New Delhi, May 27 () Super 30 coaching fame Anand Kumar will work with CSC e-governance Services India Ltd to help prepare students in rural areas for IIT-JEE examination for a fee of Re 1, the e-governance firm said on Wednesday. Noted mathematician Kumar will develop a course module online to train students from weak financial backgrounds for the Indian Institute of Technology-Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE). "The thrust would be on developing inquisitiveness which is very important for science and mathematics education. With the help of CSC, an IIT- JEE entrance exam module will be prepared which will be made available to students in rural India in just Re 1," Kumar said during his online interaction with rural students through common service centres. CSC e-Governance India Services manages around 3 lakh common service centres across the country that provide government services in rural area and small towns. Kumar said he helps students from economically backward sections preparing for IIT JEE by providing study materials and lodging for a year and his mother prepares food for them. "With the help of CSC, we will prepare online study material for children living in rural areas who cannot afford expensive coaching. It would guide students through innovative teaching modules to develop their interest in Mathematics and Science subjects at an early age," he said. A small town girl from Uttar Pradesh who used to sell newspapers and magazines is an <keyword id="6354859" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="IIT">IIT</keyword> graduate today. Shivangi recently graduated from IIT Roorkee. 
 
She used to study at a government school in her native village Deha. Her father is a newspaper and magazine vendor and Shivangi used to help her father in his small shop. In whatever little time she could save after the shop work, she used to dedicate it to her studies. 
 Shivangi's inspiring story was recently shared by <keyword id="6359545" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Anand-Kumar">Anand Kumar</keyword>, founder of the Super 30 initiative where children from disadvantaged backgrounds are provided coaching for the IIT-JEE examination. 
 
He said she read about Anand's Super 30 success and moved to Patna to take coaching from him. Gradually, she came very close to Anand’s family. 
 
“She would address my mother as ‘dadi’ and we felt she is our daughter. Whenever my mother’s health was impaired, she would help and sleep next to her. Looking at Shivangi, my mother hoped to be blessed with girls in her next birth as well,” wrote Kumar in his post.

New Delhi, Mar 27 () The government has decided to give more time to renewable energy (RE) projects for completion of work in the wake of the 21-day lockdown to fight COVID-19. According to a statement by the renewable energy ministry, the spread of coronavirus has not only disrupted the supply chain of components used in RE projects but has also impacted the availability of workforce. In this context, the announcement of the extension of time will provide great relief to all the stakeholders in RE sector, it said."MNRE Secretary Anand Kumar has stated that all RE projects under implementation will be given extension of time considering period of lockdown and time required for remobilisation of work force," the statement issued on Thursday said.As per the rules, RE developers have to complete the projects in a time-bound manner. As there are several boards of education in the country, the board marks are "normalized" on percentile basis through a formula. Kumar suggested to do away with the weightage of plus-two marks in the JEE exams to the IITs. 
 
"The students from poor families study in government schools and their standards, vis-a-vis public schools are well known. If such children can make their way to IITs despite all odds, given the condition they are studying in and with the current IIT admission procedure, scrapping the plus-two weightage will only encourage more capable students to apply in IITs,” he says. 
 
He also sought some special training programmes for school teachers to prepare them for effective classroom engagement that could contribute to holistic growth of school children in villages. 
 
Voicing concern for the falling education standards, Kumar further suggested the recruitment process for secondary and higher secondary schools to be standardized for able faculty to be hired.

New Delhi, May 28 () Vaccine maker Indian Immunologicals Limited on Thursday said it has launched classical swine fever vaccine for pigs in the country This cell culture technology-based vaccine has been developed in collaboration with the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Bareilly, Indian Immunologicals Limited (IIL) said in a statement. The classical swine fever is a highly contagious viral disease of pigs caused by an RNA virus and has a high fatality rate, it added. The company, however, did not provide any details about the price of the vaccine. The current requirement of a vaccine for this disease is about 220 lakh doses and the supply is less than 10 lakh doses, IIL said. The company's vaccine under the brand name 'Raksha Class' offers distinct advantages in terms of safety and can be scaled up in cell cultures to meet entire country's requirements, it added. "The classical swine fever is one of the major diseases of pigs in India. It causes a loss of about Rs. 400 crore per annum in India. The disease has led to a decrease of pig population in the country. With the launch of Raksha Class, we can ensure that the pig population in India can be increased and hence, the growers will be immensely benefited economically," IIL Managing Director K Anand Kumar said. Indian Immunologicals launches classical swine fever vaccine

New Delhi, Jan 17 () Adani Green Energy and Azure Power have emerged as successful bidders in Solar Energy Corporation of India's first manufacturing-linked solar tender, a top government official said on Friday.
 Adani has bid for 1.5 GW solar cell manufacturing capacity and 6 GW generation capacity, MNRE Secretary Anand Kumar said on the sidelines of India Energy Forum-Renewable Energy Summit here.
 He also said that Azure Power bid for 500 MW solar cell manufacturing capacity and 2 GW generation capacity.
 With the green shoe option, the capacity for Adani would increase to 2 GW of solar cell manufacturing capacity and 8 GW generation capacity, Kumar said.
 For Azure, with green shoe option, it will be 1,000 solar cell manufacturing and 4 GW generation capacity, he added.
 "The bids have been finalised and only paperwork remains," he said adding that the tariff has been fixed at Rs 2.92.
 After successful auction, an investment of around Rs 6,000 crore is expected for setting up 1 GW of solar manufacturing facilities, which would generate permanent direct employment of up to 10,000 people, a source said.
 At present, India imports 95 per cent of its solar module requirement from China, leading to a forex outflow of around USD 10 billion per year. ABI SID ANS

Gateway Partners to pick up stake in TVS SCS for USD 100 mn

New Delhi, Dec 10 () The government has assured renewable energy developers of providing more business-friendly environment and policies like payment secuirty mechanism to lower risk on investment. 
 "Government is committed to managing curtailments to enhance the ease of doing business for developers in the renewable energy sector," New and Renewable Energy Secretary Anand Kumar said on the sidelines of the ongoing Madrid Climate Conference (CoP25) at Madrid in Spain late Monday.
 A payment security mechanism to de-risk investments in renewable has also been been put in place, and on the demand side, the ministry is working with farmers and commercial and industrial (C and I) consumers to embed them into the renewables value chain as direct stakeholders, he was quoted as saying in a release by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
 At the summit, the official also informed about India's 175 GW renewable energy capacity by 2022 and said 83 GW has already been installed, and additional 70 GW capacity is under fruition.
The MNRE aims to bid out the balance capacities for solar and wind by June 2020, giving developers 30 months to complete deployment, Kumar said.
"Kumar (also) underlined the need for catalysing private investment and expand India's clean energy market through innovative risk mitigation and aggregation instruments. He stated that the additional investments in renewable up to year 2022 would be about USD 80 billion at today's prices and an investment of around USD 300 billion would be required up to 2030," the statement said
The official also briefed about the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evem Utthan Mahabhiyan (PM- KUSUM) Scheme for farmers to install solar pumps and grid connected renewable power plants, targeting 26GW capacity and 1.7 million farmers by 2022. ABI ABI MR
