New Delhi, Chemicals maker <keyword id="10487971" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Anupam-Rasayan" source="Orion">Anupam Rasayan</keyword> India Ltd on Tuesday posted a marginal increase of 1.84 per cent in consolidated net profit at Rs 48.69 crore in the second quarter of the current fiscal year. The company's net profit stood at 47.81 crore in the same quarter of the previous year, according to a regulatory filing. Total income rose to Rs 395.61 crore during the July-September quarter of the 2023-24 fiscal, from Rs 383.14 crore in the year-ago period. Expenses remained slightly higher at Rs 324.94 crore in the period under review, as against Rs 315.72 crore in the said period. "Amidst the challenging external environment, I am happy that we have been able to hold our ground and deliver some growth," said Anupam Rasayan Managing Director Anand Desai. In the first half of the current fiscal, total revenue rose to Rs 794.4 crore, reflecting a robust year-over-year growth of 11 per cent. Our strong margins at 28 per cent for the first half this year are a testament to the company's unique business model, he said. During this quarter, the company launched three new molecules, bringing the total to five by the end of H1 of the 2023-24 fiscal, he said, adding "we will launch an additional five molecules by the close of FY24." Desai further said, "we are seeing a resurgence in demand, which instills confidence of delivering growth in coming quarters. This bolsters our confidence in achieving consistent growth and maintaining our margin profile." The company has also signed three memorandum of understanding (MoUs) with the Gujarat government for afforestation in a bid to balance carbon emissions and achieve energy neutrality by 2027. Anupam Rasayan said the board has approved issuance of 19.04 lakh equity shares on a preferential basis to promoters and 39.14 lakh convertible warrants on preferential basis to non-promoters. The Gujarat-based company has a manufacturing capacity of 27,200 tonnes spread over six facilities.

<keyword id="31278" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Lata-Mangeshkar" source="Orion">Lata Mangeshkar</keyword>, India's most loved singer who had once moved Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru to tears, leaves behind a teary-eyed nation of admirers who grew up listening to her immutable voice give wings to the words of poets and the screen careers of legions of heroines. India's Melody Queen, who also composed music for Marathi films and was a producer as well, and had the distinction of being conferred with the highest civilian honours of India and France, passed away on Sunday morning at the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai, where she had been admitted because of Covid-related complications on January 11. Lata Didi, as she was known among her family and followers, was 92 and is survived by her siblings -- playback singer and composer Meena Khadilkar, popular singer and restaurateur Asha Bhosale, singer <keyword id="146736" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Usha-Mangeshkar" source="Orion">Usha Mangeshkar</keyword>, and music director Hridayanath Mangeshkar. She never married, but was close to the late Raj Singh Dungarpur, the aristocratic former cricketer and President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) from 1996 to 1999. One of India's most loved voices, Lata Mangeshkar was the recipient of three National Film Awards, seven Filmfare awards, and of course, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1989. She was conferred the Bharat Ratna in 2001, becoming the second singer after M.S. Subbulakshmi to be so honoured, and the French awarded her the Officer of the Legion of Honour. In 1974, Lata Mangeshkar became the first Indian to perform at the Royal Albert Hall, London. She had indeed come a long, long way since the time when the first song that she recorded for a film -- 'Kiti Hasaal' in 1942 -- was dropped in the final cut. Born in what was then the princely state of Indore on September 28, 1929, to the classical singer, Marathi theatre actor and writer of musical plays Deenanath Mangeshkar and his wife Shevanti (Shudhamati), Lata Mangeshkar was originally named Hema by her parents, but they later changed it to Lata after the character Latika from one of her father's musical plays. Lata Mangeshkar's association with the performing arts began when she was five and started appearing in her father's musical plays, and it continued even after her father's premature death in 1942, thanks to his good friend, the actor and director Master Vinayak (Vinayak Damodar Karnataki), who took the family under his wings. It was Master Vinayak who took Lata Mangeshkar to Mumbai, paved her way into the world of Marathi cinema, got her to take Hindustani classical music lessons from Ustad Aman Ali Khan of the Bhendi Bazaar Gharana, and introduced her to Vasant Desai, V. Shantaram's favourite music composer. But it was not until Master Vinayak's death in 1948 that the struggling singer-actor found the person whom she considered to be her "godfather" -- the music composer Ghulam Haider, who gave Lata Mangeshkar her first big break with the song 'Dil Mera Toda, Mujhe Kahin Ka Na Chhora' in the movie 'Majboor' (1948). It was her first big break. Haider took his protege to Shashadhar Mukherjee, the Filmistan boss now better known as Kajol and Rani Mukherjee's grandfather, for his film, 'Shaheed' (1948), but he turned her down because he found her voice to be "too thin". Lata Mangeshkar proved him oh-so wrong just a year later when her song 'Aayega Aanewaala', filmed on the gorgeous Madhubala in Kamal Amrohi's debut directorial, 'Mahal' (1949), became an ageless hit. And in one of life's delicious ironies, Mukherjee's grand-daughter lip-synced the 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' song, 'Mere Khwabon Mein', which was sung by none other than Lata Mangeshkar, as well as the other numbers picturised on her and Shah Rukh Khan. Since 'Mahal', Lata Mangeshkar was courted by just about every music director of note -- from Anil Biswas to S.D. Burman (and his son Rahul Dev, whose first and last song she sang), Naushad (who had asked her to sing like the then reigning nightingale, Noorjehan), Madan Mohan, Shankar-Jaikishan, Laxmikant-Pyarelal (for whom she's said to have sung 700 songs in 35 years), and Kalyanji-Anandji. And she worked with every contemporary composer of note -- from Anand-Milind, sons of Chitragupt, with whom she had also worked, and Anu Malik, Sardar Malik's son, to Ilaiyaraaja and A.R. Rahman. It is said she worked with music directors from 13 states in her star-studded career. After Noorjehan moved to Pakistan, Lata Mangeshkar became the go-to playback singer for every film producer and music composer. She did not disappoint them. Lata Mangeshkar lent her voice to an endless succession of chart-topping numbers in Hindi cinema, from 'Allah Tero Naam' and 'Rangeela Re' to the 'Satyam Shivam Sundaram' title track, to 'Lukka Chuppi' in 'Rang De Basanti', apart from songs in Marathi (she also composed the music for several Marathi films in her 'Anandghan' avatar), Bengali, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Sinhala. In 1974, the Guinness Book of Records listed Lata Mangeshkar as the most recorded artiste in human history, stating that she had recorded "not less than 25,000 solo, duet and chorus-backed songs in 20 Indian languages" between 1948 and 1974. The claim was contested by her long-time rival, Mohammad Rafi, who claimed to have sung around 28,000 songs. After Rafi's death, the Guinness Book in its 1984 edition listed Lata Mangeshkar in its entry for 'Most Recordings', but it also recorded Rafi's claim. Later editions of the Guinness Book said Lata Mangeshkar had sung no less than 30,000 songs from 1948 to 1987. For 73 years, from 1943 to 2015, when she recorded her last song for a film (the Indo-Norwegian production, 'Dunno Y2...Life Is A Moment', which was all about gay love), Lata Mangeshkar commanded a fan following and an inimitable reputation with not many parallels in the Indian performing arts. The late Yash Chopra, who was one of Lata Mangeshkar's favourite directors, said in an article he had penned for BBC.com on the occasion of the singer's 75th birthday (not longer after she had sung the famous 'Veer Zaara' song, 'Tere Liye Hum Hain Jiye', with Roop Kumar Rathod): "I see God's blessing in her voice." Steven Sinofsky, a <keyword id="2128830" type="POSITION" weightage="40" keywordseo="key-executive">key executive</keyword> who resigned from <keyword id="10387" type="CITY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Microsoft">Microsoft</keyword>, and Conan O’Brien, who had an alleged fallout with NBC, have both signed severance agreements containing such clauses. Albeit this is linked to severance payout, and O’Brien was reportedly paid a cool $32.5 million. 
 With 10 crore <keyword id="6354576" type="CITY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Facebook">Facebook</keyword> users and more than three crore active <keyword id="6354616" type="CITY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Twitter">Twitter</keyword> accounts in the country, <keyword id="46431" type="CITY" weightage="40" keywordseo="India-Inc">India Inc</keyword> is now following suit. As Shivaram T, HR leader at SAP Labs, India, points out, “In today’s networked <keyword id="6356826" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="environment">environment</keyword>, negative remarks spread quickly and have a multiplier effect. Thus companies are moving towards having legally watertight clauses in employee agreements, which protect the company, its brand, customers and other stakeholders.” 
 Most likely to bad-mouth a firm are former employees so companies are making severance agreements of key employees tighter. “We have increasingly seen use of non-disparagement clause linked to exit packages in severance agreements with senior employees. We are also seeing a trend of including non-disparagement clauses in new <keyword id="6420527" type="POSITION" weightage="40" keywordseo="executive">executive</keyword> employment agreements. Automatically, employees would be under an obligation to comply with the clause on exit,” says Anand Mehta, partner, <keyword id="558469" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Khaitan-Co">Khaitan &amp; Co</keyword>, a law firm. A few years ago, during a top-level shake up at Diageo India, newspaper reports indicate that non-disparagement clauses were adopted. 
 
“In most cases, when top-level employees exit, they prefer to negotiate a mutual non-disparagement clause under which even the company is prohibited from disparaging and harming the interests of the outgoing employee,” says Vikram Shroff, head, HR law at Nishith Desai Associates. 
 
“We have also seen cases where the PR and legal teams of a company work with the exiting employee and draft joint release statements for both internal and external communications,” adds Nohid Nooreyezdan, partner at law firm AZB &amp; Partners. 
 
In the US, there are stray instances of employees challenging use of non-disparagement clauses. The Indian Constitution also guarantees freedom of speech. “However, it also allows reasonable restrictions to be placed on exercise of the right to free speech if it could lead to defamation,” explains Shroff. So far, non-disparagement clauses haven’t been challenged in court and appear to be here to stay. 
 
Some companies are detailing their social media policies in their offer letter itself. “Our social media policy is part of our offer letter. RPG’s code of ethics, which is signed by all employees on joining, provides that no employee should post any defamatory comments about the company, its employees, clients and associates. Sharing of proprietary information of the company or its clients is also prohibited. Under this code, even ex-employees cannot engage in activities that could affect the company’s interest,” says Arvind Agrawal, president HR, RPG Enterprises. 
 
“Often employees make comments in jest or in a fit of frustration. These policies help educated them on appropriate usage of social media platforms," says Mohandas Pai, chairman, Manipal Global Education. 
 “In addition, access to social media sites within office premises can be curtailed or monitored via an IT security system,” adds Amit Das, chief HR <keyword id="46129" type="POSITION" weightage="40" keywordseo="officer">officer</keyword> at <keyword id="46907" type="CITY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Reliance-communications">Reliance Communications</keyword>. At Reliance Communications, access within <keyword id="94523" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="40" keywordseo="The-Office">the office</keyword> is available only to select social media sites that meet the specified business requirements. To prevent undesired behavior after office hours, the company also has an exhaustive social media policy in place. For example, employees are required to abide by national and international copyright laws or those governing libel or defamation. They cannot make personal comments about other employees or the company on networking sites. Social media policies adopted by companies even prescribe for disciplinary action in case of errant behaviour, such as at SAP Labs. HR personnel also caution against the use of anonymous accounts, as the culprits can always be traced.
