Nandyal (Andhra Pradesh) [India], September 9 (ANI): Former Andhra Pradesh chief minister and <keyword id="58641" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="TDP-chief" source="Orion">TDP chief</keyword> N <keyword id="6354350" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="chandrababu-naidu" source="Orion">Chandrababu Naidu</keyword> who was arrested Saturday morning on an alleged case of corruption said that the CID made the arrest without any proper information and that they refused to show him evidence. Talking to mediapersons ahead of police taking him into custody, Naidu said, I did not commit any malpractice or corruption. CID arrested me without any proper information and I asked them to show the evidence but they refused to show and attached my name to the FIR without my role." The TDP chief was taken into custody by the Andhra Pradesh Criminal Investigation Department (CID), in connection with alleged in the skill development scam case. A First Information Report (FIR) in the case was lodged in 2021. As police arrived early this morning to arrest the TDP Chief, they faced resistance from TDP cadres. A minor scuffle also broke out between officials and Naidu's supporters during his arrest. Naidu has been named as accused number 1 in the case, which involves over Rs 250 crore. Details of the FIR and other details were provided to Naidu's advocates, who also demanded prima facie evidence, pointing out that the former chief minister's name was not mentioned in the FIR report. The former Andhra Chief Minister has been charged under sections for criminal conspiracy, cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property. "It is to inform you that you have been arrested under CrPc's Sections 120(8), 166, 167, 418, 420, 465, 468, 471, 409, 201, 109 rw 34 and 37 IPC and other sections of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988," the notice issued under Section 50 (1) (2) of Criminal Procedure Code. According to details, Naidu was to be shifted to Nandyal Hospital for a medical examination. However, his medical check-up was conducted at a camp after he refused to go to the hospital. Naidu was taken to Vijayawada from Nandyal through the road. Earlier, there were reports that police would take him on the flight. The State Police also detained several party leaders including Naidu's son Nara Lokesh in East Godavari district as a preventive action to maintain the law and order situation in the state. (ANI)

Amaravati (<keyword id="37102" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="andhra-pradesh" source="Orion">Andhra Pradesh</keyword>) [India], September 14 (ANI): Amid protests over the arrest of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief <keyword id="70808" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="n-chandrababu-naidu" source="Orion">N Chandrababu Naidu</keyword>, the Additional DG of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Wednesday said the money trail is "very clearly seen" adding that it is a very clear case of government funds transferred and the project of purpose never happened. "In this case, a government corporation was formed and it was exclusively formed for this purpose of skill development and the proposal was moved by some private individuals...The money trail is very clearly seen," Additional DG of CID Sanjay told ANI. Further, DIG Sanjay said, "You see the role of the ED also in this when they moved in and arrested a few people. So this is a very clear case of government money being transferred and the project itself never happened... How the money went into shell companies and all, is again part of the investigation. So further investigation will reveal the exact end-to-end tie-ups." <keyword id="6354350" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="chandrababu-naidu" source="Orion">Chandrababu Naidu</keyword> was sent to judicial custody on Sunday for 14 days, till September 23, by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) court in Vijayawada in connection with an alleged Skill Development Corporation scam. Earlier, TDP workers held a protest on Monday in Chittoor against the arrest and judicial custody of the TDP chief in the alleged skill development case. On Monday State Police also tried to detain several party leaders including TDP MLC Kancherla Srikanth in Chittoor district as a preventive action to maintain law and order in the state. Protests were also held in Tirupati and West Godavari districts against the arrest and judicial custody of Chandrababu <keyword id="6362898" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="naidu" source="Orion">Naidu</keyword>. The case in which Naidu is arrested pertains to the establishment of clusters of Centers of Excellence (CoEs) in the state of Andhra Pradesh, with a total estimated project value of Rs 3300 crore, as per the officials. The agency officials also claimed that the alleged fraud has caused a huge loss to the state government in excess of Rs 300 crore. As per the CID, the investigation has revealed serious irregularities such as before any expenditure by private entities, the then state government provided an advance of Rs 371 crores, representing the entire 10 per cent commitment by the government. Most of the money advanced by the government was diverted to shell companies through fake invoices, with no actual delivery or sale of the items mentioned in the invoices, CID officials said. In its remand report, the CID has said that according to the investigation so far, the total amount spent by private entities on six skill development clusters is sourced exclusively from funds advanced by the Government of Andhra Pradesh and the Andhra Pradesh Skill Development Centre, totalling Rs 371 crore.

The hunger strike in Delhi comes one day ahead of the <keyword id="6354977" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="supreme-court" source="Orion">Supreme Court</keyword> hearing which is scheduled on Tuesday in which the SC will hear a plea of TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu challenging the Andhra Pradesh High Court order in dismissing a petition for quashing the FIR against him in the Andhra Pradesh skill development scam which was filed by Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Andhra Pradesh based on the complaint filed by the ruling <keyword id="18985704" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="ysr-congress-mla-a-ramakrishna-reddy" source="Orion">YSR Congress MLA A Ramakrishna Reddy</keyword>. In his plea, Naidu contended that the Andhra Pradesh High Court had rejected his petition by ignoring his pleading that under Section 17A of the PC Act, which came into force on July 26, 2018, no FIR against a public servant could be registered without prior sanction of the appropriate authority.
