Kuldeep Yadav Begins New Innings as Brand Ambassador of Real11

<keyword id="1583080" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="AirAsia-India">AirAsia India</keyword>, which started its domestic operation in June this year, has posted a loss of around Rs 29 crore for the July-September quarter (Q2). The airline had come up with various lucrative offers to woo passengers. 
 Entrepreneur Tony Fernandes-led <keyword id="2202187" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="AirAsia-Berhad">AirAsia Berhad</keyword> reported the loss in its September quarter earnings report that was issued on November 19. AirAsia Berhad has a 49% stake in the Indian carrier. The other stakeholders in the Indian venture are Tata Sons and entrepreneur <keyword id="81616" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amit-Bhatia">Amit Bhatia</keyword>. However, the Malaysian company did not reveal the revenues earned by AirAsia India. 
 
AirAsia Berhad revealed that its Indian subsidiary is planning to add more aircrafts to its existing fleet and will also come up with a second hub in Goa. “In India, they (AirAsia India) will likely add two more aircraft in December, bringing it to a total of four aircraft,” it said. 
 It is important to note that the passenger load factor recorded by AirAsia India has fallen sharply since June. According to the data available with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), AirAsia India’s load factor, which stood at 80% in June, fell to 69.8% in July, 73% in August, 68.7% in September and 76.2% in October. However, its competitors such as <keyword id="6354706" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indigo">IndiGo</keyword> and <keyword id="6358032" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="SpiceJet">SpiceJet</keyword> maintained a load factor of over 75% during the same period. 
 
AirAsia Berhad, which is also planning to fly to Delhi and Mumbai, is optimistic about the future growth of its Indian subsidiary. Now, it remains to be seen whether the carrier will post a profit in the next quarter.

AirAsia India Registers Q2 Loss At Rs 29 Crore

BANGALORE: Indian entrepreneurs have worked out that innovative mobile-based technologies race the fastest to the one-million dollar revenue mark with little capital. 
 
These entrepreneurs develop the products--including mobile applications--within a month's time and then push for international acceptance. Once validated globally, the products lead to soaring revenues in quick time. 
 
Take the case of Nischal Shetty, for instance. It took just four weeks for the 29 year old to build JustUnfollow. Through this, enterprises (and others) can find out their inactive followers on Twitter and also how many have unfollowed them. 
 
This allows companies to give their undivided attention on potential customers. The Mumbai based company has already crossed Rs 6 crore in revenue by providing this technology to eight million users worldwide. 
 Shetty, who worked at review site <keyword id="2440589" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="40" keywordseo="Burrp">Burrp</keyword>, launched the firm with a seed capital of Rs 30,000. JustUnfollow charges clients between $10 (Rs 600) and $200 (Rs 12,000) a month based on requirements. 
 The startup expects to touch a topline of Rs 60 crore in a year. And industry leaders like <keyword id="11323" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Sabeer-Bhatia">Sabeer Bhatia</keyword> are bullish. 
 “With Indian mobile-first companies, I am bullish on their prospects to make a mark globally ,“ said Bhatia who sold Hotmail to <keyword id="10387" type="CITY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Microsoft">Microsoft</keyword> for $400 million (Rs 2,400 crore) in 1997. “The categories where I believe mobile-first Indian startups will do well are communication and enterprise." 
 Last December Bhatia, along with mobile advertising firm <keyword id="164941" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="inMobi">InMobi</keyword> cofounder Amit Gupta and <keyword id="192167" type="CITY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Qualcomm-Ventures">Qualcomm Ventures</keyword> invested $600,000 (Rs 3.6 crore) in Deck. The Bangalore-based firm enables users to make smart PowerPoint presentations through their mobile device. 
 
Sumanth Raghavendra, 40, founder, said Deck's technology also adjusts automatically with available lighting. The firm, which built its first product in four months, has gained one million users globally and is profitable. It expects to cross Rs 6 crore in revenue by next year. 
 
“These startups showcase the blend of proof of traction, superior product thinking and capital efficiency," said Rahul Chandra, managing director of venture capital fund Helion Advisors. 
 
About 88% of Indian entrepreneurs in the mobility space are building solutions that are ‘mobile first’ and not mere transitions from the web world. 
 
This was evident in a survey of 100 entrepreneurs, building solutions focused on both enterprises and consumers, done by Helion. 
 
“India has domestic market advantage due to mobile, unlike services market, they had no domestic market,” said Amit Gupta, cofounder of mobile advertising firm InMobi. 
 
Similarly, Pune-based Scandid founded by former Microsoft engineers Sushil Choudhari and Madhur Khandelwal enables shoppers do price comparison in real time by scanning barcodes with their mobile phones. 
 
“Our revenue has more than doubled after going mobile," said Choudhari, 33, who expects to achieve revenue of Rs 6 crore by next year. 
 
The company pivoted to the mobile platform last August.

InMobi’s Gupta said products that took two years to develop, now takes just six months due to advances in technology and rising demand within the country. 
 
The domestic market is what Bangalore-based local discovery and commerce platform Wooplr is betting on. It helps shoppers discover new products from local offline stores around them based on interest, location and through recommendations from friends. 
 
“Now you can know a particular local store on Richmond Road (in Bangalore) that sells a particular keychain,” said Arjun Abraham Zacharia, 32-year-old Wooplr chief executive, who cofounded the firm in 2012 along with his three colleagues at security firm McAfee. Wooplr now helps over half a million users across Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi make shopping decisions. 
 
“The fact that there is now a large local market for mobile first companies in India itself opens up a new vector to achieve scale domestically before expanding globally,” Bhatia said.

The amount of compensation isn't dependent on the title but on how much effort they anticipate the task will require."In our opinion, this is a requirement for a truly inclusive interview process," he said. For example, some candidates may need to pay for childcare to focus and perform their best on the test."Whereas some candidates may have the financial and personal flexibility to invest time to produce a quality work demonstration, others may not, which could place undue stress or harm on their candidacy," Bhatia added."Candidates who are normally reticent to invest in a work demonstration are elated to hear they will be compensated," he added. <h2 id="7088dcbf-73bb-4e46-8a6b-1cd4e29fefdf">Experts aren't sure it'll become the norm anytime soon</h2>Despite this, it's not yet a norm across hiring practices, and some experts don't think it'll catch on."I think it won't become a norm anytime soon," Carolin Chmielewski, the founder of talent acquisition agency Talent Cove, told BI. How the Ambani wedding weighs up against some famous, expensive, big fat Indian weddings

New Delhi, Jul 6 () Paytm, owned by One 97 Communications Ltd, along with its founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma will acquire Mumbai-based private sector general insurance company Raheja QBE, a company statement said. "Raheja QBE is owned 51 per cent by Prism Johnson and 49 per cent by QBE Australia. Paytm is set to acquire both stakes and would own 100 per cent of the company," Paytm said in a statement. The company, however, did not disclose the financial details of the transactions. The acquisition is subject to customary conditions, including approval from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), the statement added. Meanwhile, Prism Johnson Ltd, formerly Prism Cement Ltd, in a separate statement said its board has approved selling its entire 51 per cent stake in its general insurance joint venture Raheja QBE General Insurance Company Ltd (RQBE) to Paytm and Vijay Shekhar Sharma for about Rs 290 crore. In a regulatory filing Prism Johnson said its board has approved divestment of 51 per cent of the paid-up equity share capital in RQBE, a material subsidiary, to QORQL Pvt Ltd for an aggregate consideration of Rs 289.68 crore. QORQL Pvt Ltd, is a technology company with majority shareholding of Vijay Shekhar Sharma and remaining held by Paytm. "It is an important milestone in Paytm's financial services journey, and we are very excited to welcome Raheja QBE General Insurance into the Paytm family. "Its strong management team will help us accelerate our journey of taking insurance to the large population of India with the aim to create a tech-driven, multi-channel general insurance company with innovative and affordable insurance products," said Amit Nayyar, President at Paytm. Commenting on the development, QBE Australia Pacific Chief Executive Officer, Vivek Bhatia said, "today's announcement marks both a continuation of QBE's strategy to simplify our business and the beginning of a new &amp; exciting chapter for our strong team at Raheja QBE." Prism Johnson said the consideration to be received by the company for the divestment is subject to certain adjustments which may be carried out between the date of execution of definitive agreement and closure of the sale, and other customary terms for a sale of such nature. The divestment will result in the termination of the company's joint-venture with Australia's QBE in the general insurance business in India. Post the Divestment, RQBE will also cease to be a subsidiary of the company," Prism Johnson added. (Eds: combining related stories) New Delhi, Jun 18 () As India recorded its biggest single-day jump of 12,881 COVID-19 cases, the testing strategy was expanded with the launch of a rapid antigen-based diagnostic tool here on Thursday amid an assertion by Prime Minister Narendra Modi the country is not going to "sit and wail" over the coronavirus crisis. With testing remaining a cornerstone in the fight against COVID-19, Union Science and Technology Minister Harsh Vardhan also launched the first mobile laboratory for coronavirus diagnosis which can be deployed in rural areas and help in promoting last-mile testing. According to the Union Health Ministry data, India's COVID-19 tally rose to 3,66,946 while the death toll climbed to 12,237 with 334 new fatalities. The fatality rate has risen from 2.8 to 3.3 per cent in the last two days. From June 1 till 18, the country saw a surge of 1,76,411 coronavirus cases with Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh, which are the five worst affected states, accounting for the rising tally. The recovery rate is currently around 53 per cent. As cases spike in the national capital and in the satellite towns, Union Home Minister Amit Shah favoured a unified strategy for Delhi and NCR, and said suburban cities like Gurgaon, Noida and Ghaziabad can't be separated from the national capital in the battle against the pandemic. "India will not only fight against coronavirus, but will also win the battle and move forward. India is not going to sit and wail over the crisis," Modi said at an event to mark the launch of commercial coal block mining. Modi also went on to say that howsoever big the crisis might be, the country is determined to turn it into an opportunity. "This coronavirus crisis has given India lessons in being Atmanirbhar, that is, Self-Reliant!" The rapid antigen-based test on swabbed nasal samples will allow infected patients to be diagnosed much faster, at lower rates and without laboratory examination. It will help cover a large population in a short span of time and with quick results authorities can modify their strategies accordingly. The Delhi government commenced this testing at 169 centres in and around containment zones of the city. A total of 341 teams are involved in the testing process, an official said. According to Union Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy, the Centre plans to conduct six lakh rapid antigen tests at these 169 facilities. "Two important things happened today. COVID-19 testing rates in Delhi have been reduced to Rs 2,400 and rapid-antigen testing has started. I hope people won't face any problem in getting themselves tested now," said Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. A healthcare worker at one of the testing centres said each testing kit costs Rs 450 and can provide results within 30 minutes as compared to RT-PCR test that takes three to four hours in laboratory conditions. The number of COVID-19 cases in Delhi stood at 47,102 of which 17,457 had recovered while the death toll stood at 1,904. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research(ICMR), suspected individuals who test negative for COVID-19 by rapid-antigen test should undergo RT-PCR test to rule out the infection while positive test results should be considered as true positive and do not need reconfirmation by RT-PCR test. Vardhan said the first mobile lab for COVID-19 testing also called I-Lab or Infectious Diseases Diagnostics Lab, can run 50 RT-PCR and about 200 ELISA tests in a day(both blood-based tests). A double set of machines can help increase the capacity to about 500 tests per day in 8-hour shift, he said. "This mobile testing facility will be deployed through the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) testing hubs to remote regions of the country for coronavirus testing." With Uttar Pradesh recording its highest single-day spike of 604 cases, the Allahabad High Court suggested that the state government undertake mass testing of COVID-19. The state's tally stood at 15,785. In Maharashtra, the COVID-19 tally rose to 1,20,504 with the addition of 3,752 new cases while 100 fresh deaths were recorded to take the toll to 5,751. Tamil Nadu registered more than 2,000 fresh cases for the second straight day to take the total to 52,334. In some concern for the northeast, Manipur reported 54 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours with all the patients having come from other states, taking its tally to 606, officials said. In states which had cases less than 10,000, Andhra Pradesh witnessed a record single day high of 425 new taking the overall tally to 7,496. When asked about the surge, a senior health official said the pandemic was probably peaking in the state. "Yes, we are peaking. Handling the new case load is crucial for us now," he added. At a meeting with Chief Minister Kejriwal and senior officials to review the COVID-19 situation in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), Home Minister Shah favoured a unified Delhi-NCR strategy for COVID-19, saying the national capital can't be separated from the suburbs. "In view of the structure of Delhi-NCR region, all concerned bodies need to unite and work on a common strategy against the coronavirus pandemic. In this context, I met with Delhi Chief Minister and senior officials of Center and Delhi-NCR today to discuss how to evolve a strategy as soon as possible," Shah tweeted. An editorial published in ICMR's Indian Journal of Medical Research (IJMR), meanwhile, said mathematical models on severity of COVID-19 pandemic in India carried a "strong element of bias and used assumptions" to predict cases and deaths which "proved to be far from real". It said that it is a "huge risk" to solely rely on these models for policy decisions on advance planning since predicting infectious diseases for a new pathogen is an "extremely perilous proposition" and hence, it should be avoided. The editorial 'Lessons Learnt During The First 100 Days Of COVID-19 Pandemic in India' is penned by Rajesh Bhatia, former director of Communicable Diseases for WHO's South-East Asia Regional Office, and Priya Abraham, director of ICMR-National Institute of Virology. Several mathematical models projected the severity of the pandemic in terms of cases and deaths and, at least, in the context of India, none of these proved correct and failed to predict the biological phenomenon of infectious diseases, it added.
