficiaries, which reflects YSRCP's commitment. We provide a pension of three thousand rupees, unmatched by any other state. It costs 24 thousand crores annually on pensions. Without corruption, beneficiaries directly receive pensions through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT)," said CM Jagan. He said that the English-medium language was implemented in government schools and starting with CBSE, the transformation was moved up to the International Baccalaureate (IB) syllabus. Tabs were distributed to the schoolchildren in every government school. He further said, "The Disha app is assisting women across the state. Village clinics have been established, and family doctors are working for the welfare of the people. This is all possible due to the efforts of the YSRCP government. Arogya Suraksha is visible in every village. New ambulances are serving the needy. Arogya Sri has been extended to provide treatment up to 25 lakhs for the weaker sections. Farmers are receiving free power and fee reimbursements for students." He further said that a lot of progress has been made in the span of 58 months by the YSRCP government. "Fifteen medical colleges are under construction, along with four seaports and ten fishing harbours. We have also improved airports and services. The foundation stone was laid for the Century Plywood industry in Badvel. All this progress has been made in the span of 58 months. I have pressed the button 130 times and disbursed 2 lakhs, 70 thousand crores of rupees to the beneficiaries under welfare schemes," he further said. He further appealed to the party workers that schemes should be explained door-to-door ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. "Every beneficiary woman speaks about the pension in both Chandra Babu Naidu's regime and our regime. If this level of service and welfare is to continue, Jagan must come into power. Not only pension but also if the welfare schemes should continue in the state, Jagan is the only person who can do it. There is jubilance at the party headquarters of YSR Congress Party as it has routed the ruling party Telugu Desam Party (TDP), in the state assembly elections. The party has 150 seats and leading in one more. TDP head Chandrababu Naidu submitted his resignation to the governor. However, it is also to be noted that TDP has a 39% vote share while YSRC has 50% share of the state’s votes. Reddy’s legwork Jagan Reddy has walked in late father Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s foothpath, literally. The senior Reddy of Congress party ended nine years of Naidu rule and extensive popularity in 2004, with a padyatra or a walking tour where he walked across every second village in the state. Jagan too had followed up with his father’s winning plan, with a <a href="https://www.ndtv.com/andhra-pradesh-news/jaganmohan-reddy-to-conclude-429-day-padyatra-in-andhra-pradesh-today-1974775" data-type="tilCustomLink" target="_blank">429-day padyatra</a> or a match-on-foot and has reportedly met 20 million of his voters along the way—something which helped him win the mandate with a thumping majority. The issues he took up with them were also high on voters’ minds. One question that Reddy repeatedly reiterated as to why Chandrababu Naidu the head of TDP was unable to get the state a special status in spite of his ‘closeness’ to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The state of Andhra Pradesh which lost its crown jewel Hyderabad, is on a rebuild mode after its division in 2014. In fact, Naidu broke away from National Democratic Alliance (NDA) over the issue, but that doesn’t seem to have placated the public. From Jail to CM’s post Not too long back, a few years soon after his father’s death in 2009, Jagan Reddy was embroiled in a CBI case which also involved his late father. The duo was accused of colluding and giving away licences and other mining rights to companies and accepting bribes in a disproportionate assets case. According to a CBI investigation, as much as <a href="https://www.thehindubusinessline.com/economy/rs-43000-cr-got-diverted-to-jagans-firms-cbi/article20458579.ece">Rs 43,000 crores were</a> diverted illegally into various businesses owned by him. The Reddy family have varied business interests across sectors like mining, cement, power along with investments in media companies. As a result of the intense crackdown on black money, Reddy was arrested in 2012 and spent around 16 months in jail. He was released on bail, and the case is still ongoing. A new party Last elections in 2014, YSR Congress was routed by the TDP-BJP combine. However, very few political pundits wrote off Jagan, especially after his thumping win at Kadapa by-elections in 2011 which shows that he had popular support. He had then won by a margin of five-and-a-half votes over his nearest Congress rival. Cracks between Rajesekhar Reddy’s heir apparent Jagan and party leader Sonia Gandhi emerged after she asked him to call off a ‘condolence tour’ that he went on, after his father’s death. The tour came at a time when tensions were ride on the Telangana state division issue. However, Jagan went ahead while defying the new Congress chief minister in power K Rosaiah, and resigned as the party MP in 2010. Soon after, Jagan took over the reins of the YSR Congress party formed by a fan of his father, and finally led it to its success. One of Y S R Reddy’s poll promises were free electricity and a health insurance programme and reinvigorated a provide rice for Rs 2 per kilo. While his predecessor Naidu concentrated on development, Reddy had successfully countered it with social welfare schemes, winning him two mandates in 2004 and 2009. With populist schemes, YSR soon turned a regional strongman with his stature elevated to that of a messiah --- which only swelled after his accidental death in 2009.
